Description of Work: Ken came out to clean 7 rooms plus stairs and a hallway. He arrived late, but did call. The work was good except that two days later stains started to re-appear in my master bedroom. This is the second time that I have used Accent America and was more impressed the first time. The BIGGEST problem I had was with the phone estimate. The woman who answers the phone told me the cost would be $69 plus $2.50 per step. Then when the service was done the bill was $377. I did agree to an additional charge of $35 for an area rug, but was astonished by the huge increase in what was quoted over the phone. When I told Ken, he just said, "that was impossible", and did NOTHING to rectify the situation or try to make me happy by atleast offering some type of discount (not even an Angie's List discount). It is a shame in today's economy that businesses still try to rip people off. My mistake, but their loss of business. While the work is good DEFINETELY get any estimate in writting.

WE BELIEVE THE MEMBER MAY HAVE CONFUSED OUR CONVERSATION WITH HER REGARDING PRICE WITH ANOTHER CONTRACTOR, ESPECIALLY AS SHE USED OUR SERVICES IN DECEMBER OF 2006 AND PAID A SIMILAR PRICE TO THE ONE SHE WAS CHARGED FOR SERVICES ON THIS OCCASION, SO THE MEMBER WAS AWARE OF OUR PRICING PRIOR TO HER CALLING US TO SCHEDULE SERVICES. ALL OF OUR CLIENTS ARE QUOTED USING THE SAME FORMAT FOR TRAFFIC LANE CLEANING, $90 FOR THE FIRST TWO ROOMS, $35 EACH ADDITIONAL ROOM, AREAS 250 SF OR MORE ARE CONSIDERED 2 ROOMS, AND STEPS ARE $2.50 PER STEP. THE QUOTE GIVEN FOR 7 ROOMS IS $265.00, NOT $69.00, AND DURING THE TELEPHONE CONVERSATION THE MEMBER HAD WITH LISA JORDAN, THE VP OF THE COMPANY, THE FIGURE OF $69 WAS NEVER DISCUSSED FOR ANY OF OUR SERVICES. THE MEMBER HAS NEVER CONTACTED US REGARDING HER RECURRING SPOTS, WHICH ARE A COMMON PROBLEM AND ARE CAUSED BY SPILLS OR BY THE CLIENT SPOT CLEANING USING NON-RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS. THE CARPET CLEANING PROCESS REMOVES THE DIRT AND SOIL FROM THE CARPET, ALLOWING THE RESIDUES FROM THE PRODUCT USED BY THE CLIENT TO WICK BACK TO THE SURFACE, AND THESE RESIDUES THEN ATTRACT DIRT WHICH RESULTS IN THE BROWN OR BLACK SPOTS. THESE SPOTS ARE NOT A RESULT OF OUR CLEANING PROCESS, AND WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CAUSING THEM. WE DO PRINT THIS INFORMATION ON OUR INVOICES, AS WELL AS THE REMEDY WHICH IS THE USE OF WHITE VINEGAR APPLIED TO THE AREA AND BLOTTED OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL DAYS. FOR PROPER SPOT CLEANING EXCEPT FOR PET SPOTS, WE RECOMMEND THE USE OF 1 PART WHITE AMMONIA TO 4 PARTS WATER, SPRAYED ONTO THE AREA AND BLOTTED WITH A WHITE TOWEL. FOR PET SPOTS WE RECOMMEND BLOTTING THE AREA AND APPLYING BAKING SODA. LET SIT FOR 24 HOURS, THEN VACUUM. POUR WHITE VINEGAR OVER THE AREA AND ALLOW TO STOP BUBBLING. BLOT WITH A WHITE TOWEL, AND RE-APPLY VINEGAR. REPEAT UNTIL THERE IS NO FURTHER BUBBLING, BLOT THOROUGHLY AND LET DRY. THESE AND OTHER SPOT CLEANING TIPS ARE POSTED ON OUR WEBSITE. AS FOR THE MEMBER NOT RECEIVING A DISCOUNT, WE DO OFFER A 10% DISCOUNT ON OUR CLEANING SERVICES TO ANGIE'S LIST MEMBERS, BUT THE CLIENT MUST INDICATE TO US EITHER AT THE TIME OF BOOKING OR THE TIME OF CLEANING THAT THEY ARE MEMBERS OF ANGIE'S LIST AND WE DO ASK FOR VERIFICATION EITHER BY PROVIDING A PRINT OUT OF OUR COUPON FROM THE WEBSITE OR A COPY OF THE ANGIE'S LIST MAGAZINE.
