Wonderful! Got on Angie's List day before yesterday. Found Chimney Sweep and More. Called Dennis. Set up an appointment for yesterday. Mr. Smith came early in the morning. Our fireplace is double sided (opens to 2 rooms) and huge. Young Mr. Smith was able to stand up inside it and clean out approximately 15 years worth of ****. Also cleaned the fireplace. He was careful to put covers on the surrounding areas in both rooms. When he finished, he picked up everything, and helped my husband move a table and chairs back into place. Fabulous service! Thank you!

We knew we needed a few items repaired and after interviewing a few companies Dennis and team were clearly interested in us more than just a number but a customer for life. He went over all the repairs we needed and provided a price to fix per code and then a price to fix it for life which was not Tanya more expensive but in a world where people just want to get through a small repair we wanted it done right. He custom built us a wind resistance cap and cleaned everything for free. He went over all the workings of the flue and how we should leave it during different seasons. A true class act and would highly recommend him every time!

I called about 10:00 am and spoke to Dennis who informed me on his services and pricing, he was very nice and detailed in explaining the options. We set up and appointment that day sometime after 4:00pm. 4:00pm I get a call from his tech that he will be there in about 20 minute, he showed up ready to work, he put down drop cloths and made every effort not make a mess. Now let me ad that I've lived in this house 20 years and have never had the Chimney or Dryer duct cleaned. He was very professional and did a great job cleaning the Fire place. Next was the dryer duct which goes to a roof vent, wrong kind of roof vent I found out, no telling how long it has been clogged. He worked very h****** this and ended up in the attic taking the duct apart to get it cleaned out completely. He done a wonderful job, cleaned up everything. He was an excellent representative for the company, I wish I could great customer service like this everywhere. I will use them again, in fact I'm getting a quote on relocating the dryer duct and have set up properly.

He was very nice and through, he cleaned my dryer vent and made sure that my vents were clear and clean.

The chimney was ready for a cleaning and I was concerned about some cracks in the bottom panel. The employee inspected my fireplace and advised me that the cracks were minor and the bottom panel did not need replaced. He said that Dennis Verkest, the owner of the company did not believe in replacing parts if they do not need to be replaced just to make money. He made sure the my carpet was covered with a clean tarp and did a great job in cleaning the fireplace. I have used this company in the past and they do a great job.

Great. Very personable and professional and most of all, honest. I had been advised by another chimney company that my chimney was in bad shape and my damper needed to be replaced. She was talking about having to rebuild chimney and spend about $5000! I thought that sounded absurd but we are about to sell our house and I did not want any issues with a house inspection so I decided to get another opinion. The owner came at the exact time of our appointment dressed in his black outfit with the top hat! HE PROCEEDED TO INSPECT THE CHIMNEYS, FILL ALL GAPS WITH MORTAR AND GET THE DAMPER OPEN WHICH WAS CLOGGED AND INOPERABLE. His bill was very reasonable (a few hundred dollars compared to 5000!!! He provided me with a checklist of his inspection so I can show a potential buyer that the chimneys are in working order. I would highly recommend him and caution others to be careful of scammers. There are very few chimney sweeps around so it is easy to be talked into something unnecessary without being able to verify with another company. I might add that most companies would probably have charged for checking dryers or claimed they needed to be cleaned so they could charge for it. He took the time to check and was honest about it. I wholeheartedly appreciate his integrity and would HIGHLY recommend him!

Dennis advised us that the crack in the refractory was not a required repair as it was a hairline crack and well below the industry standard or repair or replacement. We reviewed and discussed the build up of soot and dirt and agreed that the chimney and fireplace needed to be cleaned, even though it had not been used for a few years. In the general inspection, it was determined that the dryer vent had become disconnected inside the wall which posed a significant fire hazard. This was presented to me as a very valid concern. I decided that regardless of whether or not we were selling the home, we had to have this hidden condition mitigated. The entire wall between the studs and fire-break was essentially filled with dryer lint. It took quite a long time for Dennis and his associate to realign and reconnect everything, but they were cheerful and professional throughout the process. These guys were extremely careful and courteous and took pride in their work. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs chimney or dryer vent service.

With the cool weather approaching I called A Chimney Sweep for an inspection of my fire place. I left a message and Dennis promptly returned my call very quickly and set up an appointment for the next day. He and his partner arrived and got right to work, while the chimney was being cleaned Dennis advised he wanted to check the dryer vent. While inspecting he asked when the last time the vent was cleaned. Having just moved in last year, I advised I had no idea. Dennis showed me the buildup of lint which is an extreme fire hazard, immediately he got to work on clearing the vent. Had he not offered to check the vent, who knew the biggest issue wasn?t the fireplace after all. Thank you Dennis for making me feel comfortable in my home.

Dennis and his helper arrived on time and carried all of their supplies inside at once. Dennis answered all of my questions as his assistant got to work. They were very efficient, courteous and clean. I would recommend them and will use them again.

First and foremost, what a pleasant man! Super personable and such a good guy! He diagnosed the issue and made plans to return to do the work. His partner that day, came in a cleaned up my chimney area, just because. He collected no money and made arrangements for me to either pay after he finishes (if I'm home) or to mail him payment. He was honest and reasonable! I am absolutely going to ask his company to come back to clean my gutters:) I will post another review after the work is completed however, I was so impressed with Dennis and his partner, I wanted to share now! Arrived on time and started immediately as I was on break from work. Inspected outside of chimney and surround, inspected inside and dtermined there were no problems. Chimney was clean near the fireplace, but dirty up the flume so he covered the family room, suited up and cleaned with his high powered vacuum. Very thorough and fast. Explained what needed to be done on the roof as the surround was rotted almost completely and let me know a good roofer can take care of that for us, since we already knew we needed a new roof, I can now ask them to include that in the quote. He also said we needed a new chimney cover on top of the chimney as it was starting to "pit". Not an emergency, but we should do it. Took a drive through our neighborhood to check other chimneys to see if we could go with a smaller, round, standard cover which would save us about 4-500 dollars. Found 4 other houses with the smaller, more inexpensive version. That's above and beyond in my opinion. Thanks!

Critters were finding there way into our home via the chimney. Dennis did an inspection and discovered that there was no screen currently on the top. He provided us with a number of options to decide on for our current issue. Dennis and his team put a new screen on to prevent animals from crawling down the fireplace. We plan to use Dennis and his team again in the future. We will likely have a new cap put on and have the fireplace cleaned and inspected again so that we can use it when our children get a little older. There is nothing like a good fire during the holiday season when it is chilly out!

Dennis has been coming here for years. Very punctual, honest and hard worker. I admire the reputation he has made by word of mouth. A lot of my friends use his service as well. Would highly recommend!!!! A++++++ As for the rating recently of an F. I don't understand how a business can be rated if service wasn't performed?? Is this fair Angies' list? We pay for reliable 'service' when joining your site. Service to me doesn't define the fact that an email was not returned. Everytime I call Dennis he picks up or calls back promptly.

Prompt, professional, and very clean

Concerned about cracks in the fireplace insert, I scheduled an appointment for cleaning and inspection. Dennis and his assistant arrived promptly and set about their tasks being careful to protect the floor. Dennis advised that the cracks were within tolerance and rather than replace, he used high heat caulk to ease my concerns. The pull chain screen was in poor condition and a hassle to use. Dennis asked if I wanted removed. Once removed, I didn't like seeing the insert framework. Dennis had a new screen on the truck so I had that installed and also purchased a cast iron grate to replace the flimsy one in use. Dennis was very professional and didn't try to sell me products or services not needed.

I had new white carpet recently installed and was concerned about soot. He reassured me that he would not get any on anything and he was meticulous while cleaning my fireplace. He did a fire inspection , pointed out something that may need to be replaced in a year or so. Didn't try to up sell me , which was great. He is obviously very experienced at this and did an amazing job. Before he left he shook my hand and explained "that it is said it's good luck to shake the hand of a chimney sweep.." :). He came in, did the job, and left no soot behind ....The whole experience was almost magical.. ;) I would highly recommend him and will hire him again . He also offers other services.

Dennis was on time and very professional. He performed an extensive inspection of my chimney (firebox, damper, flame arrest etc..). He answered all of my questions and even provided details on certain aspects of my chimney. Dennis was polite and offered a great price for the inspection. He never tried to sell me anything, in fact, he said my damper might not need to be replaced. Instead, he suggested I spray it with rust penetration to see if it will loosen itself up. All in all, it was a great experience. I will call Dennis with any issues that may come up in the future.

Absolutely no mess! Inspected the fireplace, and answered any questions we had. We will definitely use A Chimney Sweep & More again.
