Bill's On The Spot Lawn Mower Repair

Very reasonable, nice guy, and very fast!

Called on a Saturday morning to drop off my poorly running lawn mower. Dropped off in early afternoon and was quoted $45 plus parts. Received call that it was ready for pick up just 1.5 hours later. Mower now runs great.

When my regular place to complete tune-ups on my lawn mower was unable to handle servicing my machine, I went looking for someone else and found Bill's on the Spot. I called to arrange an appointment, and he was able to receive my machine that day and promised it would be ready the next day. The machine was ready as promised, including demonstration that it was working well again. The next day, however, when I tried to use the machine, it would not start. I loaded the mower back up and headed back to Bill's, where we discovered a fuel pump problem was causing all fuel put in to drain right out. He called around and found a replacement part, which I picked up and he installed, only asking a slight additional payment for the extra time he put in to make the job right. Even though he is farther away than the servicing place I had been using, I will take my machine back to Bill when the mowing season starts up again.

I found Bills on the Spot from the Internet after reading a number of reviews. Bill has a one man operation form his garage, so I left a message and he called me back on a break. When I described the problem, he told me to bring it right in. The lawnmower was ready in a day and a half, and he called me to pick it up. He showed me the parts he had replaced and helped me load the lawnmower. He was very courteous and did excellent work. There was an incredible difference in how much smoother the lawn mower ran and the self-propel feature worked fine.

My blower would shut off while using it. Found Bill on Angies list. Called and he was able to take me the next day. Dropped off item at 4pm and he knew immediately what the issue was and showed me that the fuel line was broken off inside the fuel tank. He had the repair completed the following morning. I do believe the bench fee is too high ($45) compared to other mower places ($20) However the expediency of the repair out weighed the cost in this case. I would use him again.

Great. After I discovered Bill on Angie's list I gave him a call as my mover started having rattling sounds and the engine was not running well. I took my mower there, explained my problem and Bill told me he could have it back up and running well in an hour. That's about exactly what it took for him. He explained what he did and gave me maintainance advice. He was very pleasant and professional and sure knows what he is doing. I am very pleased and will be back again.

I am not sure if I should use them again.

Called Bill, he explained pricing and gave me the directions to his Davis island location. Dropped it off the next day (the Friday before Memorial Day weekend) and he had it ready for me on Tuesday afternoon as promised. He reviewed with me the parts he had to replace and the pricing was very reasonable. It is working great!

Bill is great, and I would certainly recommend his work, and if needed, I would use his company again. He answered the phone, provided an overview of what it would cost to perform the repairs, and provided a couple of days/times that he could complete the work. I brought my mower to him, he made the repairs, completed everything on time, and my bill was exactly what he estimated.

Like the member in the previous review, we also made the 20+ mile journey to Bill's shop and I must say we would do it again in a heartbeat. My husband had snapped a screw off on a blade cover and had no idea on how to repair it. So I found Bill's name on Angie's List and we called immediately. Within a short period of time Bill returned our call and said that he could fix it. We offered to make the trip to the south end of town to drop off the mower. Bill does have a very neatly kept shop and is extremely busy so we weren't sure if he wanted us to leave the mower or pick it up later in the day. He was kind enough to offer to fix it as soon as possible. We did some sightseeing and he called us back within a half an hour to say the mower was fixed. I realize a lot of people would not say this, but I wish Bill would have us charged more than he did considering he went through a few drill bits to resolve the problem. However, he was very gracious and said it was all in a days work. What a nice person! Not only would we recommend Bill, but we are planning on bringing him our pressure cleaner for a tune-up. I am not surprised that he is an award winner.

Neither would start due to years of storage and not being used. I called ahead to make sure the shop was open and made the same day, 21-mile, one-way trek from Carrollwood/Northdale. Both were ready for pick-up in less than 24 hours. Pricing is fair and competitive. The shop is well organized and clean, and Bill is very professional. Both machines now run like champions. Bill is very busy in the shop and on the road making house calls at times, so call ahead. If voicemail picks up, be sure to leave a message as he will promptly return your call. While I was onsite, I did overhear him tell another customer that he was planning to take advantage of some well-deserved free time coming up to update his company profile on this site, I.E. full address, e-mail, days and hours of operation, brand/model exceptions, house call areas of service, etc. Needless to say, I am very happy with my decision(s) to give up on a mower shop 1.5 miles from my home (as they were never open) and give Bill a shot. I find it amazing to experience just how difficult it is for someone to take my money... (in this economy, no less).

I called Bill who said I could bring it by his shop or offered to come to me for a couple bucks more. He called on his way, showed up on time, and completed his work quickly. Lawn mower is running like new!

I have spent a lot of money over the years buying all the various attachments for my Ryobi gas powered trimmer to include the edger and blower. I got up one morning to do the landscaping and the trimmer would not start. I replaced the spark plug and still had no luck. I found Bill on Angie's List and gave him a call. He was able to get me in and make the repair the same day. I was very impressed with his knowledge and his price. I spent $52 for the repair instead of paying twice as much for replacement and adding yet another broken power tool to the land fill. I will definitely use Bill again in the future.

Bill was great! I called him and he acepted my mower the same day. When I got it home and mowed the lawn....it was like using a brand new mower. I will take my mower to him annually from now on! He was fairly priced, on time and very knowledgable.

He is knowledgeable and professional. He completed the repairs on schedule and called us to let us know. We will definitely use him again.

My gas powered Troy-Bilt trimmer would not start, I had changed the spark plug and still did not want to start. I took it to Bill in the morning and by that afternoon it was ready for pickup. I picked it up after work. I will recommend Bill to my friends.

I couldn't be happier with the results. None of the equipment is anywhere near new - 8, 10 and 15+ years old, but they're all running very well now. Bill is very skilled at fixing gas engines, genuinely cares about the quality of his work and spends the time to make sure the customer understands what they can do to help keep the equipment in good shape. We paid a little more to have Bill come to the house because at my age I didn't want to haul the three items to his shop. I didn't think the Echo blower/shredder could be fixed because it hadn't been used in 15 years, but Bill got it running within a few minutes. He was punctual and thorough and I will definitely use him again. I highly recommend Bill!

Great! We took our tools there and he looked at them and said he could fix both, no problem for $45.00 each. We left, he called when they were readly-that day and it was wonderful!

It was excellent. Bill called prior to coming over, arrived on time and completed everything in a reasonable period of time. My only disappointment, and that was really quite minor, was that I needed a cable that he did not carry but could only be picked up at a Toro dealership. I was astounded at the 'gunk' he found in the pressure washer. Bill tore down and rebuilt the carburetor on the pressure washer. The evaporated gas clogged up the works. Overall, a great job and I will use Bill again.

I drove my pressure washer up to Davis Island from Saint Petersburg based on Angie's List recommendation for Bill's On The Spot. While Bill primarily does mobile repair work, I had access to a truck and didn't query Bill about whether or not his service area covered St. Petersburg (I don't think it does, although you may be able to negotiate that with Bill for a fee?). My engine was repaired within 3 days. Bill was pleasant to interact with.
