They did everything good. In fact, they came back and inspected it. They gave my insurance company proof that the house had wind mitigation and so it saved me a few dollars on my insurance. It was good. I was very pleased with their timing. They came out a couple of days and knocked it off...it didn't drag on for a week or two.

The pitch on our roof is quite steep and required extra safety precautions. Felix and his crew worked hard and professionally, often until dusk. While the estimated time of the job was longer then anticipated the guys were here everyday but Sunday. Communication could be better, but every email I sent was answered promptly. We are pleased with the job done. The roof looks fantastic.

Sent out a written request for a bid on replacing our roof in addition to replacement/repair of fascia and soffit. Never heard from them.

Gulf Coast Roofing and Inspection did a fantastic job replacing my roof. I was very impressed with their knowledge, work ethic and professionalism. My entire roof needed to be replaced due to age and a couple of leaks. The crew showed up on time and worked very diligently to get the old roof removed and the new underlayment installed. They worked well past 5:30pm to get very thing buttoned up for the rain in the forecast. Sure enough a cold front came through and it rained for the next three days. There were no problems whatsoever. Work resumed when the skies cleared and the crew installed the shingle roof in one day. There was no debris or roofing nails anywhere to be found. I would highly recommend Gulf Coast to anyone needing to replace their roof. Their price was more than 40% less expensive than another roofing company I called. I am using them again to repair a leak at a rental property. Thanks again Mike!

From the first greet to the discussion of the work, this company did their best to make their customers feel safe and happy with what would be done to our roof. Amanda greeted us as a valued customer (this was our first time using them). Compared to other roofing companies in the area, they didn't judge us if the work was small or big. For example, if this was a small 3000 dollars job, other companies would tell us another person will call us in a few days or so (never gave us any information). NO ONE calls a company to wait days or weeks later. Amanda worked with us, and got their Sales Manager Michael Hamburg to take a look that very day. Michael was very honest, and gave us enough information to make our decision. In the end, we didn't look or wait for other roofing companies to call us, and we gave Gulf Coast Roofing & Inspection Inc a chance. On top of that, during the Thanksgiving Holiday, they even tried their best to complete the job just days before the Holiday. No company would have done that for us. B/c of weather conditions, we did have to wait, but they were very straight forward, and we never felt that they could not do the job on time. They came and completed the job by Dec. 10, 2013, and haven't had any issues since. I'm sure if there was, we felt the communication with Gulf Coast Roofing & Inspection Inc, we could discuss the issues. Overall, this company did not care if your issue was small or big...they just treated us as valued customers, and gave us the right information to make the right choice for our issues. We would definitely use and refer them to our friends and family.

After getting quotes from several well rated companies off Angie's List I was surprised at the range of solutions and prices that were offered for the same problems. We chose Gulf Coast after meeting with Galen because they seemed to have the best mix off solution and price for what we thought we needed. We were originally told it would be about 2 weeks before they could come out to us, but it would be dependent on the weather. It took them nearly 6 weeks to get to us. There was rain in the area at the time, but that seemed like a very long time, for the amount of rain we had. There was very little communication until a few days before they came out. They did a good job, and we have had no problems with the work. Kevin who was the head guy onsite seemed very skilled, and took the time to explain my issues. We had a lot of rotten wood, so there was more work that was needed then originally estimated. I kind of expected overages, so several times I asked for a running total to see where we were at compared to the original budget. But I was never able to get an idea of how far over budget we were getting. When I first got the bill I was pretty happy with it and asked if that included ALL the extras. I then got a second bill with an explanation that he just got the extra charges after he sent the first bill. I was pretty shocked at that bill, as it was almost double the original quote. I would probably use them again, but be much more careful about the overages and timing.

We went with Gulf Coast because their price was better. They fixed the two spots. We haven't noticed any problems since then when it has rained. Mike was very easy to work with and we have already recommended their services.

They fixed a leak in my roof. They also came back at no charge to recheck and fix the leak that opened up again after a few months.

My 84 year old father's roof began leaking New Year's Day. After several phone calls to various roofing companies, Gulf Coast not only came out to inspect the family's attempt to stop the leak, but talked through the various options available to us. There was never an attempt to push a unnecessary roof job to an elderly man who lived alone. Just a straight forward, professional discussion about the various options available to my family and my father. When we offered to pay for the time and gas to drive from Pinellas to Hillsborough for the potential repair job that wasn't needed, we were turned down. In the event our family needs any roofing work done, from a repair or to a new roof, I know who my first phone call will be. I was so impressed by the preparedness and enthusiasm of the estimator, Doug, that I accepted the quote even though it was only the 2nd one I had gotten. I was especially impressed by the fact that the subject of Angie's List came up after he had written up the quote and he quickly deducted $100 for the discount without my having to ask. I waited a month because they were backed up with work from all the rain we had had but the roofers showed up when I expected and worked 2 solid days ripping off and replacing half of the roof on my house and garage. They did an excellent job of cleaning up before they left; I have not found even one stray nail. The dumpster was removed from my driveway within an hour of completion. I would definitely recommend Gulf Coast Roofing.

I often read the reports on Angie's List and contractors get a glowing report because they do what they say they will do. In my opinion, that's minimum performance. Everyone should be expected to do their job. But its when an unforeseen problem occurs, and how a contractor handles those changes/challenges that sets them apart. And that's where the truest value of Galen/Gulf Coast Roofing was demonstrated. My roof was not a simple replacement. Tear off showed a bad underlay of tile and there was evidence of rotten wood and weak trusses. As Galen communicated this to me, as I sat in Maryland, red flags went off like crazy. I quickly deployed support services to provide me an objective assessment of the situation, which they confirmed as real issues. Galen just stayed the course. He worked and collaborated with the team, he communicated consistently with me, and he charged me a fair and reasonable price for the unanticipated work. My onsite support gave Galen and his team a thumbs up at the completion of the job and the Treasure Island permit inspector provided a very favorable assessment at job completion, above and beyond satisfactory performance. Again, I think it is the contractor's performance and behavior as he navigates through challenges described above, that sets the standard for outstanding work performance. Which is why I evaluated Galen's work so favorably. I would use Gulf Coast again without reservation.

The overall experience was excellent with a quality installation of a new flat roof. Doug Colwell, estimator, answered my request for a quote with knowledge and patience as I had to educated to learn what a quality job would include. Michael Hamberg, Sales Manager and our project manager, personally supervised the work done and was a real professional. His crew was equally well mannered and professional. They were on time and cleaned up completely when finished. They tolerated my frequent questions during the job with respect and patience. My experience in getting timely contact with the office however, was not as professional as it could have been. Only one phone call out of many was answered by a live person. Way to often my calls were met with a recorded message that promised that ?someone would return (my) call within 24 hours.? The return call often took the full 24 plus hours. I can only hope this was not typical of this otherwise excellent company. The price I have paid is greater than any other company bidding the job ? I made that decision based on who I thought would give me the best ?value.? I guess only time will validate this decision. The bottom line? I would highly recommend them to a friend.

HAD TO WAIT TWO WEEKS AFTER ESTIMATE TO GET WORK DONE AND HAD LEAKING INSIDE BEDROOM, WHICH DID NOT MAKE ME HAPPY. THEY DID FINALLY COME AND PUT A TEMPORARY PATCH ON THE ONE THAT WAS LEAKING INSIDE. FELT THAT THEY WERE A BIT EXPENSIVE BUT OVERALL, VERY PLEASANT TO WORK WITH.

I hired Gulf Coast Roofing to do a complete re-roof on my rental home. I initially contacted 7 roofers to request estimates, and Galen was one of four who actually followed through with an estimate. His was the lowest, but all four were pretty close. I told him I was not in a big hurry to do the work but asked him to contact me when he had this on his schedule so I could inform my tenants ahead of time. After signing the contract on August 7, several weeks went by and I didn't hear from Galen. Three voice messages went unreturned. Finally the work started 2 months after signing the contract, which I found out from my tenants (surprise); Galen never did contact me to let me know when work would start. Overall, the project went OK. During one of my visits to the jobsite, the project foreman recommended that a non-functioning chimney needed to be removed and roofed over in order to prevent problems down the road. Galen added that on to the contract for a very reasonable extra fee. However, when Galen contacted me a few days later to let me know the work was complete and to request payment, I went to the house to inspect the work there several punch list items (including missing shingles along 2 ridges). Evidently Galen had not been to the house himself to inspect the work before declaring the job complete. Most of the punch list items have since been taken care of, but to date I still have not received the wind mitigation report included in the contract. Overall, I'm happy with the final work product but wish the whole process would have gone more smoothly. The overall 'B' grade results from grading on a curve as 3 other roofers promised estimates and never came through. Evidently the roofing industry as a whole has set the professionalism bar pretty low for themselves...

Fellow Angie?s List customers, Angie's List customers, I have to give Gulf Coast Roofing (GCR) an honest evaluation, and it'll be a less than favorable one. The owner of GCR is Galen, and he has recently experienced a lot of unexpected personal problems, which have spilled over into his roofing business, and as sorry and sad as I am about that, our experiences with GCR have been pretty frustrating and I feel that any potential GCR customers need to know about it. We Do NOT recommend using Gulf Coast Roofing, due to the problems listed below. We found GCR through Angie?s List, which we joined to find a roofer that I wouldn?t have a problem with. That didn?t happen. GCR sent Doug out to give us an estimate. He showed up on time, was professional, informative, courteous, and after I'd obtained two other written bids, he was willing to re-negotiate on the scope of work and materials to be used, and on the price. Some of the paperwork requires a notary, and Doug said that he'd have it notarized later, and that did not sit well with me, so we went and found a notary to witness my signature. Next problem was that the crew showed up a week ahead of time, on July 23rd. It was a problem because I was sick, and there wasn?t a debris dumpster, nor any roofing supplies for them to use. To the crew?s credit, they started working anyway. The dumpster and roofing supplies showed up the next day. The dumpster was placed in the driveway so that two of my three garage openings were blocked by it, even though I had asked them to be sure NOT to block more than one opening. In order to have access to the garage area that day, I had to move the dumpster myself, with my own equipment. The next problems were that the rains came and went several times during those first few days. The crew tried to cover the exposed roof, but there were several heavy leaks that still occurred in the roof. Luckily the leaks were over our porch areas, and not over the ?living? areas. No one seemed to upset about the leaks, except us. Each day, I had to ask the crew to clear a path through the debris on the driveway before they left, so that my wife could pull her car into the garage area. They did so, except every day I found many nails she would have run over. I asked the crew leader if he was taking photos of the job as they went, and he said yes he was. This was something that Doug had told me would happen, and that I?d be given a copy of the photos at the conclusion of the project. (I?ve never received them, even though I have asked for them several times). After the project was ?completed? and the site ?cleaned?, I still picked up about 6-7 pounds of nails (no exaggeration), and about half a large trash can full of strips of plastic, roofing materials, and other trash from the area around the house. Because my house is so far from their base of operation, I did tell Galen not to send the crew back out to re-do the clean-up, I told him I would take care of it myself (I was trying to be helpful to him and the company. In hind sight, I shouldn?t have wasted my time, but should have requested that they come back out to properly clean up.) Again, I was sick during the time the roofing crew was here, and so I didn?t climb up and look for myself at what they were doing. My house is a stilt type, and my long personal ladder was being used by a friend, so I couldn?t get on the roof look at the job until a couple of weeks after they finished. It turns out that there were no calls to the county for any inspections during the project. In fact, the permit wasn?t even posted at our home-site until the crew was about to leave on the final day. They nailed it to one of the posts for my porch! Galen never showed up during the project, even though I was assured that he would. I made several calls to Galen after the job was finished, and several e-mails, asking him when I could expect the county to inspect the job, and when he would come by and conclude our business. He finally responded to an e-mail, stating that he?d come by the next day, which he did. When he came by the next day, that's when he told me about his personal problems and how they were affecting the roofing business. Galen asked me to pay a portion of my balance, even though the county still hadn?t come out to inspect the job. He told me that he had called for the inspections, but that the county must be backlogged because they were so slow about getting inspections done. I didn?t feel good about paying the amount that Galen was asking for since the job had not been inspected by the county, but I did pay him a lesser amount. I should have asked for a partial release of lien from the roofing supply company right then, but I didn't know that I could, and that would come back to bite me in the butt as well. While he was there at my house, I asked him again about the Wind Mitigation Inspection, since it had not been done either (it was negotiated and paid for, in the contract). He told me that he had called about it a couple of times already, but he called while he was standing in my driveway, and the inspection was scheduled at that time. I needed the Win Mit inspection done ASAP because my insurance was coming due very soon and I needed that discount. (A Wind Mitigation inspection inspection was done within a few days of that call). After I got my ladder back, I was finally able to climb onto my new roof to actually see what had been done and I found several discrepancies in the job, and notified Galen via e-mail. (He responds pretty well to e-mails, but not so well to phone calls.) He scheduled a repairman to come out and address the items that concerned me, and he showed up within a day or so. One of the problems would have compromised my roof within just a few years, it was just a lazy short cut by the roofing crew. The ?fix? will work, but it looks pretty cheesy. There were 15 gutter spikes that needed to be replaced, due to the crew bending them, dropping them and not re-nailing them after they removed them to put new eve drip. The repairman used shorter spikes than what were needed, and so when it rained for the first time it looked as though the gutter was going to be torn off the roof, because it was hanging down and filled with water. Several weeks passed, and still no inspection by the county. Galen kept telling me that he was having trouble locating an engineer to certify the roof (?), since the county had not been called for any inspections during the actual work being done, the county was requiring him to have an engineer certify the work that was done on my roof. I asked Galen why the photos that were taken of the work done on my roof weren?t proof enough for the county?, he never answered that question. After several more weeks passed without any progress, I became increasingly suspicious about the excuses that I was being given by Galen of why we couldn?t conclude our business. I did some research and found that he still hadn?t paid the roofing supply company for my materials. In fact, he was going to be ?late? on that payment the following day. I contacted Galen, voicing my concerns, and asking him again for Lien Waivers from ALL of the sub-contractors and material suppliers for my project. He assured me that he would produce them for me. After several more weeks, Galen notified me that he had actually found an engineer that was willing to ?sign off? on the work that had been done, and that he was notifying the county. No engineer has ever showed up or looked at my roof, but the county did send an inspector out and he signed the ?Final Inspection? area on the now sun faded permit that was still nailed to my house. Coincidentally, I had contacted the roofing supply company again that morning to find out the status of the bill for the supplies for my roof. I was told that the account was still UNPAID, and that in fact it had been sent to their collections company so that they would now be placing a lien on my house because they've NOT been paid! They also placed a late fee of $104.54, and a filing fee of $350 to the amount owed on my account. That was and is the last straw for us! We have grown very tired of being misled, lied to, and now our home and our credit rating is being threatened! I sent Galen another e-mail outlining what I was demanding of him in order for us to finally conclude our business and to satisfy the Lien against my home from the supply company. That would be for me to pay the supply company directly, the balance that I owe GCR, and for Galen to pay the remaining balance on my materials, the late fees, the Lien fee. That way I can get a Lien Satisfaction Release from them! That's happened now, and I have a Lien Satisfaction and Release letter from the supply company. We have done that now, nearly 3 months to the day since the crew first started working on replacing my roof! 3 months! So there?s my story, and I?m sticking to it, because I can back it up with written proof! DO NOT do business with Gulf Coast Roofing. Unless of course, you enjoy living and doing business in a soap opera. At present, they?re a risk to do business with. I paid GCR for an extended warranty for my roof. Galen was surprised to discover that MY credit rating was going to be affected because a lien was placed against my house (for lack of payment on the materials by GCR)! So now I have to spend an untold amount of time and energy to recover from this needless problem. (Galen did offer to provide me with a letter of explanation on his letterhead, to help with the credit reporting agencies.) Thank You Angie?s List!!! You?ve made my life a little easier?, not. Buyer beware, and do your homework.

After a heavy thunderstorm, we noticed a leak coming out of our surround sound speakers. After peering up there I could see damage around the ventilation components. I called up Gulf Coast Roofing and left a voice mail message; which was promptly returned. We scheduled an appointment for a quote. The gentlemen arrived on time, was very professional, and courteous. He looked over the damage and took pictures to show me a clear view of the damage. He wrote me up a quote to remove the tiles, fix the damaged area, and place new ventilation units. Since these components come a silver color brand new, his team painetd them to match my tiles for $1600. He squeezed me into their busy schedule and arrived promptly. They did a fanstatic job and I highly recommend them. I will use them in the future and recommend them to my friends.

The representative did not show up on the day agreed upon, and I had to call him to ask where he was and why he didn't show. After that, it took more than a week to get him out. After he finally showed up, the actual estimate took another 3 days to get with prompting. The estimate was $4k higher than another estimate for the exact same specs. This company In his defense, I got the impression that he was overwhelmed with estimates; if that's the case, he should have set a lower expectation up front rather than over promise.

From the first contact till the last this was an excellent experience. We are extremely pleased all the way around. Punctual, delivered exactly what we ordered. Done right the first time. No complaints!

IF YOU HIRE THIS COMPANY YOU WILL NEED TO GET A RELEASE OF LIEN FROM EVERY COMPANY THEY USE BEFORE YOU PAY THEM! If they do not pay their bills, these companies will put a lien on your home to force you to pay it for them. I now have a lien on my home in an amount almost double the amount of a disputed additional charges billed over the signed contract amount. This company was hired to replace part of my roof.I had a solar water heating panel that had been disconnected. When the contract was signed it did not mention the panel. I called the salesman to ask if I needed to move the panel before work was started. He told me that they could do it and since an attached flat roof was to be done at a later date, the panel could be left on that part of the roof. The roofers were working one day when I was not at home and told my ex husband that an inspector had been there and said the flat roof needed to be worked on. He told the roofers that he was not paying for the work and could not authorize the extra work. I was home the following day and the roofers asked me about the work and repeated that an inspector had said it needed to be done and it would cost less than $1000.00. I authorized the work. Later in the day my brother came into the house and asked me what the big metal thing upside down in my driveway was. It was the solar panel, upside down and shattered in my driveway. When I asked the roofers what had happened I was told ?the man in the house? had told them to Scrap it, just toss it off the roof. So that?s what they did. At no time was I told there was an issue with the panel. My ex did not mention it when he told me about the extra work and says he told them to ?take it off the roof and put it next to the driveway.? I was asked directly by the workers to authorize the extra work and I did so, but nothing was mentioned about the solar panel. The owner backs up the decision of his crew to toss the panel off my roof and shatter it in my driveway without even asking me if this is what I wanted. I am appalled that anyone would consider vandalizing others property like this while doing a job for the owner of the property. This was not an accident but deliberate destruction. I have asked the owner to contact his insurance company and compensate me for this loss. He has refused. I checked Angies List and hired a contractor that was insured specifically in case something went wrong. The owner has ignored most of my communication. I have confined this to E-Mail as his initial repose to my complaint was that I had no proof of my instruction to place the panel on the flat roof. If you do hire this company in spite of this review, I would recommend all communication be put in writing. The companies answer to my review makes it sound like I have not paid him anything. The fact is the FULL amount of the original contract and the additional cost of the flat roof work have been paid. I have not paid them for the additional work billed for which they have refused to provide pictures, receipts or invoices to prove the work was done.

Provider provided estimate of charges and proceeded with repair as requested.. Would recommend Galen and his team most highly.

I got a call from my tenant in the middle of a storm that her roof was leaking. I called many roofers, got through to only a few who said they could not help me for at least 4 days. Galen was very helpful on the phone, suggested what I could do by myself and promised he would come the next day if required. After inspecting it myself, I put on some roofing tar and made an appointment for three days later to get his estimate on completing the patch. Galen arrived exactly when he promised to do the estimate. He confirmed what another contractor had suggested needed to be done to fix a roof leak, but his inspection was far more thorough: he noticed some things on the back side of the roof that also needed to be done. Total estimate was $1200, which was inline with the other estimate. I told him that would be tough for us to manage financially and asked him to do whatever he could for $1000, beginning with the roof patch. He said he would put one of his speediest guys on it and thought they could get it all done fast enough to meet that price. The work was done exactly when he promised and looks great. I was delighted to hear that everything had been completed for $890! He could have charged me $950 and I still would have been happy, so this is a sign to me of his integrity: he charged me only for the time it actually took to do the job. The patch and resealing has now held fine through a couple of torrential downpours, so I am confident that the work not only looks good but was also done right. I would recommend this provider to anyone for his professionalism, expertise, and willingness to go the extra mile in all ways. Thank you Angie members for leading me to him!

I had the big deal service performed and also some additional work was done as well. The service went great. Very good experience with this company.

They got the work done on time but slightly over the cost that I anticipated due to additional bad wood underneath The people who did the work did a great job and came back to check afterwords to make sure everything was to our liking.

Minor delays and some miscommunication. In the end they were flexible in setting up payment and their work was well done.
