The representative called back withing 30 minutes and assured me he could get to my house in less than an hour. He got to my house within that time frame. Mike was very respectful; he encountered a few problems with the toilet but was able to solve them. He placed the old toilet at the curb for city pick up and advised me to have somebody put caulk around the new toilet because the flange made it tumble a little. I thought that was odd but he was soooo good with the rest that I did not make a fuzz about that detail.
Description of Work: They changed the garbage disposal and the toilet from a regular toilet to a chair high new one.

+ -1 moreI can't say enough good about Alan. I had a major emergency on my hands with a blown out hot water heater. Alan tried to find one of his employees to do the job but could not and on a Sunday afternoon he came out himself and did the job. He even picked up the new water heater. Alan also noted that it would cost less if I could wait until Monday but of course my wife couldn't. The installation was a bit difficult due to the old water heater being an odd size but Alan came through with a clean/expedient job and for a fair price as well. Overall a very good experience.

+ -1 moreEverything went well. Our water line broke at 7 pm and we had no water. We called Ridgeway at 8 am the next morning and they were here by noon. Our waterline was going through an old construction pit that was sinking and that's what broke the line. Ridgeway replaced the whole line and moved it out around the area that was sinking so we shouldn't have trouble in the future. They did hit my irrigation system, but quickly repaired it and made sure it was working before they left. They were done in about 3 hours and did a great job.

+ -1 moreWe called for an estimate. Ridgeway responded immediately and came out early the next morning to investigate. They brought 2 vehicles, one was towing a back-hoe. The initial estimate was FREE. We agreed to a price and they began work. They had to dig about 5 feet down to expose the pipes which were determined to be broken in many places and fighting with tree roots. They replaced all pipes and cleaned up the yard upon completion. Except for the hay which now covers our yard, you'd never know they had been there.
Description of Work: We were having continual "stoppages" resulting in sewage back ups inside the house. Ridgeway came out and discovered many feet of broken sewage pipes. They replaced the pipes and cleaned up the yard and covered the muddy areas with hay upon completion of the job. The entire job took approximately 10 hours to complete. Final price was more than original estimate due to extensive pipe damage due to so many tree roots.

Description of Work: Our main water line from the street broke and we had no water at all. We called Ridgeway first thing in the morning and they were there by noon. We had developed a sink hole in the front yard and they quickly found that our pipes went right through it. They replaced all the pipe from the meter to the house and moved the line so it no longer went anywhere near our sinkhole.

Description of Work: Needed the pipes snaked, but luckily they had the cool camera to see what the problem was. My river birch had broken the pipe in 2 places which we never would have known otherwise. They dug a trench around the tree (the original one was directly under it), and replaced 10' of pipe the same day, on a Saturday.

He warned us that it was possible he may have to take the toilet apart if the auger didn't work. But, that wasn't necessary & the cost of his visit was what we were quoted. He was very honest.

He was excellent, as the job spanned perhaps over 6-7 weeks because of the parts. He took great care in doing the job right & was very clean. He knows his plumbing.
Description of Work: We had a vessel sink that needed to be installed, along with all of the faucets & plumbing. This wasn't ordinary Home Depot stuff but a very expensive custom sink & custom faucets.

+ -1 moreWe discovered that we had a break in our main water line on a Thursday and spent that morning getting estimates and having the utility lines marked. We had turned off the water to the house because the break appeared to be near the foundation and we didn't want to have a flood in the basement. We didn't want to go the whole weekend without water, or pay a lot more for the work to be done on a weekend, so we were in a hurry to hire someone. Alan Ridgeway was one of the people we called, and the only one who guarantied he could do the work the next day. He also matched our lowest bid. His employee Sal and another worker arrived promptly at 7am the next day and did the job in about 3 hours. They were able to thread the new pipe through the existing pipe, so they didn't have to trench under the sidewalk or driveway. Sal and his worker got the job done quickly and my hydrangea that he had to dig up and replace appears to be none the worst for wear.
Description of Work: Replaced main water line from meter to house. Replaced with P.E. pipe.

+ -1 moreI knew I had a leak when I got my water bill--but I had no idea where it was. The plumber sent by my home warranty company determined it was not inside the house, but outside, which meant they would not cover it. They sent another company out to do the "leak detection," which of course just meant that guy told me the same thing, "It's in your yard, ma'am." After calling five different plumbers, Alan was one of a very few who would actually do a FREE estimate. It took a few days to get the estimate done, but he was able to get the work performed the next day after that, and I didn't even have to be home. Their estimate of the work was the lowest, and they clearly have lots of experience replacing blue poly. The real verdict will come when my next water bill comes in (what will it read), but right now I am pretty satisfied. Plumbing sure is expensive, isn't it? Call Alan; he'll take good care of you. Plus they have an Angie's List coupon. Who can beat that?
Description of Work: They replaced my water line from the meter to the house. They actually moved my water line, which went under my neighbor's yard, so that instead it travels almost exclusively under my property.

+ 0 moreI HAD NO PROBLEM REACHING THE OWNER WHO WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS. SALVADORE ARRIVED THE NEXT A.M. 10 MINUTES EARLY. HE GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE WHICH DID NOT SEEM OUT OF LINE AND GAVE ME A 10% ANGIE'S LIST DISCOUNT. HE SAID IT WOULD TAKE 3 HOURS MAX AND HE WAS DONE IN LESS THAN 3 HOURS. WE HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE WORK AND HE TOOK REASONABLE CARE TO AVOID DAMAGE AND/OR MESS.
Description of Work: THEY REPLACED THE POLYBUTYLENE MAIN WATER LINE FROM THE STREET WHICH WAS LEAKING INTO OUR BASEMENT. THE JOB INVOLVED DIGGING A TRENCH FROM THE WATER METER INTO OUR HOUSE AND REPLACING THE WATER LINE.

+ 0 moreI was dreading this experience, having gone through a similar leak in the same pipe when we first moved into this house 5 yrs. ago, having holes jack-hammered several places and additional charges added on many times, with damage to the home and an endless mess to clean up afterwards. Ridgeway charged less than we were charged before for the same kind of work, did a vastly superior job, did not attempt get inside the door and rack up additional charges. The work was done within a couple hrs. They cleaned up. We asked for an estimate to re-pipe the house, which Mike gave us, but he didn't bring it up, I did, and he didn't try to scare us into having more work done. Considering we had a terrible situation, couldn't be happier with how Ridgeway helped us get it resolved.
Description of Work: We had a slab leak in hot water pipe and wanted a new water heater, plus leak repair. Alan Ridgeway answered phone and I described history (2nd leak in this pipe, hot water shut off completely when I called). He gave a good quote, and wanted us to get additional. Leak detection to locate leak, which we did, although that took several days. Alan scheduled the work to suit my needs (p.m.), and Mike came wearing booties(a little late, but OK with me), put plastic down on hardwood floors, pulled carpet back, put plastic over carpet, jack-hammered a very small and neat hole into slab, located leak, repaired it, cleaned up completely. Ryan brought new Rheem Fury 40 gallon water heater, drained old one (to street, explaining water not suitable for plants), installed w. heater plus new inlet shutoff valve and replaced valve feeding into w. heater which had worn out at no extra charge. Both Mike and Ryan were very professional. Ryan suggested we drain new w. heater 1/yr. to extend its life.

+ -1 moreMy call was returned quickly and the technician actually came before our scheduled appointment (calling first). He solved the problem and worked quickly. He took care to protect the floor but left the pieces he replaced in a bucket of dirty water (from the leak) under the sink.
Description of Work: The technician fixed a leak under our kitchen sink. Because of the way the plumbing was put together in the past, the technician had to connect 1 1/2 in pipes to 2 in pipes and make a few twists and turns to make it all fit.

+ -1 moreThe guy was very nice and basically he did what he said he would do. I found out later that he didn't use the best quality pipe and he didn't bury the pipe deep enough. I am giving him good grades because he was on time and seemed professional. However, I wouldn't use them again.

+ -1 moreThings were finally resolved to our satisfaction. A job quoted for $4000 turned out to be $7000 with them having to give us back $1500. There were 2 different subcontractors who told us two different things regarding the plumbing materials we needed. If it wasn't for the owner of Ridgeway coming out personally, we would have gone to court. We threw the middleman subcontractor out of our house at 1 AM because they got there late to the job. This held up the electrician and sheet rock person. They even made holes in the master bedroom walls and cracks in the living room ceiling.
Description of Work: We had our master bathroom in our home redone. We had them do the plumbing in there. The job started back in October 2006 and finished in July 2007.

The owner was very patient with me and explained everything that they were doing. We had been through a bad experience with another contractor and this company made everything right.
