I've had the services for years. I've upgraded to the lighting and HD services in February this year. I've had numerous techs come out (most of them EXTREMELY rude) and say "it's not the box it's _______". Well, it's always the box. They give you equipment that's been beat up for years and doesn't work properly and then you have to call them numerous times to have them tell you it's not the equipment. The internet is the absolute worst. It drops/dies every single day. I've had four techs come out in the past 6 months. I've called them at least twice that. It never gets fixed. I work from home and run a business on the side. How can I do any of that when I can't access the Internet? I would not recommend brighthouse to anyone who actually has to do serious work on the Internet and have guaranteed connectivity at all times. (Apologies for any typos or grammatical issues. I have to write this on my phone because the internet is down yet again and will not be back in service until I go pick up new equipment at their office two days from now)
Description of Work: I have lighting high speed Internet and HD cable services. They are terrible. Cable is buggy and internet dies everyday

It works perfect for me. I use my conputer to access the internet for e-mail and shopping, banking surfing etc. I have the basic, least fast service. Video streaming seems to work well too.
Description of Work: well, Brighthouse is the only provider in my zip code. The first time I called, I was quoted $91 per month for internet only. The person I was talking to didn't offer any alternative. Several days later I called again and spoke with some else but I was more specific that I only wanted to use my computer. They fixed me up with a no contracts, no fee's for basic internet for $20 per month.

Stuff went out all the time. Half the service calls they never showed or stuck a note on the door saying the problem was outside. How can there always be issues outside. I had both my router and cable box replaced twice. Still have issues.

The installer was pleasant and efficient. He didn't waste any time and took only a couple of hours to get everything taken care of. My only issue with Brighthouse so far is their DVR service. Their DVR is not as user friendly as I previously had. When you try to bring up a recorded show, it hesitates. When you try and delete a show it hesitates so you don't know if you've pressed the right buttons, or it's just slow. It isn't a huge deal; however, it is annoying.
Description of Work: Before we moved back to St Petersburg I contacted Verizon and signed up for Internet. cable and phone service. They were to come on Friday, August 16th. When that day came they said they couldn't install our service because there had never been service with Verizon at our residence. I called Brighthouse that same day and they came the very next day and installed our cable, Internet and phone service. It was that easy.

Bright House is very difficult to reach over the phone to set up appointments. Hold times are crazy long and getting cut off happens often. The technician was scheduled between 10 am and 12. He showed up around 1pm. The technician seemed very proficient. It was a big job. He finished around 6pm because he had to wait on hold for Bright House too! Each step of the process seemed very frustrating, didn't go smoothly. Lot's of resets and a couple changes of boxes to get ones that worked. Overall, disappointed in Bright House. If they didn't have such a monoply on this area, they may be forced to provide better customer service.

I have been trying for a week to have them install phone service at my house to be able to send and receive a fax. The first time the technician came, he did not do the work completely. I called again to schedule another appointment. At this time, the tech. did not show up. I was told that he came but no one was home which was not true. I did not leave the house that day. Then, I scheduled another appointment, and again the technician did not show up. According to them, there was a mistake on the order. (just one more lie). After my third attempt, A technician finally came to resolve the issue. I have spent an incredible amount of time waiting for a tech. and on the phone with them. I was told that the company's philosophy is to schedule as many appointments as possible each day, and if they are late(as they always are) or no one shows up; they simply give you a small credit for the inconvenience. This had been a very stressful week for me. They do not respect your time. They are dishonest and not very professional either. The worst company I know. I did not read very good reviews about their service, but I still wanted to try it and see it for myself. WHAT A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!.

When the technician came to the door, my wife noticed that he had parked ON THE LAWN. Dreaming of broken sprinkler heads and lovely tracks through the grass, my wife asked him to either park on the street or in our driveway. He split the difference, parking in the street while completely blocking our driveway. He came in and made the swap out for us. In the process, he pulled a book case out and left it where it was when he was finished. He also changed the name of our router (we have had the same name on our router for years) to some seemingly random digits. When my wife asked him to change it back, he said no. I have not been a fan of Bright House for a long time and personally, I feel that these governmentally licensed monopolies should be a thing of the past. However, today was the lowest experience I have ever had with one of their technicians. Interestingly enough, we had another repairman in the house at the time and after the exchange regarding the parking on the lawn, the other man said "cable guy, right?"
Description of Work: The technician came to the house to install a new internet router.

When Tech #1 came out, he installed a new converter. This did not solve the problem. He went into the attic to fix the splitter. That did not work either. He called a Bright House colleague (Tech#2) who came over, with no success. Tech #1 said that the cable must be bad and he'd place a call for an installer. When we called Bright House to confirm this appointment, we found out that Tech #1 never did place the call. He seemed in such a rush to leave the house, that he left several pieces of equipment in our attic. Today, Tech #3 came out - he replaced the cable going into the garage and managed to get the TV to work - he too was in such a rush to leave that he left his communication device behind - I ran after him to give it to him. We discovered that he only managed to get 1 channel to work. We were on the phone with customer service for well over an hour but they were unsuccessful in getting the TV to work. Tomorrow, we await Tech #4. Each time we call customer service, they try to sell us new services. Our monthly bill has gone from $99 to $140 and we have added no new services. We are extremely disappointed with Bright House.
Description of Work: Our TV stopped working and when we called the customer service line, we were told that most likely we needed a new converter and a Bright House tech would come to the house the next day. We'd had a storm that night and assumed that that was the issue. Our nightmare (which continues) was about to begin.

went fine. installer was professional and seemed to know what needed to be done. took his time to make sure everything was up and running before leaving. The first visit was within the time frame they promised. Techs talked mostly about what was wrong with the house construction/wiring without offering any clear solutions. They pulled out cables out of the wall by prying open the outlet box and damaging the walls and ultimately left the cables dangling out saying that the satellite guy, who is due to come the next day, will fix everything. When they finally got the modem set up - they wouldn't set it up in the office as I requested unless I pay $40 (although the lines were already in the wall and needed to bring it out through an outlet on the other side of the wall). For landline phone service, they advised that I should hook up the phone to the modem and use cordless if I need service in any other rooms in the house. They told me that house has only a few phone jacks so they cann't activate the existing jacks! So now I am left with dead phone jacks, a pried open dry wall in the garage with cables hanging out and the unsightly internet modem sitting on my entertainment center in the family room. Worst thing is what happened when we tried to get some customer service. Next day a trouble call technician showed up and said he will get everything fixed, even have a new internet outlet for free and that he will include these instructions as 'notes' on our account and asked us to call to make new appointments. The following day, when we called customer service says they can't access those notes and there will be new charges if we ask for reappointments. I tried online chat - there the 'e-service specialist' said I will have to pay $40 for every phone jack to be activated! After patient explaining, she seemed to agree that there will be 'no charges on phone jack activation' and started explaining lot of policies that didn't really apply to our situation. One of the technicians who made the first call didn't had enough training, wasn't knowledgeable and unprofessional (he even said that I should say the service was satisfactory on the form because he felt they did a good job!). The tech who came in on the second day seem to be technically knowledgeable. Customer service (on phone and online chat) was unhelpful particularly because they were helpless (lacked the power to resolve the issue) and inadequately trained with company policies. So my last resort now is to write to their 'office of president' - which they do offer on their website (and keep my fingers crossed they do respond to resolve the issue). Finally, we were able to get hold of someone at the customer service who seem to follow everything and the third appointment was scheduled. Tech came in early this time, activated all phone jacks with some additional wirings in the MBR and created an outlet for the modem in my office. He also fixed the hole in the garage wall (although he left a crack unfilled alongside the box). Except for the first visit, techs were genuinely interested in solving the problem at hand and making sure everything was just right.

Their phone service is the best. You can't get all that stuff that cheap anywhere else. They are extremely responsive if something goes wrong. The internet service in my ipad and iphone are fine. They have a model built in with wifi and router fit in with your modem so I use my ipad and my iphone, so I don't use my laptop all that much. The customer service is good. I have four cable boxes. I have like whole house DVR plus and showtime thing etc. I would continue to use them.

When we bought our house, Brighthouse switched our internet and cable service from our rental property to the new house on the day they promised, with no lapse in service. A few months later, we had some yard work done and the construction crew inadvertently severed the cable in our back yard. Brighthouse sent a tech out that same day, who re-ran cable from the junction box to our house and even re-wired the point where the cable enters the house. We were very impressed at the service and especially with the tech who came to the house for the install.

A lot of people have problems with Bright House, but I've never had any serious issues with them. I have had great service and reception with all their products I have had Bright house as my internet and cable provider for about 8 years. They have always provided good service. I have had very few outages in that time, and they have been very prompt when coming by for service. No more endless wasted time -- time waiting on a cable guy like I remember from long ago and no wasted time on hold trying to reach a live operator. I recently had a box fail and I was able to go the office and exchange it. I was in and out in a few minutes and my cable is working again. Customer service has always been GREAT. When I call it?s generally easy to speak to an actual LIVE AND LOCAL PERSON. The company whom I have to deal with now has an out of town call center and trying to speak to someone is about as difficult as trying to reach the President of the US. I now have a new found appreciation to Brighthouse.

SUMMARY: Dreadful overall installation experience. Poorly equipped installation technician. Failure to show up for a followup appointment. Some of the original installation work had to be re-done. When the installation technician arrived, I began to realize that he lacked the basic tools for doing a routine installation. He did not have a working drill, extension cord, or ladder. He also struggled with diagnosing a problem house's pre-wired cable. I'm not sure if he was adequately trained. What should have been a 1 hour job went 3.5 hours and he still was unsure of the installation. I made him leave because I had to go to an appointment. So, we agreed he could come back the following Wednesday. On Wednesday, I stayed home from work but no one from Brighthouse called or showed up. On Thursday my spouse came home early from work so that a different Brighthouse technician could evaluate the installation. Some of the previous installation work had to be re-done.

tiI am very frustrated with Brighthouse, Road Runner, and Time Warner Cable. If this is the service that we're going to have to deal with, it's time to give us this frustration and move to where there's better service.
Description of Work: It would appear that Bright House has been sold to Time Warner Cable. Since March 3rd I haven't been able to send out e-mail on my road runner account. I have called three times and spent more than an hour on the phone with reps, always ending with the idea that my problem has been solved. Again today, I can't send out an e-mail. i get a different page to sign in, and have to type in all the info each time...e-mail address and password. in the past, I would just click "b" and the info would pop in. Then, when I try to reply to an e-mail and spend time writing it, I get a message "There was a problem processing your last request, please try again later."

I'm not too happy with Bright House Networks because the prices keep going up and they keep cutting channels. It's very hard to use antennas because we're far from any of the transmitters. You have to have a box or high definition. Then they keep trying to raise the prices or get you to buy some additional stuff, which I don't care for. There's a lot of channels I don't want, but I have to pay for them anyway. They give you a lot of stuff I don't need. I wish they had opt out.

I've been using Brighthouse Networks for my cable television since moving to Palm Harbor in 2004. Tonight, I rented a movie for $4.99. The quality of the movie as it was streaming was very poor. I pay a premium for extra bandwidth, so it was a bit frustrating. Rather than sit through a movie that was sputtering out of my television, I simply called Brighthouse to ask them to credit me for the movie. I waited for over an hour to speak to a representative. After my first 30 minutes on hold, I signed on to their on-line chat to see if I could find some satisfaction. Before I could find a resolution, I was cut off from chat by their firewall. Luckily, I remained on hold, and after an hour, a Brighthouse representative offered to refund my $4.99. A customer should never be left on hold for an hour.

The tech arrived on time which is very unusual for cable TV companies, he was polite and completed his work in a reasonable time frame, What made this an average experience instead of a good one was he was not familiar with who the TV remote worked and could not provide guidance on how to use all the features, when questioned he said " I have Comcast at home and do not use this remote much."; since the company does not provide us with any literature on channels and a user guide the response was "check out our website you may be able to find information there. He seemed in a rush to get on his way to the next job.

Brighthouse was not willing to acccomadate or explain their actions. It is just the way it is because they can.
Description of Work: I have had the exact same cable service in my home since I built it in 1995. At the time, I had Cox Cable, who had wonderful service and rates. Then Brighthouse took over and it all went down hill. They continually raised thier rates and customer service was not good at all. Aug 6, 2012 I came home to find a notice on my door that my service had been "corrected". I called and was Apparantly, the service I have always had, have never changed and never signed a new contract with Brighthouse is no longer acceptable to Brighthouse. I was specifically told by Brighthouse when they took over Cox that all would remain the same. Now, years later, Brighthouse decides this is no longer true and they cut me off (my bills are paid on time every month). Now, in order to get the few channels I had (which are very basic and do not include movie channels), I must pay another $30 a month which will also upgrade my internet, which I do not need. Brighthoise is a monopoly and does what they choose to the consumer. They need competition again so the consumer has choices when they are ripped off. I will not pay $30 more to get a couple more channels, which I have had for almost 20 years. Brighthouse did not provide the courtesy of a phone call or prior notice, they jsut cut me off. Terrible, terrible company.

Response from BRIGHT HOUSE NETWORKS
Member thank you for your recent review of your experience with Bright House Networks. There appears to be some confusion in your statment above. First and foremost you were receiving a level of service to which you were not subscribed or paying for. Meaning that for a long period of time you were paying for one level of service but receiving a higher level of service due to our error in the field. Through the normal audit process this error was discovered and corrected on 8/6/12 and a notification of this was left at your residence. Also to clarify Bright House Networks does not require or offer contracts of any type for residential service. You are not obligated in any way to complete a term of service with our company but from time to time we may offer you a special promotional rate for a period of time but still with no contract. You are under no obligation in any way and yet your rate would remain the same for the term of the promotion or until you changed your level of service that prevents you from receiving the same promotion. I have reached out to you by phone in an attempt to clarify everything today and look forward to hearing from you.
