The work went well. It was done professionally and any discovery of new issues were pointed out immediately with a discussion of options that would resolve the issues. I was very satisified with the repair work. I will use Gulf Coast again if I need roof repair work.

I was very pleased with this company. It took a little longer than I had hoped for the work to begin, but rain played a great deal in the delay of the start date. Once the work was begun, the bulk of the job was completed in two days. The workers were here until dark both days. On the third day, it only took a couple of hours for the guys to finish. Due to a problem with termites years ago, a lot of the facia board had to be replaced and that problem also contributed to some of the plywood sheets needing to be replaced. Replacing the facia board required the removal of the facia as well as the soffit in the areas that were hit by the termites. Even with this extra work, the job was completed in two days. Gulf Coast's estimate was in line with the second company I contacted. I chose Gulf Coast because they could begin the job considerably sooner than the other company. As mentioned above, it took longe than I had hoped to begin the job, but most of that was due to rain. I was not surprised with the final cost as I knew I would need a lot of wood replaced due to the termites. A sprinkler head was broken when one of the trucks was backing in. When I went to ask one of the workers if it could be replaced before my next watering day, I saw the it had already been fixed!!!!! Now that's service!

I solicited quotes from several highly rated Roofers on Angie's List. Gulf Coast was the highest. In his quote Gulf Coast requested I give him a "second look" if there was a price difference...His price was $4990.00....Others in the $4000.00-4500.00 range with "wood" included. I gave him this info with a verbatim quote from his next highest competitor, without naming the competitor. He reduced his price to $4700.00 with wood included. Based on prior use of his Company for repairs and very good outcome and his "hands on" supervision. I accepted his revised proposal on June 27th even tho he was still $200.00 high. In his acceptance it states"As we agreed, just to clarify, I will include the wood in the 4700 price as long as we do not run into a large amount of bad wood"....I advised we would be gone for 9 days starting on 1 July , returning on 9 July and he requested our cell Phone # in addition to our land line number. Returned on 9 July and found nothing had been done .The following is a history of the work dates: 22 July- A workman from Gulf Coast rang our door bell at 9:30 am & said he was here to do roof repairs and would like to see the inside areas where we had leaks. I told him no leaks inside and showed him the two areas involved. It was evident he had no prior knowledge or briefing of the scope of the work. He was here until 12:30pm.I found out his name was Kevin King 23 July Kevin called and said he would not be here today..........24 July He was here from 9:20 until 1220.....25 July Kevin called and said their were bands of rain in his area and would be here later......Sun was shining.....did sprinkle a little for about 20 minutes , then cleared and sunshine the rest of the day..............26 July no call ...sunny day........28 July was here with another person whose name is Donny from 10:30am until 2:30pm.............-29 July Brought about 50 pieces of tile which Kevin said was to be used in repair They left at 11:50 am , no rain until about 2:30 in the afternoon.....July 30 worked from 9:30-11:45...left for lunch returned at 1:15 and left at 2:05......July 31 worked 9:15 til 12:30.....August 1 worked 9:35 til 12:40....August 4...no call, sunshine...August 5 no call- sunshine ......August 6 Kevin called at 8:20am, sick will come tomorrow...... August 7 worked from 9;20 til 12:24 went to lunch...We had an errand to do & left at 12:24. returned at 2:45 they were here and left at 3:45.......August 8 worked from 9:30 til 11:15.......August 11 No Call.....sunshine....... August 12 worked 9;10 til 1:35....From August 13 thru August 18 I received no Phone all week. On August 14th I called Galen Lohmeyer at his office and his cell phone and left messages requesting he call me ....I received no return calls. On August 18th I got hold of Kevin at 9:45 am and he told me they had been moved to another job site by Galen and that was what had happened on days they were not here. August 19..... Here at 8:15...left at 8:35 back at 9:15 left at 11:55 for lunch & store ...back at 12:30..left at 2:55... They took approximately 90% of the tile they had brought for repairs back with them.. Per Kevin will be back tomorrow to finish up.......August 20..Called Kevin at 10:45am He will be here late this evening to finish up. During this time we had errands to do. when we returned about 1:15 we found out Galen had been here. I called him at his office and on his cell phone and left messages ... I received no reply.....Upon opening my email I found an invoice from Galen and advising he would be here to pick up the check for payment. I sent him a reply advising that the job was not complete as he could observe during his "inspection". He requested that I give him an "A" on my Angie's list report. I told him I couldn't do that and cited several reasons why. In addition I found an additional charge in the amount of $1485.00 for "wood". I saw no more that 7 sheets of plywood, 6 to 8 2' x 4"s and a small amount of trim that was required , making the total of $6185.00..... Kevin did not return to finish the job.... August 21-I called Kevin at 9:35 . He stated he would be here in about an hour. He arrived at 10:30am and worked until 1:45... he was not aware of the requirements of paragraph 5 of repair specifications. I feel the quality of work done by Kevin & Donny was excellent as they are both very well qualified at what they do even though it took a month to complete. I had no contact with Galen Lohmeyer from the time the contract was accepted until I received his invoice prior to the job being completed. He returned none of my attempts to speak with him. I am of the opinion that I was grossly overcharged by him, but that is partly my fault for not objecting to his acceptance clause. I feel that my trust in him was violated and that he took advantage of the situation. I have copies of all the correspondence that transpired and it may be examined by anyone from Angie's list. I take no pleasure in writing this report as it is the first negative report I have submitted on all the tradesman I have used from Angie's List . The prior job done by Gulf Coast was positive in every aspect , I don't know what happened to them this time.... George K. Smith Update in response to Service Provider comments. It was the handyman I was using who discovered the roof issues and advised me to get a professional to come out and look at it. I received 3 estimates from Angie's List recommended service providers. The one from Gulf Coast was initially about $4900, about $500 more than the others. He asked me to reconsider him and dropped the estimate to $4700. The other estimates included all the work to be done with wood replacement included. Gulf Coast charged $1400 in wood cost for what couldn't have amounted to more than 6 sheets of plywood and some 2x4's. The job should have only taken around 3 days to complete, but lasted almost a month because he pulled his guys off my job to work on others. He claims to have come and taken photos yet he was never here and no photos were ever taken. I believe he took advantage of the trust I placed in him after having used him in the past. I kept all the email correspondence and a running diary of everything that happened and would be happy to share them both with Angie's List or other members if they would like to see them. .

I questioned the quote, but the high cost of workers comp for this line of work was the reason stated. Still, the $960 was much better than the $3430 I was quoted by another company to replace the roof. The quality of the work was excellent! I am confident the resealing will last for several years, and was the right decision. This was a rear porch roof over a deck adjacent to my pool. The silver coating, replacing the previous black, is noticeably cooler and will likely contribute to longevity. A very negative issue occurred during the project. There were several pop-up rains. The first step in the process was to apply a black coating to reseal the drip edge perimeter which was still wet when a rain started. This black substance splattered off the roof and onto the pavers around the pool, which had been installed less than a year prior. The pavers were porous and the black was absorbed. The laborers worked very hard to clean it off, but it just became worse from the cleaning agent used. In the end, the company arranged to have someone who didn't work for them, come over and cut and replace all pavers which had become stained. I had many spare pavers left over from the original job. This did use up my 'get out of jail free' card with my spares. But, Gulf Coast spent more time and effort on repairing this unfortunate incident than they did on coating my roof. Additionally, due to the sporadic rains, Gulf Coast applied 3 coats instead of one just so it would look right! Not sure they made any money. This is an honorable company, and when I need a new roof on the rest of my home, I will definitely invite them to bid on the job!

We were not able to agree on a price; their communication wasn't up to par so we kind of lost touch after I told him the price that I felt were reasonable. I ended up not using this service provider. I would not recommend this company.

After contacting multiple companies for an estimate on roof replacement, I was most impressed with Gulf Coast Roofing. Although it was not the cheapest quote, Galen provided me with the most thorough information and evaluation of the roof which made me feel confident in my decision to choose him for the project. Even though I live out of state (replaced roof on our rental home), he kept me updated with every step along the way. He even emailed me pictures of the men working, which showed me the new installed sheets of plywood under the shingles. We ended up replacing our roof with GAF Timberline HD- Birchwood. I had recently acquired the services of Gulf coast roofing and am very satisfied. My roof was in dire need of multiple repairs and had water damage and leaks due to rain. Several companies were considered for the work and Gulf coast was highly recommended by a friend. They also gave a fair price for both the internal and external work as well as being on par with my budget (insurance coverage) limits. The Workers were very attentive to my needs, and also very friendly. They worked safely; professionally and very efficient, letting me know everything that was being done. We had great communication in regards to when they were going to do certain work and it was going to be done. The roofers even sent me pictures of the progress on the external work. When finished they cleaned up the remains and where always making sure I was happy with ALL of the results. I felt very comfortable with them which is a plus because I?m elderly and live alone. The two roofers were very nice and the roof has been fixed with no more leaks! Gulf Coast did a great job with the internal repairs as well. I would recommend this company to anyone and appreciate all they did for me. I give them an excellent review and thank them for a job well done.

We needed a new roof on a home we were purchasing in a very short amount of time. Galen was quick to get us a quote and was able to fit us in to his schedule in the time we needed. In our particular situation and not fully our choice, we had to go with another roofer for the job. Galen was wonderful, professional, and responsive. We will be calling Galen for any future roofing needs.

Due to fact Gulf Coast Roofing had an opening in their schedule, our roof replacement got moved up by over a week. The crew started on a Tuesday morning, and totally finished by Noon on a Friday. Also the dumpster arrived on Tuesday morning as stated it would. The crew was up on the roof tearing off old roof, and tar paper by 815AM each day. We had it replaced with GAF Timerberlane HD shingles, what made that part so easy was Galen (the owner) told us go to Home Depot to see the colors of the Shingles, that is so much better than trying to see them on the Internet what a cool idea that is. They tore off the old roof, and used the new peel and stick underlayment, and checked to make sure existing wood was acceptable or not. Then the new roof went on, and the drip flashing. Again Galen came through and said for this color and your house Brown will look great. Oh it does a great contrast. What so impressed me with the crew, they cleaned up everyday, put tarps down over our landscaping, used a leaf blower every day when done to keep everything spotless. They were not the cheapest estimate we got, but I feel we got every dollars worth of high quality workmanship. I feel Gulf Coast Roofing did an outstanding job. And really believe by the workmanship we saw there will be no issues. I highly recommend this company.

Great company - very professional. They handled all permits before starting, cleaned yard after completion, and hauled away debris.

I hired Gulf Coast Roofing to replace the roof on my house which was at the end of its lifespan. Gulf Coast did what they said they would do. They removed the old roof and replaced it with new shingles and installed new drip edge around the entire house. It took them quiet a long time to complete the job, and the weather did play somewhat of a factor in this, but not all. They could do a better job with their responsiveness to communications. I could not always get fast answers to my questions, but eventually all of my questions were addressed. Overall they did a good job with the roof installation. This is a revision of a review I submitted for a roof installation performed by Gulf Coast Roofing who now seem to have changed their company name to King Roofing and Sheetmetal. I hired Gulf Coast Roofing to replace my roof in December 2013. Work started on the roof on 31 December 2013. I was not yet occupying the house as it was undergoing renovations, so I was not present to see how work was progressing. One day between 31 December, and 7 January, a roofer named Randy knocked on the door while I was inside painting a bedroom. He asked me if I had heard from anyone at Gulf Coast Roofing, and I told him that I had not, and did not really expect to until the roof was complete. Randy then proceeded to tell me that he had not been paid in a while, and would be leaving until he was paid. I went outside shortly after, and no roofers were present, but a large portion of my roof was missing the shingles, and a lot of the insed of the house was exposed. My roof is composed of planks, and not plywood, so there are gaps in between the planks that rain water would easily enter the house through. I immediately called the company owner Galen Lohmeyer, and he was able to get some people out there in a few hours to lay some peel and stick and cover the majority of the holes. On 7 January, 2014, I received a call from Mike at Gulf Coat Roofing letting me know my roof was complete. I drove by the house to check out my new roof, and was distraught by what I saw. Not only was the roof not complete, but the old roof had not even been completely removed. This was EIGHT days after work started! I contacted Galen Lohmeyer, and was told by him that he had been extremely ill, and was now ?on it?, and would ?remedy this problem?. I again went by the house on 10 January 2014 expecting to see some progress, but incredibly, my roof was in the same situation as 3 days before! Again I contacted the owner, Galen Lohmeyer, and was told ?I will put another crew on it and it will be finished.? I went by my house on 12 January 2014, and noticed some progress. Most of the roof was now removed, and peel and stick was placed over most of the roof except above the 2nd story windows. There were one inch gaps exposing the inside of the house to the elements. This was at 1:40PM, and no roofers were at my property. Due to a 50% chance of rain, I once again contacted Galen and was told: ?Thank you. I will follow up.? The problem was fixed the next day, and thank goodness the rain never came because large portions of my roof were exposed, and the inside of my house would have been damaged. Once again I stopped by my house on 17 January, and the roof install appeared to be complete. I inspected the roof, and was really upset with what I saw: shingles over hanging the flashing, ripped and torn shingles, shingles not laying flat, a shingle with a roofing nail ripped through it making a hole in the shingle, my house siding was stained with tar in a few areas etc. I emailed Galen the pictures and will include them with this review Galen told me: ?I will or Mike will come by.? Finally, on 26 February 2014, an unbelievable 59 days after work on my roof began, I was emailed the invoice from Galen stating the roof was complete, and payment was due. After almost 2 months, Gulf Coast Roofing had the gall to charge me an extra $285 for lumber, lumber that was not even used because it was still sitting in my yard! I told Galen he could come pick up his lumber because I did not need it, and it was not worth $285. After the nightmare I just went through, I never wanted to deal with Gulf Coast Roofing again. Unfortunately, I was forced to contact Galen once again due to a leak. I started noticing water in the entryway of my house during rainstorms. At first I thought the water was being caused by an air duct leaking, but when I went into the attic during the next rainstorm, I noticed water pouring in through my new roof. I contacted Galen on 15 June 2014, and a tech was sent to repair the roof on 17 June. I was told the leak was fixed. It did not rain a lot between 15 June and the next time I noticed more water in my entryway sometime in July. I went in the attic, and noticed water entering the exact same spot. I contacted Galen on 9 July 2014, and Galen responded on 10 July by telling me he would schedule a tech to come out. I?m not sure when the tech came out to fix the roof for a second time, but I sent another email to Gale on 24 July 2014 telling him the roof is still leaking in the same spot. Galen responded on 25 July 2014, and told me he ?will get Chuck out there as soon as I can.? The leak was finally fixed on or about 28 July 2014. I was relieved, and again hoped I never had to deal with this company again, but once again it was not to be. I started noticing water pooling in my utility room in early 2015. I did not expect a leak because I inspected the inside of my roof in the utility room during a rain, and it remained dry. However, it was not a heavy rain, and during the next heavy rain, I did see where the roof was wet inside the utility room. I contacted Galen by email on 2 March 2015, and did not get a reply. I sent another email to Galen on 4 March 2015, and received a simple ?OK? as a reply. Over the next few weeks, I received a few calls from a roofer named Chuck who I recognized as the roofer who fixed the first leak. He told me he would come out to fix the new leak ?Sometime later in the week?, but no one ever came. Finally over 2 months after I contacted Gale the first time about the new leak, I sent multiple emails on 12, 14, 27, and 28 May. I also left multiple messages on Gulf Coast Roofing?s answering machine, but only ever received one reply by phone stating a crew would be out ?within 24 hours? to fix my leak. No one ever came. I am at the end of my rope trying to deal with this company. I have all of these issues documented with emails. I even have an email from Galen stating he is extending my warranty from 5 to 10 years. It is all meaningless. This company does not stand by their work, and does not honor their warranty. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! You could hire a bum off the street that would install a better quality roof on your house, and would honor his warranty. DO NOT USE GULF COAST ROOFING/KING ROOFING SHEET METAL to perform any maintenance on your roof! Another disturbing issue I had with this company was with an email I received from Galen on 13 June 2014. Galen asked me if I had received $100 worth of Red Lobster gift certificates he mailed to me in exchange for me writing Gulf Coast Roofing a ?good report? on Angie?s List. Since I had not written a report yet, and I could not get a roofer to come to my house to fix my first leak, I took the hint, and wrote a report on Angie?s List. I felt it was the only way I was going to get a roofer to come out and fix the leak. I never received any Red Lobster gift certificates, but sure enough, after I wrote the review, a roofer showed up to fix the leak. Coincidence? Just remember this when you read other reviews on Angie?s List. I wonder how many reviews are legitimate and how many have been bought with Red lobster gift certificates? Team was very efficient and completed the work in a timely fashion. They were polite and friendly, and cleared everything up very well. The only reason I am giving a B on "responsiveness" was that a couple of times we asked for contact information for a painter to paint the house once the work was finished. We were told we'd get this, but it never came through and we found someone else. But overall, this was a very positive experience and we were happy with the work.

We initially contacted Gulf Coast Roofing to come out and do an inspection. After Mike came out he confirmed our suspicions that the roof that was put on for us 10 years ago by Spicer Roofing was not a good job. We scheduled the start of the job and we had to ask that it be postponed. It was a huge request as it was the weekend before the start of the job but Mr. Lohmeyer was very understanding and rescheduled for us. The job included tearing off all the old shingles, the ridge caps (that were all but falling off anyway), tearing and scraping off the tar paper and replacing 10 sheets of plywood. They gave us a completely new roof with more ridgevents to help with venting of the heat from the attic. They also repaired our soffit and fascia. They did a great job. Our neighbors have even commented on the difference in the roof. Thank you Mr. Lohmeyer for your patience with us and the excellent job on our roof.

Mike stated he was in the area for estimates on Mondays and Tuesdays. I'm not available on those days, so he agreed to come by when I was not home and e-mail results. I called to check back two weeks later and he did not remember and stated he would check paper work and e-mail me. That was one and a half weeks ago, and still no contact.

To begin with, Gulf Coast Roofing is not the cheapest contractor you can hire. They are however one of the finest. When contacted, an appointment was set and Mr. Michael Hamberg arrived at the appointed time. He provided a few options and we selected our shingles, the GAF "Gold Pledge" warranty, and had the roof installed in January 2014. The process was painless, for me; Mike was not so lucky, he was on the receiving end of multiple calls to clarify what he already told me. Being an extremely detail oriented individual, check, double check and check again is a way of life. Each call, responded to in a positive, friendly, and professional manner, was either answered directly or returned within a couple hours. During one call, two days before the work was to start, we requested the color of our shingles be changed; Mike indicated he would see what he could do and was successful. The installation took 4 days; the installers were courteous, cleaned the area at the conclusion of each day's work, and completed the installation with a magnetic sweep around the house. I waited until this point to enter any comment on Angie's List, even though we were impressed at how nice the roof looked, but I'm not the professional, and the county had to do a final inspection. Additionally GAF was to send an inspector. The county inspector found no problems and indicated it was done very well; but the final inspection, done yesterday, by the GAF inspector, was the icing on the cake; he checked everything at multiple points and indicated the job was done right.

I got bids from three A-rated roofers to re-roof an 800 sf wing on my house. The prices ranged from $3,000 to $3,500. I then requested prices to repair just the affected area. Mike Hamberg did the repair for $800, a more than fair price. Only one of the other roofers was willing to do that repair, and their price was quite a bit higher. Mike did an excellent, thorough job. The roof is now watertight, and it's hard to distinguish the repaired area from the rest of the roof. I enjoyed dealing with Mike - he is a straight-shooter and is extremely knowledgeable about roofing. I highly recommend Gulf Coast Roofing to anyone needing roof replacement or repair.

He was very pleasant and helpful, but was driving a different vehicle than usual and hadn't brought his paperwork, so was not able to provide me with a written report of what he found nor a business card. I thought that was important.

As he finalized the written quote, he informed me that he in fact did not need my work because he had bigger and more lucrative jobs. I was shocked that a sales manager could be so rude to a prospective customer (I was not rude or disrespectful to him; I had never met this man before in my life). I cannot understand why someone would expend his time, energy and money driving to an appointment only to be so rude to a customer, furthermore, he is undermining his employer. I have been informing my friends and family about the experience that I had with this company.

Didn't pressure sell, very knowledgeable, good experience overall. Update: I requested an estimate to get some work done and never got a response. I attempted calling the service provider repeatedly and finally gave up.

I contacted this provider for an estimate to replace my roof, using the Angie's List message feature. Galen Lohmeyer, President, replied promptly. However, he stated a REP would contact me, therefore I did not need to reply to the message. Today is March 27 and I have yet to be contacted by anyone. I guess they don't need my business. I have hired another company I found on Angie's list

I needed maintenance performed on my roof and had called in 2 other roofing companies for estimates. When I spoke to Gulf Coast Roofing, I appreciated the immediate call back from his daughter to see what my needs were and see how they could help. When Galen came out to review the job and provide a consultation, I greatly appreciated the fact that he wasn't trying to charge me for everything. He went over the estimates provided by the other companies and then emailed an estimate for those items that truly needed to be taken care of and at a reasonable cost. He didn't charge me for the initial consultation and listened to my concern. Galen's crew came out and completed the following: Inspect the entire roof surface for any areas where there could be a possibility of water intrusions. To all existing valleys, reseal the shingle valley overlap for it's entire length. To all existing nail pops on the entire roof, correct and reseal. Reseal around all vents and protrusions as needed. Reseal around the electrical pole. To the tie-in at each end of flat roof where it meets shingle roof, install new roof membrane. I was happy with the consultation, estimate, and cost of the service. I did have to follow-up a couple of times with Gulf Coast to figure out when they'd come out for the consultation, when they were scheduling me for repairs, as well as the date/time I'd be rescheduled due to rain. An email notification or call would have been helpful, similar to what I received immediately after the work was completed letting me know they'd be back over that day to pickup the check.

I bought the special Roof Maintenance Package from Gulf Coast Roofing. Mike called the next day and came by to look at the roof. I have a shingle roof over most of the house but a flat roof over part. I had looked at the flat roof and thought it might need some work. Mike found very little to do on the shingle roof and said it should last quite a while longer, but brought down pictures of places and cracks on the flat roof that needed to be repaired or replaced. He said it did not need to be done immediately if I could not afford it. I decided I would rather have it replaced now rather than wait until it started leaking. I gave Mike a deposit, he wrote up the contract. The following day I received by e-mail a form to be notarized so they could get the permit from the city of Largo. Mike picked up the form after I had it notarized. He was unsure of the exact date they would be able to get to my roof, weather would decide. Within a few days he called and said they would get to my roof on Friday the 14th of March. The day before a dumpster was delivered and placed exactly where we had agreed upon. Fri. morning the workers arrived at about 9 a.m. They finished the job that day, picked up everything and left the area very clean. I was pleased with the workers and Gulf Coast's service. I would recommend Gulf Coast Roofing and Inspection, Inc. to anyone.

It did not go. Never showed and at best, slow to respond to request for contact when trying to schedule.

They made time for my appointment although they were booked pretty heavily for the week, which was very nice. I was kind of expecting some minor repairs to be done on broken tiles as part of the service, and maybe some attention to the eaves, etc., but I got a kind of cursory "Everything is fine" report. I am used to getting some tiles repaired and gutters attended to by the other roofing services I've used, since I am trying hard to keep my Florida tile roof last by getting it cleaned often and having yearly check ups to get small problems fixed rather than having to get a new roof because of neglect. They did do an exam on the roof but no specific services were completed since they said they were unnecessary.

Fixed leak, but had to come back 2 times to keep fixing continued leaking.
