Because of rainwater, my old front door unit had rotted and needed to be replaced. TDE Construction had one custom made from composites that will never rot. In removing the old door, they discovered that rainwater had been coming off my roof and running down behind the siding into the door frame. They first recommended a roofer, who reflashed the roof around my front door to direct the rainwater into the gutters. Then they replaced the rotten and termite eaten door frame and installed and painted the new door unit. Even though the job became somewhat more involved and expensive than TDE or I had originally estimated, I'm very pleased with the results. The carpenters and painters were professional and prompt and totally cleaned up after themselves. They and Tom Edge kept me involved and informed during every step or the repairs.

Drainage at rear of house under deck was corrected by: (1) trenching out soil and installing 4 (four-inch diameter) perforated drain pipes for a combined length of about 75 feet; (2) sod was removed in lawn area and soil was trenched out for installation of a solid four-inch drain pipe which runs about 25 feet downhill to tree line; (3) the four perforated pipes were then connected to the solid drain pipe; (4) trenches containing perforated drain pipes were filled with drainage gravel; (5) trench containing solid drain pipe was filled with dirt and covered with sod that had been previously removed. Net result: water under deck will seep into perforated pipes, enter the solid drain pipe and run to tree area located downhill from house. Area under deck was aesthetically improved by: (1) installation of 66 patio stones (18-inch by 24-inches each) for creation of a 30-foot sidewalk to two exterior doors and a 12-foot by 6-foot patio area; (2) installation of a new beam support for a porch swing; (3) installation of the porch swing; (4) spreading of 36 bags of river rock under deck to surround area not covered by patio stones. Water heater installation included removal of old appliance, relocation of new water heater to an adjacent area in furnace room and installation of additional in-line vents to bring new water heater to code and warranty requirements.

TDE was remodeling a neighbor's house and I asked for a bid after seeing their sign. They were much more professional than the other contractors I had asked to bid and I was extremely satisfied with their work--so much so that when we are ready for interior painting I will call them without asking others to bid. They did more than they were contracted to do (e.g. railings), got the work done in record time, and cleaned up after themselves. All work was done while I was at work and we had no issues at all.

I called a couple of companies off of Angies list as I do not know anyone in the area to recommend anyone to me. Tom was very quick to respond and give me a quote. He was very professional and was ready to do the work the day following my call to him with the go ahead for the project. I do not live on the property and received a call from Tom the following day, because he was at the job site and was unable to do the work since the association decided to do the roof (which we were only told about the night before it was done). Tom had his crew show up the following day to see if they could do the work, which they could. it was all completed and I had additional work that I wanted done to the decking in the yard. Tom had his crew out there the following day and had it completed. I do not live on the property and was very impressed with the way Tom was quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. I would recommend TDE to anyone who is in need of a contractor and plan on using his company again for future work.

They are still in the process and it is working out great. They estimated $2400. I am remotely having them do the work because I own a house where the work is being done but I don't live at the premises, but things have gone very smoothly and very good. They were very quick to respond and they had completed the work but I added something in there to be done so that should be done today and I will find out later if it is. It was very quick and I didn't expect it to be done as fast as it was. I have been communicating with Mr. Edge through email and he responds very quickly, even after hours, so I am very happy with that.

Our house was built in 1985 and we purchased in 2010. The company which inspected the house prior to our purchase noted a "swale" in the deck flooring, but due to a substantial overgrowth of grass, did not discover that many of the deck support beams were rotted off at ground level. In fact, the deck was unsafe, but this was not discovered until examination by TDE. Before work could begin, TDE built temporary supports to hold the deck in place while repairs were completed. The existing support beams were cedar, so TDE opted to cut off the rotten bottoms of these beams, enclosed the beam bottoms in a concrete "box" to a height of about 20 inches and then finished the exterior of these concrete boxes with brick that matched a nearby retaining wall. TDE also added additional cedar support beams under the deck which eliminated the "swale" in the deck flooring. Now when you look at the underside of the deck, you'd think the support beams were originally built that way as they look very nice. After examining the roof supports for the screened-in porch, TDE determined that many of the original 2x4s placed at short intervals for screen attachment were unnecessary for support of the roof. Consequently, we were able to remove most of the existing 2x4s and this uncluttered the porch in regard to our exterior view through the new screening. This "opened up" the porch such that it looks larger and receives more natural light. The aluminum supports/railings with a white baked enamel finish look fantastic and are easy to clean. Since this remodel, the screened-in porch has turned out to be one of our favorite "rooms" in the house. The previous owners had not maintained the exterior cedar planking of the house. Consequently, there was rotten wood as well as carpenter bee damage. Due to the porous nature of the weathered exterior, TDE recommended that we use a latex paint rather than a stain to seal the cedar planking. This turned out to be a great recommendation as the house was and is now the same dark gray color and you really can't tell any difference in appearance. TDE used sprayers to apply the paint and did a fantastic job. All downspouts and decorative porch lights were removed prior to painting and then replaced in their respective positions. Also, there was no "overspray" of paint on windows or porches. I highly recommend TDE Construction and Painting. They will not be the lowest bidder, but their professionalism and quality of work is exceptional.

The quality of the work is always exactly what you expect. It's done in a timely manner and the quote will match the price in the end unless you change things.

They did an excellent job in a timely manner and were very professional. I feel the charge was reasonable and the results well worth it. I would contract with Mr. Edge again. He is a pleasant, personable man to work with.

Mr. Tom Edge was extremely professional and punctual. We spoke over the phone and communicated after that through email. We were very pleased with the service we received. I plan to use his company again in the near future.

Because the house is older they had to test for lead. Lead was found in the paint and they removed the lead very carefully. They primed and painted the exterior of the house. They replaced screens on the large screened in porch and painted. They also reset some poles that had deteriorated that support the porch. They are finishing up all painting today. We are very satisfied with work done.

I have used TDE for painting, exterior wood repair, deck maintenance, interior carpentry work, interior electrical improvements, and the addition of a half bath in part of a mud room. My experience with the company goes back to 2003. The most recent work, as all of the earlier jobs, was of top quality. The business owner has extensive knowledge of the building trades and insists on quality performance from himself, his employees and sub-contractors. His personal ethical standards are evident in his behavior. He personally inspects all work at completion. Every one of the craftsmen he employs has been highly skilled and industrious. Work has always been completed promptly using quality materials. For example, rotted wood is routinely replaced with a weatherproof synthetic which is impervious to further, weather caused damage.I turn to TDE for all of my home maintenance and improvement needs because they have earned my trust.
