I paid $39.00 for a promotional service with Bolt Electric. I asked why was I paying an additional $24.75 for a promotional and was told this is for the $109. I was thoroughly confused Email sent 1 Mar 16: Good Morning Angie's List! I purchase a promotional electrical event on 29 Jan 2016. On Friday, 26 Feb 2016; Clayton from Bolt Electric charged and invoice me for another promotional and I paid him CASH $24.75. I'm requesting you and Bolt Electric assistance in the return of the $24.75 back to me in an official cashier's check or money order. I've included the above documents to support this email. There really isn't anything confusing about this situation. It seems like the member is attempting to work the system in order to get the work done effectively for free.

I received a vague estimate of 3,000 for landscape lighting, with exceptions and assumptions that they could use my existing old wiring and that transformers, without much detail as to the product performance or warranty. It included 700 for new wiring, and said that more money would be needed IF my existing (4 yo) transformer could not be used. Basically, it was an open ended bid of 3,000 or more...depending on all sorts of things that should have been specified. If my wiring is good, then say so, if not, then say so. If my transformers are good, then say so, if not, then say so. I have no product information. Just a worthless open-ended estimate. I used BOLT before to install a motion detector, and it took weeks and 2 returns to get it working. I should have known better. don't waist your time with this group.
Description of Work: Bolt Electric sent a new hire to my house for an estimate on professional landscape lighting. The guy, while very nice and apologetic, appeared not to know the lighting products very well. He spend about an hour in his truck calling his supervisor with questions.

First of all it took 3 weeks to get an appointment. They never called and I had to call them several times. His diagnosis on the fix....put all new pot lights in $3,270, Install surge protection $398, Rewire lines in the attic $748!!!! Total $4416. These lights are only 2 years old.....I could buy a lot of light bulbs for $4,416!! Do not book these people.
Description of Work: Provider was to examine pot lights as they seem to be burning out to quickly. I paid the $50 for the $100 toward the service visit. This is just a scam. They then asked if he could examine the breaker box which I gave permission...no mention of cost. He then opened the breaker box and "Looked" no testing equipment was used. This resulted in a charge of $298!......special is just a scam.

The provider called up to let us know that the tech was on the way out about an house before the service. after about 45 minutes the provider called back and told us that the tech would not be coming out do to a shortage of workers that day and the best they could do would be 18 days later. i asked the provider if there was a discount that could be added for the amount of time that we would have to wait on such short notice and she told us she would see what she could do and call me back by the end of the day. I didn't get a call. i called then the next day and they told me there was nothing that they could do and if i didnt want to wait i could call Angie's List and get the money back for the deal i bought. so i did. I called a competitor and they sent someone right over and had everything taken care of in a few hours.
Description of Work: Was setup to have a 220 line install in the garage for a AC unit and have 2 exterior lamps replaced as well and multiple small jobs around the house.

I did not use them. The price they quoted was so high I felt like the man did not want the job. I used some one else I paid half the price and the man I did get also installed a light fixture and repaired all the sheetrock. Was very disappointed in Bolt will not be calling them again.

I want to start by saying that the Tech that came to give us an estimate was very friendly and professional. This review was not about him but about the ridiculous prices charged to replace already existing lighting and fans at our house. The unfortunate way Bolt operates is that they come to price the job and then, if you accept, they do the work. Since they have standard pricing for their work, why couldn't they just give us the estimate in an email so we didn't have to waste our time and the tech's due to their crazy prices that we didn't accept? As a result, we were stuck AGAIN not getting our electrical work done and won't be down the rest of the season . . . Luckily we found a person to install our lights and fans and he saved us $1000.!!!!!! Unfortunately we paid money for a coupon that we will never use . . .
Description of Work: Came and gave an estimate a month later than originally supposed to come. We set a date in January and when I called to confirm, they didn't have us on the schedule. Since we aren't down here often, this was a problem and had to wait until the next time down.

They are extremely booked and backlogged. My first appointment was rescheduled due to an internal situation where I believe the tech in our area quit. They did the best they could to pickup the slack. The technician was courteous, knowledgeable and determined to find the solution. Unfortunately, he could not find an easy fix for our problem. We already knew this was the case, but needed a second opinion. I felt confident that if there were a solution, our tech would have found it. I would hire again.

Excellent service and very professional. On time and took care of both tasks quickly. Also checked the electrical panel. The service was excellent, however, I was a little shocked at the prices. It has been sometime since I hired an electrician for such tasks, so perhaps this is the prevailing price list.
Description of Work: Replaced outside light in same location as previous light. Replaced doorbell with new push button. Costs were for labor only.

okay, except the motion detect light is not appropriate to.site by size or use. We've been trying to work out a better alternative with them. So far they say, the one they installed was the only fixture available, from their sourse (while we've seen several at Lowes and Home Depot). Also they did not leave the brand new florescent bulbs from the one fixture which was replaced, so we could return them.

We scheduled for Monday February 15th. They called about 2 hours after the appointment time and cancelled. We scheduled for February 17 between 1 and 4 pm. I called around 3 to confirm they were coming and they said I was next on the list. They never showed up and I never heard from them.

Initially he was going to charge over $300 to run a cable line through the attic to fix the issue but all that was done is that the technician took out the housing unit that was in the fan that worked with the bedside control. The technician was nice and friendly but I thought the pricing was a bit much for what was done. I'm not complaining about the company but I thought the pricing was a little high although I'm not sure how much this type of job would cost. I was given a $59 charge for them to just come out which I wasn't aware of but I was given a good explanation of what was done.
Description of Work: He went and took our fan apart. He took out the box that works with the fan, the beside control which was broken.
