Alan Hamilton Ceramic

Alan worked a very long day and got the backsplash installed and grouted, it went great. Added a nice trim detail that I did not even think about, I was very happy that I hired Alan to do the work.

Alan Hamilton is an outstanding professional tile installer. He worked steadily for 4 days and left us with clean, beautiful floors.The breakfast room parquet floor had been damaged by subterranean termites; the bathroom had been carpeted for many years. We would highly recommend Alan Hamilton for excellent floor tile work..

Alan did a tremendous job. My husband and I work in the yacht industry and expect perfection. Alan delivered! He took his time and made it look good and still finished earlier than expected. Won't use anyone else for tile work. We highly recommend him.

I could write a lot of sentences, but then you might miss the important words... quality work, great service, good price, nice people! Very pleased! Would absolutely use again! Now the details... Diane came out and estimated the project. She was on time, friendly, and offered better suggestions than other companies that provided a quote. She also offered to co-ordinate the plumber which worked out very well. I won't go into those details, but she went above and beyond expectations. Alan showed up right on schedule to do the work. He was very careful about protecting our property and kept right did a wonderful job of replacing the tile and installed a recessed shelf and rails. Again... very pleased with Alan and Diane!

Excellent. Scheduled repairs and Alan always showed up on time each day and kept on schedule. Very happy with the results, Alan blended the new tile to make the required repairs with the 16 year old tile and it really looks great. Very happy with the craftsmanship.

Work was scheduled to begin on 11/10 and started on that date. Mr. Hamilton showed up as planned and worked diligently for the next 7 working days. During the demolition, Alan was careful to keep area clean. He showed us different design options along the way, especially the bench. His bid was the most professional and realistic, everything was up front with no surprises. He did a high quality job. My wife and I really love or new bathroom. I waited this long to write this review to see if any unexpected problems had arisen in the last 4 months. There has not been any problem with his work.

Work was scheduled to begin on 10/16. We received a call on 10/10 asking if Alan could start on 10/13. We agreed. Mr. Hamilton showed up as planned and worked diligently for the next 8 working days. Throughout the project, and especially during the demolition, he was careful to protect our property. This was important because a portion of the existing shower needed to be protected from damage (no replacement tiles existed or could be purchased). Throughout the project he conferred with us about options, such as tile layout pattern and grout color. He employed techniques most likely to enhance both cosmetic and structural performance. For example, he could have replaced a bench in the shower with a simple wooden frame covered with drywall and tile. Instead he constructed a cinderblock and cement board structure that was completely waterproofed, then covered with tile. It is far sturdier and less likely to develop cracks and leaks than the original construction. While his bid was not the cheapest, he never engaged in upselling or "unforeseen costs" scenarios. He did a quality job for the quoted price. The result was attractive and likely to be much more durable than the original.

I purchased it for one of my homes but they were not able to do the work there. I held onto the deal thinking I'd use it in the future but never had a need so decided to cancel it. The receptionist was very nice to talk to even though I didn't need work done. I would definitely call them if I needed work done int he future.

Eventhough we decided to go another route with our bathroom remodel, they were superb in response and providing an estimate on the spot. Informative and took the time to go over their services and shared pictures of past jobs. I would absolutely contact them for a future estimate as we are doing more remodeling in the future.

Very professional. I would recommend Mr. Hamilton anytime. Both he and his wife were very knowledgeable and honest.

When I began caulk prep for my guest shower, it became apparent to me that there was far more wear in the shower than I had thought. Existing caulk, grout and even some tile were loose and needed more attention than I knew how to accomplish. I searched Angie's List for contractors whose specialty is in the area I needed and selected a few to talk with. After talking with some providers of service I decided to have a meeting with Diane Hamilton because she seemed both knowledgeable and will to discuss a full range of repair options rather than just discuss shower replacement. Our meeting went very well as she explained all our options and provided a list of them and costs depending on (1) if exact replacement tile could be located and (2) our preferences as to how much we wanted to spend. At that point we (my wife and I) agreed to have Hamiltion Ceramic do the work and when to start. In the interim we were able to locate exact tile so we chose the option of partial shower replacement rather than the entire shower. Alan showed up exactly on time and began the project after explaining in detail how the shower repair would be accomplished. During the four days it took to do the job, Alan paused at significant milestones and explained what he was doing so I had a full understanding of the underlying work being done. I really appreciated him taking the time to do this, just for my peace of mind. Every day Alan cleaned up not only the work area before leaving, but also cleaned up the egress to the home and shower and left things tidy. At the completion, we could not have been more pleased with the project. We decided to use a shower curtain vice the previously installed shower doors as I find the curtains more convenient. Very happy with our Alan Hamilton Ceramic experience. I plan on asking them to do some other projects in the future and would recommend them to others.

Alan has worked for us before...would not want anyone else doing our tile. He made sure that we were able to stay in the house (we did all the living area of the house) and manage. He does beautiful work and you can see the pride he puts into it. We just love Alan and would not want to hire anyone else to do our tile work.

I wish they were a little more attentive to my home. They cut the tile inside the house, which left dust all over my paintings and possessions. I had to have a housecleaner come out and clean up. He wasn’t able to finish the installation, and I’ll have someone else do it.

Diane came out and gave me an estimate and also gave me ideas on what kind of tub to buy. She gave me an estimate on the work and suggestions on where to buy the tile and border. I hired my own plumber and alan and diane coordinated with him. Alan demolished my bathroom and had to reframe the entire area as the wood was rotted. He built the frame for the new bathtub and then tiled the entire shower and bath area, including the wall. I also had him put in a kitchen backsplash. He had to come back to finish the job as the plumbing fixtures were not in and I did have some difficulty scheduling his second visit since he is a one man business and had other jobs lined up after mine. He did an excellent job overall, my only complaint is that there was grout lines not filled in and when he returned to complete the bathroom, I showed him the visible grout line that was not filled in in the kitchen and he said he didn't have any of the grout and would need to come back. I would expect him to schedule a time with me but my impression was that he would never come back unless I actually call him. There is also a long grout line missing grout in my bathroom that I didn't notice until he left as it as lower. The entire 12 inch tile had no grout on the bottom edge. He did not leave any grout for me so I don't even know what color to use. I plan to call them and ask for the grout color and fill it in myself or hire another handyman to do it. My two neighbors who used him also said they had missing grout and one ended up doing it herself. He does beautiful work, but I think he needs to ensure all the grout is complete as it does look unfinished when there is long lines of grout missing. Alan is a very nice person and, besides the grout lines missing, did a great job. But I had to give a B overall due to the scheduling delay and the grout lines.

He started one week later than originally scheduled date. When he said he would be here by 8am, he was usually 15 minutes late. When he removed the old shower tiles, he damaged walls and my husband had to repaired it. I did not think he was detail oriented and I was kind of disappointed in his work. Tiles he put down on the floor were uneven and he had to redo some of the tiles he had already laid. Grout was missing in numerous areas. His price was very fair, but his work did not measure up to my expectation. It took more than one month to complete my small master bathroom!

Alan did a great job re-tiling our bathroom floors and walls. It's a great custom job. He cleaned up well. He even came back later to fix a few things that did not get finished. I would consider using him again for some kitchen work!

The people were very responsive and prompt. Mrs. Hamilton came out to view the shower to be replaced. She was exceptionally knowledgeable about the business, the construction codes, and the products. She brought a large portfolio of photos of other jobs that Mr. Hamilton has done. Ver impressive. We discussed the job, the options that were available, and she prepared a quote. I reviewed that quote and accepted it a couple of days later. We scheduled the work. We had to adjust the schedule by a couple of days because of another outdoor tile job that he had that was delayed by rain. That worked out just fine. Mr. Hamilton (Alan) called each day to advise me that he was on his way. He arrived well prepared and was very friendly. He used the garage as a staging area. He covered the carpet from the garage door to the the bathroom to prevent soiling. He worked continuously for five days on the project, and he installed everything according to code. He was fastidious in cleaning and removing debris. He was meticulous in his attention to installing the new shower stall and its tile. He built a custom recessed shelf that we hadn't had before, complete with a nice slant to provide water runoff. He coordinated with a plumber to handle replacement piping for the new control handle (which we picked out and purchased in advance). That all went well. They recommended two source for replacement shower doors, and we used one of them. The doors were measured and will be installed next Friday. Overall I would recommend this company for similar tiling jobs. Mr. Hamilton is a craftsman and not just a 'worker' installing tile. I was impressed and believe the job was worth the price.

All went very well. I should have called him in the first place. The job took about 4 days to complete, and the job site was left neat and tidy every evening so that we could still use the bathroom during the repair. Communication was excellent if any problems arose. His wife, Diane, handled the estimate and explained everything thouroughly. I will definately use them again when I have my bathtub surround repaired.

Had leaking problems but came back and redid work.

This is an extraordinarily difficult, messy, and labor-intensive task. Alan showed up, went right to work, completed the job in just a few hours, creating much less mess than I would have anticipated. He cleaned up after himself and left the place looking good. The quality of the work was outstanding. I was more than satisfied with the result.

Mr. Hamilton was very nice and professional. The job was completed in a short time and I was very happy with the result.

The new shower looks great. It took a little longer than I thought it would, but Mr. Hamilton is a professional and wanted things to be done correctly. I am pleased with the outcome.

I had to literally finish the job myself. The day before he was suppose to finish the job he asked me to pay him in advance. The next day he was suppose to be finished. He did not finish the edging where the wall was suppose to be. He caulked it instead that is pulling away. He let gobs of cement on the marble, I had to take razor blades to do. He did not finish caulking and now getting mold there.

If you are looking for someone who takes his time to do a job right instead of rushing, Alan is your man. I have no idea as to how he manages to be so quiet. He believes in " His work is a reflection of a man" that explains pretty much everything. Alan, explained what is was going to do and took into consideration our ideas and started working on it, he was not satisfied with the design that was emanating from what we decided first, he came up with a better design that makes our kitchen look even better in our eyes. He was very clean with his workspace and would clean up after he left at the end of the day. Diane was flexible to move our schedule around to accommodate our needs, and she was helpful in picking the grout color when we were not sure of our choices. Overall, I would have no qualms about recommending them to anyone for their back-splash work.
