The workmen arrived (2) , looked at the two problems I had called about, gave me a price for the repairs and completed the repairs. It took about 35 minutes and they cleaned up and were gone.

Do get an estimate before you start.
Description of Work: This is my first negative feedback for Angieslist, and I'm giving it almost solely based on price. I agreed to meet the plumber here during my lunch break. I made the mistake of not asking for an estimate on the phone . Roy met me here on time. I didn't realize that we would need to have to shut off the water to my entire building (I live in a condo) prior to starting the job, and I had to get approval from the HOA before starting. This took 20 minutes of phone calling, and we had to agree to not have the water off for very long. The job itself took another 20 minutes, and he was out of here within the hour. I was stunned when he told me it would cost $285. I asked how much the part was, and he said it cost less than $50, but the rest was labor. I know that he had to make a service call for a flat fee, but do plumbers seriously make $200 an hour. That's ridiculous! I feel that he should have given me some indication of what it would cost prior to starting the job.

I had gotten their name from Angie's List. I wasn't happy with the previous plumber who was part of the crew when I was having my kitchen redone (the old disposal was reinstalled so I'm not sure if it broke a few weeks after the kitchen was finished because it was old or a problem with the way it was reinstalled) Rusty and his assistant came at the time promised and fixed the problems to mysatisfaction. I thought the charge was very fair and I would use them again.
Description of Work: Had a couple of problems that needed to be taken care of. Replace old garbage disposal, check leak in master bathroom sink, and another possible leak in guest bedroom. Rusty and his assistant came out and replaced the disposal with the one I had purchased at Home Depot. He assured me that it was a good one and a brand they always used as well (which by the way was not the most expensive model available). He advised it was not advisable just to try to plug the small small leak in the master bathroom pipe under the sink since it was so old and starting to corrode (I was already aware of this) so he replaced it with PVC pipe. He also looked at the possible leak from the tub to the drywall which was already damaged. On advice from previous plumber (which I decided not to use again) I had re-caulk along the shower door frame which he felt would solve the problem. I asked Rusty for his opinion and he agreed that re-caulking should solve the problem but I would have to have that portion of the drywall replaced at some point.

For the hot water heater replacement, we called Ridgeway in the morning and by the early afternoon they had person on hand to inspect the job. By later that afternoon, the heater had been installed. The only issue we had with the installer was that he wasn't as concerned with the heater being level as he should have been. Luckily, we were watching the job closely and worked to place some tiles under the uneven portions of the heater to bring it back to level. It's that extra attention to detail that is sometimes lacking. Other than that, the job was smooth. We had tried to get the same repairman to replace the heater that had done the pipe replacement, since he was amazing, but he unfortunately had moved away/
Description of Work: My latest experience with Ridgeway included the replacement of a gas hot water heater. I had noticed my old heater was leaking water and I called Ridgeway, as they had assisted with another major plumbing issue in my home. The previous job involved replacing part of a pipe that had become obstructed by tree roots growing through the pipe. Since Ridgeway had done such a great job replacing the pipe, I decided to call on them again. Ridgeway came out and replaced the hot water heater in the same day and provided a competitive estimate. Most heater replacements are standard pricing, so i knew price wasn't going to be a huge issue.

These are my "go to" plumbers. I used lots of different plumbers until I found them. When you call them, you need to know what you are getting. The guy who runs this company only hires true, hardcore plumbers who really know what they are doing. They are very professional and very efficient. They may not glad hand you and chat you up, but they'll grab the problem and wrestle it to the ground. They have probably done around 10 jobs for me over the years and I have always been satisfied with their work.

Went as expected - we received an estimate, then work was performed the next day.
Description of Work: Ridgeway repaired our broken sewer pipe. It was 11 ft. deep, so it required heavy machinery. They were here when expected, and already had the utiity companies mark the yard for digging. This was the second time we've used them, and will use them again if ever needed. Highly recommended!

I decided to hire Ridgeway Mechanical based on their positive reviews on Kudzu and Angie’s List. So it was the luck of the draw, or rather bad luck that my experience as not very positive. I renovated 4 bathrooms. On May 10, Ridgeway sent out Dan to install a new shower drain, a shower valve, and move 4 sink lines according to a spec. When I asked the cost, he looked up at the sky and pulled a number down, $1400. When Dan finished installing the shower valve, he turned the water back on. What he forgot to do was shut off the valve. Water flooded the subfloor, which is over my kitchen so my kitchen ceiling got soaked, leaving huge water stains. He did the work, got paid and left. The next day, my tile guy had a problem and said that either Dan had stripped the bolts holding down the drain, or he didn’t replace the drain as instructed. Turns out, Dan never replaced the drain, just put on a new drain cap. I called Ridgeway and they said they knew what happened and that Dan was no longer with the company. They sent out Jason Bailey who put in a new drain at no charge, which turned out to be cracked. If my tile guy hadn’t said anything, it could have been disastrous. When the vanity people came, they notified me that the water lines that Dan had moved were not in the right place. I had to call Ridgeway to move the lines again and unfortunately I had to pay $250 for that mistake. I learned that my hall bath had a rotted subfloor and I called Ridgeway to recommend someone to replace it. They recommended a guy named Tim Garrett who subcontracted with them to do drywall and paint. Tim moved the cast iron tub and replaced the subfloor and did a few other things. He broke the shower valve and of course, more water flooding over my kitchen. He contacted Ridgeway and it was agreed he would paint the ceiling, but stood me up twice. Ridgeway sent out Rusty to replace the tub and install the new shower valve. Later in the week the tile guy came out and finished his work. Now that the last tile job had been completed I called Ridgeway to install the last shower and bath trim and I specifically asked for Jason Bailey again. His work was always great and I’ve never had a problem with him. Unfortunately, a new problem was found. The shower valve that Rusty installed was placed incorrectly and too close to the tub spout and the shower/tub trim wouldn’t fit (pictures included.) I called Alan Ridgeway while Jason was still there and Alan tried blaming it on the tile guy, which is absolutely impossible. He then said he would speak with Jason and get back with me. I didn’t hear back. I called again the next day. He said he would speak with Jason and Rusty and would call back. Again, I didn’t hear back. I left another message 3 hours later. Seven hours later I received a call from Jaime who said that Ridgeway would fix the problem. I explained to Jaime that I’ve had too many serious errors and that maybe we should just call it a day. He said that he would speak with Alan Ridgeway and let me know later that night or on Saturday. And again, I never heard anything back. So, along with the drain not properly replaced, a kitchen ceiling flooded and had to be repainted, 2 sets of water lines not placed correctly, a shower/tub valve not properly place, I had to call the tile guy to pull out newly installed tiles so the valve could be placed properly by another company. I ended up spending a lot of money on their errors. I think Ridgeway’s prices were okay, and the quality of Jason Bailey’s work was excellent, but customer service and the work of others…..pretty bad. If it wasn’t for Jason Bailey I would have given them all F’s.

Very good. Estimated time of arrival was spot on. Very professional. I will consider using Ridgeway Mechanical again!
Description of Work: Just before Memorial Day weekend, owner of ground floor condo unit reports water damage coming from my condo unit upstairs. A plumber from Ridgeway came out within a couple of hours of calling on the same day. He identified the source of the problem that required no additional service and charged only a minimal fee for the visit. Offered to put that amount toward a future plumbing job I was considering.

Before calling Ridgeway I called another popular plumbing company to come out and give me an estimate on the water leak that I had under my drive way. Well, the first company gave me an estimate of $1,875 to complete the job and told me that the price would be "A drop in the bucket for me." So I looked on Angie's list and found Ridgeway. They came out and gave me an estimate for the same job and quoted me $1,200. I scheduled my service appointment for later on that week, they arrived a little after their scheduled time. However, they quickly got started on the job, with a total of three guys and about 4 -4 1/2 hours later the job was done. Me and my husband are satisfied with Ridgeway's service.

It went as expected. They arrived on time, were professional, and did the job in minutes. The guy did show me how to fix it, but if it ever breaks again, it's highly unlikely that I will do it myself!!!
Description of Work: I've used Ridgeway many times, but for this particular visit they came to replace a toilet handle. I was extremely appreciative that prior to the aactual visit they tried to walk me through how I could do this myself and save money. I think most people would tend to take the job and charge for it even though they know it is something simple that the customer can do.

Ken was very knowledgeable about my old Grohe valve, and helped me select a new valve that is more owner and "plumber friendly." He was prompt, neat and very pleasant. The only reason I gave a "B" for responsiveness, is that I think maybe they are a small operation. When a sheetrock repair man put a screw through a p-trap, ATL Plumbing did not have anyone available to come out until the next day. Not a huge deal though.

They said they had same day service, and they did. We called at 4:00 pm to report a shower tap would not shut off. They said they may have someone in the area, and would call back to let us know. At 4:15 they called back and said someone would be there in about 15 minutes. At 4:30 their man showed up, and by 5:15 had completed the repair. Very responsive, professional and couteous at a reasonable price. Ridgeway is our plumber in the future.

We have used Ridgeway Mechanical a couple of times over the past couple of years. They have been outstanding in all aspects: Response (on a holiday weekend!); attitude; service; price; follow up. All areas exceeded our expectations. I would recommend this company to anyone at anytime!
Description of Work: The first time we used Ridgeway was in December 2008 when our water heater went out and flooded the basement. It was a holiday weekend and we were going out of town that day. Ridgeway responded that day! While we couldn't get it replaced that day (stores closed), Ridgeway made sure everything was shut down correctly and came back promptly after we returned and installed the new heater. The 2nd time was this past summer (2010) when we had an oven issue. Again, the service was fast, quick and relatively inexpensive.

When our water heater exploded, we were considering getting a new unit from Lowe's or Home Depot. Fortunately I called Ridgeway. They were able to come the same day. Very friendly, efficient, communicative, and honest. Highly recommended.

Everything went well. They had an angie's list coupon which I used for a discount. They removed my old tank and put in a new one with an expansion tank. I used them because they actually gave me a quote on the phone rather than playing the standard plumber's game of "we price by the job and can't tell how much it will be until we get there". They gave me a ballpark idea of how much it would be on the phone and it wound up being pretty right on when they got done. They seemed honest and straight forward. I would def use them again.

Purchased a 15-year old home in November 2009. Three weeks into it, and we had sewer problems. Wife called to explain that sewage was flowing on the yard. Luckily, the exterior clean-out by the house hadn't been properly secured, so when the system backed up, it went up and out onto the yard instead of into the house. Went back and forth with American Home Shield and their bevy of contractors. None fixed the problem. Called Fulton County and had them come inspect it (as they won't allow others to do the work if it is the street area). They put a camera down the sewer line from the street and located the blockage. It was in my yard, so was on my dime. Called several companies for verbal quotes. Ridgeway was one of the cheapest and was highly rated by Angie's List. Two men showed up and also camera'd the line to confirm the location. They used a small digger to dig down to the area, and hand dug as necessary. In the process, they found a second exterior clean out (closer to the street) which had been compacted by some piece of power equipment. This then caused the line to break and allow the tree roots to enter. They were careful with their work, and, given that it was in a bedded area around a tree (versus in the open yard), you couldn't even tell the work was done. Works well to this day. They gave me a 10-year warranty on the work as well, should we have any further problems in this area. Tough to pay that much for a repair, but, considering the alternatives and the professionalism which they demonstrated, I was happy. Thanks Ridgeway!

We had a toilet break while we were away and it flooded our house and it was awful. It was 16,000 gallons of water that went through our house. They were nice and it was the Friday before labor, so they did not get there until 6 o’clock and they made it out. We called them on Wednesday and they were out on Friday, but they were a little late. The toilet they replaced was an elongated bowl, so the floor wasn’t leveled.

The work is horrible. Yesterday I pulled out the rest of the abandoned PVC from my basement crawl space. It was making it impossible to get to my furnace. The steel pipe they replaced is just hanging. The pipe is disconnected here and there so sections of pipe hang haphazardly. The PVC that was put in is questionable. The water pressure is 30% then what I had. This was not mentioned when I agreed to PVC pipe. They left broken drywall. Did not remove anything. The wall connections that go to the sinks, showers and to the outside water spigot are not anchored. If you touch them the pipe just wobbles. I guess the joints are good because the wobble is such that I would expect a leak. The plumbers were not certified. There was a whiskey bottle in the basement when the job was finished. When brought to their attention the comment was; the PVC glue is just awful to smell, that probably why they were drinking. I hope this saves you money I would never hire them again.
