+ -1 moreAt the recommendation of Scotts, we replaced our old air conditioner with a new one in 2007. The air conditioner rarely works correctly for a year at a time and we have had many calls for them to fix it. They do and then it breaks again. The air conditioner is a piece of crap and they know it and it is still under warranty for 3 more years. So, I am forced to use them. In December 12/11/14, they came out for a check-up. According to them it was working fine and it was until a week later and the AC went out. We spent 410.00 to put diagnostic dye to figure out what the problem was. That was on 12/23/14. They came back and replaced something that was covered under warranty. Then I noticed my heater wasn't working properly. I put up with it as long as I could and called them on 02/11/15. They came back out on 12/12/15 and "fixed it" again. Now, that fix lasted until Sunday morning. I realize the people who work for this company probably don't like talking to me. I try to be nice but I hate being lied to. When I called yesterday to make the apt. for today the girl gave me a choice of 8 to 12 or 12 to 4. I choose 8 to 12. They tell you they send a confirmation email and they did. I didn't look at it until today and it said they would be out from 8 to 7. So the girl lied to me on the phone. In my opinion, this company has absolutely no ethics.

They informed us that the old system could not be repaired. My husband has known the owner of this company for over ten years so we knew they were not trying to cheat us. They installed a new system the day after we found that our old heating/cooling system was not repairable. Everything went very well and we are satisfied with the new bryant system.

+ -1 moreI continue to have problems with this company. I paid for an air conditioning unit. They have been to my house in Tampa multiple times to fix because the new unit will not cool off my house. It won't drop the air below 79 degrees. Great temp for my 80 year old mother - the rest of us hate it. The first repair man said the unit runs hot. Another repair man told me that no electronic will last forever - this was when the over $8K unit was only 4 months old. The last rocket scientist they sent to my house forgot to turn everything back on at the circuit breaker. Their fix for the unit that never works - continue to sell us additional products that will definitively make the difference this time. We're stuck with them, I think, I am exploring that with an attorney but my advice to you - PICK ANOTHER COMPANY!!!! This is only the first time I have ever written a bad review. I hope the don't continue to do this kind of business.

After the technician looked over things that night he determined that my heat pump needed about $800 in repairs to get it working. Well that pump was over 10 years old and the exchanger was 20 years old so I decided that I would have the whole system replaced. The technician was very helpful in choosing the correct system and did not pressure me into getting something more than I needed. He attempted to temporarily get things running until they could get the new unit installed but was unsuccessful. He offered to bring a free standing A/C but I told him I'd be okay. They came out two days later (Wednesday) and had the new system installed and running by 11:00 AM. Everyone was very professional and thorough. I am very pleased I chose One Hour. Thank You!

+ 0 moreI called Scott's One Hour A/C on the Sunday night before Memorial Day. To my relief, they were able to send a technician to my home at 8 am Monday morning. The tech, Sean, was very courteous, professional, knew what he was doing and gave me a lot of great pointers on A/C maintenance. If this is all you're looking for in A/C service, then I would enthusiastically endorse Scott's and ask for Sean. However, there's more to this visit that is going to make this a mixed review. Scott pointed out some potentially more serious problems and offered some very pricey options for fixing them, which I declined in order to do more research (I'm glad I did). He was quick to be critical at the design and installation of the A/C unit, linking it to the time my home was built and seemingly reading out of a playbook about "all homes built in this neighborhood back in 2003..." were done with questionable quality. Never mind that my A/C was installed in 2009 by the father of the then-owner, who just happens to have his own A/C company. I'm inclined to believe that a professional A/C installer putting in a unit for his daughter is going to provide quality service; hearing the A/C tech bash the design for the sake of trying to convince me to invest in expensive upgrades was a bit of a put-off. The upgrades, incidentally, were immediately questioned by the other 2 A/C firms we talked with -- they were quick to point out it was a common scam to get someone to over-invest in technology that isn't needed. Shame on Scott's for pushing this line of crap to a customer. Another big disappointment was the final price to fix. Diagnosing the problem took 15 minutes; the problems that required immediate action were 1) the A/C filter needed to be changed; and 2) there was a clogged line that needed to be drained. Fixing them was a relatively simple process which took 15 minutes. These are things that would be included in normal maintenance, which typically runs from $75-$100 (at least according to Angie's List), and upon looking at some competitor's prices this seems to be accurate. My total cost for the diagnostic and the repair was $265. Most of us people that hire A/C techs aren't experts, and we rely on them to provide honest services without ripping us off in the process. That's not how I feel today, which is why I'm posting this on Angie's List. This company needs to seriously reconsider its pricing scheme and how it does business. I wouldn't use them again and would only recommend them if you need repair ASAP and price isn't a factor.

+ 0 moreIt was the worst experience I have ever had with a service provider of any kind. This has never happened to me before. The $1200 fee was supposed to cover them coming back, finding the leak in my AC and repairing it. When they did come back 3 weeks later, I was told there would be additional charges to repair the leak ($1000-$2000) or that I could purchase a new unit from them for $6000. I had another service provider come to take a look and they said that the unit had such a large leak that it should have never been filled with that amount of freon to begin with. Also, the device to jump start the compressor (which cost $290) would do nothing at all. I called the owner (Scott) and asked for reimbursement of at least half the amount I had spent and he refused. All he said he would do was to come by and pick up the jump start device and I would get $290 back in 3 weeks time. I scheduled the appointment from 8am to 12pm for Sunday, June 22nd. He tried to say I would be charged an additional fee because it was a Sunday---but with a lot of pleading from me, he said he would waive that fee. Well, they never showed up!!! So now I am out $1200 and I still need a new AC unit. Never use this company!!!!! Terrible service and they don't care about their customers at all.
Description of Work: One hour air charged a total of $1200 to put freon in my air conditioner and to attach a device to my a/c unit to supposedly jump start the compressor.

They take off their shoes and put booties on. They don't track dirt in. I can't think of a bad word to say about them at all. I will continue to use them and I will keep recommending them.

We were well pleased with our experience from the first appointment made over the phone, to the very last handshake from the owner after all the work was completed. Our A/C problem was identified quickly and everything was explained thoroughly. We were provided with several options and never felt pressured. We were impressed with the professionalism, demeanor and attitude of each and all the technicians. The owner himself kept in contact with us throughout the process and made sure we were completely satisfied with every aspect of the installation and services provided. Description of Work: First of all, I am new to the area and I hired a company from a flyer sent in the mail to install 2 air conditioners with 1/2 down. The installation began on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 with 1/2 of the money down and prior to the work being completed on Saturday, they charged my Visa for the remaining balance. I never heard of such a thing so I called the company and I was advised this is there practice even though their contract reads "balance due upon completion". Additionally, I was advised the installation would be 1 day and instead it took 4 days. I also learned the installers were sub contractors instead of their own employees. So, I guess you can see where this is going... Now, I was really becoming skeptical for good reason. By Sunday, March 16th, there was a strong "electrical smell" in the house. I called the company repeatedly and no one would return my call so I called an electrican who found the breaker circuits were incorrect for the size of the 4 ton air conditioners installed. I called the other company again and they did not call back. They recommended I call One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating, Tarpon Springs who promptly returned my call and showed up the same day March 17th to perform an analysis of the 4 ton unit and 1 1/2 ton system. The technician found many discrepancies with the installation of the 4 ton unit and immediately called one of the owners who came out that same day. After the analysis, there were many things wrong with the installation, i.e., the other company installed a 4 ton unit and it should have been a 3 1/2 ton unit, the high voltage wiring to the air handler was run from the underside of the air handler cabinet and not the topside which is recommended on a horizontal installation, the UV light was not properly installed causing an overload to the transformer(causing the smell), and there was no permit pulled, etc. There were so many discrepancies it made me sick especially since the units were not in for 1 week and there were issues. After talking to Cory O'Kelley, VP and owner of One Hour he mentioned he would need to re-install the 4 ton unit as it was the only way to ensure it is installed to code.I asked what about the unit being too large for the size of the house and he was able to work with the manufacturer and exchange the 4 ton unit for the proper size. One Hour installed the unit the following day at his cost because he felt so bad at what has happened. I can't say enough about One Hour for going above and beyond just to ensure I had a properly installed system down to the proper permit and size of the unit. They did everything they said they would do and more. Their staff is very respectful, professional, timely and know their job. "One Hour" in Tarpon Springs came to the rescue! I am forever grateful and highly recommend them to anyone looking for this type of service. Although, I am in dispute with the other company I am not sure anything will ever be done about that. I know one thing for sure if you hire One Hour for service of an existing system or to install a system you will not be disappointed at all. I wish I would have checked on Angies list prior to this event but this never happened to me before. Most definately, you only get what you pay for that is for sure - just look at me. Do your homework and please pass this information to all of your friends in this area they will not be disappointed. Please refer to the Better Business Bureau where I have written a detailed list of all of the events. Thank you One Hour, what a great company!!

+ -1 moreCustomer service is generally great. They clean up after themselves and appear to be knowledgeable. We did have an issue to begin with. The first guy sent out wasn’t really experienced and he didn’t check the distribution system in the house. So everything was hooked up and then he left. We would turn on the AC for a minute and then it would lock out. We had to call them back out, and the next guy they sent did a good service check. He found out the distribtution wasn’t set up right and found the unit was overworking itself. We ended up dealing with the owner and he sent out the supervisor; after going back and forth, I advised them that I wanted the AC made functional on their own cost because the work wasn’t properly checked and performed the first time. They did complete my request.

+ -1 moreMy wife and I cannot say enough good things about One Hour Air in Tarpon Springs. This company is wonderful to work with. The staff have always been very knowledgeable, courteous and respectful of both our time, our property and our HVAC concerns. After recently purchasing a home built in the 1980s we had a concern about the cooling ability of one of our HVAC systems. One Hour ran diagnostics and determined that one of the 3 Ton units was attempting to push too much air through duct work intended to only have a 2 Ton unit. This caused a lot of unnecessary noise(inside) and wear and tear on that particular unit. In addition that side of the house was always noticeably warmer than it should have been even when it had appropriate levels of freon. To our amazement after a plan presented to us just days before Christmas(2012), One Hour Air was able to completely correct that problem and have our house completely livable before Christmas. This included cutting sheetrock, running new ducts, re-texturing ceilings, painting and cleanup. We were relieved to say the least as we had family and friends coming to stay for the holidays. Its worth noting that we were advised the first time One Hour Air inspected our units that they estimated that each of the units had about 2 years of "life" left in them. which leads me to the next phase of this review. I monitor my thermostat via a smart thermostat and I started receiving alerts that the house was "hot" one afternoon. I made a call to One Hour Air and a technician promptly checked on the issue. I was called and informed that the compressor on one of the units had finally "seized up". Coincidentally, or not, it was almost 2 years since I had been advised of the life expectancy of the old units. After discussing options with the technician, Steve, I believe is his name, my wife and I decided to replace both units at the same time. This decision was made after learning that the "health" of the other running unit was looking pretty grim due to diagnostics ran. The first entire unit was installed on a Thursday by just 2 technicians. It was running and cooling perfectly by dinner time. The second entire unit was installed the next day by the same 2 technicians. In summary my wife and I are very happy with our decision to use One Hour Air in Tarpon Springs and we do not hesitate to tell our family and friends about our experiences. Ed, Cory, Kim & technician Steve have consistently gone above and beyond to win us as clients.

They came to the house within 1-2 hours. No waiting! The problem was diagnosed and fixed over a few hours. We have not had any additional problems.

I called one hour air and they guaranteed to be at my home and were true to their word. The service specialist, Luke, was very courteous and knowledgable. He was able to quickly and efficiently diagnose and repair my a/c problem at a very reasonable price. He was quite thorough and addressed several additional issues and was mindful to keep my house clean. He informed me of the Comfort Club Membership which includes 2 annual visits for a/c check up as well as an annual visit from Mister Sparky electric and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for $20 per month. I have had the service now for 8 months and my A/C and heating system are running smoothly so far. The office staff exhibit excellent customer service anytime I call and are quick to address any concerns I may have.

+ -1 moreThey state that you can call anytime of the day or night to have your unit serviced, I tried calling one evening when the unit went out, and I could not get anyone to answer me locally. I finally had a new unit installed and then it would not pass inspection on multiple occasions. I had to have them come out many times for this to pass inspection. They service guy told me that the manager said they were going to give me a bit of my money back, but I never saw any type of refund. I had to call another time, when the unit still was not passing inspection and the woman told me they might have to charge me a service fee. I would never recommend anyone use this company. The workers were fine to work with, they were professional, but the owner has all of the issues. There were mistakes made, but the workers were very professional throughout.

Description of Work: I have just bought this house. One hour came out to inspect my AC unit after a house inspector suggested AC was not blowing cold enough. They quoted me at about $800 in repairs and strongly suggested that I replace the unit. This was at ten o'clock at night on a Friday. The office was still open quoting new installs. I decide to wait and put the AC through some test before doing anything in spite of the "5% discount" if you order today. As it turns out the AC does cool off the house reaching 77 degrees but rather slowly. After I had insulation put in the attic the AC performs much better. I can't speak to the quality of their work but it seemed to me that they wanted to do more than the absolutely necessary work and were way over-aggressive in trying to sell me new unit.

+ -1 moreMy A/C stopped working all of sudden. No air was coming from the vents. Steve showed up within the window provided on the phone. He called 30 minutes before he arrived as well. He listened to what I had to say and when on to look over the system. He explained exactly what he found and than provided pricing. I signed up for the club membership to receive a substantial discount. He fixed the A/C within the hour and I came home to a cold home. I am looking forward to the maintenance and ability to call them for any of my A/C needs and feel comfort in knowing that I now have a company I can rely on.
Description of Work: Replaced the capacitor, cleaned the A/C unit, and replaced the wiring damaged by the lightning that hit the unit. Other things were done also to ensure A/C runs smoothly.

+ -1 moreIt turned out fine. They did great. They did everything they promised. They showed me what was wrong and we explored the best possible ways to go and fit our budget. He explained and I looked at the cost of him coming in just to clean, tune up and check things as opposed to a new unit since mine was older. I am extremely happy with the new system and the service we got. They are local, so we are on their 24 hour list. If we are a regular customer with them and sign their plan, then if there is a situation we are bumped up as opposed to a new customer. So it's a great plan to be on once we are with them. It is family owned. I highly recommend them to everybody in the neighborhood; that's how I found them.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal for One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating. They came out for a service call because I wanted to find out why the air conditioner wasn’t reaching the other rooms. He came back in forty eight hours and gave me the new system. It was done in one day.
