We originally hired Bulldog Security to monitor our alarm, and they got bought out by another company and our service was transferred to AMSA. Now there's some kind of complicated relationship between Bulldog and AMSA. Once when our alarm was going off, I called and they said they saw our system in their computer and there was no alarm going off. But it actually was going off, and the computer system is just confused, and if you called a different number they said yes it was going off. There are multiple numbers for Bulldog and AMSA and you have to call the right one or you get the wrong info. In addition, when our alarm recently broke, it took me six phone calls over a day and half to get someone to even schedule service. Not recommended.

Signed up with them to monitor my existing alarm system. Rep never discussed contract terms with me. Instead, lead me to believe it was month to month. Lesson learned. Read the fine print. Their customer service is lacking. I had repeated issues with my system and it would take 2 weeks to get an appointment (if I could even get their service guy Kermit to return my calls - I often had to call 3-4 times over several days and would just get a message machine). The company also failed to inform me when signing up that if I called them out they would charge me $110 a visit as it was an existing alarm system and not one they installed (even though it was one they were able to monitor). This is something that should have been disclosed up front along with the contract terms. I am now having to buy myself out of a contract with a company who provided painfully slow service. I have now signed up with ADT. Free call outs, same day appointments when needed. I guess you pay for quality. Although in the case of AMSA it looks like I will be paying for the lack of it too. Big lesson learned.

I had several companies come out and give me recommended installation plans and monthly service estimates. I was very impressed with the salesperson, who actually told me about some inadequacies of other providers' plans for me. For example, ADT wanted to put window sensors on every back window. I didn't know it at the time, but I have anti-open devices on my windows, which makes needing a sensor moot. Instead, I went with AMSA's recommendation to put in break-glass sensors and mount them on the ceiling, so they could cover multiple rooms. While I ended up paying a similar amount for installation as ADT recommended, I feel better about the system in that it's more robust and safer. The management console is also really slick. It takes a picture of whoever disarms the system, which is cool. I have a lot of nice shots of me holding my 1 year old in one arm. We also changed the stupid slide show screen saver to the weather forecast, which is actually pretty useful. From an installation standpoint, it was really smooth. It took the installer about 30 minutes. ADT said it would take 8 friggin hours. No thanks. We have had our system for about 3 months, and we are very pleased. We don't use the proximity settings like I thought we would, because I work from home. However the mobile app is really easy to use and has quite a bit of of functionality. AMSA does white-label Alarm.com's services, but I'm actually ok with that. I'd rather have a really large company powering the tech infrastructure than a local solution. Economy of scale, etc. The one blemish that I'd say I experienced was the follow-up calls. They called me 3 or 4 times to confirm everything was ok and that I was happy. I'm like, "why are you calling me? If there is a problem, I will let you know." And despite them asking me to write a review on Yelp (which I thought was a little forward), I am still happy to do so because I'm very pleased with the service.

The product was installed on 5/20/16. As of 5/31/16, the product has failed to protect my home. The control panel and the mobile app indicate that doors are open, when actually, they are locked shut. The mobile app, PC and control panel have never simultaneously shown the same status for door sensors. The remote image sensors don't work and fail to capture images. Issues with arming and disarming system remotely. I've taken off from work, made numerous phone calls and lost sleep because my home is unsecured. Service calls for the tech to return to the home to trouble-shoot the system can take about 1 week, while your home is "unsecured". AMSA's system is wrought with mechanical issues and AMSA does not stand behind their product. They request that you pay in-full for the system. However, you own it, and there are no money-back guarantees for this junk. Out of frustration and lack of faith in the security system, I spoke with AMSA requesting a full refund and cancellation of service. Their reply - pay in full your 3-year monitoring agreement and we will terminate your service! I have to pay 3-years worth of monitoring service for a product that doesn't work? That's awful business practice and I cannot in good faith recommend AMSA for home security, unless you bring your own monitoring equipment to the table. BUYER BEWARE...do your homework and purchase a system that does not obligate that you keep their non-working equipment or lock you into a contract with sub-par equipment.

We have been very pleased with the service from all of the AMSA employees we have worked with - from sales, installation, customer service, etc. Our alarm has gone off multiple times due to our own errors and they have been very prompt in contacting us and making sure all is ok on our end. We are happy with our service up to this point and recommend their services.
Description of Work: We had AMSA install a security system when we moved into our new home. They were able to utilize motion detectors from the previous owner's system and installed an upgraded system to get us up and running. We continue to use them for monitoring services.

Description of Work: As the result of construction work in our basement, I needed technical advice on how to temporarily by-pass 3 zones from the alarm system and monitoring pad. Dan Reisman who is a service advisor with AMSA was outstanding over the telephone in talking me though the proper sequence to properly do that. His instructions were precise. I am extremely pleased not only with this specific interaction but really all of my past experiences with AMSA.

We used AMSA for 7 years. In that time, we referred countless people to this company. We left because the cost for the Honeywell Lynx monitoring in our new home was going to be about $120 more a year than their competitors and they couldn't match the price. I'm still amazed by the fact that they let a good customer who always paid on time leave over $120 a year when the only difference truly was the equipment and TotalConnect Service. Every other day their monitoring station calls to inform me of a comm failure on the alarm. For 2 months we've left messages, sent the requested "cancellation letter", and spoke with numerous people and have yet to get them to SIMPLY CANCEL our service. Just now spoke with Barbara, who got me in touch with Ronnie (supposed supervisor), who called me back to say he'd stop the Monitoring Station calls but couldn't speak to the cancellation (seriously?), who forwarded me to someone else who couldn't speak to the cancellation, who forwarded me to... click. Check out EMC; they're helpful and less expensive. In case anyone at AMSA cares, the reason you don't treat people leaving your business this way is pretty simple: I guarantee under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will I do business with AMSA again.

Been a customer for a few years and they are very responsive to alarms, but when you have and issue, good luck, you get the run around because AMSA is owned by My Alarm Center. They evidently do not communicate well with each other. My system was temporarily disconnected and they kept calling me telling me they are not receiving signal, I told them I know,and to,suspend my system for a while. They kept nagging me so I switched to another provider, but what hassle to cancel.

Home was already wired for alarm by builder. AMSA connected alarm service. Approx. 4 months later, we switched to cellular alarm connection and upgraded our panel. We have set off the alarm by mistake several times and have had immediate response by the central alarm station.

Larry was our installer. He arrived exactly on time, was very professional and evaluated the system. He determined that the unit should be moved to another location where the signals would be stronger. He moved the unit and checked the system and completed all of the work promptly and efficiently. We have used this service for several years and highly recommend it to others.

I sent an e-mail out to a number of providers asking if they ever upgraded systems as old as ours. AMSA responded very quickly that they could do it and offered a free consultation. Angela Strickland came out to the house, was right on time, and offered a wealth of knowledge to help us out. After walking the house, finding all of the sensor connections, and looking at the old control box, she called into the office and made sure that what they offered could work with our old system. Angela was competent and personable and very easy to work with. She was able to answer all of our questions, many of them before we asked them. After getting an estimate from another company, it really boiled down to Angela's knowledge and sales skills for us to make the decision to go with AMSA. Once we had made the decision, we were able to schedule the installation within a week. It would have been faster except our own schedule was already full. I received a confirmation call the business day before the installation. The installation was scheduled for an "all day" job, starting between 8 and 9 AM. The driver did not arrive until 9:40, a minor inconvenience, but was able to hop right in to installation, and he was finished by 3:30. He was able to install the entire system without having to use any wireless sensors, and the total cost of the installation was exactly what Angela estimated. While the technician did get my code set up, I wish he'd spent a little more time on teaching me things like how to set up someone else on a different code. Unfortunately, support like that is not 24 hours, and they were unavailable later that evening when I called for assistance. I did eventually figure out how to put in codes online, but would still like to know how to do it from the key pad. I am not faulting the technician for this, as I should have thought to ask him to show me. Overall I am very pleased with our service. I look forward to continuing to work with AMSA for monitoring.

The installer, Al Jacobsen, called prior to his arrival. He arrived early but called to ask if that was acceptable. He checked every alarm contact and corrected those that were originally installed incorrectly by the previous provider. Al installed the additional equipment that I had requested. He took the time to review the system with me and ensured that every detail was correct. I was impressed with the professionalism exhibited by Mr. Jacobsen. He did not rush the job and took the time necessary to do it well.

The home installation went very well. We have a dog that is incredibly friendly and the agent from the company did not mind his overwhelming curiosity while he was working. The agent conducted a walk-through of how to use the alarm system, as well as, a systems test with the actual service company. Any and all concerns with our alarm system have been handled through the company's customer service line in a very professional yet personable manner.
Description of Work: The alarm company connected to a system already installed in the home and added a few features that were not included. Since AMSA did not install the original system, the agent made sure all connections/sensors were working properly before he left.

Every part of the process ran smoothly from start to finish. Angela, the sales rep, arrived to my home on time, led me through all the different security options, and did not try to upsell. She was very low-pressure. Once my husband and I decided to go with AMSA, Angela was able to schedule the install for the next morning. The technician was punctual and worked efficiently. The entire install was completed in less than 4 hours.

So far, they did great. The guy who did the installation was excellent. The price was just what they quoted and we had a couple of false alarms and every time, somebody just calls the property within 30 seconds. They were attempting to send me a contract online and the contract terms weren’t matching up with what they were asking me to do. Once I told them that weren’t matching, they just sent me the contract hard copy. I signed it and sent it back in.

I returned from a vacation to find my home broken into and robbed. The thieves missed a few things, so I was anxious to get an alarm system installed before they returned. I called several companies, but felt that this one actually heard what I was saying. A salesperson (Angie Strickland) arrived the next day and educated me (I had never had an alarm system) and fully explained my options. We decided on the system to be installed, and she arranged to have a technician come the following day to install it. The tecnician (John) worked with me to place the item where I wanted them, and completed the installation that day. Overall, I felt that AMSA would do whatever it took to please the customer. Their rates are competitive, their service complete and professional. I have already recommended them to friends.

The technician was experienced. He ran into a problem with our former company not being listed in the directory of system codes. I was pleased that AMSA knew exactly what to do. He circumvented the problem by installing a new computer board for $50. Our former Alarm Company created this additional cost, not AMSA. The technician was on time and courteous and explained all I needed to know. He did more than one check on each part of the system. Angie's list prompted 2 months free monitoring in our first quarter. We are pleased.

I can see why this company gets such good ratings - everyone I dealt with was courteous and efficient, how can you say better than that? I had an existing Brinks/ADT system that was old and had become unreliable. ADT offered me their 'loyalty discount' of $181 to do the same - install a new panel plus two touch pads .This is $6 less than if they went out and had to completely wire a house for the first time. PLUS they wanted $35 a month monitoring on a 3 year contract. They switched me around to a lot of different people and decided they would 'generously' lower the monitoring to $29 a month. I said no, after 17 years I expected better. In my search for a new security monitoring company, I found all these great reviews here for AMSA and made my choice. Everything was done cleanly and looks fine. The only problem I had appeared that night when I armed the system. TOO LOUD! and I do not need it beeping when doing the countdown. I had thought that night arming was silent but I called the next day and Robin said she didn't know but she would sure find out. She called me back pretty quickly and walked me through a reprogramming of the touchscreen. Now when I arm it, it gives out a gentle chirp and you can see (but not hear) the countdown on the face. Also the 2 month coupon was automatically added to the bill with no fuss. Kudos to AMSA!
