Well, this was one pesky ice maker I had in my KitchenAid refrigerator. Last ice maker was faulty and needed to be replaced, so they replaced it with a new one....which decided it didn't want to make ice. Over the course of about 2-3 weeks, the service techs had to come here about 3 or 4 times to try and get it working, to no avail. Realizing that things usually get done quicker when someone at the top of the chain of command is notified of a problem, I decided to call their main office and spoke with the owner Sam. He took a look at my service history and realized something needed to be done. And the solution was we needed another new ice maker. He assured me he would see it through to the end, and within a week I had a brand new ice maker installed and actually started working. The service techs were great, always showed up on time, every time and worked quickly. The only downside was the total cost of the ice maker and service (needed a new part for water dispenser as well), which ran close to $500. But, I am happy to pay the price for the results, and not having the hassle of dealing with an ice maker myself.

We would definitely use this company again. We had called because our dishwasher was making a horrible noise when running. We made an appointment for them to come out and take a look. They came out to take a look at the dishwasher. They were on time and professional. After looking at the dishwasher (and politely watching the video I had made of the noise), the were able to tell me what was wrong. Based on the age, original cost and potential repair cost, they recommended that we not fix the issue. They assured me that the washer was not a hazard and my best course of action would be to use it until it actually stopped working. It was great to have someone give advice based on what was best for the customer and not their bottom line. I did have to pay a fee for their visit, it was completely reasonable. Their honesty won them a repeat customer!
Description of Work: They inspected our dishwasher and recommended what to do next.

Spoke with Jay today regarding a Coffee/Grinder machine not working, He usually does not do such repairs, but took significant time to explain what to do and if any of his suggestions don't work out, call him back and he would "take a shot at it" .. I will definitely keep his number.

I contacted Dolling regarding a problem with my Maytag dryer, which kept shutting itself off after just a few seconds. They were very responsive, and their representative (Howard) came to my home the next business day. The Dolling representative diagnosed the problem within minutes of arrival as being a faulty board and sensor, and called Whirlpool technical support to confirm his diagnosis. Due to the age of my dryer (10 years old), the Dolling representative suggested that I purchase a new dryer rather than having my dryer repaired, as the repair would cost almost as much as a new dryer, and since the dryer was so old, something else could go wrong with it, and it could end up costing me more than a new dryer. The Dolling representative promised to get back to me with the cost of the parts so I could make my decision. I received a call from Dolling the same day with the cost, and the gentleman that called (Jay) also suggested that purchasing a new dryer would be more cost effective for me. I was very impressed with both gentleman and their professionalism and honesty. Even though they are in the business of repairing appliances, they made a recommendation that was in my best interest. I am very grateful to them, and followed their advice. I would not hesitate to contact them in the future for any problems I might encounter with any of my appliances.

He fixed and tested both appliances. They have been working well since then and it has been 5 months. I has also used them previously at the end of 2012 and they were very honest in telling me that my washing machine was on its way out and not worth fixing because it was not agitating properly. I would use them again.

Chris, the technician, appeared on time. He had the replacement part he needed. He very efficiently and professionally removed the freezer drawer from my Maytag French-door refrigerator/freezer and replaced the faulty icemaker. It was not necessary for me to remove the contents. He was also very personable and intelligent and it was a pleasure to have him doing the work. Since this is an infrequent repair, I can't say whether the price was more or less than others would charge.I would certainly recommend the company to others and use them again if needed.

I provided specific details about the problem I was having with my stacked washer/dryer (leaks water into the tub after I turned off the water using the on/off dial). On the morning of the service call, one of Dolling's technicians left a message for me to call their office with the model/serial number of my machine, which I did. The technician arrived later that morning and immediately told me that he did not have the part that was needed to repair my machine. I demonstrated the problem of water leaking into the tub when I turned off the water using the washing machine dial. The technician said if I wanted to fix it, it would require replacing a valve, which he would not have for another 2 days. I asked the technician if the "leaking into the tub" problem could be anything else than replacing the valve and he said it could not, so I did not understand why he came to the service call in the first place without the part, unless he was not planning on charging me, or, was planning on applying a service call to the total repair. The technician looked behind the stacked washer/dryer unit, which I had already pulled out for him, but did not touch anything. He began writing a service ticket and then asked me to pay $65, (which included the 10% off Angie's List discount). I asked him if this amount would be applied to the total cost of the repair, and he said he did not know and that Sam, the owner would have to call me. In a calm manner, I asked if there was someone I could speak with at the office right now because I did not believe the charge was warranted unless it was applied to the total repair. The technician said "There's no one you can talk to right now". I refused to pay the service charge at that time, as it was unnecessary for the technician to come to my apt as there was only one fix to the problem which required a part, which he did not have, and because he could not affirm that the service charge (which was unnecessary in the first place) would be applied to the cost of replacing the valve when they returned, and because he told me there was no one I could speak with at the office who could resolve the problem. He left and I immediately called the office and explained the situation to the customer service person, who agreed that my experience with the technician showing up without a part and then applying a service charge was not positive, and that someone would come to my apt on Thursday when the part arrived to complete the repair; I agreed to pay the service charge if it was applied to the repair. On Wednesday, I called to assure that a technician would arrive the next day and that the part had been obtained. The customer service person handed the phone over to her boss, Sam, the owner, who told me that when the technician returned and said I would not pay the service call, that he decided he was not going to repair my machine. I told him that the communication in his office was poor because I had initiated a call with his customer service person on the morning of the incident. At first, Sam insisted that he did business like this for 30 years, and he wasn't going to change, then he agreed that since I spoke with someone in his office, they had made a mistake. While I was on the phone with Sam, he spoke with his customer service person and told her she should have told him that I had called to resolve the problem. At this point, I was still willing to let them repair my machine, because I've never not paid a service repair person in my life, and I felt that the technician had made a mistake by coming to my apt if he didn't have the part, and/or that there was probably a misunderstanding about the service charge between the technician and the owner. However, Sam insisted that he would not come back with the part to repair my machine until I paid his $65 service charge, because that's how he has always done business; he claimed that when other companies apply the service charge to the total repair that they just charge the customer double; however, that has not been my experience. At that point, I decided that I had given this company every opportunity to improve the customer service/service charge policy issues and I ended the call by letting Sam know I would write a review of my experiences on Angie's list. Despite Dollings Appliance's "A" reputation on Angie's list, they earned an "F" with me.
Description of Work: On Monday, 5/20/12, a customer service person from Doling's appliance took my request for a washing machine that was leaking into the tub after shutting off the machine at the dial. I was provided with a next-day appt time, which was prompt. Tuesday, the morning of the service, the technician left me a message requesting that I call the office with the model/serial number of the washing machine/dryer unit, which I did. However, the service technician showed up later that morning and immediately announced that he did not have the part, he observed my demonstration of the problem and said it would require replacement of a valve (the part) if I wanted to repair it, which I did. I had already pulled out the unit for the technician, and the technician walked behind and looked behind the unit, but did not pull out any panels, etc, he just looked at the back of the unit, then returned to the front of the unit and started writing up a service charge ticket; he did not spend more than 7 minutes total in the apt and did not add to any new information to his "diagnosis" beyond what he already knew by phone, which was that he would need a part to repair the problem I had described by phone.

I called on Friday morning and the person on the phone told me that someone could come on Monday morning between 8-9 AM. Less than a half hour later, they called back and said that a service technician could come out today and they arrived about an hour later. Everyone I spoke with was courteous and informative. The technician was able to diagnosis the probelm immeadiately and repair it in just under an hour. I couldn't be happier. I would definitly recommend this company.

Showed up on time, quickly diagnosed the problem with our Sub Zero ice maker, and fixed it without trying to sell us a new one.
Description of Work: We called because of a problem with a Sub Zero ice maker. Imagine our surprise when the technician told us that it was just a minor adjustment and that we didn't need a new ice maker as we feared! Hundreds of dollars saved, and we could have easily been duped! We also ordered a new door gasket to replace the original one in our refrigerator which is now 30 years old!

Very happy with their service. As stated because of age of stove the parts were not on the truck for the immediate repair, but they ordered parts in a timely manner and returned to complete repair. The washer was repaired on the second visit after the estimated repair, again, had to order parts for the repair.
Description of Work: I have used these people twice, once for a Washer Problem and a Stove Problem. Estimate was given on first visit but because of sepiality parts for washer and the age of the stove they did not have the parts to repair had to order parts and return to repair, this was expected. Second time was for a Dishwasher problem which they were able to repair on site with no return visit required. Very happy with their service and cost.

Description of Work: LOVE these people! Replaced a pump in our built in ice maker. Showed us the defective part and didn't push to sell us us a new unit. Work was done neatly & quickly. Recently our dryer wasn't drying clothes fast enough. Was taking an hour to dry sheets. We called to make an appointment for service and was orginally given an appointment 5 days later. We called back and asked for an appointment sooner and the repair man was here within hours, which we appreciated. The gentleman that came was very professional and knowledgable. We kicked around the idea to purchase a new refrigerator, but were told we didn't need to for this problem. He not only saved us from purchasing a new refrigerator but the fix was inexpensive. He informed us on details of our refrigerator that we didn't know. From start to finish we were very happy with our experience with Dolling's Appliance & Refrigeration.

Dollings was excellent to work with. Made an appt within a day. They were right on time. Called a half an hour ahead as requested and also when the tech reached the parking lot. The tech had to charge another $20 over the service call price quoted because it took an hour and a half to isolate the problem which was more than fair I thought. The solanoid (Sp?) had frozen the circuit board in the back of the fridge so the door dispenser wasn't functioning. The tech asked how old the unit was and when I said about 10 years he told me the replacement part might be $300 up and that he would check on the price for me but that I may want to just open the door to get water and ice or put the cost of replacing the part towards a whole new refrigerator. The owner called the next day and I think the price might have been even $450 to replace the circuit board. The owner was extremely polite and took his time to explain. He said although he was in the business of repairing refrigerators he couldn't recommend I do that in this case because it was so old. I decided to take his advice and just open the door until the whole thing has another major meltdown and then replace it. I appreciated their honesty, professionalism and advice and would certainly use them again and recommend them to anyone in the area.
Description of Work: My ice and water dispenser on the front of the refrigerator door were not working. Technician came out to the apt. and told me that the solanoid (sp?) had frozen the entire circuit board so that the door dispensing unit wasn't functioning but the rest of the unit was fine.

I purchased a new home and the previous owner would hit the breaker switch to turn the oven off. It is a pretty high-end oven, so replacing it would have cost a great deal of money. The tech came out, called prior to coming, was on time, and was EXTREMELY helpful. He not only looked at my oven for me, but did a basic run-down on my dishwasher, refrigerator, washer, and dryer giving me tips on how to care/use them to get longer life. When the part for the oven came in, they called and scheduled it promptly, the tech was again on-time, wasted no time replacing the part, and again gave me tips on using the oven. I would definitely use this company again

Wonderfully. When we calling Dolling's, a serviceman patiently listened to my describe the problem to the best of my ability. He surmised that the problem was probably a faulty door switch. Instead of having us pay for a service call, he looked up the part number for us, and gave us the number of his supplier to order the part from for a little over $20. When it came a couple days later, he walked my husband through the repair over the phone, despite us having paid nothing to him directly. Now that's service!
