They did a good job. They came when they said they would and they were professional. I would recommend them to other people.

Several years ago, I came across Marlyn James on the Internet when another AC company I had service contract with trying to rip me off. I decided to give MJ a try since they were the only certified Trane service shop I found on internet at the time. It turned out I made a good decision. Not only their service was great, but their price is very fair. Since then, I have been using MJ service for at least 5 times for my rental and primary residential. Those projects varies from a simple drain pipe cleaning, to UV light installation, to complicated valve replacing. They did great jobs every single time. The owner sometimes answer the phone herself, she is very nice and professional. For AC service, MJ is the place to go in Tampa Bay area.

The work done on this call was actually follow up work to a previous call two days before. After hiring this company to repair a defective capacitor the following day the AC was still not working. I called for them to come out again and they informed that I had another problem - a defective valve in the air handler. It could have been a coincidence that both of these parts failed back to back or it could have been that the first tech that came to the house did not do enough diagnostics to determine that I had both problems. I wrote the review for the first visit before I realized that I had this other problem. If I could go back and edit, I might give them a B instead of an A for not effectively diagnosing all problems. However, the company was very responsive to my needs and agreed that they could see how I might be upset having service calls back to back. They credited me for the first service call and only charged me for the second. I thought this was outstanding customer service. The AC is working great. We haven't had any additional issues. The technician did the yearly maintenance and walked us through the service of the units.

Called for service. Received same day response. Tech came, found problem and left in less than 2 hours. Great job.

The quality of work was okay. The people who came were sloppy in their work. When they fixed the new digital thermostat to the wall, they did not secure it properly. So it was dangling. When the put the new air conditioning returns in the ceiling, they trimmed it out with trim molding but they did not miter the corners properly so there were big gaps. There were greasy fingerprints all over. Further, there was a mix up. They were supposed to be here at 8 o?clock. Two workers were to come from two different locations to do the job. One person came but the other did not. When he did come, they ended up being at my place up to 9 o?clock in the night. This meant that my wife, who was expecting it to be an 8am to 3pm job, had an 8 am to 9 pm job. She was stuck here and that was a bit of a problem. However, when I called the company about the issues that these 2 workers had left, they had it taken care of it immediately. The installation was done correctly. The price was competitive and the product was excellent.

I had a tenant moving into our house and wanted to leave an efficient system with warranty coverage. Scott Clark came out on schedule to do an estimate and after three other estimates, I chose Marlin James. I had them out previously to repair the old system and was impressed then with the customer service and technicians. Overall, the customer service and responsiveness has been extraordinary. I am not a thousand percent impressed with the Trane product I chose, or Trane's customer service, but Scott, James and their entire staff worked tirelessly and pleasantly to make everything right. All of the Marlin James team members are exceedingly courteous and calls are answered and handled promptly. None of them hesitated to give me their cellphone numbers and their after hours answering service works very well. Air conditioning in Florida is a big issue, you need the most reliable team working for that you can find. It is Marlin James, without a doubt.

I chose them for two reasons: I got them from Angie?s list, and they had two A ratings, and because they were located close to me. I was happy with the quality of their work. They called me right back and came the very next day. They were friendly and professional.

They are absolutely wonderful. They are neat and clean. They are prompt. They are just great. The quality of their work is wonderful. Their pricing is very fair.

I called them on a Thursday and they came out as scheduled and on time on Friday to evaluate our needs and give an estimate. They listened to our needs and concerns and gave us an estimate which included several options to allow us to choose between price and unit efficiency. They also gave us options to help improve the consistency of our heating and cooling since our master bedroom and living room never heated/cooled as efficiently as the rest of the house. We accepted their bid as it was several thousand dollars less than the bid we had received from another company last year. Our A/C was completely out and they were able to schedule installation for Monday. They arrived Monday morning and completed the job on Monday per the estimate. They were professional, cleaned up after themselves and answered all our questions. We are very pleased with our new system and our Master Bedroom and Living Room now cool efficiently. We are looking forward to our electric bill savings.

I called Marlin James Sunday evening (July 20, 2008) when our air conditioner suddenly stopped working. The answering service told me that it could take up to half an hour for a call back, as the technician could be in the middle of something already. Five minutes later, Shane called and I explained the situation. He informed me of the costs involved in coming out that night as opposed to the next day. Since my family lives close by, I elected to wait until regular business hours to schedule a visit. I called Marlin James the next morning and spoke to Carlina. She was very professional and pleasant and worked with me to set up an appointment for that afternoon. Shane arrived right on time, very quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired it. Since we only bought the house nine months ago, I had no idea if the unit had any warranty left. Shane made a call, determined that it was under warranty and saved me the $50.00 cost of the new run cap. Between that savings and the fact that the info he gave me Sunday night afforded me the option of waiting until Monday for a visit, I saved over $150.00. That shows this company has integrity and wants to have happy customers! My house began cooling as soon as he was done.

When I called Marlon James I was given the name and phone number of a sells representative that works in my area. I called and talked to Scotty and he was able to respond to my house within 30 minutes. He provided an estimate for a new Trane unit that was comparable to estimates that I had received on lesser quality units. We scheduled the work for the following week based on my request though Scotty said they could do it the next day. The following week, they came out within 30 minutes of the estimated time of arrival. Two nice guys began working and never stopped. The project took about 1 1/2 hours longer than estimated but they had to install a new concrete slab for the unit as my old one was no longer within code guidelines and they had to build up the box in my garage. The overall work was well done and I'm very pleased with the product and the installers.

They come twice a year and check to see how the units are working and change the filters. It costs $258 a year. We called them out this time because our the fan stopped running. They came out the same day and fixed the problem in one hour. They are very professional, knowledgeable, and take time to answer any questions we might have. They call before they come out.
