The electrician had an attitude, like was bother to do the work. Even through I got $100.00 off for being a member they still charged me $300.00. It only took him 20 minutes. I feel I was over charged.

The morning of the service call Bolt phoned and said they would not come. Click. I called back and asked why. They said I, or someone, made a mistake and they would not come. Click. I called back to ask for the owner (the person who answered the phone said he was) He said we could talk about it all day or I could just realize they weren't coming. Click. I guess Bolt isn't coming!
Description of Work: I gave Bolt an exact description of my electrical problem. I want to relocate a low voltage alarm panel. We discussed details, settled on a plan because this wasn't a typical service call for Bolt, and found a time when I could be here. Bolt scheduled a service visit two weeks out from my original call.

We apologize for any frustration and confusion the member experienced regarding this situation. We always strive to communicate honestly and treat our customers fairly. We would never cancel a customer's appointment without a clear explanation. Unfortunately, a new staff member scheduled an appointment for this member without being aware that we are unable to perform services on alarm systems. As soon as management became aware of the situation the member was contacted immediately. We regret that this was not identified sooner, but unfortunately the work that was requested is outside of our scope. We appreciate the members business and hope that he will consider us for electrical work in the future.

It went okay. They showed up when they were supposed to and he did the work well but I found that it was exceptionally expensive. I ended up paying $700 over and above the $200 I was supposed to be credited for. Which means it was terribly, terribly expensive for 5 light fixtures. I had asked for a price list and they didn't send it to me. When he got here he showed me the price list. I had one ceiling fan, one bathroom exhaust fan, and three normal lights and that added up to almost $700 right there. I thought it was exceptionally expensive. As it was, I had 3 or 4 lights I wanted changed out and I thought no way. I was really horrified. He did the work that he was supposed to do. I had actually assembled the chandelier and the fan so I had done some of the work for him but it didn't make any difference. I would recommend them if it had to be for the quality of the work. He sort of picked up after himself. It would have been nice if he had asked for a broom and swept up but he didn't. The cost of it seemed to me to be so high I don't know how to review it. He really did an excellent job. That wasn't the problem. The problem was he walked in the door without his notebook with the prices and I had to sign on the dotted line before he started. He had come a long way. When I decided I wanted to make the appointment I called and called and called. It took me three days to get through to somebody.

I wanted to provide you with feedback on my recent Angie's List Deal - $59 for $100 services - that I used 5 Feb. The work performed was to (1) fix problem caused by a circuit break that occurred when turning a BR light switch on and (2) fix an outdoor waterproof GFI outlet. The price list for this category of work was presented to me on his i-pad- it was $299! Having already sunk $59 for what I expected to be about $100, I was trapped. Should I forfeit the $59, half a day from work and tell the guy "No thanks" and start all over and find another company? I got lazy and say just fix it. After much "meandering" through a very slow, shaky diagnosis, he finally replaced an indoor outlet that apparently was causing the circuit to break in the BR. Then he saw the outdoor outlet was corroded, so he replaced it. Along with the $59 deal, I was set back another $199 ($100 was paid toward it with the $59 deal), with tax it was $212.75, for a total cost of $271.75. To replace two outlets. Oh, he did manage to try to sell me on breaker panel surge suppressor systems, priced well over $1000! Really!? Just wanted to let you know, this was one expensive "deal".

It turned out to be extremely expensive. They have a little reference guide that they use to do any time of service and the reference guide is expensive. Basically they did 2 outlets, one inside and one outside and it cost me out of pocket $211 plus the deal. To get a better rating they could have charged a better rate. I should have just called an electrician, it would have been a lot cheaper than using the Big Deal.

If you don't schedule an appointment immediately, they will forget about your credit and not perform any service or return the upfront cost. I purchased through Angie's list and then waited a month before realizing I didn't schedule a service call. I called up Bolt multiple times. Instead of talking with somebody from the actual company, I got somebody from their 3rd party scheduling service. They might be good, but they need a better way to work with customers through Angie's list.

We apologize for any confusion with this situation, however we have responded to this member several times in regards to scheduling an appointment. Our first response was 1 business day after the purchase of the promotion via the Angie’s List message center as is required by Angie’s List new policy. This response included detailed information on how the member can schedule their appointment for service. We do provide an answering service for our customers so they can speak with a live person outside of business hours. All messages that are received through the answering service are returned within 1 business day.

Bought the deal $39 for $109 of Electrical Services but the service was not as described. On phone they tell you that this gets you the 1st hour including trip charge and anything else would be charged on top hourly. Well I have rehabbed several homes and hired numerous subcontractors and decided to give BOlt Electric a try. The work should have taken only 2 hours max as I only needed a 110 outlet 5 feet away from the electrical panel. I would have done it myself but had other projects going on. In short when the rep gets there he tells me they charge a flat rate of $500+ to run the circuit but since I had the deal it would be $300. So I agreed to the work bc I was pressed for time. It then turns out that my breaker panel is full and required a dual circuit breaker which they would have to order and would have to come back in a few days. They also found a damaged wire in the circuit panel of which was another up charge of $179.... I agreed to the rate and miraculously they were able to install a new dual circuit breaker. I have not reviewed the work but overall they are VERY VERY expensive. I came back and re read the DEAL and it does not state that the charges would be hourly so it was my mistake. Just be prepared and read the reviews. ANgies List gives the appearance that this company has better standings,

The electrician came out a few days before to see the scope of the job. He advised me what type of fan controller to buy which saved us money. I gave a couple of "B" grades because the price was a shocker. Also, the B for quality is that after the fan on the master bath that required the additional bracing was installed an adjacent light doesn't work. I am sure that it will not be a problem for them to come back out to fix this. I will be using them again.

I've been having problems with a GFI outlet in my master bath. Whenever we have heavy rains from a certain direction the GFI outlet goes out in my master bath and the outlets associated with it no longer function. After 4 years of putting up with it, I decided to have the problem corrected. There was an Angie's List special for $39 for $109 worth of electrical service from Bolt Electric, so I took advantage of it. I schedule an appointment for 2/5/2016 for between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. Dean arrived around 8:30 am. After 20 minutes of analysis, he gave me several options for resolving the issue. There were 5 outside outlets that were deteriorated a couple of which could be causing my problem. There was also an old lighting fixture that would have been used to illuminate my flag pole that was full of water that could have also been the cause if my problem. I determined that fixing the 5 electrical outlets and disconnecting the lighting fixture was probably the best solution for my issue. It took Dean about an hour and a half to fix everything and hopefully that will be the end of that problem. Only time and the next heavy rainfall will tell. I do have to say that I am not fond of the "A La Carte" approach to services that Bolt Electric and other firms use as I find that it is generally more expensive than the labor and parts methodology.

Not well The scheduling people were terrible. They cancelled twice and had the wrong time another time. They did not give the guy enough time to finish the job and he had to come back to finish. I wasted a lot of hours on phone trying to schedule and waiting. The guy that came was nice enough but did a very poor job. He was supposed to make sure all plugs were working. He went around with his little device and missed several that were not working. The light he installed on the garage stopped working after a few months but i didn't want to deal with them again so i left it alone. I have a new electrician here now fixing the rest of the plugs and he now tells me that the light was installed in a slipshod fashion that is not code compliant. The wires were placed on the garage (an outdoor wall) with no cover and stapled all the way across the beautiful wood. They were then stung into the garage (he drilled a hole right through back of garage) and strung the wires loosely across garage ceiling. He left the wires uncovered and sticking out of fuse box. I now have to pay the electrician to rip out all wires which will ruin my new paint job and replace light, We are about to list the house for sale and the new electrician says this will not pass inspection. Now i have to pay a new electrician, a painter and a carpenter to repair the damage and buy another light!. The fuses he replaced were the wrong kind and he dented the box by shoving them in. After he tried to fix the outdoor lights, he could not fix the, When he left, none of them were working, He was a nice guy but turns out, completely incompetent. Their customer service was awful and i am now repaying another electrician to undo what they did a year ago. The new electrician does not think that the guy was a licensed electrician due to the dangerous way he installed the new light and new fuse. I would not recommend them!

Gentleman arrived promptly for the appointment. No problem there. And what a nice guy he was -- truly so. So nice in fact, that I almost did not want to complain. But the service flat out stunk. This was no design consultation. It was a sales call. Had a catalog, said we install in groups of 8 -- that can be 7 in the back and 1 in the front ? or 6 in the back and 2 in the front ? or 5 in the back and 3 in the front (you get the picture). No real reference to uplighting, downlighting, wall light washing -- which would have been a REAL light design consultation. It was a sales call, not a light consultation. The guy was such a good guy but his management gave him no proper tools and no real options to offer me. NOT A CONSULTATION, a sales call. Why would I pay $49 for a sales call??? I know of what I am speaking because I hired a different Angie's Vendor to do a home theatre consultation (paid for that too) But the difference is the home theatre consultant gave me dozens of options and price ranges, explained how sound bounces offered equipment and placement suggestions and explanations. But not Bolt electric. I want my money back. I feel very ripped off.
