Instead of Charlie confirming with my wife that they were going to be at our last residence at the appropriate time, she had to call Charlie to make sure that his crew was coming and they showed up 15 minutes late. Everything went down hill from there including the following issues: 1. The crew was rude to my wife from the beginning and even scorned her on a few occasions 2. The crew broke pictures, furniture and lost screws to furniture that they disassembled 3. The crew damaged the tile floor in our new home when they were moving into our new home 4. The crew refused to check the washing machine and dryer before they left saying it was a liability. Our first load of washing machine water ran flooded our basement floor because they had forced the drain pipe loose. 5. The crew ran over my new neighbor's grass with their truck and got stuck in my driveway. 6. The crew not only went through a case of water and a case of Gatorade without asking, they scattered the empty bottles anywhere and everywhere. They also went through a box of snacks and left those wrappers laying around. 7. They did not show up with enough boxes or the right type of boxes or tape. 8.When they delivered boxes to our new home, I asked them to stack the boxes neatly in the living room so that we could distribute them to the appropriate room later. We are finding broken items in boxes because they placed heavy boxes on top of boxes labeled fragile. 9. The supervisor of the job asked me to give him a fishing rod and I did because I thought it would incentivize him to move faster but that never happened. 10. The supervisor said that if I planned to give his crew a tip that I should give it to him because if I gave the money to Charlie the crew would never see it. The crew Charlie sent out has no respect for him and complained about him the whole day. 11. Charlie said that he expected the move to take 5 hours and it took over 11 hours. 12. Charlie blamed everyone including my wife for the problems for the move yet never accepted any of the responsibility. He constantly talks over you as if what you have to say is not important nor does he really care what you have to say. 13. I am still picking up trash that they left around my new home 14. When asked to come and check out the situation the following day, he was an hour late showing up and I believe the only reason he did is because I promised to sue him. Charlie knows how far he can push you and how the law will protect him so buyer beware. If you are planning on a move, please save yourself a lot of trouble and stress by using someone other than Charlie. How he received other favorable reviews makes me wonder if the reviews on Angie's List are legit.

Found Chandler Movers on Angie's list and gave them a call about moving my household furnishings from my townhouse in Atlanta home to my new home in Smyrna. We went over what needed to be moved and how many movers we might need. On the day scheduled, two movers (Pruitt and Damian) arrived on time. They were very courteous and professional. They made sure that everything was packed carefully and checked with me to see if I wanted any additional wrapping to make sure furniture was protected. Charlie Chandler also came by and helped with the packing. Hopefully this will be my last move but if I ever need to move again, I will definitely call Chandler Movers again.

They were very careful with all delicate items and explained how they would transport them to ensure they would be moved intact. Many of the movers were very courteous and made sure that my parents were comfortable during the process. The owner, Charlie called me periodically during the day to make sure everything was going well. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone I know that has moving needs. They made a very difficult move easy for us.

Overall, this move went really well. There were a few glitches but I think the estimate I was given was accurate and I think the crew was very good. Here's what I would underscore about this move...one of my favorite possessions was accidentally damaged beyond the point of repair (Big Green Egg) and I still would use this same group again. Charlie went beyond what he legally had to do to compensate us for the damage and I really appreciate his willingness to make things right. The good: -the crew did a very good job and were friendly. we had a lot to move, so it was hard work. -things went as outlined in my conversations with Charlie. -minus the one mishap, it appears that we moved with very little (so far no) other damage. -good packing allowed a lot to fit into two trucks, saving me a little extra money. The opportunities to improve: -we never discussed insurance prior to the move. probably something that should be in writing before the move. still, it's nice to know that Charlie will go the distance to be fair. -crew was a little late. that wasn't a bad thing in our situation as we needed the extra time. -if you (the person being moved) decide to have the crew disassemble and reassemble beds, make sure that you know and can direct them on how things are put together. that way you don't waste time (money) trying to figure out how to reassemble the beds. this isn't a complaint, just something to keep in mind.

The move went better than expected overall. The crew was not on time - 40 minutes late - which stressed me out but other than that it went great. Our movers were Mercury, Chris, and Jim and they worked very quickly to get everything loaded into the truck. We had lots of stairs for them to climb while loading and unloading and I was impressed that they really kept a great pace. Everything was handled with care which was appreciated. They worked very hard so we gave a healthy tip to each mover at the end of the move. I did like that Charlie Chandler did call throughout the move to check in to make sure the guys were not riding the clock at all and we were happy with the move. I also appreciated that texting was an option with Charlie prior to and during the move and he was very accessible.

My husband and myself were extremely satisfied with this crew. First they weren't only on time they were early! We had a lot of old delicate furniture and boxes and these guys took great care of every single piece. The first house has A LOT of stairs and the guys didn't complain once. They all moved quickly and were respectful to every family member they came in contact with. The lead crew member was very knowledgable. He even walk through the home with me before they left to make sure everything was exactly where I wanted it to be. I would 100% hire this company again.

My first complaint, in hindsight, is that they initially quoted me 4 men @ 150, but only 3 men showed up, so he charged 135. Given that the move took 9 hours, an additional person would have shortened the duration of the move significantly, so I feel like this was a bait-and-switch move. The movers were nondescript - not exceptional, but not bad. They did break a few items when they moved a box that I had packed and didn't tape the bottom, so that was partly my fault, but you could tell that the lead mover was annoyed based on the amount of tape he used to tape the bottom of the box -- to send me a message, very loud and clear. I would have rated this company between good and fair for the move in general; however, I am rating them as "Bad" given their response or lack of response. The movers packed a floor lamp in my vehicle and given the length of the lamp, they had to remove the lampshade in order to fit into the car. When I discovered that the finial was missing after unpacking, I called and spoke to the owner's and explained the issue and was told that Charlie, the owner, would be calling me back. However, he never called so I followed up and left a message. When I finally spoke to Charlie, he said that his mover told him he didn't remove anything; however, since it was missing, he would look into replacing. He said that he would get in touch with me to let me know what he was planning to do to rectify, but it would be a few days as he was going on vacation. It's now been 3 weeks since my move, and I still having a floor lamp with a swiveling lampshade... I never submitted the earlier review, hoping that Charlie would eventually send the replacement as he promised, but It is now Sept 15th and I think 2.5 months to send me a replacement is just poor service. I would not recommend this mover if you have other options available.

This review is not indicative of the service we offer. Please note that this lady did not actually use our service. If she called our number, she would have spoken to Janna. We would indeed have been fully booked through the end of the month of July and are generally fully booked for at least a week or two in advance for the intense summer months, barring a last minute cancellation by one of our customers. When a customer calls us we take a good bit of time going over all the individual items to be moved, asking detailed questions about each room, in an attempt to avoid underestimating the scope of the move. To avoid wasting a potential customer's time, the first order of business is to make sure that we are available for the date they are moving. Janna makes every attempt to be friendly which includes laughing, and she certainly did not mean to offend when she wished the lady good luck. We view every caller as a potential future customer, even when we can not help them this time around. It is of course, a good idea to call earlier rather than later, but we welcome last minute calls as there are sometimes openings even on summer weekends due to cancellations and postponements.

When I originally called around for my short notice move, Chandler Moving was one of the few companies that were available. I should have know why. The price quoted was based on an hourly rate but inexpensive. After explaining what items I had for moving the lady I talked with spoke of an estimated time alotted for the move as approximately 4 hours. The actual move took all day ---8 hours. On the day of the move, they loaded fine and timely. As it got close to the time of moving to the other location, they broke out the news that they needed to take a lunch break. This was not explained to me and I thought that the rest of the move could be done in a couple more hours then it would be done. Since they did work so hard in the morning I did consent for a lunch break and arranged to meet at the new location later. When I got to the new location, they were unloading and really started lagging. It took more time to unload then load which should typically be the other way around. I later discovered this was because they found out there were a lot of broken items and were discussing it with the owner on the phone for a while instead of unloading in a timely manner. What should have cost $650 cost $1000. When I talked with the owner about the broken items, he offered to repair them and return them to me as a solution. I agreed as long as he would return them to me repaired. It has been over 5 weeks now and there has been no call or return of my broken items. Later we discovered there were a lot more broken items then we first were told about. A large scratch on the dining table. A bookcase that had been punched in the middle of the back. An broken leg on an armchair. All of these items were not even mentioned by the movers as being damaged. For the amount of lag time that they had, they sure should have known about these. All in all a VERY DISAPPOINTING MOVE!!. I will never use them again and NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!! Still waiting for my items to be returned.

I am sorry this lady could not be made happy. Please read any of the preceding reviews for a better indication of our company's qualities. We made a detailed list of her items in a phone interview, which indicated about a half truck or less. She was located in a high rise with elevator and a somewhat removed loading dock, and she moved to another apartment building with a parking garage, an elevator and a resultant long roll from the truck. I suggested that four men might be safer to avoid going long (a fourth man is $20 or $25 more depending on distance from shop) if she had more items, or three might be okay if it was a complete list and she opted for three. I sent her three fast walking movers due to it being a long carry with elevators. I called to check multiple times during the load portion, and she stated that the movers were moving quickly. On checking with my movers, the truck wound up being full from front to back, as there were many more miscellaneous items and boxes than obtained from her during our interview. After running back and forth loading items into the truck for four hours, they needed to eat in order to have the energy to unload the truck, as the customer was moving into the Heights on Johnson Ferry, which is an apartment known for having long distances between the truck, elevator, and most apartment units. When we calculated her hours at the end of the move, I actually took the entire driving and eating time from her elapsed time, in order to avoid controversy and since her move did last longer than anticipated (due to the excess amount moved in addition to the long carries). She claimed two broken items at the end of her move. I let her hold the amount of $300.00, which was our limit of financial responsibility for her move, and told her we would repair the items, as that was her preference. I also told her that she could keep $100.00 of that after the items were returned, as a good will gesture for either miscommunication, discount, or inconvenience. A small bathroom cabinet had a crack on the front of a drawer running through the knob, and thin glass broke on a foam backed mass produced print also resulting in a chip on the frame. The movers should not actually have accepted the print un boxed but were overwhelmed by the number of items and did so to help her out. I got the items to the repair people four days after her move. She called on a Friday afternoon around five p.m. and I told her that I was in possession of her repaired bathroom cabinet, and that not only had we repaired our damage to it but also had the repairman lightly touch up some scuffed spots acknowledged by her prior to the move. I told her that I would retrieve the picture which hadn't been ready when I picked up the cabinet, but it might have to happen after the weekend as I didn't know if the facility was open (it wasn't). I thought she understood, and she was pleasant enough until I told her I would need to get $200 of the $300 damage limit back when we returned the items, and that the other $100 she could keep for inconvenience, etc. She then became irate and said that " all her items were broken and scratched, etc." I maintained a pleasant demeanor, stated that though it was usual for my movers to go months between damage (see all other reviews), I would be happy to look at any items to see if they were damaged. I think she put this review in on Saturday or Sunday, before the weekend was over. I had reached the repairman on Saturday who had fixed the nick on the frame. I offered to deliver the items to her on Tuesday when we were both free. She did not want to return the money, and I folded and offered her the repaired items and to keep the money also as good will, and that I would also look at any other claimed damage. I did ask her if she would withdraw this review, as she was getting money and repairs too. She said she would prefer to replace the glare free glass on the picture herself (I would have taken a couple more days to take it to Michael's where I'd been quoted $90.00). Although I was not obligated to repair it after giving her more than legally obligated, I told her that I might help with some repair nonetheless, and that I was interested in seeing them. She had claimed a broken chair leg, and I said that I would have that repaired, but she said her husband had glued it and it was fine. On the Tuesday after her phone call, I returned her items at the agreed meeting time, but she called and said to leave them by the door. I took pictures of the delivery and texted her that I was doing as she had requested. She never let me inspect any of her subsequent claimed damage. We always put three blankets thick on dining tables, and I was unable to verify that there was a scratch or if it could have been done by us. Her review was of course written before this response, and I had waited several weeks to see if she would correct this review to indicate that we did return in repaired condition all items that we were allowed to inspect, and gave her a cash allowance as well. As this has not happened, I am stating so here. The actual cost of her move, which did take 8 hours after we deducted the entire driving time, was $830.00, which is the amount of the check that we deposited. This is a very fair amount for moving a full truck load with a good number of unboxed items from elevator high rise to elevator midrise involved two long carries. We regret the rare occasions in which we can not make a customer happy. Ironically, as the subsequent "review" states, we are actually generally booked up with just a few openings left for several weeks in advance. I left this review unanswered for a few weeks at the expense of our reputation in order to slow the phone down so that we could offer quality service to our regular clientele. It bothers us when we have to say no to a customer. We are very proudly a small company with very experienced career movers and have resisted any expansion which would lower our quality of service. We do try very hard to fulfill move requests for our repeat and referral customers, some of whom are Angie's List customers with whom we have had almost entirely excellent experiences (see our other reviews).

This was the 3rd or 4th time that I have used Chandler moving, beginning back in 1999. Charlie is a very cool guy and is professional is his dealings. When I first started using Chandler, Charlie used to work the crews himself, and did a terrific job. Now, his business has grown and he uses crews to do the jobs, but the end result is the same. He uses very capable workers who are careful with the furniture and work at a steady pace until the job is done. No slacking here. The rpice was very fair for the job done. Would definitley use Chandler again if I have to, but I sure hope I don't have to move again anytime soon.

I am glad that the customer was satisfied with the quality of our service. He did have very little to move. Unfortunately, we need to have a minimum charge of $230 or a two hour minimum job for a multi-piece move to offset the cost of the movers and their equipment having to travel to and from the site plus the time actually spent on the move. If a customer can be pretty flexible about the time, we can sometimes show up after another nearby job for a little bit less, if the schedule permits.
