Al Griff returned my call immediately and came out to fix these minor repairs exactly when he said he would even though he was very busy. He is a contractor and doesn't normally do small jobs like this but made an exception, which I really appreciate. He did quality work and found creative solutions to fix problems. Fixing the microwave door was very challenging, and he was quite persistent until finally we looked online and discovered that hundreds of other people have had the same trouble fixing the door on this particular kind of microwave. I was impressed with how he stuck with it for a long time. He has a can-do attitude, which I admire. He was very professional and cleaned up everything when he was done. If I have more extensive repair work or remodeling to do, I would definitely call him back.

The job required removing the old door and the rotted frame and replacing it with a whole new frame and door. Had a large hole under a cabinet in a bed room that had to be covered. The frame work around the attic trap door had to be removed and a much nicer one put up. I will use Mr. Griffin again, he is very organized knows what he is doing and goes above and beyond in a very professional manner. If I could afford to I would have Mr. Griffin build me a whole new house.!

I contacted Griff's for the contractor for the day deal eight hours of service $299. He did call back promptly and said that he was booked through till June 25 as he had such a big response to the ad. I think my initial contact was somewhere around May 7 but I'm coming off a migraine so my memory is foggy right now. Griff also stated that the Ad was not even supposed to be running this long. but when I was on the website three days later or so when he said he was going to call the following day to have it removed, it was still showing so I sent him a quick email that it was still on there. He did refer me to a couple other people and I made contact with Ken Williams who I worked with for approximately two weeks trying to get estimates for remodeling a new home I had purchased. Ken was very nice, he did show me insurance certificates when he arrived at the unit but ultimately when he said he would provide references and photos of the work he had performed in the past, although he was had told me he had done work for one of the County Commissioners and likewise referred me to a company that he had referred them to work on same County commissioners home, the references and photos of Ken's work never followed nor did an actual written estimate is my recollection at the moment nor did a contract. He said his secretary would send them I received nothing. I would've given Ken the Contract because he had an easy manner about him and felt we would've communicated well. But when the references didn't come, nor photos of previous jobs, nor an actual written contract, I ended up emailing him back that his referral to a separate company who Ken said would be able to take care of installing the washer and dryer plumbing and electrical needed at the very minimum so we could at least start to move, and get to the other projects later, there was so much confusion with that appointment, where the representative who showed up was to be able to give me a quote for everything but he was unable to, and said he would have to send someone else out from the company the following week who would be able to talk about the whole home remodel as well as just the separate job of installing the washer dryer and pulling the electric and plumbing permits. Never heard back from that company either. It is now the middle of June and I purchased that big deal with Griff's the first week of May and not one thing has been done on the home which is costing me thousands of dollars in mortgage payments at the home I need to move out of and list on the market. Overall, extremely upset and disappointed, and its been a huge waste of my time, energy and money. For someone with my disabilities, this has just been utterly exhausting physically & emotionally. This whole incident was discussed at length with a telephone interviewer from Angie's list that also asked for reviews of service providers for your new tape recording services for your website that she explained you are in the process of setting up. I believe that was June 11 and I reminded her that I would need a refund and she said someone would contact me by next day. I understand from this email that had this link to this review I'm writing now said that you try to find other providers in the area but none are offering the big deal like Griff's was but that I will receive a list of names of people in the area who may point me in the right direction. Very well. Showed up on time. Had all materials, excellent worker but doesn't talk much.

I called him and he made an appointment for a couple of days later. He arrived promptly and we agreed that the job would be split into two parts, the first being the leveling of the bar/wall and the second being the removal of the old tile counters. I also told him that there were a number of projects that I would be needing bids on during the next few months. Hegave me a fair bid for the first part of the work I asked him to do, and told me up front that he was in the middle of a big job and that he couldn't get to my job until the first of the month and that he would call me. I didn't mind waiting for his reviews were good and he initially seemed like a nice man. After the first of the month passed I called him to see if he was going to do the job and he made an appointment for June 10th. He arrived with a helper, a very nice man named George, and began to do the work. They worked quickly and skillfully, taking care to clean up after themselves. So the work that they did--as far as it went-- was fine. After they mudded the holes they made in the wall Griff told me that when he came back he would sand them down and finish them. Yet when he was walking out the door he seemed to forget that he was coming back and when I reminded him and asked him to give me the bid for the kitchen countertop removal he suddenly didn't remember the conversation at all. His last words were that he would call me. That was one week ago and I haven't heard from him since. I guess the job wasn't big enough for him, which on some level I understand. What I don't understand is his dishonesty. Even though by that time I was disturbed by his attitude I really thought that he would finish the job. If he had told me he couldn't do it there would have been no problem and I would have gotten someone else to do it. Aside from the facts that he didn't complete the job and that he clearly didn't want the second part of the job but refused to tell me this, I cannot recommend Griff unless you are particularly thick skinned and can offer him both a job and an environment that doesn't offend his sensitivities in any way. He was very critical of my home. My wood floors, he told me, were all scratched up from my dogs, my yard was a jungle, and he didn't like my plan to renovate my fireplace. He is the type of person who insults you with a smile on his face. I don't need to pay for that service. Update 2/21/14: At the moment I amattempting to finish the part of the job that Griff left undone, and I am lowering the rating from D to F. The mess that he left on my wall is terrible. One one part of the wall the "repair" mudding he left extends from the wall about 1/3 of an inch. This is going to take a great deal of sanding to repair. The rest of the wall now bows in and in some places the original drywall screws are showing where they did not show before. His work is substandard and I advise all to think carefully about hiring him. Update: 2/25/14: The mess he was too big for me to handle. I had to hire someone to do it at a cost of $200. This small project has now cost me $600.

He was very efficient, neat, and pleasant. He got right to work. The price was very reasonable for what he did for me.

It went very well. He was on time and very pleasant, he even helped to resolve any minor issues as they arose. He is very helpful in every aspect.

I felt for the most part it went well. He came on time, and worked during the time he was there. He wanted everything approved before he felt the job was completed. I did approve it. Later I found a few things that I meant to call him back about, but due to some personal matters that came up I didn't get the chance. I did have the feeling from him that if I had called he would have been back to fix it.

Outstanding from beginning to end!! Mr. Griffin immediately contacted me in response to a message I left on Angie's List. He promptly came out to view the work and provided a quote. He provided a recommendation on the type of door to purchase and picked it up on his way to the job. On the day of the installation, Mr. Griffin telephoned to let us know he was on route and arrived promptly. He and his assistant were professionals through every aspect of the job. They covered furniture, vacuumed as they worked and cleaned up thoroughly at completion. Mr. Griffin is meticulous - checking the work with a level at every step and making several adjustments to be sure the sliding door and screen both worked effortlessly. His repair of our window sill is also fantastic - he created a concrete form and then mixed up concrete to replace the broken sill. Looks like new! Thanks again, Al for a job well done! I can not express how much I appreciate your working within my timeline. Would DEFINITELY use Mr. Griffin's services again and can recommend him without reservation.

He was AMAZING! First, he was amazing responsive to my original request - he called me back in minutes even though it was after work hours when I called him. Second, he came the very next door, providing a reasonable quotation and finished the work in just a couple of days. He was neat and thorough. Most of all, Al Griffin is a professional. He used only the highest grade materials - for example, he used birch plywood and the highest quality leveling materials to be sure the floor would be solid and level. He was a perfectionist - laying down the level every few minutes to be sure the floor was exactly level throughout. He was prompt to the appointment, very respectful of the space and completed the job on a very timely basis. I would DEFINITELY use him again for any and all repair and renovation projects in my home. He's coming back soon to do another tile job for us! The process of finding Al Griffin through Angie's List is a testament to why this site is SO valuable to consumers. This is a second home so we don't have a rich network of contractors to work with like we do in our hometown. We tried to find a contractor by working through friends and family. That was a disaster. We hired an unskilled friend of one of our colleagues, only to find out he was not equipped to do the job and charged a bunch more money than he should have. Next we went to the local tile stores looking for recommendations. They gave us a couple of names. They came to the house with completely different opinions about how to approach the job. They also came with high price tags and long lead times to get the job done. Then we went to Angie's List?.in one day we were in contact with three A rated contractors. Al responded quickly and came to the house the next day. All of his previous recommendations on the site were absolutely correct. This site does not have "paid" recommendations on it - these are the real deal. If they say someone is A rated, they're right. Thanks Al for doing such a great job! I can't say enough about how much we appreciate your professionalism, perfectionist tendencies, work ethic and pride you bring to the job! Can I get you to come to California now to do some work on my other house? :)

My experience with them was great. I am actually going to have them do some more work. He was there right away. It did not cost more than the big deal. He was very professional in the way he managed himself. When I asked him as far as any other work or to touch something up, he would just tell me to let him what I want. He was forthcoming in helping any way he could in doing the job that I wanted. It was the owner who came out. He was very efficient and very accommodating in his schedule.

I could not have asked for anything more. I live out of state and am getting a house ready for sale. Mr. Griffin was so friendly, helpful, and trustworthy.

Al is very professional. Knows his craft , polite, punctual and went beyond to get the job finished for my deadline.

Having found Al's name on Angie's List we rang him to ask him to quote for the work and he came round the same day. He said he could do the work the following week and arranged to come at 9am on Friday 8th Feb. Al arrived with his helper this morning 10 minutes earlier than scheduled, was very polite and professional and carried out the work, quickly, efficiently and neatly, leaving everything tidy and when he finished. He pointed out there was a problem with water coming down off the roof and missing the gutter which caused the deterioration to start with. We were very impressed with his work and would certainly use him again.

He is a perfectionist. He is the kind of man I need. He takes time and great effort to do the job right.
