Description of Work: I had issues with my air conditioner and had another company to come out and check it out and they told me it was unsafe and would cause a fire. I called A & H services. They couldn't come out that day. I had another company come out and fix it, that only lasted for 2 weeks. I called A & H and spoke with Bill after the new one was put in. He was very helpful and knowledgeable and made me feel a lot better about everything. He would charge me a service call to make sure everything was done correct and check everything the other company had scared me about. 2 weeks later, it stopped working again. I called A&H early in the morning and they came out. He said I needed a new fan motor. I had to go to the outside unit and got it working. I told him all the things the first company had said and he checked them out for me. He checked the “wiring problem” and it was missing a plastic piece and replaced it to make it safe. There was no charge for that. He checked the circuit breaker box and check the amp with the meter. He reassured me everything was fine and it has been working ever since.

He came a couple of hours after my call. I I was very impressed with his punctuality, professionalism and quote. He recommended a unit for us (we live in a condominium) and he came the following day to install it. His workers were excellent,. They left the airconditioning closet very clean and I was able to use the $200.00 coupon from Angies' List. The air conditioner works great! I am recommending him to all the residents of our building.

 + 0 moreMy 1 year old a/c unit that I bought from A&H a year ago wasn't blowing cool air. It was a very hot 4th of July. I couldn't believe they answered the phone when I called. I completely expected no answer on a holiday. Not only did they answer they sent Richard out right away! He did a thorough check and assessed that there was improper water flow from the cooling tower at my building, which the building later remedied. Without Richard's accurate assessment I would have been without a working a/c unit for a long, hot holiday weekend. In addition, I made several follow up calls with questions and Richard answered the phone EVERY time and was very patient, professional and helpful. On a holiday. Outstanding service.

 + -1 moreI found Jeff of A&H to be very professional and helpful. He showed up on time on the day we agreed to give an estimate for a new a/c unit. He explored what he thought was best suited for my house, explaining that the Trane system I wanted was not needed. he determined that the new air handler I wanted would not fit in its current location unless they did some drastic modifications. He said they could move the new unit to the attic but he convinced me that it was just an extra expense for something that was not necessary. We got a seer 16 unit which not only gave us a discount through Florida Power and Light, but will also be able to take advantage of the tax break offered by the Federal government at tax time. Two men arrived on the day of installation, on time. They started around 8:00 a.m. and were finished by 3:30 in the afternoon. They cleaned up after themselves and showed me how to operate the new wireless, programmable thermostat I wanted. A very satisfied customer who now has a 10 year warranty on the Trane system and a two year labor warranty from A&H.

 + -1 moreSunday morning, 9th of june,2013 I noticed my main drain line for central air conditioner was not discharging water, and the secondary line was discharging water at a steady rate. The blockage in main line had to be removed asap, to prevent water damage in my attic. I called A&H Services to fix this problem. Being Sunday, you can't always be sure to get immediate attention for a problem like this, but when I called they answered, and the repairman even gave me an estimated time of arrival. When the technician Chris arrived, he rapidly determined the problem and had it fixed in about 20 minutes.He completely checked the system over and discussed some of the problems that had been developing due to age of the compressor and air handler,which in my home is a split system arraingement. Two pounds of refregerant were added, and pressures were checked. Chris was very knowledgeable and courteous, and took the time to explain what he did and point out other possible forthcoming issues I would have with the air conditioning system.Over all, it was a pleasant experiance. The cost was a basic $190 for the callout on Sunday,excluding the actual work done, and is understandeable due to the day of the week,but I thought it was a little high.

I couldn't leave her with no air and I no longer know anyone in WPB so I thought I would give Angie's List a try. After reading the reviews I decided to go with A & H Services. The service technician, Ron, arrived right on time. He was very personable and friendly to me and my mother. He looked over the inside unit, then the outside unit, and quickly diagnosed the problem. He showed me the faulty part and explained why it was faulty. He had a replacement part in his van, quickly installed the new part, and had nice cold air blowing very quickly. I could not be happier with A & H Services.

 + 0 moreExcellent - repairperson was early to appointment, very polite and knowledgeable. He made the diagnosis and then drove to get the new part (under material warranty from manufacturer). He returned in 90 min or so and installed the part, checked for freon leaks and then added freon. We have used several A/C repair companies and this is the best one so far. I will call them when we need our next repair.
Description of Work: Installed new A/C blower motor, did system leak test and added 3 lbs of freon.

 + -1 moreThis is an older home that we purchased in June 2012. We only travel there a few times a year right now so each trip we schedule some maintenance. In October, we had both the furnaces and AC units checked. We believe in yearly maintenance to avoid any problems. The serviceman was great...he explained the systems, checked everything, told me what filters to purchase and how often to change them...then put the one in the ceiling so I wouldn't have to get on a ladder.

 + -1 morethey did a great job. I had a new air handler and condenser installed in 2009. There has been ongoing problems with water condensation accumulating in the air handler. The company that installed the system has been back numerous times trying to fix the problem They installed 2 evaporator coils, replaced the wet insulation and doors to the air handler and the same problem persisted. When they came out this last time they said the supply side of the air handler did not have enough air coming in and the fan in the air handler was pulling the water across the coil and dropping to the floor and then leaking out into the overflow pan. Their suggestion was to replace the housing box for the return duct inside the house and install another duct to the supply side of the air handler. I called up A & H. They looked at the unit and the baffle was not in place. They screwed the baffle in place and my air handler is working fine with some minimal sweating since it is in my garage. The service tech was professional and answered all my questions.

 + -1 moreI have used A&H for inspection and service in the past, and was very satisfied with the results. When it came time to replace my unit I sought bids from several Angie's List company's. All were very competitive, but in the end I found A&H's bid the best for several reasons. They sought to meet my needs as well as my budget. Plus, they put up with the many questions I had about their proposal during the process. All of the people I worked with at A&H were very courteous and professional. I couldn't have been more pleased with my decision, and would definitely recommend this company to anyone. They won't try to offer you more than you need for service, repairs or A/C replacements.

 + -1 moreInitially, I had to change my appointment time on Monday, 5/13 to later in the day so I called on the prior Friday and the estimator was accommodating. The day of the appointment I called him about 45 minutes after the scheduled time, he said he was running behind and apologized that he did not have my phone number which is why he did not call. I did not ask about possibly of looking at options to find my number such as checking with the office, where I initially called, looking at call history, etc. When he came for the estimate, I gave him my email address to send me the estimate. After a week and a half, I called the office to ask about a status of the estimate (competitor had it to me within an hour). Later on 5/22, I received an estimate that is 50% greater than two other competitors. Based on lack of punctuality, lack of responsiveness, and bloated estimate, I would not recommend this company.

They were able to do a next day install as i had just had my old AC removed and MAJOR problems with another installer (see my review of EWING) Chris showed up on time and was very professional. The installation went well and chris stayed past it for a while to make sure the house was cooling and the unit was functioning properly. I only wish that i had used them first and NOT EWING! A&H provided a great service and went the extra mile to make sure that everything was right.

The service tech replaced the water overflow switch and thoroughly serviced the unit. Our air conditioner has worked better than ever since they came.

Description of Work: Actually required 2 visits: First visit the tech rewired the system correctly because the humidistat and thermometer were in parallel instead of series... thought that would fix unit from running excessively with warm air... 2nd visit: same problem so after diagnostic replaced a voltage switch and fixed problem... The kicker...they applied the money I already paid (approx 140.00) to the next trip so I only paid 55.00 for the 2nd visit. They credited me with the Angieslist coupon as well. Nice guys and great servive

Description of Work: Looked for a good A/C company like most people in South Florida. Read a lot of reviews for many companies & it gets pretty tough to pick one. Guess I got lucky to pick A & H. Spoke with Glenn & explained issue with a/c at my rental property. Had a renter that was hot & wanting it fixed(as he should). Glenn got one of his techs(Chris) out there & found the issue, got the part & got my renter back in the cool ! ! The tech was very friendly & gave me the straight info. Now no one likes to pay bills but, it went pretty smooth considering. If you need some a/c work, I would give this company a try.

 + -1 moreI said it all above. If a company gets too busy some owners can get arrogant and forget how they became successful in the first place. They start increasing pricing ,take on too much work, abuse tired employees or are forced to hire less experienced ones to meet the new business opportunities. Eventually they damage their reputations.- so always get a few bids. Do your homework and don't let anyone take advantage of you. I tell my kids all the time the smiling new car salesman is not your friend > He wants your money . The best ones get it but they have to work hard for it. Good luck to everyone. A&H is , at this point in time, my go to HVAC guys. I hope the owners just keep doing it the same way. Believe it or not for some people it is not just all about the money - their reputations are not for sale. I hope this review helps you all....
Description of Work: Stop looking - this is the company to use in Jupiter Florida and surrounding areas. In the past I used two other firms on Angies list. One a local small company ( which is not necessarily bad) who serviced my old HVAC systems and small appliances. I gave him first shot to do the work. He gave me a lecture on his profit goals and didnt really care if he wasn't competitive - " I have lots of work". Second up was a much larger company that had recently installed an hvac central air unit for me. Recommended by a builder friend. They talked me into a cheap Rheem system and while I insisted on a 16 seer system they did something else _ " but it performs like a 16 seer even though it says 12 seer. Total BS.Now the find. Went to Angie's list. Started my research. Asked for a bid on three new systems two 2 ton units and one 3 ton unit. Recommended and convinved me that Trane was the way to go, Even using the high end Trane product versus others proposed by competitors they came in nearly 50 % less. No Bs. Peter at A&H is the consummate professional. Said I would get a quote in a day; I did. I consider myself a professional negotiator and know how to squeeze. Didn't even open my mouth on this one. Without asking he went into the discounts available to me. I closed the deal in a minute. Now the best part. One of the replacement units had stopped working so I needed a new unit fast. The next day Peters team , lead by Chris and two assistants, showed up and working in a very hot 120 degree attic -removed the old rusted out unit and brought in the Trane, which by the way avails itself of the latest in anti-rust and corrosion components- reduced metal casing on air handlers and aluminum fan blades which are especially good near the water where you experience wind driven salty air. The unit was replaced in a day and my formerly grumpy wife was sleeping in 72 degrees of cooled air. The other two units which required re-ducting and more complicated installation was completed within two days. Old units and all attendant debris removed quickly. Richard , their technology genius came by yesterday to program the Honeywell thermostats so I can adjust temperatures from anywhere in the world. I stll can't believe the price and performance from A&H. I don't work for the company and don't know who owns the place but they have my business for life. Great service, fair pricing , experienced and well mannered employees. That is a winning equation. JIm F.
