Called Bob (owner) and he promptly arrived same day. Explained my current situation with water entering the garage during heavy rains due to ground elevation. He surveyed the area, determined he could corrrect the problem, and offered some design suggestions. Had estimate in writing next day. started project on a Monday and finished on Friday. All work was done quickly and professionally by his very experienced crew. I was always kept informed of progress and all went without any problems. Had several inches of rain the Monday following and the concrete drained as described with no water in the garage and no puddleing anywhere. I could not be more pleased with the outcome and I highly recommend them to anyone considering similar projects. Couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable and professional contractor. Best experience I ever had with any contractor.
Description of Work: remove existing concrete and asphalt from house entrance and driveway. properly grade ground to facilitate water drainage away from front entrance and driveway. pour concrete and clean area.

I found Fleet Concrete on Angie's List, called and talked to Rose. She was very polite and helpful. She advised the owner, Bob, would contact me to come out and work up an estimate. Bob came out next day, he was very professional and listened to my needs and concerns. I needed someone I could 'brainstorm' ideas with to get the best results from this project and Bob did just that. We worked as a team to come up with the best ideas and action plan. Bob explained the process thoroughly including pulling proper permits and scheduling. Bob kept me informed as time went on, letting me know where he was in the process or that he was mailing some paperwork to me for my completion. Once all was ready to go, Bob called to set the date to get started on the job. I had just completed a large 3 day fencing project the day before, so his timing was perfect. We agreed he could start next day. That next day his crew of about 7 workers showed up and got to work. They had to tear out the old, damaged concrete then set the forms. The cement mix truck was slated to arrive at 2pm that afternoon. Bob showed up onsite shortly before the demo was completed. He and I had to work together to determine the best placement and angles for the new driveway, sidewalk components, and the shed slab. I had originally asked for an 8x10' shed slab, but as we were laying it out, I realized I would prefer a slightly larger slab. Bob agreed to adding the extra two feet onto the shed slab without a whimper and at no extra charge. I really appreciated that. The layout work proved to be quite a chore, but Bob and I successfully worked it all out. Bob had to leave before the pour began. The cement truck arrived shortly after 2pm, and the pour was completed by around 4pm. They had to 'buggy' the cement to the shed slab in the backyard with their Bobcat loader. The crew did their screeding, bull floating, troweling, and finish work up to about dusk. The final surface broom work was completed around 7pm under halogen lighting. I was told someone would be back out next day to pull the forms and do site cleanup. One man arrived next day around 8:30 am, he pulled the forms and did his site cleanup. Shortly after this worker left, Bob called me to ask how it went and what was my feeling about the job? I explained I had some questions and a few concerns. Bob insisted he would be right there, and he did arrive within the hour at my home. We both looked the job over, discussed any and all concerns and questions. Bob explained they still had some patching up to do at the curb/driveway joint. A worker has since come out and completed the joint repairs. My only hesitation was that I was glad I was able to be onsite while the work was going on, as I had to intercede on several issues. Once I pointed out an issue, either Bob or one of his workers would attempt to correct it to my satisfaction. One unresolved issue was the workers did not use the proper sized lumber for the shed slab forms, so once the cement was poured the weight of the cement caused the forms to bow outward some. Bob offered to cut and correct the bowed areas of the shed slab, but I declined since I felt I could work around it. Overall, I feel had I not been in attendance, I may not have been satisfied with the final job. To Bob's credit, once I pointed out my final facts and concerns, he agreed there were some legitimate concerns. He agreed that I had been placed in an awkward position. I should not have had to ask for some of the corrections that were called for, or put into the supervisory position to ensure the work was done properly. He explained this was not the norm for his crew or company. I felt he did care that his reputation was at stake and he did want to keep me as a very satisfied customer. Bob and I always seemed to be able to talk freely and frankly about all aspects of the job, so I thank him sincerely for that. I feel he does care about his integrity and the quality of work his company puts out. I wish I could give all A's, but in fairness to the purpose of Angie's List, I must provide the facts and the corresponding scores. I do believe Fleet Concrete can and will provide a very good job under Bob's guidance.
Description of Work: I had damage from a heavy truck at the street end of my concrete driveway and sidewalk. Fleet Concrete tore out the damaged sections back to good uncracked concrete. The old driveway had a curve at the end of it, so they had to cut a portion of the old driveway off with a concrete saw, to remove the curve. They laid out the new driveway in a better looking and more functional straight line. The house is on a cul-de-sac so they laid out the replacement sidewalk in the appropriate arc or radius. I also had them pour a separate 8x12' concrete slab with a ramp in the backyard for a shed.

They were very good. They gave me the proposal on 29 June 2010 and they did the work within 2 weeks of that. They did an excellent job. They came back to make sure that I was satisfied with it and they cleaned up a little bit. I had them do something extra and they didn't charge me for it, which was nice. They were very courteous. The guy is a good salesman. He knows what he is doing. He is very workmanlike and gets it done real quickly. He told me that he would have it done on one day and he actually had it done sooner than that. I had a price come in at about $1000.00 less than him, but I didn't dare touch it. I had 2 others come in right about where he was on price. I would use Fleet Concrete again in the future.

I contracted with someone else and I think they subcontracted to the Fleet Concrete, I don't know the names of the people who did the concrete but they did a beautiful job and it must be Fleet. They were the only people I had. They were quick when they show up and they did a really nice job. They did a patio floor and it was all part of the bill for the entire patio enclosure. They subcontracted from the guy who did the whole patio enclosure so I don't know what they charged. They got here quickly. They didn't mess with the work and they did a beautiful job and quickly. I was very impressed with them and with the operation of the whole patio. They were very professional. I will use them again in the future.

What a friendly and reliable company! Bob came for the estimate when promised. Listened to what we wanted and offered excellent suggestions. We know nothing about concrete and so this company could have gotten away without doing the excellent job they did and we would have been no wiser. For example, they gave the concrete a "broom finish" so it is less slippery when wet. That is the type of little thing that means a lot; especially when we didn't know enough to ask for it. They came when promised, worked hard and efficiently, cleaned up beautifully. We recommend them to anyone who needs concrete work.
Description of Work: Fleet Concrete created a new concrete porch/entrance and a sidewalk where before there was only sand and mulch. To do so they had to excavate and grade the area, remove part of an existing concrete pad by the front door, and pour the new porch and sidewalk. They also helped us remove a large root and prop up the corner of the entrance roof. Their work is gorgeous and we give them the highest recommendation. Because of the care they took with this job, we only wish they did other jobs we need done [terrazo].

I used Fleet Concrete for two big slabs in my house. The job was done about 10 years ago and to this day there is not one single crack or defect in these slabs. One was done for a 350 sq ft gym and the other is big balcony. They were very professional from start to finish.
Description of Work: I've used this company several times and have referred them to my neigbors. They did not perform this last job due to some home insurance issues and not their fault. There was some water sipping through the foundation into the house and instead of coming up with some weird reason why they should do the jib, the owner was very frank and gave me some recommendations on what to do. They may not be the cheapest folks in town, but they certainly deliver quality service.

I knew it would be expensive but was hoping to find some way to reduce the size of the driveway, or create "strip" parking spaces (concrete strip under each wheel w/ground cover or gravel between strips) to reduce the cost. Unfortunately due to city codes for my property, which Bob was good enough to check for me, it is not possible. If I could afford the job, I would not hesitate to have Fleet do the work.

Overall it went very well. The arbortist arrived at the scheduled time, but Fleet was a little late due to a mechanical problem with their equipment trailer. They brought a small backhoe, Bobcat and dump truck for hauling away debris. The removal went quickly as the concrete was mostly broken up already. The arborist examined the exposed roots, did the pruning and determined the location and size of the circular indentation while other roots were being removed and the area dug down to grade. The forms were installed including the circular indentation. The job was planned around a 16 x 25 foot rectangle as the size of the circular indentation was unknow at the time. The actual size of the indentation turned out to be about 25 square feet so Fleet offered to replace 18 square feet of adjoing front walk. Work was interrupted by a brief rain shower which made compaction of the soil unnecessary. Accumulated water was removed. The concrete truck showed up at just the right time. It took all the concrete the truck had, 5 1/2 cubic yards, to just barely complete the driveway. After the floating was completed, one crew member was left to complete the finishing as the concrete setup. The crew to cut the crooves, remove the forms and cleanup was supposed to return the next day around noon, but didn't show up until around 5pm. While this didn't affect the overall quality of Fleet's work it would've been nice if they had called as I hung around all afternoon waiting for them all afternoon. Overall, I very pleased with the quality and timeliness of their work and their willingness to work with others on a project that was more complex than the usual. I had some bids somewhat lower, but I didn't feel I'd get the cooperation or coordination that would be needed for this project using an independent arborist. I'd use Fleet again, but I'd be more proactive in communicating with them.
Description of Work: A laurel oak tree was planted too close my concrete driveway in 1988. The roots over time had severly broken up half of the concrete so the whole thing had to been replaced. While the driveway was a simple 16 x 25 foot rectangle, a large circular indentation in the concrete next to the tree had to be included to accommodate the roots that could not be pruned back any shorter to save the tree. Fleet worked with an arborist I selected, who would prune the roots and was onsite simultaneouly to determine the position and size of the indentation. All the existing driveway concrete was removed and hauled away. All roots underneath the exisiting driveway were also removed and the whole area dug down to grade except for the circular indentation area. After all the forms were in place, including the circular indentation, the concrete was poured to 4 inches thick, floated and left with a light broom finish. The concrete mixture contained fibers and was poured without using a steel mesh. Two of the crew returned the next day to cut the grooves to control possible future cracking, remove the forms and cleanup. A plastic tape barrier was left up to prevent the driveway from being used for the next 7 days to allow the concrete time to sufficiently harden. Any needed landscaping repairs was not part of the project. Filling the circular indentation with washed shell and compacting it was not part of the project.

Everything went great and I would reccomend Bob and Fleet Concrete in the future
Description of Work: Bob the ower came out within 2 days to discuss the project I had in mind. It was quite a bit of this and that...a path to the shed, a large patio out back, two strips to drive the car on and a small deck at the bottom of some stairs. He knew exactly what I wanted and really seemed as though he had experiece in the area of this type of multiple jobs. He would have gotten the job done in one day, but we requested that the material be moved back and forth by wheelbarrell as we were afraid to damage some of the big trees with the backloader although it was small. HIs brother did an excellant job digging the area for the base and his crew that laid the pavers were excellant and very nice...again having to move all the pavers by wheel barrell!! They even did a great job cleaning up afterwards..Everyone was very nice to work with, very freindly and efficient and overall did a wonderful job. I was very pleased with the results and we are haveing his crew come back to clean and reseal some older pavers. Very nice, very pleasant, very professional work.. GREAT JOB!!

Our entry area to either side of walkway leading up to the doorway had been filled with mulch. Quite unsightly. We wanted to either place pavers or concrete to create a solid flooring for a porch. We chose to have concrete laid and called Bob of Fleet Concrete. He is a man of integrity and has pride in his product. He made some recommendations as to what would would be beneficial to us. The work was done as promised and completed within the day. I would definitely use him again. Ask to see previous work he has done around the area, quite impressive.

Bob came out to the house to make sure what steps needed to be taken in order to re-seal our pavers. He determined that we would need the pavers to have sand brushed back into them, power wash them and then re-seal the entire area. The project was pricey based on what we already have spent on the the paver project, but we want to keep our pavers looking good. We didn't consider the up keep on the pavers prior to the installation. The guys did a great job just like they did on the original project. We were very pleased.

Beautiful job! We're extremely happy with it. We were impressed with Bob, the owner, from the first appointment. He obviously loves his work and is very professional and responsive about it. Very easy to work with and kept us informed during all stages of the process. We also really enjoyed the crews he brought in to do the jobs. They were often lead by his brothers who were also very professional and easy to work with. The workers were very polite, respectful and did good work. overall i could not have been happier. Bob made sure that we were happy, he did eveything in his power to make sure that things were done correctly and checked with me everystep of the way to make sure we were on the same page. the installers were great and at they were friendly and skilled and did a great job. This was the first time i had ever hired someone to do this size of a project or spend this much money on a home improvement project, so i was really nervous about making the right decisions. I had hemmed and hawed for a long time about what color the pavers should be and what we were going to use. at no point did i feel rushed or pressured to make a decision and get on with it. both bob and rose visited my house and gave there opinions on what would look best and gave guidance from there professional experience but alwasys listened to what i wanted and were really great to work with. they were not the cheapest but they were not the most expensive either and the quality of the work and the ease to work with them, made them a excellent value for what we got. i would highly recommend them to others and plan to use them when we put new pavers on the front steps and walkway UPDATE: the quality of the work gets compliments every time we have someone over. This is a second report on the same work and the reason i felt i needed to do another one is because of all the comments i have received about it. I truly feel that we got a great job for the money.
