Al was terrific. He even checked out all our sensors and detectors to make sure they were all in perfect working order. Very professional and very customer service oriented. We've been customers of AMSA for nearly 10 years now and appreciate their consistent reliability and responsiveness.

Angela was very responsive when I inquired about the company and services available. She came out to look at what our new home currently had installed, asked about our needs, and discussed our options. She was great about keeping cost in mind and giving us several different options at different price points. We decided to install a new system and she scheduled that for us. Allen came out to install the new system and he was absolutely wonderful! He was professional, polite, friendly, and knowledgable. He made sure that all of my questions were answered and I knew exactly how to work the new system before leaving. Update: A while after the system was installed we were having trouble with one of the door sensors. Calling to schedule a technician to come out was easy, the technician was right on time, friendly and professional. He knew exactly how to fix the problem and was done in no time. Another great experience with AMSA!

We are new to home alarm systems and the tech took the time to explain how it worked and the various functions. Was very thorough and didn't leave until I was "competent" in working the system.....Overall, I would highly recommend AMSA.
Description of Work: Moving back to our home that had been leased while we were out of the country. Tenants had installed an ADT alarm system. On the recommendation of our insurance provider, we contacted AMSA....as well as other alarm companies. Robin of AMSA did a great job of explaining AMSA's plans and how they could convert the ADT system to their network....and the price was very competitive. Tech showed up on time and went right to work.....in roughly 30 min he had us up and running.

I was shopping around for security systems and asked the homeowners in my subdivision who they used and one of them mentioned AMSA. I invited AMSA and other companies to come and give me an estimate on installation and monitoring. Cynthia was my sales rep. She was extremely professional and did not pressure me at all to purchase a system. She answered all of my questions and gave me a written estimate with detailed charges. When I was ready to purchase, she came back to my house the same day I spoke to her and finalized the sale. The technician to installed the system was very professional and explained how to work the system. He worked fast, but not rushed, and was in and out within a couple of hours. Since I have had the system installed, I accidently set it off a couple of times and their monitoring center was quick to call to verify if I was alright. Very pleased with this company overall.

Cynthia came to a**** my security needs. She arrived on time and was friendly, professional and knew her job well. She wrote up a plan based on the information I gave her. I did not know that my house was hard wired for a security system by the builder! Allen came to install and found the wires all over my house. With my budget, I was able to get even more done than I previously thought! Allen did a great job of installing, he adjusted my bill and cleaned up afterwards. He explained the use of the system very well. I look forward to working withies company for years to come.

All of the people at the Alarm Monitoring Service are pleasant to work with. Al came out today and worked on the alarm with someone at the office. They had to talk over the phone to get all of the codes. They were efficient and worked longer than they planned to. They interacted with me and made it fun to work with them. They initially didn't plan to reset my code, but I asked them if they would and they did. I have worked for them before as well, and meant to call Angie's List about that visit. I would give them straight A's in every category for that visit as well. They are high quality people with high quality service.

After reviewing several companies we decided on AMSA. We set up a time to meet at our house. Cynthia Baker, the sales consultant, showed up on time and was very professional. She explained where all points of entry were and laid out a system for our house. She said they could have someone come out the next day for installation. The installation technician, John Kalena, showed up the next morning at around 8am. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He did an outstanding job and didn't leave until about 8:00 that evening. Once he had completed his work and tested the system he made absolutely sure we were familiar with the system before he left. He double checked our house for any trash he may have left. Both Cynthia and John conducted themselves in a professional manner. My wife and I were very pleased.

I just had, quite frankly, an extremely upsetting experience with this company. Their technician and even the supervisor were unprofessional. * From the second the technician entered my house, he upsold, upsold, upsold so much that I had to stop him (e.g. without even seeing the alarm, his comments were "If I had a house like this..." which of course culminated in a need for online monitoring, online alarming disabling, etc.). He recommended multiple fire alarms literally an arm's length apart (at $135 each) and other ridiculousness. * When he arrived, the first thing he wanted was a signature authorizing service. When I explained that this was an estimate only, then told me it was fine and went in the basement. I walked down to find him about to run wires and had to tell him to stop and that I wouldn't pay for any work until I had a price. * At no time would this company provide me a final price - just paperwork and piecemeal prices for a portion of the work ($40 for this, $200 for that, $135 for this, etc) The idea was that once I agreed to purchase the system, it may or may not cost more, and that I'd have to agree to a purchase before they told me the final price. * I told the supervisor "What I want is an estimate with a price. When I know the price, I'll tell you if I want the service. Can you give me a price without a commitment to purchase?" His response "We can't give you what you want." The kicker? This is to start service on a house I just bought. According to the previous owner, this was the company he used, which is why I called them! I assumed it would be just paperwork.

Response from Alarm Monitoring Service Of Atlanta
We did everything that we possibly could to accomodate the Customer wishes including sending a technician to his home on a Saturday morning at no charge, but the harder we tried the more irrational the situation became. He has a very old system that is no longer made and he wanted it monitored through his VOIP which is hit or miss with the older systems. We clearly stated that we would test his system at no charge and if it worked and it was compatible with his VOIP the total cost would be $40. The wire that he saw the technician running was to go from his alarm system to his VOIP modem so that he could tie it in and test signals. We explained the need for that in advance days before we ever arrived. We also told the Customer that if the old master control was defective or if it wouldn't work with his VOIP we could upgrade it to a Honeywell Vista 20P with two replacement keypads for $200. The only unknown was whether all of the wiring, contact switches, etc were still working which we wouldn't know until we powered everything up. He insisted on exact prices but not knowing the condition of the system we gave him prices for what we reasonably could and told him that if repairs were needed and it was more than he wanted to spend we would leave him a quote, and he wouldn't owe us a penny. The exact quote from our email was "you are under no obligation to move ahead with the activation if there are billable repairs or replacement parts needed to get the equipment working". After nine emails and several phone conversations he said that he understood and we set the appointment. The technician arrived on time and did exactly what we told him to do. The Customer approached our technician about what he would need in order to add fire protection, not the other way around. The technician explained what the fire code called for but told him that a monitored smoke detector on each floor would give excellent protection since he already had the ones that came with the house. The Customer said that he would prefer two upstairs instead of one. Soonafter Customer told the technician to leave. Typically we welcome a difficult customer because we enjoy the challenge of making them smile in the end which we are always able to do. In this case the harder we tried the worse the situation became. Unfortunate for both parties. I hope that the Customer was able to find a company to take care of his security needs and that his home and family are now protected. In the end thats what counts.

We recently reached out to several companies to get estimates for a home security system. After reading tons of reviews and doing some research we decided to buy our system from AMSA, and our experience with AMSA was absolutely amazing. The amazing experience began when their sales associate (Cynthia) came to our home to discuss our requirements. Cynthia was very professional and knowledgeable, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her on the design of our system (and how to install it so it looked nice). When it came to actually wiring everything up and getting it working, we were blown away by how awesome our installer (John) was. John listened to us, was VERY thorough during the installation, and took the time to discuss our system with us in detail. I truly appreciate the time John spent discussing the system with us, and I would recommend AMSA to others on this point alone. The entire experience from sales to install went pretty much perfect (one of the glass breaks had to be adjusted after the fact), and our home s now being actively monitored by AMSA. We accidentally set off the alarm once and the AMSA team called before I could get to the panel to reset the system. Yes, they are that fast!! We feel safer in our home because of the alarm system AMSA installed, and I have the peace of mind knowing that a top notch guy like John installed it! If you are looking for a home security system look no further. These guys are the real deal, and the hundreds of rave reviews speak to the quality of the work they do. If you decide to go with AMSA make sure you ask them to have John install your system. He did an incredible job installing our system, and I'm sure he will do an incredible job for you.

We moved our five stores and our office to AMSA and the difference in monitoring quality and reports was amazing. Operators are knowledgeable and committed to resolve problems. The local office handles issues immediately. They upgraded our panel boards and now can manage our systems remotely, and brought our old systems up to the latest bells and whistles, and it was not expensive to do the upgrades. The real-time web reports we get now are much more useful than the emails we used to get. These folks are prompt, professional, and how they do this for the best price beats me. With our previous alarm monitoring company, every little issue needed an expensive service call to resolve. AMSA can handle almost everything remotely and immediately. The most amazing thing is their price... we are getting all of their features, remote-access, real time web-based reports, cellular backup, all for less than we used to pay for basic monitoring (that was very poorly done.) All of our managers are happy about this but the biggest smile is on our Store Support Director - who no longer has to deal with our previous monitoring company!
Description of Work: They installed an entirely new alarm system in a new retail store location for us, including panel box, motion control, multiple keypads, and zoned door control. They also put in cellular radio backup to protect us against line cuts. They were able to remotely program our new system during the first few days as we discovered changes we wanted to make - no need for a service call! Their advice and installation was invaluable. Within a few days of bringing the new system online, we realized we needed to convert all of our locations to AMSA.

I went through several alarm companies before AMSA Inc. I have had them only for a couple of months. When I moved to them, they sent out a technician free of charge to check all my monitors and the entire system. They wanted to make sure that everything was in tip-top shape. The technician changed the batteries and he did all that for free. They only charge me $13 a month. The last service they did is something that they do for their new customers to make sure that they are starting off in a good footing. He spent an hour looking at everything and making sure everything was tip-top. I was very satisfied; I was thrilled with the service. The previous company that I worked with sold my account to another company without telling me so suddenly I was with a huge company. However, the company just completely just ignored me. I called them several times and they never came out. Then one day the alarm went off and I couldn't get to the phone on time so I disabled the alarm. I waited for a minute just to see how fast they called back and they never called back. So I called them to complain and they said that they never got the signal. I told them that there must be something wrong and that they need to come out and look at it. I thought they should come and fix whatever it was as per my subscription with them and they said that they will come out for a $70 trip charge and a $125 per hour, that’s when I moved to Alarm Monitoring Services Of Atlanta Inc.
Description of Work: I used Alarm Monitoring Services Of Atlanta Inc about a couple of months ago. The technician checked the key pads. There were a couple of trouble lights on so he reprogrammed my key pad to make sure that everything was working. He checked my motion centers and I have a glass break sensor that he checked. I have a couple of remote sensors that work of a battery, that aren’t wired and he changed the batteries in that. There is a central box in a closet with batteries in it, he checked that and made sure that all of it was working.

Called in the hope that I could get same-day service and they did not disappoint. I was traveling the next day and needed the alarm monitored while away. They promised that a tech would stop by on his way home from work and like clock-work, he did. He was thorough and efficient and ensured that not only the alarm system functioned, but made sure that I totally and completely understood how the system worked in detail. Upgrade and installation went very well.
Description of Work: They had installed the original system in my home prior to my purchasing it. I decided to have the system reactivated and called a few companys for quotes. Alarm Monitoring Systems of Atlanta came out, did an entire walk through and gave me a price for reactivation and monitoring, which was great. During the installation we decided to upgrade to a new Honeywell system which could be controlled remotely. The installation was performed without any problems, the new system is great. The technician was completely professional and thorough. I am very happy with the installation and the monitoring.

Work done in timely manner. Our only complaint was that there was a lot of yelling on the phone from installer to whoever he was speaking with because there was something not done correctly. Made our sitter kind of nervous. Don't feel that it's professional to yell in someone's home, especially with small children around. Otherwise, work done well.

VERY WELL. Service technician spent approximately 1 hour reprogramming and testing new services as well as explaining various keypad alarm codes. No complications and/or hidden fees. However, there is a Premium Service Plan (PSP) available for an additional $6.00 per month which is essentially an equipment/maintenance plan which covers service calls for repair at no charge to customer, which also includes "normal wear and tear."
Description of Work: CONVERSION FROM CURRENT ALARM MONITORING COMPANY (ADT SECURITY SERVICES, INC.) TO ALARM MONITORING SERVICE OF ATLANTA. Previously utilized ADT Security Services, Inc. for residential alarm home monitoring. Elected to switch services to a local company with mostly identical services for more reasonable monthly/annual fee than previous company. Since all necessary alarm monitoring equipment had already been installed and was comparable to Alarm Monitoring Service of Atlanta equipment, no additional equipment was required and/or fees. Service Technician was only required to reprogram alarm keypad and confirm successful programming to monitoring center. Decision to select Alarm Monitoring Service of Atlanta was also based on prior review of alarm monitoring companies on Angie's List, which reflected high ratings.

Beware of this company! These folks have a great gimmick: they lure you with low monthly monitoring rates, install unreliable equipment that they know will need a service call in a year or so, and then charge a stiff hourly service rate to come out and repair the inferior equipment they installed. Service rates are $80.00 an hour, plus a $10.00 trip fee, plus the cost of replacement parts for the inferior equipment! Unaware to my family, our Uplink cell unit stopped working in July 2010. In December 2010, we accidentally set off the alarm, but received no call from Alarm "Monitoring" Service of Atlanta. Two nights later, in the middle of the night, we got a call from the "Monitoring" center saying they were receiving an active alarm signal. The alarm was not sounding--not a peep! The next day, I called and reported those problems. A technician confirmed that the system was not working properly, and had not been since July! He basically said it was my fault because I did not test the system monthly. It makes no sense to me to blame the customer. If I test the system on the 1st and the Uplink stops working on the 2nd, I?m still without the security that I am paying for until I test it again on the 1st of the following month. What kind of a "monitoring" system do they have that can't tell my system is offline? A more security-focused system design would alert the monitoring center the minute the Uplink stopped working, rather than waiting for the customer to test it. In a subsequent call while still trying to resolve the issue, I asked for a refund for the 5 months of monitoring that I had paid for, but not received. I was told by Daniel in Customer Service that he could not do that, but could only give me a 20% discount on the hourly service rate. When I told him I?d submit a report about the issue to Angie?s List and the BBB, he changed his tune. He checked with the owner, who agreed to waive the $80.00 an hour service fee and $10.00 trip fee. They were quite busy with expensive service calls (as you can imagine), so they came out about 1.5 weeks later and needed to replace the Uplink at my expense, which of course was no longer under warranty. I said ?no thank you.? I?ve found another local alarm monitoring company that actually ?monitors? its Uplinks for failure to communicate back to their system. If a week goes by without communication, they are notified and then notify me. Also, the monthly monitoring is $2.00 cheaper per month! Funny thing is that Alarm Monitoring Service of Atlanta?s billing system kept working for the entire 5 months that my service was down! If they only paid as much attention to the security side of their business as to the billing side, their service would be top notch!
Description of Work: Alarm "Monitoring" Service of Atlanta installed an Uplink cell module in my home in 2008, and I have paid for monitoring services since that time. However, my system was NOT monitored for the last 5 months! Their monitoring is not so good, as they were blissfully unaware that my Uplink was not communicating with their system.

When I called the Member I explained that he had a defective cellular unit that had been out of warranty for approximately one and a half years. As the owner I explained that our repair rates were at the low end of what the market charges and I also offered to replace his unit at absolutely no cost due to his negative experience with our company. He was very appreciative of the call and very pleasant to talk to. We spoke again and he thanked me for my follow up but he had decided to change companies. In five years with Angies List this is our first negative review from a member, which is very disturbing to us, and causes us to want to work even harder to make sure all of our clients are pleased with the service that they are receiving.

Installed a wireless home alarm with a cellular communicator.
Description of Work: I spoke with Glenn by phone, we were purchasing from out of state. I set up an apt for a date after closing on a new home purchase, Glenn called to confirm and a technican arrived promtly on the date arranged. I was pleased with the installation and responsiveness of Glenn and the technician who did the installation. The installation took btwn 4-6 hours as I'd been told it would. There was quite a bit of drilling which the installer completely cleaned up behind himself. Very happy with the whole process!

Great experience. After They gave me an estimate over the phone, they scheduled the installation within days. He arrived promptly and appeared very knowledgeable.
Description of Work: I had a very old monitoring system that was no longer functioning. The company that I had been using estimated the replacement at $900. This company installed two new keypads, connected them to the old system and all is functioning well. The monthly cost for monitoring is also $84/year less expensive.
