Larsen's Pool & Spa LLC

From day one my experience with Larsons Pool and Spa has been beyond what I could have imagined. If you could have seen the terrible pool job I had before, you would understand my concern and lack of trust in hiring a pool contractor. Joe, Dave and Eric Larson, Jeremy, Rhonda, Carol, Bob, Justin and all the sub contractors have completely alleviated my fears. I could not be happier with the final outcome. Joe was the first to come and look at my pool situation and give me an estimate on what I have heard from everyone involved on the worst pool they have ever seen. It took a long time to get the job started as the original builder who is no longer in business never finished the job properly and left an open permit . With the help of everyone in the office and Hillsborough county, we were able to get a new permit and get the job started. Once that happened the ball started rolling and in 6 weeks I was swimming in my beautiful pool. The old deck had to be completely demolished and concrete removed. As my yard has a fairly steep grade, they built a retaining wall that will never shift and erode. There is a solid bed of rebar and concrete holding everything in place. Next came plumbing and electrical. All the plumbing was completely redone with new pvc, new returns, a new skimmer, vac line and sheer descent feature. New valves were installed on the pool pump. the electrical was redone with new conduit for the pool light, light switch, gfi on pool pump and bonding copper wire around the entire pool to ground the electrical. I would also like to thank Dave Larson at this point. There were a few things that were not included in the original bid. Things that could have been reused. Dave chose to replace those things, pool returns and pool light at no extra charge as he felt everything should be done with all new material.Tile was done next. The tile I chose had a distinct pattern in it. I was concerned that it would be installed with the grain of the tile all running in the same direction. The owner of the tile company showed us the back of the tiles showing how each tile was marked so the installers would know the proper placement of each tile and we were assured it would be done that way. In the end there were a few tiles that were installed with the grain of the tile running the wrong way. While it is a minor problem overall, to fix it would have resulted in cutting out and re-cementing the tile and coping as well as the pool interior finish. . I chose not to do that as it would weaken the integrity of the grout. Larsons and the paver company were willing and ready to tear out and replace the affected tiles and coping, but again we were concerned about the integrity of the grout and pool finish overall if it was redone. Larsons attitude was "we will do whatever needs to be done to make you happy". My pool is kidney shaped, so there are no straight edges to be found when they were installing the coping.Every piece of coping was cut and fit with even grout lines. It truly was a work of art watching it being cut and recut to make sure the edges were evenly spaced. After the coping was grouted in, the pavers were installed. With a reandom pattern to the pavers, it was like watching a jigsaw puzzle being done. Water and sand finished the job. The end result is stunning and I am over the top happy with how it looks. The tiles were well sloped away from the pool to prevent rain water running into the pool or pooling on the deck. The next day the pool cage was constructed. Initially I had decided to keep the roof of the patio part of the screen enclosure. I changed it and had the insulated ceiling panels as they were higher and would make it possible to install a ceiling fan. The panel really looks classy and clean and softens the sound of rain on a metal corrugated roof. The screen room is very well built and very strongly secured with cables to the retaining wall. The only issue I have with the screen enclosure is resulting aluminum shavings resulting from the hundreds of screws needed to construct the cage. At the end of the job a high powered leaf blower was used to clean up the debris. Much of the sand that was used to seal in the pavers was blown out, and the sharp metal shavings filled in the cracks. I spent several days with a trash can and pick digging shavings that can act like splinters in bare feet around the pool. A tarp or plastic sheet may have helped alleviate this problem. There was also a leak in the end cap of the gutter leading to the downspout. We noticed that the first time it rained. After contacting Lightning Aluminum, they sent someone out to caulk around the end cap. That has done the trick as there was no more leaking after the next rain. Larson assured me the sand would be redone at the end of the project as the pool finish job would also result in sand being lost. The final step was the interior finish. The guys who did this job were very professional and did an amazing job. They bonded the interior first, then came in with a high pressure blower shooting the interior finish into the pool. They went to work smoothing the finish and cleaning off any residual cement. In two hours time, my 6 week construction job site became a stunning pool with a hose running to fill it with water. 24 hours later, the pool was full. After a call to Jeremy, who has been my main contact person letting him know it was full, I got a visit from Bob. Bob came in to start up the pool and add all chemicals needed to get the water clean and clear. He gave me instructions on what needed to be done for the first two weeks while the interior finish was getting set and solidified. He brought me a new brush and showed me how to brush down the sides every day to assure all the colors in the finish would come out as they should. Bob came out several time to complete all minor issues and re-sanded the pavers as promised. Also, Richard who did the demolition at the beginning came out and cleaned up all the remaining debris and graded the yard getting it ready for landscaping that will be done soon. While I have mentioned a few minor issues during the process, I am truly happy with the overall job. I would give them a grade of 99 out of 100! Jeremy was very responsive to any questions and concerns I had and responded to text messages and phone calls no matter what time it was. I would highly recommend Larsons Pool and Spa as well as all the amazing sub contractors they used. I spoke to all of them when they came to do their part of the job. Without exception, all of them had good things to say about Larsons and all of them have worked for them for several years. That says a lot about a company if the subcontractors are happy working for them. Building a new pool is a big job, but a full renovation is a huge and very expensive undertaking. I chose Larsons because they did not try to tell me as others did the cheapest way to get the job done. They gave me exactly what I asked for. The RIGHT way to get the job done. Again I am beyond happy with my new pool and everyone who had a part in it. Thank you to everyone connected with this amazing process!

This is a great company. I received 3 other bids for the same amount but for a smaller pool with limited pavers.they started when they said they would but more importantly they finished on schedule. Jeremy Jolli is the construction supervisor and he is awesome. I cha nged the plans multiple times and he was so detailed and so accessible which put us at ease. LARSENS doesn't nickel and dime it's customers.things that are upgrades with other companies are standard in a LARSENS pool .they serviced the pool weekly for a month after completion which was so important to have someone walking me through the process of keeping the pool sparkling clear.they have a superior support network and don't abandon the customer when completed.I routinely hear from Jeremy ensuring that everything is fine and to call should I have any questions.if you're looking for a great company no other bids are required, use LARSENS pool and spa.

After internet and Angie's List research we met with Joe at Larsen's to pick out our materials. We went with Wet Edge pool surface and 12X12 Shellrock pavers by Artistic pavers. Neither is a cheap option, but we found them to be excellent choices. The surface is grippy without being too rough like Pebble Tec and the pavers cool with some grip but do not need sealing Both Joe and owner Dave came to our house separately to measure and discuss the project and provided us with a written estimate. The pool draining came first, then the (six tons) of pavers were delivered. The paver crew (ours was owned and operated by Carlos, who I recommend if you have a choice) was incredibly hardworking and organized. The did the entire job in about a day and a half. Note that you have to move everything off of the pool deck before they start work. They first removed the old "edge" of the pool and the old tile running along the inside edge, then installed the new tile. Then came the pavers. Note that when they tell you that they "make a lot of dust", they are not just kidding around. At times you can barely see them out there when they are cutting the pavers. If you have and old house with jalousie windows like we do, I would recommend you tape up the seams ahead of time. Lots of very fine dust. The crew cleaned up very well. The interior of the pool was next. This was done by a separate subcontractor. They park a truck out on the street and run a long hose back to the pool. There is a mixing vat on the truck where one guy dumps the dry material into and then if is pumped back to the pool. This operation took four or five guys about five hours and again, they cleaned up afterwards. Bob and others from Larsen's came back several times over the next few days and weeks to clean the pavers and the general area and get the pool chemistry correct. Everything was done as promised and it all came out looking great.

It was great. They went out of their way to satisfy me. I was really happy I chose them!

What a pleasure to have Dave Larsen and his crews work on my pool and lanai! From the moment I talked with Dave Larsen on the phone to the final tweaks to our finished project, Larsen's Pools and Spa have been professional, responsive and easy to deal with. Their pricing was fair and competitive. Communication from all parties involved was excellent and timely. We had some major problems identified as the project progressed that were unexpected, but Dave was very good about defining the issue, providing fair solutions and making sure that the project moved ahead with minimal delays. As the project wound down there were some details that I wanted addressed and Dave and his staff were excellent about getting in touch with me and communicating when someone would be there to evaluate, repair or complete the issue in question. Dave Larsen does exactly what he says he will do and that is to be cherished when you are venturing into a large remodeling project. We highly recommend Larsen's Pools and Spa and we love our new pool and lanai!

We initially met with Joe Fleming who created a beautiful design and helped us choose finishes. The entire process went smoothly and on schedule, even despite some unexpected obstacles like gas & electric lines running underneath where the pool was originally supposed to go. All the workers were professional. Jeremy, our coordinator, was a delight to work with. He was always available and pleasant. We are now enjoying our new salt water pebble tech pool and couldn't be happier!

I wanted high end pebble tec, new tiles, coping, fountains and my spa re-done.

Eric returned all of my calls and spent about 10 minutes on the phone with me, even though they only do new pool construction. I was really impressed that he took the time to call me back -- more than once -- even though his company doesn't do resurfacing. He could have easily left me a message saying as much, but instead, he took the time to speak to get me on the phone, give me a reference to another company, and even discuss resurfacing options. I was impressed by this personal touch.

Eric Larsen is a professional in every sense of the word. He oversees every step of the operation and does it in an efficient, competent manner. Each phase of our extensive remodel was done with the best of the best in the world of work. Each team Eric employs came in ready to work to achieve excellence; they aim to please the customer and I really appreciate that. The travertine is stunning and laid to perfection. Every inch of the lanai reflects the superior skill of the stone workers. Every inch of the drain system was worked out to create a dependable drainage system. Each specialty team comes in with an attitude of excellence, as if they were working on their own home. They are polite, respectful, and very easy to talk to about any concerns. Eric's chief concern is making the customer happy, taking care of business. We trust him emphatically and are so happy we were lucky enough to have Larsen Pools do our work. We had delayed taking care of our lanai and pool because we didn't know who to go to. Our pool is stunning, the spa is gorgeous. I can't say enough about how thrilled we are with the work Larsen Pools did. I wish all contractors and corporations cared as much as Larsen Pools about excellence of service.

Working with Larsen's was a great experience. We love the pool they built for us, and on the whole the process of building it went very well. During construction, there were a few minor problems and mistakes, as you might expect in any large project, but Larsen's corrected every problem immediately and at no expense to us. Two examples: A few weeks after the pool was completed, we had some minor problems with the gutters installed between the pool enclosure and our house, and later with the electrical panel controlling the pool. Larsen's fixed both problems promptly, at no cost to us. There were a few other minor issues that Larsen?s handled equally well. This kind of responsive behavior indicates to me that Larsen people don't just take the money and run ? rather, they will be there for me when I need them. In my experience working with vendors, the quality of Larsen's work, their professionalism, and their dedication to polite customer service has rarely been equaled, and has never been surpassed. I recommend them very strongly: A+.

We cannot say enough good things about Larsen's Pool and Spa. We are now enjoying our beautiful pool and are very glad we chose them to do our renovation. We had extensive work done to remodel our existing pool, spa, lanai, and outdoor grill area. Larsen's went above and beyond throughout the entire process. They always communicated with us regarding everything that was going on. We were home almost every day during the renovation, and we can say with confidence that these are the hardest working guys out there. There were many challenges to overcome with our old pool and lanai, and Larsen's worked closely with us to create a beautiful space. Dave Larsen is such a great person to work with, and always a man of his word. Orlando did an amazing job with our tile and travertine. We appreciate all the hard work they put into this job. Our pool is absolutely stunning now. We get compliments from everyone who comes to enjoy it. It is now a space we love to be in, and Larsen's did a great job of making it happen.

very attentive and excellent work, pool has not leaked a drop since it was filled last fall

The overall quality and workmanship of the work crews that came out to perform the work was excellent. The decking/pavers and pool interior was done in approximately 8 days and looked very nice. The overall cleanup after the work was pretty decent, however there were some areas of sand and overall residual dust that could have been cleaned a little better. In total, the cleanup was good. The overall management and oversight of the project had some issues. Larsen's was very good about assisting with the color choices and paver designs (front end), but once the choices were made and the work was scheduled, the oversight dropped off significantly. For a project this detailed with a hefty price tag, I expect better logistics and communications from the manager as the project phases are being organized. The owner should not have to make calls wondering who's coming when and what exactly they are going to be doing. The oversight was lax and could have been better. For oversight/management, I'd rate them fair/good. In the aggregate, Larsen's Pool,& Spa is a reputable company that will do an above average job. I would use them again for similar work and have high confidence they could do a solid job. My only suggestion would be that management continues to stay engaged with the owner and go the extra mile to make sure they are following up each day as the work is getting done to be sure they can answer any questions or concerns.

We are extremely pleased with the service we received from Larsen's pool. Everyone involved is very polite, kind and very professional. They were reasonable and fair with their pricing and had an amazing selection of products to choose from.The Job started when it was supposed to; ended when it was supposed to and everything was cleaned up with no garbage left behind, details which are rare to see these days. We did encounter a hiccup or two with regards to personal business management and the end results of our pavers, but Larsen's team stepped up and corrected both issues quickly and tactfully with the upmost respect for us as their clients. We would absolutely recommend them to our friends, in fact two of friends already have their number, jealous of the fabulous results we got from using Larson's Pool and Spa! We really couldn't be happier.

Overall we were " very" please with the construction of the pool from the beginning to the end. One of the things we were most happy with was the service AFTER the pool was completed. When Larsen Pools says they stand behind their pools they REALLY do. Everyone was awesome to work with. Just to name a few Dave Larson (Very polite and always a phone call away), Jeremy Jolly (Project manager, very polite, always smiling and always responsive to any concerns), Carlos and his paver team, the best in the business, Justin(pool Tech) , Bob (Construction support, VERY, VERY nice guy to work with and quality focused,and all the other various contractors. One thing I can say is that your going to pay a little bit more with Larsen Pools than other pool companies but the peace of mind knowing the end results exceeds your expectation and you have a pool builder that even a year after your pool has been completed who will be there for you is well worth it. Our very only complaint was with the Electrical Contractor Larsen Pool uses. To be professional I will not state there name but the quality of there work was very poor. At lease two items had to be redone do to poor workmanship on there part. Dave Larsen however was insistent about ensuring everything was done right and personlly stayed on top of things till they were done to our satisfaction.

We had a wonderful experience with Larsen's. They were very professional, timely and competitive in price. Adam worked with us to design a pool and deck and it was helpful to see his computerized drawings of the pool project. We are very happy with our pool and they have been very eager to help us when we had questions. I would definitely use them again!

The work performed by Larsens was outstanding in every detail. We are completely satisfied with the high quality look of our pool. They had to spend a great deal of time addressing pool issues that had not been properly addressed by the previous owners but the work was truly excellent. We are extremely pleased with the finished product and would recommend them to everyone.

This is my 3rd pool construction in the last 10 years. The first pool turned out great, but that builder no longer working in Florida. The 2nd turned out good, but not great so didn't want to use them again. Larsen's was my runner up on the 2nd pool so they became our first choice on the 3rd build. I interviewed 5 more companies again and chose Larsen's. I was able to get everything I wanted. We had county permitting issues that delayed construction due to flood zone. We ended up modifying the design to get approval for our permit. Once the project started, things moved quickly. We got delayed with some bad weather but I could see the team doing everything to meet my deadline. We had a houseful of people coming for Thanksgiving and they wanted to swim! The deadline was met and the Pool / Spa turned out AMAZING! The larsen's are good people. I enjoyed the entire process! They delivered exactly what they promised. If I ever happen to build number 4, I won't waste my time interviewing company after company. I will surely call Eric Larsen!

Larsen's Pool is the BEST company we have ever worked with...Period! Eric & Dave Larsen and their crew worked with us every step of the way. Larsen's had great ideas to make our pool job better than we expected. They were very patient with our changes and really took the time to explain all the little details that can make or break a project. We are very detail focused customers and Larsen's care as much as we do about every aspect of the job. Also, the job foreman Bob really cared about the finished project, Bob visited the site prior to the start of the project and was an important part of every phase of the work. We can say truly say that the finished project exceeded our expectations in every way! Larsen's showed up on time, worked hard to stay on schedule and the results show what years of experience in the pool business can mean to your project. Without a doubt I would use Larsen's Pool & Spa again in the future.

Larsen's Pool & Spa did a great job on our new pool, hot tub & deck. From our initial meeting with Adam, through the construction phase with Dave, Carlos and the various subs, to the finalization, we could not be more satisfied. We met with 3 other contractors prior to choosing Larsen, and some of them gave us bids that were less expensive, but based on written reviews and recommendations from friends, we paid a little more to go with Larsen, and we have not regretted it. We would recommend Larsen's Pool & Spa to any of friends or family who were interested in installing a new pool.

We could not possibly be any happier with our experience with Larsen's Pools. From the design portion with Adam (who contributed wonderful ideas that improved on our vision for this space) through the construction phase all the way to our Pool 101 class with Justin everything was top notch. Larsen's obviously has a very good relationship with the various companies that had a hand in this project. We were so happy with many of them that we now have a new electrician in our files as well as an excellent irrigation expert! The ultimate seal of approval for us is that we have had numerous neighbors go out of their way to compliment us on how beautiful the pool is and we have passed along Eric Larsen's number to a few! We would recommend this company to anyone who is interested in having pool construction done.

Eric and his team did an AWESOME job on our pool! From design to installation to start up to support, the entire process went great! We were very nervous about that kind of investment, but the team was very responsive and answered all of our questions and concerns along the way. The work was done on time, and on budget, and we are going to enjoy our pool for years to come! It looks like a million bucks!

I would highly recommend Larsen Pools to anyone looking for a new pool. They were knowledable and helpful in planing, executing and follow up after to take care of a few small issues. I would give a AAA rating

We recently moved to Florida from New York and purchased a home knowing that we wanted to have a pool installed immediately. We contacted Larsen's while still living in New York and they were incredibly helpful right off the bat. We chose Larsen's to have our pool installed and couldn't be happier with our choice! Every step of the way we were kept well informed on a daily basis. All of the the subcontractors were amazingly professional, courteous and skilled. Jeremy Jolly was absolutely the best! HE is a huge selling point for this company. Jeremy was so patient with our lack of pool installation knowledge. He was at our house daily checking on progress, making sure we were happy, and keeping us up to date on progress. Jeremy was responsive to calls and texts at any hour of the day. And he always had a positive attitude and solution ready if there was a timing issue on our end. I would highly recommend this company!

This was our first experience building a pool and we did lots of research and spoke with a couple of companies before selecting Larsen's Pool and Spa. We met with the designer (Adam) and he not only listened to what we wanted, but took the design we had in our minds and enhanced it. They pulled the sod in our backyard on 6/23 and on 8/21 the pool was ready to be filled. Keep in mind, this is the heavy rainy season in Florida so we had to contend with the weather and the challenges nature posed (cave in of the hole, difficult soil to work through (clay), etc.) Every one of the subs was professional, and patient with the number of questions we posed throughout the process. Dave and Jeremy, were the construction coordinators and both were responsive whether we called or texted in the evenings or on weekends. They knew how important our dogs are to us, so they ensure they did not take down the current portion of the screened enclosure until it was absolutely necessary to do so, so the dogs could have that area to roam while their pool was being built. They suggested and added a "doggie step" in the step area (half a step), which I'm happy to report, our dogs use just about every time they get out of the pool. We even had a situation where we had to change something on the pavers and Adam was able to meet with us on the Sunday of the 4th of July weekend so we could see the other options for pavers to make the needed change (original pavers were no longer available). They suggested the nebula lighting and we thought it was a great idea since our pool faces a conservation area, and it looks amazing! The folks are lighting aluminum did a great job at extending our screened area as it was a bit of a challenge considering the current structure in place and columns throughout. There were over 30 folks overall that in one way or another were involved in this project and every one of them was polite, and a pleasure to work with during the process. Once the pool was complete, Justin came over to "start up" the pool and came back a few more times to ensure all was working as it should and walk us through how to use the equipment, etc. He was quick to respond to our texts with questions as we had tehm once the pool was on. Again, since we are novices when it comes to owning a pool, we appreciate everyone's patience and knowledge as they answered our questions and explained the various steps and processes involved in creating our backyard paradise!
