Anthony DiChristopher completed the Major Appliance Technician Training & Certification Program in 2006 and has been working for his dad ever since. Alison DiChristopher runs the office and day to day operations. We are truly a family owned and operated business. We pride ourselves on outstanding customer service, quality repairs and fair prices. Let me start by saying that I chose this company based on the above average reviews on this site leading me to believe that the company was not only trustworthy but could be helpful over the phone saving the customer money. I have learned from this experience that there is no way all of those reviews are truthful and I question whether they are even legitimate. From my first call to make an appt. I was met with a curt tone almost as if I was bothering her. I provided her with information as to my son trying to diagnose the problem and what he had done based self help internet information and still both freezer and refrigerator were not working. She told me that there was no way to determine what was wrong with it until they looked at it and provided me their first available 3 working days later and the amount of their service charge of $68. They could not tell me the time they would be arriving only that they would call at 8 am the day of to confirm the appt. I told her that I have been out of work on disability so I sleep until late morning. She told me they have to call then to confirm someone would be home and I would have to call back by 8:30 am even though I reminded her I am not working so am always home. I assumed this meant that was the time they would be heading out to my home. The call and text that I got at 8 am on the day of was a message that he had me down for appt. between noon and 2pm. I have never dealt with any company that doesn't provide the information the day or the night before of the scheduled arrival time, So they made me only get about 5-6 hours sleep to let me know they would be at my home 4 to 6 hrs later. But I just let those initial hiccups slide, but in hindsight, I should have seen them as a red flag as to the kind of company I was really dealing with especially when he called me at 11:45 am to tell me he was on his way and asked to explain to him what was wrong with the refrigerator. As I started to fill him in again after already telling his wife, he interrupted me by saying that don't work on appliances that have been tampered with or parts removed. So, I let him speak to my son to explain better what he did. Then my son gave me back the phone and he said he was on this way. Once he arrived, he was in and out in less than 5 minutes. He looked inside the refrigerator and just looked at the back. My son explained to him all over again what we found wrong and what we did and he said he can not determine the problem without replacing the main board at a cost of $258 plus his labor charge, which he did not say until I asked which was $118. He said he could not determine if the board was the problem but needed to replace it to find out the problem. He assumed since only the lights came on and nothing else that when we unplugged the refrigerator to defrost the frozen coils that the water leakage could have damaged the board, but he never checked anything, He did not open up the back to see if the board was damaged or if anything was damaged. He did not perform any diagnostics or service and could have told me this on the phone before wasting my time and money that I do not have. He even said it was not a fuse but never checked the fuse. Later I checked with an authorized GE refrigerator repairman who said that it is not always the main board, There is a start relay and overload behind the main board that can be checked and told me that this guy did not do his job and did not sound like he knew what he was doing except to take advantage of someone. I was taken for $68 and feel cheated and will never trust Angie's List reviews again. Both he and his wife were provided all the information over the phone of which neither one mentioned they would have to put a brand new part in a 12 year old refrigerator just to diagnose the problem. You don't put a brand new part in a 12 year old major appliance. He did not even ask that year and model of the refrigerator. So he was expecting me to dish out $376 even though he was not 100% sure that main board was the problem just to find out if there are other problems that could cost more money. This was my first and last experience of calling an appliance service as any previous repair work either someone I knew or would use someone that our HOA recommended. I have never felt so cheated and will make sure that I place reviews on all applicable websites to let consumers know of this company and be leary when reading any positive reviews that sound to good to be true as they probably are not

I am the owner and the "women" who took the call. I felt we had a very nice conversation on the phone. I remember this women and I also remember her telling me she was unemployed. She never told me they had been tampering with the refrigerator because the first thing out of my mouth would have been, "I am sorry but we cannot help you" our policy is to not work on machines that the customer has been tampering with and replacing parts on. We have run into great difficulty with trying to repair machines that customers have replaced parts on. I would never put my technicians in that situations. She had a vague problem. Refrigerator: no cool. I told her many mechanical & electrical parts can cause the no cool situation and until I get a technicians eyes on it we would not know which part has failed. My technician was unable to give you a complete diagnosis because when he arrived at your home he found a unit apart and parts that were swapped out making our job so much harder to do. He was trying to explain to you that you had several things going on with your refrigerator and he wanted to address one at a time. Unfortunately it looked like the initial problem was just a simple defrost system but because your son tampered with the unit the control board was damaged in the process and it compounded the problem. This is not our fault and something we could not have "seen" over the phone. We never hard sell a repair we leave it up to the customer. Our technician actually advised her not to repair her refrigerator and told her where to purchase a nice used appliance. The ironic thing about this whole call is that when the technician called when he was on the way and found out the unit was tampered with he did not want to come out to the house. (these never turn out well) He tried to explain that to the customer but they wanted him to come out anyways. She said the unit was not apart but when technician arrived the unit was in fact apart. Something our technician tried to avoid with his phone call on the way to her. We are very sorry you felt you had a bad experience. We are an honest family business that tries hard to provide a great service to all of our customers.

Could not be happier. Don was very accommodating and squeezed me in quickly at the last second which I really appreciated, he diagnosed the needed repair quickly and resolved our issue. I would recommend Don and his company to anyone needing appliance repairs

I did not "use" DiChristopher because he told me how to fix my problem over the phone. Evidently my issue was a chronic problem for Samsung refrigerators. They had the opportunity to make money with an easy service call - but, instead he was kind and professional enough to help me solve my problem myself. I was extremely impressed and will use them for all my appliance repair needs in the future. One easy phone call and they have a customer for life.

There were some things wrong with it. The light didn't come on inside. It would run for about 5 minutes then stop. He replaced the part. It still didn't work. He came back and worked on it. They found out it was the breaker in my breaker box was bad. They didn't charge me. They even ate the price for the part.

Tech replaced drum rollers and something else that I read about should be replaced when the dryer was open. He could have ripped me off by putting on a new belt. I asked about it and he told me I didn't need a belt. Thank-you

On the appointed day, the technician called early to narrow his visit to a two hour window. He called on the way over which was the start of the window given earlier. He repaired our refrigerator, explaining parts and processes as he went. He was professional and friendly. We will always call DiChristopher with any appliance repairs as well as tell our friends!!!
Description of Work: We needed to have our Samsung refrigerator's ice maker repaired. We called DiChristopher, explained our needs and scheduled the repair. On the appointed day the technician called early to narrow the time frame to a 2 hour window. He called again on the way over, He came and repaired our unit. He was professional and friendly.

No fee for cancelling the service appointment.
Description of Work: We had a washer that stopped mid cycle. We emailed Alison, requesting email contacts only. She offered significantly higher customer service while we were arranging for the technician. The day before the scheduled appointment, we were able to fix our appliance. We cancelled the service appointment with out a problem This company has been serving the Tampa area for years. They are a credit to the profession.

Don was quick to respond and came out to my house (Land O Lakes, FL) within about 2 hours of me calling him. He was very professional and had the problem diagnosed and repaired in under 30 minutes. Refrigerator's circuit board went bad from not being cleaned enough (got too dusty/dirty). Fridge was back up and running in no time and is colder than ever after repair. Absolutely recommend and would definitely hire again, in a heartbeat.

Initial specialist thought a part replacement was required, which had to be ordered. The specialist who came to install it was their dishwasher expert and determined that the part didn't have to be replaced at this time, and was able to fix the problem. We were charged for labor but not for the part.

Anthony knew how to diagnose and disassemble the clogged drain. I had recently purchased the home with the dishwasher included. There was some surprising stuff clogging the drain. He was able to unclog it and flush it out. I am pleased with the service call and will use them again if necessary.

I am somewhat handy and had done several checks myself trying to find a solution. I cleaned filters, checked drainage lines and looked for blockage in the disposal outlet. I finally reached the point where it was time to call in the professionals. I was not going to get into the electronics and I could not contort myself into the dishwasher to do any more dismantling. The service guy showed up on time. After a brief recap of the symptoms and the work I checked, he pretty much knew the issue, knew it could go one of two ways and explained those to me. Luckily, it went the cheaper way. He replaced a part, ran some tests and we were all done under 30 minutes. Plus I learned a few things for the next issue.

It is very difficult for me to take time off from work. I had taken the day off to get estimates on other issues relating to my home. The dryer broke the night before and I called DiChristophers first thing the next day in hopes they could come out. They were booked but did manage to get me in. Anthony came out. Very pleasant and professional and diagnosed problem right away. Fixed in about 20 min. Great service and I so appreciated them being able to work me in on short notice.
Description of Work: Dryer quit heating. Heating element was replaced. Also, replaced a door switch which, once door is open, will stop the dryer from turning.
