The service was prompt and professional. The technician arrived on time and was very knowledgeable. The work took longer than expected due to special problems in working on an older home and had to be completed in two trips rather than one. The only disappointment was in the manor in which the office dealt with the paperwork for this job. We needed the estimates broken out into individual and HOA parts, but were never able to get the actual paperwork sent to us. In the end, parts of the job cost about $90 more than the estimate because they failed to include the pricing of the deadbolts in the estimate although they were aware that they were going to be replacing these. Although the amount of price difference was not large, I am disappointed that they were not more careful with the estimate and paperwork in advance. The owner did call to apologize for the error.

I did have Downs Safe & Lock Co Inc. redo all the locks in the house, they put a custom electronic key pad on the house they put a bar on the sliding glass door they did it all fast they did it all right, it was a great price and a wonderful experience. They were above par and they were excellent, I would use them again and I highly recommend them.

The keys that this company makes does work. They are professional. They do their job the first time itself. I have no complaints. I will continue to use them in the future.

They are very professional. The price sounds high but it's because I bought a sophisticated lock and that brought the price up. They have a huge inventory and options of security equipment. It's an old time place that doesn't look like it has been painted in 50 years but they have everything you need and they are real pros. You could hire them with their eyes closed, they've been around since 1937 and you can't beat that kind of experience.

The gentleman who comes to my house is great! He is very personable, yet professional. He’s always timely and efficient, and I’ll continue using him in the future.

I took the locksets off the door, took them to Downs, and they rekeyed and lubricated them while I waited. Their key duplication service is always spot on correct, compared to large orange home supply stores.

Called them, gave our location and described what we needed done. Let us know a technician could be here in 15 minutes and gave us his name. He was here in 12 minutes, ID himself and quickly went to work. In 13 minutes we had new keys and the locks worked better than before. I was impressed by the speed and efficiency, not to mention the professionalism. I liked how they informed us of the worker and how he ID himself when he arrived. We are very happy with the results and will use them again.

I was purchasing a home in Atl from out of state, found this company on Angie's list and called to have them come out after the closing to re-key entry door locks. They were very helpful and came promptly as scheduled, did the work on site and were professional.

The Tech was Steve. He was friendly, imaginative, and interested in saving us money. He was not interested in selling us expensive items. It was an extraordinary experience, and was one my best consumer experiences. They called to ask if we were happy with the experience the next day.

No one ever responded to my calls. Plus, I hired another company whose service calls cost almost half of Downs.

The deadbolt lock on the front door broke (an inner pin broke). I tried to fix it myself by getting a new lock from the local big box hardware store, but the hole in the door for the deadbolt was not located in the spot that the locksets you can buy at the store will fit and function. The locksmith was able to install a new lock and make if function correctly and securely without me having to replace the door.

They were minimally invasive, ie no drilling or anything.

Downs was very responsive. They came out the same day I called. The service technician examined the dead bolt and door and answered all my questions. It was worth every dollar I paid to get answers that I needed.

This is the second time we use downs - they replace all locks and fixed a badly-fitting door when we first moved into our home. Like the first time, I was able to schedule them for next-day service, were punctual and cordial. While the solution to our problem was unbearably simple (tightened hex screw, problem solved), we appreciated them coming out to take care of it.

Overall the experience was OK, but the reliability of the product is questionable.

It went very well. I was not at home and the technician called me and was willing to work with my contractor. He also gave us a cheaper solution. From start to finish, no hassle and a great job, great attitude.

When I called to schedule the visit, I, unfortunately, did not ask if there was a service charge. When the locksmith came, he said he had to order the lock, it would probably take a few days, then he would return. He charged $125.00 for the first visit. After several days, we called to see if the part had come in; the person did not seem to know what the locksmith had done. They later called back and we scheduled a time for the locksmith to return. He did return when he said he would, replaced the lock, and charged me $114.18 - this was without the service charge. I thought this was extremely high and will not call on this company again. They should also have called me back when the part came in; I had to follow-up with them.

I struggled with this information & when I got up on the day that the Marshall was to show up the very next day at 1.I went back to Angies List to find a locksmith company.I gave Angies List a glowing report on this on time locksmith that took my phone call with great courtesy & with some rearranging the person who took the order assured me that they could have someone there at 1 that day.That locksmith company representative.The report was sent to Angies List yesterday.Before the other company showed up,I called Downs to cancel-I told the person who answered the phone why I was canceling & she switched me immediately to the dispatcher to take the cancellation.She didn't say "May I have the Manger speak with you first or anything that might indicate that my cont. business was important.When that happened I decided to call management & tell them my story.I reported the person who answered the phone describing the circumstances.The Manager said that she gave the call to the right person.

Greg was on time, pleasant and professional. He helped me brainstorm the best solutions to my problem such as stolen house keys and several other lock related issues that needed attention too. He did an excellent job of carrying out all the work that we agreed on after a 15 minute discussion and house lock tour. He worked quickly but professionally, even staying to quickly do a few last minute items when he was under pressure to move on to the next client.

The company was very flexible and phoned me to see when the closing was completed so they could send someone out to start working. The locksmith worked quickly and independently, even adjusting some of the upside down locks. While the price seemed a bit steep, the quality of work was great and all of the locks work smoothly. Plus, it was great to have a company so eager to work with our time schedule, a rarity!
