 + -1 moreMy botched effort at replacing a shower faucet resulted in a bent pipe in the wall that caused it to leak in that interior pipe. We were then without water because I had to shut off the water supply to my house. I called Bob and Max and they dropped what they were doing and were at my house within an hour. They shut off the water at the shower so he had water for the rest of our house, gave me a price to repair the damage I had done and replace the faucet. Bob and Max were back the next day and even though they encountered some unanticipated complications, they did the work and honored the original quote.

He arrived right around the time we agreed on. Bob and his nice young assistant worked tirelessly and completed the job sooner than I thought necessary.  + -1 moreWhat a great experience! I called Bob first thing, explained the situation, and he said he would be over around noon. He called at noon, and said that he would be around 15 minutes. When he arrived, he and Max were so nice and courteous. I explained the situation, and showed them the problem area. Max identified the issue as my kitchen sink being vented to the roof with PVC pipe, the wrong length of pipe was used, and instead of cutting the pipe, the previous plumbers used a T corner without capping one side, so rain was getting into to my attic and ceiling soffit. Max took about 15 minutes to correct the problem and clean up the drywall and insulation. I even got a discount for using Angie's list. I just found my new go to guys!

 + -1 moreI live in a townhouse and originally called him to check out a mold problem in my powder room. He discovered it was coming from my next door neighbor's unit. They had a leaking pipe in the wall of their garage. He fixed their problem and then came back the next day to do my work. Both times it was late afternoon as he was busy on another job. I was pleased with the work, Bob and Max were pleasant, neat and pretty speedy. They were not at my house for 1 1/2 hrs.
Description of Work: Installed a new garbage disposal which he provided; installed 3 grab rails in shower and tub areas and did a very minor adjustment to stop a leaking toilet.

Description of Work: The plumbing in the guest suite had backed up - the water in the toilet was backing up into the shower stall and the toilet bowl was overflowing. The toilet handle was malfunctioning so the tank didn't fill up and the toilet would run. In another bathroom, the chain in the tank was malfunctioning and the tank would not fill up. We called Bob on Sunday (Memorial Day weekend). He and Max came out first thing the next morning and fixed all the issues and explained how we could prevent this in the future (our guest suite toilet, shower and sink, as well as the utility sink in the garage were clogged by palmetto bugs because we did not use the sinks and toilet enough). In addition to the above experience, last year, our water bill was extraordinarily high. We are conservative with our water usage and three other plumbers believed it was a leak underneath the slab of the guest suite, which would have necessitated either bypassing the plumbing through the wall or drilling through the slab (both were expensive solutions). We hired Bob and Max to investigate and Bob went with his experience and instincts and figured out that in fact, the problem was the nipple above the hot water tank, which he repaired for less than $200.

 + -1 moreMax responded very quickly to our call. He worked on unclogging our drain for about an hour, once he felt everything was good to go. He showed us the toilet and water running effectively and smoothly. After 6-8 hours or so, we continued to have the same problem, however Max and Bob both came out the very next morning and fixed the problem and we haven't had any issues since. They did NOT charge us anything for the second call. Max and Bob were both professional and courteous. I would recommend them (and have) and would use them again.Thank you for your service.

 + 0 moreI had a clogged up sewer line, my toilets were not flushing properly and shower was backing up. I called Bob about 8:30 am and left a message to call me when he can. Bob returned my call very quickly and was at my front door about an hour later. Both Bob and Max were very polite and professional. They fixed my problem very quickly and cleaned up the job site as if they were never even there. I have used other local and major plumbing companies in the past and none of them come close to Bob Hyps Plumbing. . Bob and Max are the best.

 + -1 moreBob met with our property manager at the house. He used a snake to remove the debris. It appeared that the problem was solved. He also advised our tenant to be careful of what they throw in the toilet, which we really appreciated. The tenant then called Bob again to say that they were still having drainage issues in the master bathroom. As he has a five day guaranty, he again went out to the property and used a snake. He did not charge us for this second service call. It appears that the problem has now been solved.
Description of Work: My husband and I own rental property in St. .Petersburg, Florida. Just when our new tenants moved in, the drain in the master bathroom was clogged. The shower was not draining properly, and the toilet was not flushing properly. Our property manager called several companies and liked the fact that Bob offered a "no surprises" price of $195.

 + 1 moreWe are new to the area and just bought a house. When the bathroom toilet started jetting water out, I kinda freaked. We called Bob and he and Max showed up very quickly, at 7 at night, and worked till 9, making sure it was done before they left. Both Bob and Max were very professional, very nice, and very helpful. Easy to talk to, they were straight and up front about what they were doing and did a great job. Very thorough, I was impressed with their work and their attitudes. Will definitely use them for my plumbing needs in the future.
Description of Work: Bathroom sink was slow, kitchen sink was slow, and toilet was leaking water out from around the bolts in the floor. They came out and snaked the system taking a REALLY disgusting chunk of junk out of the sewer, and cleaned out the sinks. I took the toilet off, but they fixed the blockage, replaced the toilet and changed out all the internals of the tank and the hoses.

Description of Work: I would under no circumstances recommend BOB Hyps Plumbing. Things started out poorly when they arrived late and tried to brush off the tardiness as no big deal. When they finally arrived things went from bad to worse. It wasn't but 15 minutes into the job and BOB the owner insulted my 6-year-old son. Not cool BOB. Sorry BOB but we have choices and your behavior was not acceptable. You get an F.

 + -1 moreI was relunctant to call a plumber since I had bad experiences in the past. However, after looking at the reviews on Angies List, I took the plunge and called. I explained to Bob, who answered the phone, the scope of the work that needed to be performed and he assured me that it was all within his purview and we set-up an appointment for 10 days later. He was very polite, listened to my concerns and when asked gave me a ballpark quote of no more than $300. I was very happy with the interaction and looked forward to the service call. My appointment was for 10 AM but at 10:30 AM no one had called or showed up so I called them and asked them when they could be expected. Please note that I understand that emergencies happen and my services were NOT emergencies so I was more than willing to give them some slack. Max answered the phone and apologized profusely and promised to be there by 2PM. Well he showed up early just past 1PM. He was a delightful, insightful and very polite young man, He answered all my questions and explained everything he was going to do or doing to my entire satisfaction. He left my place cleaner than when he got there. In the end, the total bill came to $327 which included the $75 for the water filtration system reapir and the $25 coupon discount for Angies list members. I offered to print off the coupon but he said that it was not necessary and gave my the $25 off!! I was very pleased with the end results of their services and would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a plumber. I know that I will be calling them again when I make some changes to my bathrooms. Thank you Max!
Description of Work: I called Bob Hyps plumbing for 4 services: 1) Remove the old kitchen faucet and install a new one 2) Repair the water filtration faucet and system that was leaking and unusable 3) Repair the faucet in the master bathroom shower that was hard to open and close 4) Investigate whether it would be possible to move my dishwasher further back into under my cabinet since it sticks out about 1 1/2 inches beyond the current countertop. Max was the service professional that came to my condo and performed all the above services. 1) He remove the old faucet and installed a new Moen faucet which in his humble opinion was the best faucet companies around. He was surprised that I got such a good price. He said that he pays more to his supplier and wanted to know where I purchased it (@ Lowes on sale). I had a bad seal or maybe not enough plumbers putty installed under the last faucet that was installed by another plumber and he explained what he was going to do and did to my great satisfaction. My faucet came with a soap dispenser that I did not want installed. After Max completed the faucet installation with the new pull down sprayer, it left a hole where my handheld sprayer had been. I just wanted it capped but he kindly explained the benefits of having the soap dispenser installed and how easy it was to fill (in the past you had to climb under the sink to fill them) so I agreed to have it installed and it looks great!! 2) Max looked at the water filtration system above and below the counter and said that he needed a new faucet and some other parts and that they did not carry that on the truck but quoted me $75 for the repair which I agreed to. After he finished the other services, he left to purchase the parts and came back within an hour with a new stainless steel faucet to match the sink faucet that he had previously installed. It matched beautifully and makes the whole kitchen look like new. 3) I had been using WD-40 for a while to try to make the faucet function better (I know that I should have called a plumber earlier). Max had the part in the truck and easily replaced the "cartridge" that had just worn out. 4) Max looked at the current installation and confirmed that he could not move the dishwasher back any further. Although I was disappointed I was happy that it was independantly confirmed by someone other that the plumber who originally installed the dishwasher.

 + -1 moreAt the worst possible time, our shower started backing up. To make matters worse, it was raining outside. I called Bob Hyps, and he stated that if it was raining, it created an unsafe environment to snake a vent - so, he waited and called me back a couple of times until the rain had subsided - at which time, he said that he would try regardless of the wet conditions. Long story short, Bob came with his helper, Max - (who extended his hand and introduced himself upon arrival). Both of them had `can do' attitudes, and didn't make me feel that I was imposing on their time (as with some other plumbers I've used in the past). They went on the roof, snaked the line, repaired the problem and cleaned up after themselves. In addition, I never had to ask for the Angies List discount, because Bob automatically gave it to me. I have finally found my `go to' plumbers - and it is Bob Hyps Plumbing.

 + 0 moreCalled Bob after finding out in the very early a.m., that my water heater had died and leaked out, filling up the overflow pan. He said he would be at my home by noon, after finishing another job. To my surprise, he was able to show up 2 hrs early. My "shorty" water heater was positioned up on a shelf, above my washer and dryer. It was an older model, and was FILLED with sediment. Bob and his assistant Max, worked very hard to remove the old water heater - having to unhook and move both the washer and dryer first. Just the fact that they had to remove the heavy water heater from a 4ft high shelf while on ladders, is enough for a, "job well done"! They did a great job, and made sure to clean up afterward. Price was a little high, but it wasn't really an easy job. Max, his assistant, did a wonderful job! Bob really kept him busy! Good luck to him on his apprenticeship - and hopefully, he'll be on Angie's list one day!

 + -1 moreCalled Bob and explained the problem I was having at a rental property. He was able to make an appointment for that afternoon. He arrived on time according to the renters and proceeded to make the required repairs. Bob was very accommodating in accepting payment by credit card over the phone. However it was not long after Bob had left the home when the renters called me to complain that the toilet was now leaking from the upper tank. I called Bob but it was so late there was nothing he could do till Monday. Early Monday morning Bob showed up at the house and had brought a new toilet with him in case he was not able to repair the old one. It turned out the old one had been repaired where the leak was sometime in the past. Bob said he should have caught that on his first visit and was taking $100 plus the Angie list discount of the price. I couldn't argue with that and thought it more then fair. The new toilet is a nice one and uses a lot less water then the old one. I am very pleased.

 + -1 moreThey checked out everything in the house. They flushed all the toilets and ran water in all the tubs and sinks. They flushed the toilet which was clogged and it flushed just fine. They said it must have been a temporary. They asked if we wanted them to change the seal and we said no. They did not end up charging us anything to come out and check on this issue.
