Grable installed the Rheem product that I purchased that morning. Grable didn't have the particular model I wanted so their technician (Chris) worked on removal of the old water heater while I went to Home Depot that carried that particular model. Now how many plumbers will work with you like that? Very satisfied with the service and professionalism off this company Since talking with the company, Grable is considering carrying this new model water heater in their inventory as it offers a longer warranty period for parts and labor, ease of setting temperature with LED screen, water leak alarm, and has a vacation mode switch. No more using the hot water breaker box switch! Almost forgot to mention that I did forget to use their Angie coupon at time of service. Called them the next day and they actually gave me a better discount that the coupon. Awesome!

Upon review it was found that our technician mistakenly quoted the price for a complete installation. The house was already piped and ready for the water softener. Our technician was in his first week with the company and made a mistake, the correct price should have been a quarter of the price quoted. We contacted the Angie's List member and explained the mix-up and that our technician has since received the necessary re-training.

There were problems, but when we spoke to the manager Bill Grable he did everything anyone could do to make it right. PRICING - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: If you have a service contract with Grable this means you get discount prices on labor and services and a free annual plumbing inspection. However, if a plumber is doing the free annual inspection and finds a problem, you are still subject to a $70 service charge in addition to labor and materials for whatever is done. If the plumber does not have a needed part on the truck and must travel to pick it up, then you may have to pay an additional $69 or more for his trip. Be sure you see all charges written out and correctly identified on the estimate you sign before the plumber begins work. Do not let the plumber begin work until you are sure he has all the required parts and they are what you want. Don't forget the Angie's list discount.

[member name removed], Thank you for your honest and thoughtful review. As I learned from my phone conversation with you our technician did not follow certain company protocols and he has since then received the necessary retraining. We are extremely grateful for your patience in allowing us to fix our mistakes. To be trusted by others is the highest compliment one can achieve. To loose that trust, even briefly, is humiliating but is often the greatest opportunity for growth.

The toilet was backed up and going into the bathtub. We called on Monday and they came out the same day. They told me up front that "snaking" from the roof clears 99% of blockages and they were right. The cost was $300 which I felt was very reasonable. Thanks Grable!

It didn't go at all due to poor customer service by phone at initial call.
Description of Work: I called Grable Plumbing about leak detection services, and approximately how much would this cost? The customer service person, said, "we do not estimate anything until we see the job first hand" I thanked her and hung up.. we all realize prices aren't set in stone, but we do need an idea of costs up front.

We called them in the evening and asked that they go to our house. They confirmed the meter was spinning too fast (no one lived in the house). They went around the house and confirmed it had to be outside because no water was leaking in the toilets/showers/faucets/water heather. To stop the water waste, they cut off the water to the house and let us know what we should do once the leak was fixed to get some money back from Tampa Utilities. They also provided us with a quote to track down the leak. However, after reading other reviews about their higher costs, we felt we should shop around. We were indeed able to find someone who found/fixed the leak for $200 less than they had quoted. Having said that, the service was impeccable and they went to the house at night to handle our issue, met with a friend (we are out of state), and provided a receipt in a timely manner. In a pinch, I would definitely reuse them.

Yesterday we discovered water dripping from the shutoff valve for the commode in the downstairs bath. I pulled up Angie's list and began searching. I chose Grable because of proximity to where we live. When I called Dawn told me she could get someone out between 1-4 pm and it was about 12:30 pm then. She called back shortly and said Paul was on the way. Within about an hour after calling Paul arrived and took care of the problem. We had him check the upstairs commodes and one of them needed replacing also. This was pain free!

They are very professional. They come out and give good estimates. Their people are really good about kind of keeping me informed about what they are doing and what the job is going to require. Overall, it was a good experience with them. I have a property management company that manages everything for me and there was a plumbing problem. There is nothing in particular that I dislike about them. They are just good and professional. Their people come in the uniform. They tell what the problem is, what is going on and what they are doing. The price is fair.

They came in and replaced my old faucet I had for 20 years, with what was supposed to be the top of the line. I found an O ring in the sink, and after that, the faucet became hard to move. And now it leaks as well. They later offered me a free inspection, and tried to sell me a 3 year warranty on my faucet that was already not working from their install. They won't replace/fix it as is.

I called Grable for an estimate to replace the cast iron pipe under our house. Our house is old and a lot needs replacement so the technician identified the tub trap and p-trap needing replacement as well. He gave us an estimate on both, separately, which is easier to manage. He did a good thorough job of sealing the toilet base, replacing the tub trap and the p-trap, and putting in a new drain that drains much more quickly and it easy to open and close.

I found another great plumber to complete the work neatly and successfully for 1/3 of the price quoted by Grable.
Description of Work: Very friendly response from their office when I called to get an estimate for replacing my water softener currently in my garage and installing my new RO water filter system under my kitchen sink. The office said they have hourly rates, provide free estimates, and sent their person in less than 24 hours. This was all great. Well, it turns out they have "fixed" pricing, and the $900 quote was SKY-HIGH for work that would require about $30 in materials and less than 3 hours to complete. There was no 'talking sense" with them, which was frustrating especially since they had decent ratings on Angie's List. Needless to say I found another great plumber through a friend to get my work done neatly and successfully for $300.

Response from Grable Plumbing Co Inc
Grable Plumbing was called to quote the installation of a customer supplied water softener and reverse osmosis water filtration system. Grable Plumbing gives by-the-job or “Flat Rate” estimates, as opposed to an hourly rate. Grable Plumbing stopped using an hourly rate over 15 years ago to provide more up front and transparent pricing to their customers. The filtration system the customer selected is known in the plumbing industry to develop leaks at specific plastic fittings. The quoted price included replacing all faulty components with proper professional grade parts. Grable Plumbing further recommended the customer return the equipment in exchange for a better quality unit.

The tech did not check the water temperature in the house after hooking up the unit and I've subsequently had to adjust the thermostat on the unit. Additionally, they crossed the water hoses into our washing machine (which sits below the heater and had to be moved for the installation), causing us to get hot water while attempting cold water washes.
Description of Work: We needed a replacement of our water heater, as the old heater was leaking terribly and had been twice previously repaired by Grable. I called on the evening of April 18 to inquire about service for a replacement unit. I informed the answering service it wasn't a serious emergency and could wait another day for a call back. I received a call back the following morning and tried to schedule an appointment for the Saturday. I was later informed by Grable that they did not have available personnel to do the work and informed that they had an agreement with another company who could take the job on their behalf. I ended up paying nearly $1000 in overtime, travel expenses and extra labor (I was told it was a two person job) plus the cost of the new unit. I was informed beforehand that extra travel time and extra labor would apply, but never dreamed it would be this expensive. The replacement tech did not install a pan under the unit, even though I explained to them on the phone that one was required.

My tenant called to report a water leak near the outside faucet. Being a, "long-distance" landlord, I had no choice but to consult Angie's List and call a local plumber. Grable Plumbing fit the bill. They responded within hours, (same day service). They identified the problem and phoned me with an estimate. $270.00 to repair a leak somewhere near the outside faucet. My tenant was very happy with the fast and competent service provided, and the leak seems to have been repaired. But $283.11 seems like a lot of money to me. Especially since it only took about ten minutes from the time of the estimate and the next call to let me know the job was finished. Replaced the outside faucet, a "small pipe stub-out", plus $39.00 for the "truck charge". $283.11? That's nearly two weeks worth of rental income. For ten minute's work. Guess my Mom was right; I should have been a plumber.

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Need to let customers know exactly what is covered under a "FREE ESTIMATE".
Description of Work: This was a very disappointing service call. Our 2 1/2 yr. old Rheem water heater stopped producing hot water. We had been out of hot water for 2 days & with New Year's approaching we were desperate to get someone out to fix the problem before we were stuck having to wait until after New Year's day. My husband called at 8:30am & we were told that someone would be at our home by 3:00pm to give us a FREE ESTIMATE. The gentleman was on time, spoke with my husband about the problem, placed a large binder on the table, opened it & preceded to talk about several different types of "service plans" we could purchase up to the tune of $300+. We declined & asked him to just look at the water heater & let us know what needs to be done & what it will cost us. We were then told that we would be charged "labor" for him to "look" at the water heater since it's not like a leaking faucet. I informed him that they were aware it was a water heater & we were told there would be a FREE ESTIMATE & if that involves taking 2 screws out then that is what should be done. How else can he access the problem which will then proceed to an estimate, which should be free. He repeated his leaking faucet scenario. We told him that had we known this is what to expect, we would have had other plumbers come to help us as this wasted our entire day & we were now left with no hot water until after the 1st. I would like to mention that he NEVER looked at the water heater nor did he even ask to see it! My husband called another plumber.....24/7 Plumbing. Unfortunately, we had to wait until the 2nd, which put us without hot water for 4 days, but, they came out, fixed the problem, gave us a 1 year warranty & contacted Rheem while at my house to informed us that we would be reimbursed for the parts since the water heater was under warranty.

I have a history of needing plumbers on major holidays so when our kitchen sink started backing up in mid December, we called to called to make an appointment. I did not want to have plumbing issues on Christmas! Our first appointment was for 12/18/12 -with a window of arrival between 3-6pm. I left work early to make the appoitment. At 7:30pm we got a call saying they were running late and they would arrive by 8pm. They finally arrived at 8:30pm. While here, they seemed professional and got the job done. Unfortunately, on Christmas Day, the sink was backed up again. I called at 2 pm and explained the situation. I was told that I would get a call from a technician very soon. By 10pm, I still had not received a call so I called back. I was told that the earlier operator had filed my call as one which could be handled the next business day. This was not at all what I requested nor what I was told would occur. Rather, I would now get a call the following morning by 7:45 am. At 8:15 the next morning, I got a call from the "office" from a sour woman who seamed irritated that she needed to call me. She asked if I needed a visit, and of course I said yes. She seemed very frustrated that I had called twice and she didn't know why things had transpired as they had. I concurred that I didn't understand either, but that yes, I still needed a visit. By 9am we had another plumber arrive. Again, he seemed professional and seemed to get the work done. While he didn't come out and say this exactly, he inferred that the job wasn't done correctly the first time. (Obviously!) It is probably too soon to know if the work was done right this time or not yet. What I know is that I missed a few hours of work to only have my Christmas dinner ruined by a backed up sink after all. To add injury to insult no one came on Christmas Day (even after I called and clearly they didn't do the work correctly the week before) and then I get a sour woman fussing at me because II called twice the day before! While we weren't asked to pay for the second visit, which I would have refused, given the poor quality of work and customer service they should have acknowledged their errors snd offered some refund of my earlier payment or other compensation for the poor service rendered.

The ladies who work the telephones give a great first impression of the company. They are courteous and efficient. As promised, I was called when the plumber was on his way within the window of time I had chosen. David was just what I needed. He cured my lack of hot water and lack of water pressure. He was personable, efficient, and explained everything -- the essence of professional. Grable Plumbing has a coupon for its services, and the telephone staff told me about it (although I already knew). I definitely will work them again and have projects lined up.

Overall, the best plumber I've found in years. Very professional, courteous. Explained everything to me, gave me options and showed me prices. Wore clean clothes, booties in the house. Very prompt and went straight to work. Grable is definitely my new Plumbing company of choice!!
Description of Work: Reported a problem with water overflowing from the downstairs toilet, even though the toilet had not been flushed, meaning a bigger drain problem. I was able to schedule a plumber to come over very shortly after the phone call. We discussed the issues, came up with a couple of options, and he gave me an estimate to do the work. The initial visit and drain cleanout was estimated about $300, including pulling the toilet. Once he had done that we determined that the issue really needed a camera and recording device, and he returned shortly with that equipment. I'm in a condo unit, so we discovered that the tree in the patio area of the unit next door was pushing roots into the drain pipe and causing the problems. Larry managed to get a break-through in the roots enough to drain today, and I also purchased a RootX treatment to use tonight. The video copy should be delivered to me next week, and I can pursue the issue further with my condo management group about the tree removal.

I got them on Angie’s List, and I had a bad experience with them. I will follow up with them, but I was not happy. It was expensive at $800. They did not fix the thing on the outside wall on the visit before last. I paid to get the floor done after they fixed the leak. The new floor messed up the same way the last time after they had treated the leak. I called Grable, and they sent a man out. The man said it was just a leak from out of the little water hose to my refrigerator and that he could repair it for $200. I told him I would not pay anything over $50. He talked to his manager and said he would do it for $50. They called to get me, but I was not available at that time.

Response from Grable Plumbing Co Inc
Contacted Member and reviewed the work that Grable Plumbing provided. The first service call was in response to a broken kitchen sink drain pipe in the wall which had caused damage to her flooring. Six months later she called Grable Plumbing to come out and repair a water pipe leak she had located by a leak detection company. After review, the leak on the water line to the refrigerator ice maker was completely unrelated to the work previously provided.
