+ -1 moreThey kept insisting I had to come to the office to discuss what I wanted done, and I kept telling them that I work very long days and couldn't possibly get away. The person who answered e-mail must have changed three times. Voicemail messages were not returned. The guy who emailed me back in September was better, but I gave up because I have no way to get into their office for a consult. I've never had a handyman company insist on that before. It wasn't in the Big Deal info.
Description of Work: We purchased the Big Deal but were never able to redeem it.

+ 0 moreI purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List for handyman services. It took a little while for things to be scheduled. Communication at the beginning was a little sporadic. There were a couple of overlooked emails and I think they were going through some staffing changes. Once we had solid communication going things were great.The coordinator was so polite and respectful. He is very customer-centric and is an asset to the company. A supervisor and 2 workmen arrived right on time on our scheduled day. They did a walk-through and then got right to task. They were all so nice, respectful and professional. They worked efficiently and demonstrated confidence, knowledge and skill.They represented themselves and their company very well and took pride in their work. I will have them back when I am ready to do some additional work. I would highly recommend this compnay. If their other crews are like the 2 guys that did the work at my house then they will hit a homerun every time. Dealing with the crew and supervisor and coordinator was a real pleasure.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List for Handyman services. They did a great job on all tasks- added insulation in the garage, patched a wall behind the stove in the kitchen, repaired a window, caulked a bathroom, installed a smoke alarm. They were very knowedgeable and skilled. Great crew!

+ -1 moreIt was incredibly difficult to get this project scheduled. I'm sure this was partly due to the fact that this company had participated in the Angie's List Big Deal, so they were probably overwhelmed with projects. In any case, once we decided on the date, they were prompt in arriving, and prompt in leaving exactly at the end of the two hours I had paid for. The two things I asked them to do was to attach two already-assembled IKEA shelving units to the wall and to install a screen door. They accomplished the first project successfully in about 45 minutes. The screen door project was a different story. They could not figure out how install the door, and left it in pieces when they departed at the end of the allotted time with no suggestion as to how to remedy the situation. It ultimately turned out they had cut some of the pieces to the wrong length, and the whole thing was a bust. If it had not been for the purchase protection policy on my credit card, I would have been out of pocket $138 for the door. On the up side, the team who came to do the work were very nice. Unfortunately, I will not be using this company again, nor would I recommend them for anything but the most basic work - work I probably could have done myself.
Description of Work: Pride attached some already assembled IKEA shelving to the wall. They were also asked to install a screen door, but were unable to complete the task.

Description of Work: I bought an Angie's List deal and cannot get anyone to return my call or email. Initially they said that the services would be done after the expiration date and now they won't even respond. Obviously, not impressive since they just took our money and won't even return our calls or emails.

+ -1 moreThe Pride Residential contractor took the doors off, put on new sweeps and sawed down the doors so that they would open. He apparently sawed too much wood off and the doors leaked severely when it rained. I called several times and he finally came back again and did other work on the doors, but when the next storm came, they still leaked. I called 4 times more and made appointments with them to correct the problem but they would fail to show up. This was during the time over the summer when we had very heavy thunder storms. I even told them that I was afraid that my floors were going to be ruined, but they still failed to come. After the last big rain where they leaked and with my floors getting worse and worse, I finally called and asked for their bonding number so that I could make a complaint because my hardwood floors had now warped where the water leaked in. They then sent another contractor who did work on the doors and made the leaking a lot less, but there is still leakage on occasion when it rains hard. He tried to say that the leak was caused by something else, but I have had two contractors tell me that what he said is absolutely wrong and they demonstrated that the water was coming in where the work was done on the doors. I do not remember receiving a written warranty from them. I do not want to have to pursue legal venues just to get the problem corrected.
Description of Work: I hired Pride Residential to do handyman work. They spent the time assessing what needed to be done and then I had to hire them to come back to do the work. As I have explained before, I had French Doors that had apparently swollen and would not open.

+ 1 moreAlthough we had a little trouble getting on their schedule to have the work done (the company is very busy which must be an indicator of the quality of their work) they did everything they could to work with us and were very apologetic. Brian and Tommy who performed the work were very punctual (they even called about 15 minutes ahead of arrival time to alert us that they were almost at our home). The work was performed quickly, and efficiently and we are very satisfied with the results. Brian and Tommy were both very professional, polite, friendly and knowledgeable and kept the work areas clean. They even discovered an area under the kitchen sink where the pipe and some sink connectors had corroded and pointed this out and told my husband what parts he needed to get for the repair. They then worked on the other sinks while my husband went to get the needed parts and then completed the additional repair when he returned. Brian managed to repair the ceiling/wall crack which was in a very awkward area to get to. You could tell that they both enjoy what they do and enjoy working for their company. The work was completed within the given time frame and we highly recommend and would definitely use Pride Residential Services again.

+ 0 moreI paid $89 for $250 worth of handyman work, using an Angie's list coupon. The two technicians who came out were on time, clean, willing to tackle any job, and very skilled. They ran into electrical problems installing a medicine cabinet, under a light fixture, with old supporting beams and newer and older wiring, and had the skills and experience to do the job right and avoid any disasters. They cut a larger space into very old, hard wood, installing a larger medicine cabinet into plaster and had to use a series of tools and saws and did an amazing job. In fixing the plaster holes and cracks, they were very meticulous, and I could not believe that they could fix a hard, cracked, plaster ceiling, where the previous estimates I received were high, and the repair was excellent. They cleaned up behind themselves and both Steve and the other Handyman who worked with him were very polite and professional and efficient, they worked well together. I thought I had more work for the allocated time and I was prepared to pay extra but they finished in less time than I expected. They did such great work and, although I tried hard to give them tips, they refused to take a tip. I would call the back for larger jobs too because these two gentleman had a lot of skills and experience in many areas, including woodworking, electrical, and plumbing. They handled every problem beautifully.
Description of Work: Removed an old medicine cabinet and installed a new recessed Medicine Cabinet in an older house, fixed drywall in several places in the bathroom, filled in a wide crack in a plaster ceiling beautifully so that it matched the pattern in the 80 year old stippling, changed the batteries in my alarm system, and performed several other repairs.

+ 0 moreI hired the service to come work for 6 hours. The repairman came at 1:00 even though they were supposed to come at 1:30. They came in and asked what I needed, and I told them the main thing is I need a room painted, and several other things including replacing the doorbell and a few of the knobs replaced in the kitchen. He started with the cabinets and worked for 3 hours on the cabinets and painting. I needed the doorbell done, and I had to pay $17 extra for the painting, and the doorbell was never even started. While he was painting, I had just bought one can of paint for the ceiling, but he needed an extra can and asked for extra staining for the ceiling as well. When I got back he told me I should have gotten the oil based because it is better, but he never gave me those instructions. I had to call my daughter over to stay at my house with them while I got the paint which was a hassel. One of the men working on the knobs offered to leave to get the paint for me, which would have kept him from finishing the one project. The work they did was good, but they did not do everything I needed.

+ -1 moreI took one of those Big Deals from Angie's List. The initial walk-through visit was fine. However, the owner (can't think of his name now) was very difficult to reach after that. I had to call him several times to schedule the work. I also asked for some paperwork, but never received that. His voice mailbox was often full, so I couldn't even leave a message. The crew that showed up did a pretty good job. They were nice, professional, and courteous. Though I had to call them back to fix a leak in the shower door. Since then, it still leaks, but I added some more sealant to reduce it. This one is a little hard to figure out exactly where the water is coming from. The crew did an estimate for some additional work, but I have yet to receive any paperwork for the estimate. For the Big Deal price I paid, it was worth it even with the communication problems. I doubt that I would call them back unless the owner becomes more responsive and starts showing some paperwork.

Description of Work: I have had great luck using Angies List but by far this was the worst company I have ever delt with. I signed up for the Big Deal of 3 hour of handyman service with 2 men. I wanted my kitchen trim painted on the ceiling as well as my ceiling painted.. I had to cancel the intial appt. because I had to go out of town. When I got back I wanted to reschedule, but Mike, despite nurmerous, phone calls refused to call me back. I finally called the main line and got a date (did not talk to Mike, but I was told I had already cancelled 3 times. Huh? I could not even get the guy to have the common courtesy to call me back. How could I reschedule and cancel 2 more times?) I was told only needed to supply the paint. When the workman got here. One had to leave to go to Home Depot to buy brushes and rollers to do the work. Thereby, leaving me with one man to do the work when the deal was for two. I had to supply the plastic to protect the room too.. The men were very nice and polite, but had no supplies with them. My ceiling was primed but not painted with the color I gave them, but instead was just given two coats of prime. When the 2nd coat of prime was not needed and I could have gotten the right color of the ceiling . Needless to say, not much work was accomplished and i will have to pay someone else to do the work. I never did receive my estimates for taking down my wall paper in 4 bathrooms. This company is horrible. The worst in customer service and did not supply the items that were suppose to supplied to get the job done.. I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone

Description of Work: I signed up for the "Big Deal" back in the winter for 3 hrs of work for $89, saw that this company had an A rating and one of the top companies. I set the appointment, got canceled because of traffic, even though the office is 1 mile away. Reset the appointment, Michael came out on time, went through the check list to make sure it was what I wanted. Felt comfortable with the appointment, said he would have a estimate back in about 3 days. After two weeks, I called and left a message, he returned the call and said he had been sick and would get it back in a couple of days. Two weeks later, no estimate, sent an email, responded with an apolgy and said the estimate would be emailed in a couple of days. It has been two weeks again, no reponse to last email. I have to assume they have been too busy with all the coupons with Angie's List and Kudzu. I have noticed they have gotten a few "F" s lately due to no call back, my suggestion would be to go the next one on Angies List, they may have time for you.

They sent a gentleman before to make an assessment of what the needs were and the skills needed in terms of the handymen. They came prepared to do that. I think one guy was the leader and the other his assistant as he had different kinds of skills and the assistant seemed new on the team. It was a deal for three hours of work and I think they gave me a bargain because they were two guys. It was like paying for 6 hours of work but then maybe the one guy was just new. He certainly did some work and I think I got a good deal. I liked them and I would call them back again.

+ 0 moreOn April 9, we pre-paid for 6-man hours of service for $89.99 with Pride Residential using an Angie's List coupon. We waited two weeks before calling to schedule the service. But for the fact that this company did not respond to our mulitple calls to schedule the service, they would have received an A for Overall Experience. Over a two week period, my husband called multiple times and I called once and I also sent an e-mail. On May 6, they FINALLY called us back after our 5th call. We requested service for either 5/9 or 5/13. They called back later that day and set an appointment for 5/9 @8:30. They were very punctual on the date of service - 3 guys came instead of the normal 2 man crew as one was "in-training". We had a punch list printed up and gave it to the head guy and he checked off each when completed. The service was top notch, especially for the amount of work they did in that 3-hour period.. The only other thing to mention was that the lead guy said fixing the sink is going to require a kitchen cabinet company which the representative promised he would e-mail the name of a company who could do the work. Did not follow through with this. Guess we will use Angie's list to try and find someone to fix the sink and level the counter back down. . He hasn't.

The Pride team called me back within 1 day and then we exchanged some phone calls to get Chris scheduled to stop by and review the work I needed completed. As my work items were not crticial, we decided that it would be fine to schedule these 3 - 4 weeks out due to the volume of requests the team had received. About 4 weeks later, I received a follow up call from Chris to get my items scheduled and the team arrived on-schedule the next week. The work team were all very professional and on-time. They completed my work items quickly and completely and asked if there were any other items that needed attention. They cleaned up properly and I am happy with the quality and completeness of the work.
Description of Work: My work consisted of an exterior light that needed some work and some interior repair on a staircase that was loose and becoming an issue. These were both minor items, but there were some details - like the exterior light wall attachments were broken inside the wall and the staircase pieces were not well-matched which made the repairs difficult for me to complete myself. The team completed the work as needed, and they had to make a few small customized attachment pieces which they were able to do - and were the keys to completing hte exterior light task. The stair rails are firm now. I'm very satisfied with the work.

+ 0 moreA representative came out first to take a look at my jobs and make sure we had all the supplies we needed. He was very helpful in establishing what could be done in the six hours alloted in the coupon. We were able to include more projects that I thought would be possible in the time frame! Unfortunately it took longer than I expected to get the service scheduled after that initial meeting. I think the contact was a bit overwhelmed by the response to the coupon offer, and this may be slower than usual. He also told me that they had had a robbery and he was dealing with the repercussions of that. When the handymen came out for the day of work, they were very helpful and professional. We ran into a few unexpected problems and they were able to quickly solve them all. For example, Bryan took the initiative to shorten the doors I had purchased when they were hanging up a bit on the carpet. Since they were training someone new, I actually wound up with three handymen for three hours, rather than the promised two! So it was truly a great deal. Even at the regular price this service would definitely have been worth it. I defintely recommend Pride Residential Services and will use them again.

Angie's List had a special that they ran where I paid for it on the website and Pride Residential Services was supposed to come out and do the work. I paid around $89.00. It looked pretty good when they came out to look at the work that needed to be done. They had a nice brochure and a nice presentation. They seemed like a good company.
Description of Work: Pride Residential Services came out and looked at some repairs around the house. There were a couple of holes in the wall so they had to do some sheetrock work. I had also asked them to do some additional work on the outside where there was some wood damage.

+ 4 moreI first contacted the service provider in mid-April. Their message indicated that they would return a call within 2 hours. 3 calls later and 2 weeks later, I finally got a call. I talked with Mike. He didn't have his schedule in front of him so said he would call back the next day to schedule time. Didn't get the call, so I called him again the following day and left another message. 3 more calls later and another week later, still no response. At this point, I'm seeking a full refund for this Big Deal. That is the only acceptable resolution. The customer service and responsiveness is terrible. If this is how they treat potential customers, I have no confidence allowing them into my home to do any kind of work.
