"Concrete Plus had just finished our driveway expansion project in the back yard (see separate 5 STAR review) and Dustin asked about a big broken concrete mess in the front of the driveway, which we share with the neighboring house. A monster water oak tree stood about 6 feet from the driveway edge, and during the course of 20 years had sent a feeder root under the concrete, busting it all up. It was painful to drive over every day, but for years our absentee neighbor had refused to go in on repairs. But now we have a new neighbor, a nice young fellow named Thomas, and he was more than happy to go in halves with us. That's all Dustin needed to hear, and this project was underway. Next morning Dusting showed up with the contract, Dylan and Johnny showed up with the tractor and a sledgehammer and dug out the large broken section. Johnny directed the operation and wielded the sledgehammer, Dylan lifted then concrete a small at a time for Johnny to break it up, and before you knew it we had bare dirt and tree roots in place of that awful concrete mess that had been there for years. Dylan smoothed it all out and compacted the dirt with his usual skill. Then we discussed the roots: this was a real concern, and Dustin took care to ensure that we understood the issue and worked with us to arrive at the solution. Should we cut the roots out, avoiding the risk of once again breaking the concrete after a few years while probably killing the tree? Or minimally trim the roots before covering them, or just cover them in concrete. After a lot of discussion we decided to remove only the smaller roots that would interfere with the work, but to leave the large feeder root so as not to kill the tree. But we needed a full 4" of concrete over the roots and stronger concrete than the original unreinforced installation. Johnny and Dylan built the forms with a small crown that guaranteed a full 4" everywhere, Dustin brought in steel wire and reinforcing panels, and they used fiber reinforced concrete. All these preparations were completed in the morning and then the SRM truck arrived. Dylan and Johnny poured and smoothed the concrete while Dustin burnt off some of his energy blowing more leaves off the property. By the end of the day this project was complete except for the cleanup. Everybody came back the next morning and hauled away the forms and other debris. Having a little time on their hands while Johnny did some of this work, Dustin and Dylan cleared vines and limbs from our trees off of the Metronet cables into the house. I couldn't reach them, and we had an appointment for Metronet to do the work, which we then cancelled. So this was another 5 STAR Concrete Plus project, and you can bet that if I see any concrete work needed on any property I own, Dustin, Dylan, and Johnny will be getting a call from me."

At any time, you can show him if you are not satisfied and he will 100% fix it to your satisfaction. He is a professional roofer with 26 years of experience and he's a very friendly guy. He is one of the most honest people you will meet. Kyle is also a perfectionist and keeps a very close eye on his crew and gets on the roof with them and works as hard as they do if not harder. His crew is very professional also and no one goes without a shirt on the job site nor is cursing allowed. He also brings a porta potty to the job site and removes it when they finish. They are very thorough and lay down material to catch the debris and nails. When the job is complete, they even do several trips around the job site using a magnet to find nails. Concrete can crack from general wear, improper installation, or in response to uneven support from the soil underneath. Small, thin cracks on the surface of aging concrete are usually a result of normal wear and tear, while cracks on new concrete more likely indicate a problem with installation. Heavier vehicles, like RVs and trucks, notoriously create more wear and tear than lighter vehicles and, therefore, might reduce the concrete driveway’s overall lifespan.
With proper maintenance, exterior concrete steps can last 25 to 50 years or more. In most cases, your steps will require some minor repairs over that time frame, including sealing surface cracks and resurfacing to keep them in good condition. Interior concrete steps should last even longer, usually between 50 and 75 years, as they don’t have to stand up to the elements.
The cost to install a concrete driveway is $4 to $15 per square foot on average. Your price heavily depends on your desired concrete finish and driveway size.
For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay an average cost of $1,900. For a driveway at double that size (400 square feet), the average price is closer to $3,800. Plain concrete is significantly more cost-effective, averaging $7 per square foot, whereas stained concrete averages around $19 per square foot.
The cost of resurfacing concrete is $6 per square foot on average, though that cost can range from $3 to $9 per square foot.
For a driveway that is 200 square feet, you can expect to pay $600 to $1,800, and for a driveway that is 500 square feet, that cost averages $1,500 to $4,500. Resurfacing your driveway will give you the look and feel of a new surface without the hefty cost.
You may want to hire a concrete floor contractor to check out your home’s concrete surfaces or inspect your home’s foundation for minor damages that they can fix while on site. They may be able to fix cracks in your driveway or garage floor the same day they fix your concrete steps, as well. General concrete repair experts usually won’t be able to handle larger jobs, like leveling a sunken foundation, so you’ll need to hire a structural engineer for bigger projects.
