I called BladesAway and left a message asking for an estimate to be done on my new property. Bill called me that same day and we set up an appointment the following week. Bill confirmed the appointment the day before, and he showed up on time. Bill surveyed the property with my husband. My husband was generally unhappy with the conversation because Bill was unable to tell us if our trees were still alive and did not give us advice on what to do with them. (An arborist confirmed the next day that they were both alive and gave us information on both types of trees.) He often got off topic, making the appointment take much longer than necessary. Bill was upfront that his costs were not the cheapest, and he quoted us at $175 per month for lawn services. Bill then texted me the following reply the next day: "After visiting your property, I have decided I am no longer interested in providing lawn services to your location. Thank you for calling BladesAway, Bill." I have no clue what prompted this, but I certainly felt that this was an inappropriate way to let a potential customer know. I had another lawn company not able to do the work because we were outside of their zone, but at least I received an apologetic phone call from that company. I cannot say the same for BladesAway.

Blades Away is the most professional yard maintenance service we've used, and we have tried--and rejected--many others. Bill Sims, the proprietor, conducts business with exemplary integrity and the highest quality, and he is tremendously helpful and a delight to do business with. He explains everything fully, from his services to his pricing. He even put us in touch with the perfect yard maintenance provider for our other much smaller property with a fully xerascaped yard -- a certified Florida Master Gardener, who is equipped for smaller and more extensively planted yards. Blades Away arrives on schedule, does the work efficiently and thoroughly, and cleans up all grass cuttings and leaves from the driveway. If Bill encounters fallen branches from the oak trees after a wind storm, he stacks them by the trash cans for removal. Bill adds value to his service in many little ways. For the price of $150 per service on our 1.5 acres, we get two people using two large riding mowers and all other necessary professional equipment and materials (like weed killer) for a bit longer than two hours. For $37.50/hour/person, that's a bargain, given what gas must cost to pull his huge, fully-enclosed equipment trailer and the time to clean the mower blades -- never mind his equipment maintenance costs and time. We have contracted for ongoing service, weekly during the four wettest months (which our grass needs, given the rich soil in our area), once monthly during the driest months, and twice monthly the rest of the time, for a total of 30 services/year. If we're not at home when Blades Away visits, Bill leaves a reminder of the date of our next lawn service hanging on the front door.

Bill is an extraordinary professional. He is great explaining what his services entail. He is very thorough and does an amazing job in the yard. My yard has sincerely improved in its appearance since Bill has done my lawn service. Always on time and if there is any delay he communicates when the work will be completed.

Bill has been taking care of my lawn for several years and he does an excellent job in all areas. He has gone out of his way on several occasions to resolve issues and provides suggestions on how to improve my lawn. The $125.00 figure above is monthly.

We?ve been using Bladesaway for a little over a year now and are very happy with the service. The yard always looks good, they let us know when they see something unusual and at the time of year when they don?t come every week they are very good about letting us know when to expect them next.

I had had multiple lawn mowing companies do our lawn. Unfortunately, our lawn has very little grass and a lot of other stuff. The other services never paid attention to the other stuff, which constitutes leaf removal, trimming bushes, small trees, and just about anything else Bill can think to do. He usually spends more than an hour a week on my yard, which accounts for the price. I don't want to focus on the price, however, but the results. My blow and go lawn care companies before Bill used a weed eater to do my main front lawn. As I said it is small and I suppose that they thought that the amount of grass wasn't worth getting the lawn mower out. Well, week after week of that caused then to dig the spin line into the yard such that the lawn finally died from the destruction caused by not using a mower, but instead using a spin trimmer. In addition, they blew all of the leaves under the trees. At the time Bill started taking care of the yard, I had ankle deep leaves under the trees. The acidity in these leaves probably also assisted with the destruction of my lawn. When Bill began taking care of my lawn my front yard was just a little better than a patch of dirt. He has brought it along slowly, mowing it correctly, keeping the leaves removed and my yard has a lot of leaves. Now, the entire front yard is green. It is all not grass yet, but the grass is slowly filling in. I believe that most of the damage will be corrected between 6 mos and a year from now. I had been paying anywhere from $120-$160/month for a lawn service that ultimately killed my lawn. I guess I got what I paid for with Bill. No one else will ever touch my lawn.

Bill has been taking of our lawn for a little over a year. He's very meticulious with his work and also very punctual. He can always be counted on to arrive on his scheduled week for service. He does all the work himself so you know that its going to be done right. Bill is very trustworthy and will take the time to let me know if there is anything in my yard that he see's needs attention. If you are particular about your yard I highly recommend Blades Away for lawn service care.

My Lawnmower died and the grass was very high when I contacted Bill. He came by and we discussed a one time service that included cutting and edging the lawn as well as completely trimming and weeding the front hedge and garden and trimming 2 trees. He was very professional and made sure that he had an accurate understanding of what I exactly wanted done. Bill also asked me to contact him after he was finished to make sure that I was satisfied with the work. We then arranged for ongoing weekly service for the lawn until my mower is repaired. He has been taking care of the lawn for 2 months now and I may never get the mower repaired.

Bill is a miracle worker. The lawn was overgrown, had dead trees and needed a complete make-over. Bill arrived promptly and completely transformed, both the front and back yards, into a nicely manicured, clean yard. It's perfect for showing the house now. Would defintely recommend Bill!!

Once again, Bill proved that he is a pro! Bill did a similar clean-up for me last year, and I wrote a review singing his praises. I called again this year for the same service. Bill arrived to give me an estimate, on time as always, and explained everything to me in detail. He got to work right away and worked ALL DAY, from morning until night, until the job was done. The result was amazing! My yard looks absolutely beautiful. Bill hand-weeded some beds that were complete disasters...now they are gorgeous! He also gave me advice on how to care for the yard in the future. Bill is the most hard-working, straightforward, professional person I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Bill Sims answered my call to evaluate the work that needed to be done promptly and gave me an estimate and work date right on the spot. He showed me exactly what he would be doing in each area. The work was completed in a timely fashion and the grounds look so much better for it. Bill is extremely hardworking and meticulous and takes pride in what he does. I recommend him highly.

He did not perform any work. I needed to make a quick decision and I went with another company. He did everything as agreed and I did not get back to him.

Bill is a miracle worker. He transformed our yard from an overgrown mess to a beautiful, sculptured showplace! I met with Bill, who showed up promptly and professionally, to assess the situation. He explained all of the possibilities to me and developed a series of options. Once we decided on a plan, he double and triple-checked every item with me to make sure that he understood my specifications for shrub heights, weed removal, yard waste removal, etc...Then he got to work. By the afternoon, there were over 30 bags of yard waste, which he took to the dump. Customer service is very important to me. Bill did an outstanding job in this regard from beginning to end. I would recommend him to anyone. He is such a kind man, who is intent on understanding your needs, and ensuring you are satisfied. He showed up when he was supposed to and worked very hard for part of the day to complete the job. During the original estimate he gave me a couple options on the leaf removal. He said he could bag them, but it would be $20 more than if he just blew them into the mulched area (which had a lot of leaves in it anyway). I opted for him to blow them into the mulched area. The day he did the work it was a little windy and blowing the leaves created a lot of dust. He was so considerate to me and my neighbors that he decided to bag the leaves anyway. He told me that he would stick to his original estimate. I gave him the extra $20 anyway because I thought he did such a fantastic job; and I was sooo impressed with the customer care. The other minor complaint I had was that I wished the bushes weren't trimmed back quite so much, but they still look just fine.

Our yard has been neglected for years and the previous lawn care providers simply didn't care. In addition we had attempted to plant grass beneath a live oak and it failed every time. The previous lawn care provider told us it was due to acidic soil and we would never be able to grow grass beneath the live oak trees. We are so happy we found Bill (owner) of Blades Away, "the lawn practice". He treats our yard as if it were his own. Every time he visits he looks for ways he can improve the overall appearance of our yard. We now have grass beneath our live oak trees. Bill is an amazing lawn care provider. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

They were wonderful. They came out on short notice, performed extra work that was added along the way with no complaint, and the quality of the work was excellent. The job took two full days and I and my mother could not have been happier with the work.

Bill was very professional, hard working, and honest. Our flower beds, trees, and yard were extremely over-grown and Bill did an absolutely amazing job in cleaning out and trimming all of the excessive over-growth and debris, making our yard looking better than it has in years! We highly recommend Bill and will most definitely call him again!
