Technician was Kelly Brunson. He called to let us know he was on his way and arrived promptly after call. He was replacing air scrubber cell. He also checked vents to make sure they were functioning properly. He was very friendly and explained everything he had done wished us a good afternoon and told us to call if we needed anything else.

The installers from Busby's were punctual, professional and overall excellent. 'Took the time to tell me what they were doing, and ask if I had any questions. The installations of condenser, coil, blower and thermostat were done to perfection, and they cleaned up afterwards to a point that I think was better than when they first arrived. ; >

It was 10 years old and it needed to be replaced. I've used them for the last two or three years, off and on. They were very personable and honest and I never felt cheated. I felt like they knew what they were doing.

On whole the service went well, but for the scheduling. On the web site I requested service through busbys@busbys.com on August 21, 2016, never received a response. On August 23rd at 12:43pm I directed the same request to service@busbys.com, never received a response (to Busby's credit this e-mail address may not be monitored). At 9:30pm August 23rd, I directed my request to Kristen Busby, the Service Manager. The next day the service was scheduled. The web site "Contact Us" feature is lacking which is why I rated "Responsiveness" FAIR, unfortunately typical of most service providers in the area. The original schedule was not met, the reason I rated Punctuality just GOOD, but Busby's called to advise and rescheduled for the following week. They said if the service could be fitted in the next day, they would try. That is what happened and we received service on Friday without having the weekend with no cooling. Randy Dunn, the service technician, arrived in a clean truck, quickly diagnosed that our system was low on Freon, and replenished it with a weighed in charge of 2#. The price for the obsolete R-22 Freon was expected and fair. The tablet Busby's used took my debit card payment and immediately produced an e-mailed invoice, a modern use of technology.

Our new furnace quit working. They came out did nothing but bad mouth other service providers. Hit the face of the furnace and it started working. A week later stopped working again. Came out said it was possibly a computer part refused to order the part saying I had to pay for it up front even though it was under warranty and they claim to honor warranty. paid $159 for service call. Called the company to complain and they argued that I signed the service order. Told them I didn't sign anything. They sent me a refund for the $159. The problem was not enough gas flow, Another company made the adjustment and we haven't had a problem since. I have 2 cancelled checks from this company I would have to go dig out for the exact dates but I can prove that they came to my home twice this review should not be removed. I went back and checked my records the only thing I was confused about is the date of service I called International Comfort Products about our warranty on December 18 2012 than I called Busbys they stated their service call was $98 I gave them an A for punctuality because they came that day I had a coupon for $20 from the super saver I paid with check #1288 in the amount of $78. Talked to tech about the dust problem he suggested a uv light called their service dept to order one and the service manager said they weren't worth the money and talked me out of it. I realize this was a while back but they still provided bad service and were nasty. I again talked to International Comfort Products on December 26 They were extremely nice and helpful and said the warranty would be honored. Time has completely gotten away from me since during this time period my grand daughter died my father in law got cancer and has since died and my husband was diagnosed with a bone marrow disorder so to have to deal with jerks like the ones I dealt with at Busby's with everything that was going on is not acceptable. It's not acceptable even if nothing was going on in my life. If you you want a good review give better service. Not once was there an apology or a how can we do better everybody was nasty and argumentative. Your bright yellow trucks make it hard to confuse which company was here. I should have checked my records for the date I'll know better next time for reviews on this site. My husband was talking to me and I mis-typed yellow of course your trucks are red in the next few days I will make copies of my checks and get a copy of the refund you sent back to me to upload for proof. I believe I also have the receipts your tech gave me, which I will also upload.

After Angie's List supplies a street address we were able to find the customers records. On December 18, 2012 we went to the customers home for a heating problem. We cleaned the flame sensor and charged a total of $78.00. On December 26, 2012 we returned for the same problem and cleaned the burners, checked the gas pressure, and the system was working intermittently. Our technician thought the problem was the gas valve and quoted a repair. There was no charge from our company for this call. The customer called the following day and was unhappy with our service. On December 27, 2012 a refund check for the $78.00 was issued. The customer was refunded the entire amount that they had paid our company. If anyone in our company was rude during this process I certainly apologize as our company is well known and respected for our customer service and professionalism.

Technician told us Unit had bad heat exchanger and could not repair without replacing heat exchanger. He shut off gas to prevent use of unit until repaired. ( I knew this was required by law of course) He quoted a price to replace heat exchanger of $4000.00 I considered this estimate extremely high. I am probably wrong but I believe the price should be somewhere in the $1000 to $1500 range He also quoted a price of unit replacement of approximately $5500.00 He did not provide a written estimate with estimated part costs. Two days later when ambient temperature was warmer I turned on Air conditioning unit. I noticed an hour later house was not cooling down. I went outside and found Air conditioning compressor was running but the Condenser fan not operating. I immediately shut off unit to protect compressor from damage. I knew the condenser fan was working ok before heater inspection so I suspected a wire was possibly jarred lose during inspection. Next day I called company explaining what I fear had happened and a different tech came out and agreed with my guess and fixed problem which was a wire not connected back after inspection. Air worked ok after that.

It could not have gone better. Busby's was quick and efficient. Because they had been out the day before looking at the upstairs unit (that's a phone call you don't want to get from your house-sitters while on vacation on the other side of the country), they did not charge me a service call -- just the price of the replaced capacitor. I have used Busby's on a number of occasions in the past and will continue to do so.
Description of Work: I called Busby's this morning (Sunday) after coming home from vacation to find that my downstairs unit was not working. Myles was out at my house within 3 hours and got it working again!

Mr. Way was professional, timely, and courteous. He answered all my questions completely and spent time looking at my existing system. I did not get the written estimate right away - it was several days later but he followed up with me by phone and told me when it would be available. Although I chose a different provider for my system, it was not because of a lack of anything significant by Busby's or Mr. Way. It is a great company that I have used for many years. The cost estimate given to me and the recommended brand (Trane) was not unreasonable but it was just more than I was willing to pay for similar systems from other quality providers.

No new ducts no new thermostat no fresh air ducts,no clean up.And sent me a bill for 8500.00. I called them 4 or 5 times for them to complete the service.Would not call back.I sent 1/2 payment in and in about 2 days there was a truck in my yard from Busbys, they said they would finish up I gave them a list in about 2 to 3 hours they said it was done I paid the balance of 4250.00 by C/C After work I checked and they only enlarged the vents in the office landry and thermostat.I called again over a month no appt was made by them finally the sales man said I could finish the job my self they would not. This is not the Busbys or the past .They have sales down to pull you in and after this you are on your on.The A rating on angies list has me baffled. This should be a buyer be ware!!!!

Response from Busby's Inc
According to our records we came out on May 15, 2015 and May 16, 2014 to replace a vertical furnace in the closet, Coil and Condenser. We were also to enlarge the Supply Ducts in the Mud Room and Office from 6” to 8”. There was to be a High Sidewall Duct added to the den (8”) and a Low Sidewall Return Air Filter Grill. This was the work to be done according to our sales agreement. Upon leaving the job on May 16, 2014, our installers stated that they were complete with everything listed except for (4) 8” boots and enclosing the top of the Furnace closet. When asked why they did not enclose the top of the closet, their reply was that the homeowner said he would take care of that. I am not aware of any phone calls that were not returned in a timely manner. That would be very unlike our company. On May 29th, we set up an appointment for the job to be completed on June 12, 2014. This had nothing to do with receiving payment. Payment for ½ of the job was received on June 10th by check. The other half of the payment was received on June 13th by credit card. On June 12, 2014 our installers returned to replace the 6” boots for 8” boots for the duct work that we enlarged, and we replaced the thermostat. On June 18, 2014 our Quality Assurance Technician came out to perform his inspection of the system and the work that was performed. During the inspection, the QA Technician noted that the Furnace Closet was not enclosed at the top and there was a rubber Grommet not installed around the gas line. On July 9, 2014 we had one of our other technicians come out and install a rubber grommet on the gas line. The customer requested that we enclose the top of the furnace closet with wood. To my knowledge this is the only thing that we did not complete and we did tell the customer if he wanted that done, although we didn’t recommend it, he would have to do it himself. We could not enclose the top of the Furnace Closet with wood due to violation of the Building Code in our industry (2012 International Mechanical Code section 801.18.2.) We offered to enclose the top of the closet with metal but we were told that the customer did not want us to. We will be happy do that if given permission. After looking over all of the information provided and talking to all the team members that were involved in this installation, it appears that everything that was promised was performed within the guidelines of our industry. I have mailed the customer a letter with my findings and asked if there is anything that needs to be done. Rick Busby

Date: Thurs._06/26/14: The service technician (Benny) was very professional. He used foot covers when he came in to check the unit in the attic. He found the breaker had tripped in the panel box. He found the compressor start wire has a bare spot. He placed electrical tape on the bad spot. Also, he recommended the 40/5 dual capacitor be replace because it was going bad. He quoted the replacement part ($201.00) + ($83.00) part procurement fee. I wanted the part be replaced ASAP. My system was cooling when he left my home. On Sat._06/28/14 (Virgil) contacted me to let me know that the replacement part was in and a technician (Melvin) was routed to my resident to replaced the item. He replaced the capacitor in approx.10 mins. Laterly, I contacted the Virgil about some condensation or water droplets collected on the outer tubings inside the unit itself. He said that was normal. I told Virgil how much I appreciate their prompt service. Again, thanks!
Description of Work: Contacted the vendor (Virgil) who was helpful and caring concerning my air conditioning malfunction. He was able to help get a technician to my resident approx. 45 mins. laterly. Diagnostic After Hours service was $137.00

The call went fine but the serviceman did not say that I could get a leak in the unit fixed so here I am less than a year later paying for it again. In addition he left the pipe that controls the water run off loose as in not hooked up so water was flooding the garage floor. The leak is now fixed by another local company who did not charge me a trip fee. I live 300 yards from the Ga state line on Fureys Ferry in SC but Busbys charges $75 to cross the bridge. I live 15 miles from the old city county building on Greene St in Augusta. While I was pleased that Busbys offered 10% off their call I found another company with no trip fee and a 20% off coupon.

Our records show that we were at this location on August 8,2013. The total charge for the visit was $400.00. The customer was quoted the diagnostic fee of $98.00 with an out of the area trip fee of 40.00 prior to sending the technician. A Clark Hill S.C. address is considered out of the normal $98.00 diagnostic fee area. We added refrigerant to the system to get it operating at the time. It is our policy to offer a leak search anytime we determine a refrigerant leak. If he offered a leak search there is no mention on our invoice or in our records of our technician doing this. He obviously made an error where that is concerned. I am not aware of a water leak or how we could have caused it. I wish the customer had asked for the service manager or myself when the problem reoccurred. We would have made a price adjustment on the next call due to the circumstances.

The experience was one of if not the best I have ever had with a home maintenance contractor. The bid was not the cheapest but was still competitive, and in the end I feel the extra expense was well worth it. The crew was exceptionally well organized and efficient. They were very respectful of my home and maintaining its cleanliness. They stayed on schedule and actually completed the job ahead of their schedule estimate. The performance of the unit they installed has thus far met all expectations, although have no utility cost data yet to confirm the expected improved system energy efficiency. This company clearly takes pride in their product and service and is deserving of anybody's consideration for installation of a new system.

The service man came and it took him until after 9 PM to get our system repaired and he never complained and he work very hard and kept us informed all the time. We have been using Busby's for well over 10 years now and they have never let us down and for that reason we have remained loyal to them ( we used them at our previous residence and continued on here) we will recommend and have in the past to anyone. They may not be the cheapest in town, but you cannot put a price on honesty and service and that is what we have had with Busby;'s
