I initially asked Mr. Tallent to provide an estimate for a covered porch. He stopped by to get measurements and other information. While he was here I asked if he knew anyone who built sheds/storage buildings. He said, "I could give you an estimate on that too if you'd like". I provided pictures and details on what I was looking for and within several days he had provided an estimate for both. We went with the shed. Mr. Tallent (and his daughter Jessica) were very responsive to any calls/e-mails when I had questions. If he made an appointment to meet me on site to discuss or review the project he was always there. He arranged every aspect of the job and made everything seamless to me. The crews doing the work were experienced and professional. Mr. Tallent staged every aspect of the project and the whole process moved along without any interruptions. When his crews finished each day, all excess materials were removed and i didn't have to deal with any 'dump runs'. I'm very happy with the end result and would recommend Mr. Tallent for any job. When you're dealing with people, a lot of times it comes down to "TRUST", and I trust Mr. Tallent provided me with a very good product at a very reasonable price.

Over all the job went very well from our initial (on time meeting) through completion of the work. Everyone we dealt with was professional and polite including subcontractors that were used on the job. We are so happy with the new porch and deck that we intend to use Tallent for our next project.

We purchased a foreclosure home that needed a whole lot of work. We met Mr Tallent and other contractors at the recent Home & Garden Show in Augusta. Although we received several estimates, Mr Tallent offered to do all of the necessary repairs and construction to meet our needs that was well within our budget, and I might add, below other contractor estimates!! Mr Tallent worked with the City of Aiken to get the required approvals for the decks and other construction we needed completed. He kept us informed every step of the way when the architectual drawings were being modified by the engineers. When we finally received approval from the City of Aiken, he helped us make the best financial decisions possible. His knowledge of contracting and home repair was invaluable to our decision making process. I know he helped us save several thousand dollars over all the work his company had completed. His entire crew was always polite and punctual and of course informative and willing to do more than we asked for. Mr Tallent was always either on site or a phone call away if anything came up that we had a question on or did not understand. When the work was finally completed and the City Inspector came out for his final approval, he told Mr Tallent and I that he went "above and beyond" what was required. We could not have been more pleased with the work that Tallent Decks and Porches did for us. We are even awaiting an estimate for more work to be done. The service provided was excellent! Mr. Tallent thoroughly investigated the deck, noted issues, and gave us short-term and long-term options to solve the problems and improve the functionality and looks. His team showed up when expected and were very careful when removing our deck items. They got right to work with the demolition and rebuild. We were particularly pleased that they tailored the new steps and handrails to address my wife's physical challenges. They also built a cute, portable bench for my wife and also made the new top rail wide enough for my wife's container garden. It was the unexpected extras and attention to detail that showed Mr. Tallent cared about us as his customer. We have showed our "new" deck to friends and highly recommend Tallents Decks and Porches.

Tallents responded to my request quickly, but weather delayed work a bit. This was expected as we received a ridiculous amount of rain during the week the work order was processed. When Tallents arrived to complete the work, the work done greatly exceeded my expectations in regards to both quality and timeliness. The work was completed in one afternoon, and the area was cleaned of all waste and debris the following day.

The first task was replacing the tongue and grove front porch. First repairs had to be made to front support boards and additional boards had to be placed along side existing floor jousts. Then new Trek flooring was installed. It looked Great, but Neal, the owner noticed something right in front over the steps that wasn't up to his standards. He took it upon himself to replace the one board and support trim. Then this part was complete. It really looks nice. The second task was installing 6 inch leaf free gutters. He contracted this out to his gutter specialist. He really did a great job on the installation, making sure the facer boards were newly painted before attaching the gutters. I made a change to the location of the down spouts after they were partially set. The change was made without a hitch or change in price. Again they look great. Let me back up. Before installing the gutters they washed the entire house, not a harsh pressure wash, but lower speed and hand washed in most areas. Looked almost brand new. The largest task was staining our rather large two story back porch,deck and stairs. Because of cold temperatures it required three stages to finish the job. They completely hand wash the original surface before each new application during the staining process.. There was a lot of surface to cover. I must say it again. The deck looks Great. During the whole job, Neal, the owner, watched over the entire process making sure things were done right. He was quick to respond to my requests and concerns. He was very good to work with given my pickiness at times. I am very pleased with the finished product and would recommend Tallents Construction as a business that cares about their work and their customers. Excellent job!!!!!!!!!

Had challenges with layout, but Mr. Tallent provided suggestions/solutions that met or exceeded our needs. Solid structure. Did not cut corners on material. Excellent attention to detail. Immediately responded to calls and questions. Very pleased with finished product.

Tallents is a local family-owned company, and it did an excellent job. They arrived on time, followed through on their commitments, and were very accomodating when I made changes.

I was thoroughly pleased, and the company exceeded my expectations. Neil, the owner, was there almost every day working along side his crew, and he made several suggestions that ensured my satisfaction with the work. He also spent a lot of time planning the work with me, and he actually took me to a former job site to show what the finished product would look like. Furthermore, the crew was always on time, professional, and dependable, and I always felt comfortable with them at the house. Ultimately, they are well-deserving of their impeccable Angie's List rating.

I found Tallents here on Angie's list and was impressed with their reviews. After viewing their website and seeing examples of their work I gave Neal a call. He set up a meeting at my house a few days later. I had gotten two estimates before Tallents and they were both very high and still didn't cover everything I wanted done. When Neal came to work up an estimate I gave him a drawing I created of everything I wanted to do. I also explained to him what my budget was. He came up with some minor design modifications to save us money as far as deck dimensions go to maximize material usage. We also agreed to cut some items from my drawing such as under deck lattice, adding an exterior electrical outlet, and I would take care of all painting and staining. He created a proposal that cover the most important aspects of what we wanted, yet also fit our somewhat limited budget. He came on a Saturday and I had a proposal emailed to me by Tuesday. I discussed it with my wife and we agreed to the proposal. After we paid the deposit I asked him to come by the house to make sure we were both on the same page concerning all the finishing details. He always showed up when he said he would and I always got a very fast response any time I called or emailed Tallents. The material was delivered on schedule. Neal and his guys worked in a neat manner and cleaned the jobsite when they were done each day. They work fast without rushing or cutting corners. He kept the cost of the job within the original estimate. I wish all home contractors operated they do. We are VERY happy with the final product and would give them the highest recommendation.

They are very neat and clean. They are very honest because they always look for ways to save you money. He saved us money by reusing parts and by refinishing a bathroom cabinet. They were always on time. If they couldn't make it that day, they always called to let me know. They were always good and punctual. Neal kept coming to check on the workers to make sure they were doing everything correctly. I have recommended them to others.

They are wonderful. We had those nice looking iron balusters put in on the deck instead of the wooden ones so it cost a little more. They are so detail oriented. Neal is the owner and he spots everything. If you have a question he answers it and if it needs addressed he takes care of it. They came when they said they would. They worked quickly. They explained if there was any delay, like they were waiting before they stained it because they wanted the wood to dry out. Neal explains everything and he's wonderful. I love him. He's a general contractor so I'd probably call him for almost anything I had to do.

Everything went just like the owner had told me and he went up and over my expectations.

I call Mr. Tallent over the weekend and he returned my call the following Monday morning and was able to schedule to meet me at the house that week. After reviewing the deck we wanted built he was able to provide an estimate on the spot. He also followed up with some samples/pictures of iron/Aluminum railing options over the next few weeks as we attempted to decide if we were going to have the work done. Of the estimates we received Mr. Tallents was the most reasonable by far and he also seemed more knowledgeable than anyone else we spoke to. We currently have decided to have a family member build the deck so we did not need to hire out this service.

We picked this company from an ad in the Augusta Chronicle because of the discount on labor offered and the porches and decks viewed on their website. The project, tearing off old back porch and replacing it with a screened in porch and deck portion where we could put a grill. We chose low/no maintenance deck material, Trek, and aluminum materials for the screened in portion. The demolition and contruction started on the date asked for and on time. I was surprised with the first truck arrived at 7:50 AM. They were on time every day they worked. We asked if it was possible to have the porch done by Christmas because we were having company drivng in from another state to visit for a few days and we were told the construction would take 4 to 6 weeks. Even with the snow Augusta got the crew was able to get it done by Christmas. They were very courteous and professional. The boss, Neil, and Supervior, Chris were on site most of the time. They even policed the area picking up any stray papers, etc. that blew onto our neighbor's property and kept materials off of the neighbor's grass which is very close to our driveway. The only issue we had was our dog, Jake, who didn't see the screen and ran into it tearing a hole in it with his head. Bet he never does that again! The screen was replaced at the end of the project. We also asked for gutter guards added to the eaves around the porch because of the number of pine trees in our yard, so that was a little extra ($100). Two of our neighbors asked for proposals on some work they wanted as they were impressed with the work done on our house. I highly recommend this company and would chose them again.
