It was part of the Busby's preferred member programme or something, and it was towards the end of it, so they actually automatically enroled me for the next year, hence the price. They were fine. When they came out, they were great. They just did the service and they told me that everything was fine. But about two weeks later my A/C unit went out in the middle of summer - after they told me that everything was good to go, everything looked fine. Actually they did replace something on there with that visit that they came out. They said they needed to replace something. So I had them replaced that and they everything should be fine. And then within weeks it stopped working and I tried to have them come out again to fix it. They said it was going to be two or three days before they could come out and check it out, but I mean as far as I'm concerned, if I'm paying for this preferred membership enrolment that is over a $100 a year, two or three days in 90+ degrees weather is not really acceptable. And they just told me they already had routine appointments that they had to take care of.
Description of Work: I have been using Busby's. They actually came out and I think they were doing a general routine inspection and cleaning of the unit.

Response from Busby's Inc
According to our records we performed maintenace on Member's system on June 15th of this year. At that time we discovered that two capacitors were out of the recommended safe range and recommended replacement. The cost of the two capacitors was $217.00. The cost for the maintenace was $119.00. At that time the sustem was working properly and we left. The system is about 10 years old and there is no way to be sure that a mechanical failure will not occur even if maintenance has been done. On July 10th we received a call at 8:48 am from Member stating that the coolling system was not working. We were in the middle of a hot spell and we had numerous service calls from other maintenace agreement customers that had been placed prior to Member. The call was set up for the next day between 10am anf 12 noon. When we called at 11:32 to send a techinician out, but we were unable to get in contact with Member with the phone numbers that we had. Even though we were unable to get her on the phone we sent a technician anyway and she was not at home. We left a door tag on the door to show that we had tried to perform the service. At some point after that Member called to say that she had someone else come out and was disappointed in our service. Because of that we refunded the $119.00 for the maintenance visit and sent her a check. We try to go above and beyond to satisfy our customers. I am not sure what more we could have done.

Horrible. They dont stand behind their word. Not a stand up company.
Description of Work: We are having a problem with the AC unit putting to much moisture into our home, causing our drywall to be soaking wet and moisture to build behind the walls. Mold had began to come out of the electrical sockets in my 1 year old daughter's upstairs bedroom (so you can imagine the urgency to get it fixed). After being referred to Busby's through a Mold Control Company they came out to assess the situation. The gentleman inspected the house and informed us what "he thought" the problem was, then walked us through what they were going to do to fix it. He assured me that were going to take care of it, and schedule the appointment for the following day at noon. WELL at approximately 7:41 I received a phone call from a receptionist who informed me they could no longer work with us, when I asked if she had spoken to the man who came out to my home she told me yes and proceeded to put me on hold to return and tell me that she was mistaken. Ten minutes later the man I met with the previous day calls and tells me that they can not service my home unless I use the mold company they recommend. So much for that stand up reputation they are known for. When asked why I was not informed of this yesterday when he came to my home, WHILE The Owner of the mold company was here at the same time, he replied I didn't know it was our policy. Some stand up company you are. You dont even support the people who reccomend your services.

Our company was referred by a mold remediation company that we had never heard of or done business with. We sent a salesperson out at no charge to survey the situation. We are not in the mold remediation business and had never done work at this home or for this customer before.Our sales person was unfamiliar with mold problems and did not realize that we are not in the business to solve this kind of problem. If the customer has a mold remediation company provide a scope of work that is needed to be performed by an HVAC company we would be happy to do the work. I feel this review is unfair since we did not do any work for this customer or charge them anything. I don't know how we can be accused of not standing behind our work when we did not perform any work.

They were good and I give them a C rating. I wasn't here when the work took place but he didn't show up on time. My wife called me and said she wasn't going to wait anymore and he showed up. She got hot with me but I said no I am not the one. I don't know if I would call them out again.

WHEN I CALLED BUSBY BACKED IN 2011 AND OTHER AC COMPANIES IT WAS PURELY ON TALK AMONG FRIENDS, WE HAD NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH THEM.( THE UNIT THAT CAME WITH THE HOUSE WAS CLOSE TO 30 YEARS OLD BROKE DURING THE HEAT WAVE OF 07-2011) WE ALMOST DIED WITH THE HEAT BUT MANAGED TO GET THROUGH THE SUMMER. THIS YEAR (03- 2012) I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED WITH ANGIE'S LIST TO RESEARCH DIFFERENT AC COMPANIES. I WANTED A REPUTABLE COMPANY THAT WOULD BE PROFESSIONAL, HONEST, AND STAND BEHIND THERE WORK. I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT BUSBY PUT THE P IN PROFESSIONALISM -THE H IN HONESTY AND THEY DEFINITELY HAVE STOOD BY THERE WORK, THUS FAR IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE TO HIRE A COMPANY WHO SAY WHAT THEY WILL DO AND ACTUALLY DO IT. THEY ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS AND JUST WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. They will come back until the job is correct. They listen to what you have to say. They are always prompt and on time. They are respectful of your home, they put coverings on their feet when they come in. If it is raining they are very very careful. They are very respectful and intelligent, you don't get rif raf from them at all. I think all of the people have worked there for a very long time, they must treat them well. They will come out anytime.

The old pump quit on us and we had to replace it. They got it all done in less than a day. We were pleased with them so we had them come twice a year and service our heat and air system. They are very thorough and just do a very good job. We will use them again in the future.

Very professional from the beginning, Doug did a thorough and informative evaluation and estimate, answered all our questions and provided different options for us to consider. Once we accepted his proposal, work got underway on the day we requested work to begin. Myles and James arrived promptly, informed us of what they were doing throughout the day. Whenever there was any kind of decision to be made about any issue, they explained the situation, offered the options and proceded after consulting with us. They worked straight through all day until the job was complete so we were not without heat that night. They evaluated the duct work, offered their opinion(which i found very valuable and reliable because of their experience in the field) , agreed to talk with Doug about what was needed and return a day later to complete the duct work needed. It was offered at a very reasonable price, completed very professionally . They "went the extra mile" to make sure we were happy with the job . I know they added some extra care and detail beyond what they were required to do. A visit from Doug at job's completion and an inspection from their quality control took place as promised and scheduled. We would highly recommend them to anyone needing their type service.

They come out once before the winter season and once before it starts to get hot here in Georgia just to make sure things are copacetic with the unit. I think I spent about $125 a year to make sure the heating and air-conditioning is running right. If I have any problems with it, they come and will check it for free and that maintenance agreement also gives me discounted parts if they need to put a part in. I would recommend them to others and I have no problems with them. I have been happy with their service. Their pricing is very reasonable.

They cleaned out my air ducts and said that there was additional work that needed to be done including fixing a bent-up pipe. They supposedly did everything they said they would, but a few weeks later we had an exterminator come out and he said that the work was not done at all. We called Busby's back and the boss came out and confirmed that they did not do the job they were supposed to do and fixed it himself, but after that experience, we just don't trust them anymore.

Since this work was performed about 3 1/2 years ago I am responding with the information in our files. The salesperson that was in charge of the job has since retired so I could not ask him if he remembered the specifics. According to our records we we performed a cleaning on the heating and cooling system and performed repairs to the duct system on two different occasions. About a year and a half after the work was done we were called out and our service technician discovered that the ductwork had come apart under the house. I am not certain what caused this. Even though the one year warranty had expired we repaired the duct at no charge. That was over 2 years ago and we have not been contacted by the customer since. I am not certain why they just now posted this information on Angie's list.

Prior unit was very old. I got 3 estimates and Busby's was in the middle, but they were the most thorough and professional. They did an excellent job on installation, were very punctual and worked very efficiently. The new unit worked good, and they even sent out someone to inspect the job. Very satisfied

They are all wonderful. I've used others before and I would never go back. It's been awhile since I've used anyone else. When you get the best, you never go back. We've never had any problems with them. They make you feel safe about using their equipment. If I need anything, I call and they come right out without charging each time. This is a great membership. We will continue to use them in the future. The price listed is what it costs per year to be a silver member.

Raymond then said that it would cost $285 if my memory serves correct (he may have said $245, just to be clear and fully disclosed), but then implied that this could have been avoided if I had performed the proper maintenance to meet his standards. By this time, I was feeling quite offended. I then asked if he could show me the damage on the air conditioner unit, so we walked outside to the air conditioner. Raymond showed me where the wires had burned off and then asked if I had cleaned the outside unit. I told him that I had and Raymond quickly and haughtily interjected "With what? A water hose?" By this time, I am quite sure that Raymond should have been able to know that I was feeling that he was incredibly rude. I said that I had used a soft brush and showed how the outside fins were clean. Raymond then looked at the fins, noticing that they were clean and as if defeated in an argument, he declared, in a much louder tone, did you clean the inside fins. Pointing to some other area of the unit, Raymond used technical jargon to name the contraption that he said was not clean; and in one of THE most arrogant and rude tone with THE most cynical facial expression, Raymond said, "See... You FAILED to clean your system." I then politely said that I did not care for his attitude. He then said "OK. Well I'll just pack up my shit and leave." He then slammed the top portion of the air conditioner unit down and began to pick up his tools. I was stunned by his threatening rudeness and I am going to teach you a lesson attitude in addition to the possible damage he may have caused to my property. At this time, I tried to assuage him by telling him "If you had a bad day, that's cool man, just take it easy." I certainly did not want the situation to escalate to the point where Raymond would become so irate that he would try to damage my property or try to hurt me. Raymond did not say anything else, and I walked away to the front of my house and immediately called Busby's while Raymond was still collecting his tools. I was connected to the manager, Jerry Clark, who apologized and said that he would send someone else over to fix my air conditioner. I have never experienced such an unprofessional attitude and an incredibly rude, crude, and crass display of behavior, as displayed by Raymond Radke today, especially by a company that supposedly prides itself upon being the cr me de la cr me of customer service. I have learned my lesson, and in the future, will never request the assistance or services of Busby s. Furthermore, I will relay this unfortunate yet obviously avoidable incident to anyone who asks, Who should I call to get my air conditioner fixed.
Description of Work: Replaced wiring in air conditioner. Unprofessional attitude of Busby's technician, Raymond Radke. Today, (Tuesday, 8/12/2008) my experience with Busby's staff was a far cry from what is advertised and promoted in Busby's mission statement and reputation. Today around 1:30 pm, a technician by the name of Raymond Radke visited my home to inspect my air-conditioner, determine why it is not working, and to repair it. I invited him into my house, and he inspected the air intake vents and the filters located inside the vents. I showed him where all three were located, yet he only inspected two of them. He stated that one of the filters needed to be cleaned and asked when was the last time it had been clean. I told him probably about 2 months ago, and he said, "You need to clean them every thirty days." He had a condescending tone, but I tried not to make much of it. I suppose everyone has a bad day. He then inspected the outside air conditioner unit for around 10-15 minutes and then came back inside my house to explain what damage he had found. He said that he had noticed that two of the wires that are connected to the compressor were burned and that it was likely due to insufficient air return and due to me not cleaning the filters. It is difficult to accurately convey emotions but it was readily evident that Raymond was trying to voice these statements in a haughty and punitive manner. At this time I was really sensing a strange aura. CONTINUED. SEE REST OF STORY BELOW OR IN NEXT SECTION.

THIS CUSTOMER WAS SENT ANOTHER TECHNICIAN IMMEDIATELY TO RESOLVE HIS PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A PERSONALITY CONFLICT WITH RAYMOND AND THIS CUSTOMER. RAYMOND HAS BEEN EMPLOYED AT BUSBY'S FOR 17 YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST COMPLAINT OF THIS NATURE. EVEN CONSIDERING THAT WE IMMEDIATELY ENROLLED RAYMOND IN A CUSTOMER SERVICE CLASS. I RESPONDED TO THE CUSTOMER PERSONALLY WITH A LETTER OF APOLOGY AND COMMUNICATED THIS INFORMATION. RICK BUSBY
