Cannot recommend Red Brush Services. I bought a special Angie's list deal for 3 hours of handyman services. I have left at least 4 messages for them to call me to set up an appointment, they have not returned my phone calls.

I had difficulty scheduling the 3 rooms of interior painting due to the fact that they were using the wrong phone number to contact me. I had provided them with my cell number since we were in the process of moving but they said they were leaving messages on our old home phone, which was no longer in service. After finally scheduling, I called and gave them my color choices so they could order the paint. On the day they arrived they came about 10:30, later than expected, and started painting. Due to the texture of my walls more paint was needed, which I offered to go pick up but the painter went instead. Later I did run out to get more paint for them. I paid for all of the additional paint. Although their paint job was good, it became obvious that they were not scheduled for enough time to complete the job and the scheduler/owner kept calling to see when they would be finished. On one call she talked to me and acted as if I had given them more work than I had contracted for! My offer was for 3 room of interior painting with ceilings up to 12 feet, two coats. They painted two coats on a small 10X10 bedroom, one accent wall in my bedroom and my master bath, not to include the water closet, 3 huge mirrors and a glass block window! This was NOT more than was contracted for!!! The painters were good but the schedulers made me angry!
Description of Work: Redbrush painters painted the walls only on a guest room, accent wall in another bedroom and master bath.

I bought this special (3 hours for $99, buy up to two) to get some of those "Honey-Do" things around the house completed. I purchase 2 of the Special Deals for a total of 6 hours of Handyman work. Within a week after I made the purchase I tried contacting them and had significant difficulties. Within a few days of the purchase i received an email from the companies local representative asking for me to call at my convenience to scheduled my Handyman appointment. Each call I made to the included phone number went to voicemail and I never received a return call to any of the messages I left. After a week and a half of leaving multiple messages and no response, I decided to call their Washington State office to see what was going on. They passed on my information to the Orlando office who eventually finally returned my call a few days later. At that time they apologized and stated that their phone lines had been hijacked by someone and they were working with AT&T to get their lines and number back. Someone was to call me back in 1-2 days to schedule my work. Too be fair, I must state that I did get an email from Angie's List stating that the company was having issues with their phone lines, or something along those lines. A week later after not hearing from them I tried calling the "temporary number" that I was given to me during the last call and got their voicemail again. Eventually, I was finally contacted by the local representative and was able schedule my Handyman appt. I was told that since I bought 2 packages that I needed to use them both at the same time, but since we couldn't find a date and time that was available of the upcoming month they allowed me to split it into two 3 hour appts, and we scheduled both sessions. On the day of the first appt I waited, and waited and called them after the Handyman was about an hour late. Once again I got the voicemail. The next day I received a call back and they told me that the local rep no longer worked for them and that they did not have any records of an appt for me on that date. He apologized and we rescheduled my initial appointment. This time 2 handymen showed up on time and we went through the list of what I wanted done. One of the projects was to cut and install wood shelves in my linen closet. They stated that they would need to pickup supplies and it would be better if they scheduled another appt to do everything that I wanted. They took there measurements and left. They returned on time the next appt day (without any of the supplies we talked about before) and started doing all the smaller things (installing dimmer switches, installing bathroom exhaust timer fan, removing an old lock that I no longer have the key for, re-corking shower mosaic tiles, installing new decorative door handles to the majority of the doors). One guy did the majority of the work, while the other watched, handed him tools, held items in place and ran back and forth to their truck. After 3 hours they packed up and got ready to leave hading me the evaluation sheet for Angie's List to complete. I asked them about the carpentry work that they were suppose to do. The main Handyman then told me that I had used all 6 hours with the tow of them and I would have to schedule another appointment and pay regular price. At that point after a brief argument about the amount of work done and the misleading nature of work, I completed their Angie's list evaluation (not very good rating) and returned it to them. I'm sure they probably tossed it. This company, or at least this office is very unorganized and not very professional for a service oriented business. The work that was actually completed was to my satisfaction. Everything worked as it should. I am happy that Angie's List did refund me for the second session that in my opinion was still outstanding.

I called the company twice to redeem my coupon, the first time the person they assigned to me despite having called him 3 times never got back to me, then, I called again and the lady that answered me said she would transfet me to another company, in the other company they told me to return my coupon so they could get the money fo the service, I did and they assigned another person to me who ditched me 3 times and on one fo the many calls that i made to him he finally asked me how I was going to pay I told him I had a special price offered by the company and he sais "oh well I hope you know the special price does not apply if I go over three hours, to which I responded that I was aware but that I knew that what I needed done would not take more than 3 hours and he never called me back, the lady that told me to give up my coupon called to follow up, I explained everything and TOLD HER THAT I needed someone to honor the previous agreement which I lost because she told me to return the coupon and she never called me back, ended up hiring another person out of Angie's list to come do the work and paying full price. I took this offer becuase the price was excellent and because Angie's list said it was a reputable company, I am suscribed on Angie's list to avoid situations like this..... No comment

I have been trying for 4 weeks to reach Red Brush Services, through phone calls and email. I went to Angie's list to see what might be going on with this service, and find they have not paid Angie either! I guess I'm out the $99 I paid for a coupon on Angie's list. Lesson: Never pay for a service before it is completed.

I called them in October and scheduled with them to do work Jan 16-17 th. We also wanted them to possibly do the entire house and we corresponded with Pablo via email. They were happy to answer my questions and very responsive at that time. They wanted to come and take a look first and give us an estimate and go over different options so they told me to contact them to schedule for that before our appointment on the 16th. I tried calling them 4 or 5 times and emailed them and didn?t hear anything back. I had Angie?s List get in touch with them too but still never heard back from them. I decided to cancel the Big Deal and do the work at a later time.

I'm not sure where to start since this is the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life with any company that considers themselves "professionals." As mentioned above I bought two 3-hour Angie's List Big Deals for a total of 6 hours of handyman work. Before purchasing the deal I called their 1-888 number and asked if this type of work fell under the deal since the deal mentioned light electrical work is part of the deal. They confirmed it was. So I purchased the deal and a few weeks later had them come out to complete the job. When the man arrived his name was Luis and he didn't speak English very well. I showed him through the house to show where all the plugs and switches were. There were approximetely 70 to be switched out. He called his boss and came back to me saying it would be an additional $43 for another hour worth of work since they thought it would take 7 hours and so I said OK. After 7 hours of work Luis had completed 15, yes 15 of the 70 outlets. That's it! I couldn't believe it was taking Luis upwards of 30 minutes or more to change one switch or outlet and I began to think he may not be an electrican or have any experience with eletrical and it started to scare me. It was then confirmed that he had NO idea what he was doing because of a few things. One being that when he turned the power back on after doing a few installations he couldn't understand why a switch wasn't working. He showed me something behind the switch and said "I've never seen this before." So after a little Googling and calling Home Depot I realized that he wasn't using a three-way switch and was using a regular switch. WOW...someone who is supposedly qualified had no idea what a three-way switch is?! C'mon. Moving on, after the first 7 hours and I was appalled that only about 20 of the 70 outlets were completed so I demanded I speak to a supervisor and I did, his name is Pablo who's name is on this Angie's List site. I asked him how in the world did they give me an estimate that said he'd be done in 7 hours yet after those 7 hours he was less than 25% complete. He really had no other answer other than to cut a deal with me that he felt it wasn't enough time and so we had agreed to move forward and do the rest of the outlets and switches for $2.50 each. Luis came back a few days later on a Saturday for 4 more hours and got a few more completed. Luis came out a third time when I was out of town and my brother was home to finish. He was out at my house for 12+ hours and STILL DID NOT FINISH. He had been at my house for about 24 hours and still not finished! Additionally, there were almost 10 instances throughout my house where lights were out and fans did not work because of the shotty work he had completed. Also, my cable completely went out and we had to have the cable company come out and re-wire my cable in the attic due to the incorrect electrical work complete by Luis. As mentioned, living room lights didn't work, my brother's bedroom fan and light no longer worked, master bedroom lights no longer worked and my office no longer had a working light or fan. Not only this but there were SEVERAL instances where there were upside down outlets and outlets or switches that were put on the wall crooked or with large gaps, very unprofessional. Once again I called back Pablo after this was completed and I was furious that not only was the job not done but it was not done correctly, AGAIN. This time I was very upset and let Pablo know this. He understood and let me know that Luis would come back out to finish and I demanded that Luis never come to my house again since he not only didn't do the job right but now gave me electrical issues. The very last time I ever spoke to Pablo on the phone (just before Xmas) we had come to the agreement that I would have a third-party electrical company come out to assess the damages and give an estimate to fix the problems Luis created and that PABLO WOULD PAY FOR THE DAMAGES HIS EMPLOYEE CREATED. Additionally, Pablo was to send out Luis to confirm the electrical issues that were evident were ones caused by him and not pre-existing. I agreed this was fair. Shortly after the new year I had scheduled a time for an electrical company to come out and give an estimate and I gave the time to Pablo via text and he let me know Luis would be there. Sure enough, Luis never showed when the eletrical company came out to give the estimate. I text Pablo letting him know his employee never showed and he never texted me back. Several texts and voicemails to Pablo went unanswered and I was absolutely furious at this point because Pablo was to pay for the damages. Long story short, when the eletrical company came out they said that the way Luis did the outlets and switches he had actually created fire hazards all over my house by doing the wiring incorrectly. The assessment by the electrical company was that they would have to redo ALL of the work Luis did since none of the work was up to code. In fact, the work was so poor that the guy who came out to give me the estimate took several pictures to post on his website to show how bad things can look if you don't have someone do the job who knows what they are doing. I ended up having the electrical company come in and redo all of the work over again. IT TOOK 2 GUYS A 5 HOURS EACH (TOTAL 10 HOURS) TO DO THE ENTIRE HOUSE. That is how you get things done. All in all, I lost out on $198 to Red Brush and had to pay another electrical company to come back in and do the job all over again all while living with a fire hazard for almost a month and having nearly half the eletrical in my house not working for almost a month. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I have since contacted Pablo numerous times and he will not contact me back. I have requested my $198 back and still not heard back from him. I am now going through Angie's List Dispute Resolution to try and get my money back that was wasted on this terrible work.
Description of Work: A complete switch out of all my old manila switches and plugs throughout my house were to be replaced with all new white switches and plugs that I had already purchased from Home Depot. I bought two seperate 3-hour Angie's List Big Deals for a total of 6 hours.

I purchased a coupon in October for 3 hours of handyman services. Right after my mother passed away and I have been tied up. I came across the coupon last week and saw an expiration date of 1/6/13. It also said it expired 6 months from issue. I realized there was a contradiction on the coupon regarding the expiration date. I left two messages on the 888 number on the coupon without a response. I then sent an email and haven't received a response. Depending on the coupon, I either wasted $99 since it expired yesterday or I have another 3 months to use it. However, since this contractor hasn't responded to me via telephone or email, it doesn't seem to matter. Please tell me what to do. Thank you, Kathy Bass

I did not feel we got three hours of service. The sink pop up was repaired. He had to go to Home Depot to get more parts. A spare shower head was replaced which required only to unscrew old head and screw on a new one. Master shower screws were tightened around handle that took just a few minutes. I wanted low voltage lighting installed on side, but he only had 40 minutes to complete job. So since he paid for the $8 part from Home Depot, he called it even and left.

Thanks for your review. I went above and beyond the requirements for the coupon. This customer did not have the right parts for the jobs needed, therefore, I took time to go to home depot, at my own cost (GAS & traffic). The low voltage lights she wanted installed required removal of the existing lights ( burried in the planters along the side of the home & installed new). As per the exclusion on the coupon, electrical work in not be included. The sink (both the pop up repair and the leak at the p trap), the shower head replacement, the 3 drywall repairs & the adjustment of the shower valve were done to client's satisfaction. As indicated, I spent gas, travel time, and $8 purchasing the right parts needed for this job. Happy Holidays!

I believe this is encompassed by the above sentence, but in a nutshell the workto be performed was, in my view, handyman work and in fact the same type of work had been performed by a previous handyman company I had hired through Angie's list. The total work was orally estimated at 4 to 5 hoursduring my meeting with the estimator and I was to get 3 hours for 99.00 total for the couponand agreed to pay for the additional work at their standard rate of 55/hour. In the estimate they submitted to me afterward online they refused to honor the 3 hours for 99.00 deal and estimated the jobat 6 hours at 55.00/hour=$330.00 less the 99.00 I had already paid for the coupon. Iwill not use this provider again other than if the provider agrees to perform this work for an additional 110.00 (99.00 for three hours and 55.00 for two aditional hours.)
Description of Work: the work has not yet been performed. This job is the subject of current dispute resolution which Angie's list has initiated on my behalf after I complained to Angie's list.

Thank you for your review. As we discussed in our meeting, the work were requesting was for landscaping, specifically removing wood logs along the planters in the back yard totaling over 500 linear feet of logs, disposing and installing new logs that needed to be cut to match the length and height. Also, the yard was "loaded" with dog's and cat's "mines". The proper thing to do was offer you our hourly rate for the 6 hours at $55 each and honor your $99 credit to the estimate. Sorry we were not able to meet your expectations, but landscaping duties is not a handyman task. Happy Holidays!

I purchased a coupon and still haven't gotten the work done. My coupon expires in January. He was supposed to do the work on Tuesday and he never confirmed the appointment and when I contacted them - "he forgot". Was supposed to call me and let know if he could do the work the following day - and never heard back..... I have sent them an email today 12/21/12 and awaiting a response. They responded quickly to an email the last time so I'm hopeful. He said he is very busy - but it's not good business not to call your customers back. I hope the workmanship is worth the wait. Will not recommend them. I will update review.

It took them two hours to realize one of the light kits did not fit the fan and another hour to install the other type of light kit. They were obviously not very handy. Said they would come back but decided to have my non-handy husband finish the job instead. The company itself was professional; the workers they sent were not.
