This is the first time I have used this company and I was so glad to finally find someone who knows how to properly clean gutters and downspouts. For at least 3 years the downspouts were literally not draining and water would spill over the sides of the gutters, despite twice a year cleanings. But The Gutter Man changed all that. They called the day before the work was to be done to let me know when to expect them. They cleaned the gutters and downspouts and blew leaves and debris off the roof of the house an also the screenporch and carport awnings. When it rained, I noticed 2 downspouts were still not draining right. Not to worry- they gladly came back to take care of it and at no additional charge. Everything is working great! It's nice to look out and see the rainwater flowing out of the downspouts. I used to dread the rain, but not anymore. Thumbs up and five stars for The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay!

UPDATE 7.30.12: There is very little truth in Mr. Carey's company response. The truth is, when water damage appeared on my ceiling, I called the first roofer. He incorrectly believed the damage was caused by a faulty tie-in (where the flat and shingle roof meet). He totally failed to notice the broken seal and screw holes around the perimeter of the flat roof caused by the Gutter Man of Tampa Bay. In his company response, Mr. Carey refers to this estimate as "other issues I was having with my roof and ceiling." In reality there were no other issues, just an incorrect assessment by the first roofer. No subsequent roofer ever mentioned the tie-in. The second roofer found the true cause of the leak which was the broken seal and screw holes caused by Mr. Carey. However she failed to find the damage caused to the fascia soffit and decking boards. She mistakenly thought she could just feel the perimeter of the roof. This is the $825 estimate Mr. Carey speaks of in his response. It was never possible. The third roofer, the head estimator of Arry's Roofing Company (a reputable roofing company, recommended by Angie's List) explained to Mr. Carey months ago that the only way to correct the extensive damage caused by his company was to replace the roof. He explained to Mr. Carey that any attempt to repair the edges of the roof would build up the edges of the roof causing pooling of water in the center of the flat roof and thus new leakage. At this point Mr. Carey called his insurance company. I detail what happened next in my member statement to Angie's List. In his response, Mr. Carey criticizes me for complaining "about the adjustment process and the adjuster himself." I do not know a person on this earth who would not complain about an adjuster who comes to inspect a roof with NO LADDER. It was also not appropriate to have their "independent roofer" come to my home accompanied by an agent of his insurance company. This agent voiced his opinion the entire time they were on the roof. Then the roofer and agent spoke in private in front of my house for another hour. In the end Mr. Carey's insurance company offered me $1,100 for all damages. His insurance company came up with that number because the roofer they hired wanted $1,100 to repair the edges of the roof and to replace all of the rotted wood. That $1,100 did NOT include any payment for the removal and replacement of the gutters and gutter covers, which was even deemed necessary by their roofer. The $1,100 did NOT include any payment for the removal and replacement of the pool cage screen needed to access rotted boards. There was no compensation included for the painting of the new fascia and soffit boards or for the ceiling damage repairs. All of these costs would have occurred whether the roof was repaired or replaced. Yet Carey or his insurance company will not pay for the necessary costs. When the old gutters were removed in order to do the roof work, they were destroyed. Years ago they had been attached with spikes and nails and they were not salvageable. New gutters had to be installed. Carey's gutter covers had to be replaced with new correct gutter covers because Carey had installed the wrong covers for a flat roof system. You would think Mr. Carey, a gutter man, would understand the basic facts. Instead he accuses me of just wanting a new gutter system. Obviously I could not trust Carey to do this work. I had to protect my new roof. Therefore I hired a new, reputable gutter company to do the work. Carey has never even reimbursed me for his incorrect covers. In his company response, Carey states, "It still remains to be shown what damage, if any, was caused by the leaf guards to the underside of her roof." Common sense tells you that when you foolishly break a seal on a roof and then make numerous holes in the roof with screws, that water will run under and through the roof. This water will damage the wood under the roof and then the ceilings under the wood. Mr. Carey's request of me to supply the pictures of the wood damage to his insurance company is a joke and a stall. The $1,100 offer from his insurance company already included replacement costs of all the rotted wood. My old roof was in great shape until the Gutter Man of Tampa Bay destroyed it. It had good granulation and was still white. Roofers not hired by Carey's insurance company said it would have lasted many years if the Gutter Man of Tampa Bay hadn't destroyed it. Five and a half months have passed since Carey's insurance company got involved. Carey continues to make excuses and misstate the facts. He refuses to take responsibility for the thousands of dollars of damage he caused. Mr. Carey's refusal to accept responsibility is perfectly portrayed in his company response where he blames "humidity" for the damage done to my property during the initial painting of the gutters on the front of my house. Mr. Carey, "humidity" did not get paint on my house, driveway, sidewalks, and street. Document #1 This is a photo showing the damage done to my flat roof by The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay. To the left, is the surface of the flat roof. The edges have been pried up around the entire perimeter, breaking the seal on the roof. You can also see the screws he put through the roof. Water ran under the roof and through each screw hole, damaging wood below. In the middle of the photo you see the incorrect gutter covers. To the right you see the pool cage screen that had to be removed for access. This photo also confirms the excellent granulation remaining on my old roof. The roof was in good condition and would have lasted several more years, if it hadn't been destroyed by The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay. Document #2 & #3 This is the estimate by the second roofer to inspect the roof. Unlike the first roofer, she did find the damage caused by Carey. She did not know the gutter covers had been on for several months and had already caused wood and ceiling damage. She mistakenly thought she could just seal the perimeter of the roof. this is the $825 estimate Carey speaks of in his company response. This repair was not possible. It didn't address the rotted boards on the ceiling. It was made in error by a part time estimator. The head estimator of Arry's explained to Carey months ago that because of the substantial water damage caused by Carey's faulty installation, the roof would have to be replaced, not repaired. Document #4 This is the estimate for repair of the roof by the "independent" roofer hired by Mr. Carey's insurance company. You will note the estimate already includes the replacement of all rotted wood, including deck plywood, fascia and soffit boards. He believed there was pre-existing damage to the fascia and soffit boards. He couldn't prove there was and I couldn't prove there wasn't. His statement says "no all damage is from the screens." That means some is. It was irrelevant anyway because his estimate included the replacement of all rotted wood. At the bottom he states the necessity of removing gutter and screen prior to repairs, but does not include the price of this in his estimate. I had to pay for this with no reimbursement from Mr. Carey or his insurance. this was necessary expense for a repair or a replacement of the roof. UPDATE: 4/5/13: 4/3/13 For months I tried to get Mike Carey, the owner of The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay and the owner of The Gutter Man of Savannah, to come to a fair settlement. In October 2012 I decided I could not let this injustice stand and I hired a lawyer. Fortunately by then the ?no ladder? adjuster was gone. The new adjuster was forced to consider the true facts, rather than the fictitious tail concocted by Mike Carey and his buddies. After months, they offered me 3 times more than their previous offer this settlement amount was several hundred more than the 2500 that I had offered to settle for a year ago, but still much less than the actual damage costs remarkably, as part of the settlement, Carey?s insurance company forced him to reimburse me, out of his own pocket, for the original cost of the faulty gutter covers. After the settlement was reached, Carey?s asked to add a confidentiality clause he wanted to prevent me from speaking about my favorable outcome with anyone naming Angie?s List specifically. It appears Mike Carey?s only concern remains to be keeping the truth a secret.
Description of Work: I hired The During installation, they destroyed my roof. They pried up the edges of the flat roof around the entire perimeter of the roof. This broke the seal allowing water to run under the roof. They further compromised the roof by putting screws through the roof deck, which is against building code. The water rotted fascia and soffit boards and damaged ceilings. In the beginning there was confusion on how to correct the destruction. Finally, competent roofers determined the only solution was to replace the roof. I contacted Mike Carey, the owner of The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay, and he contacted his insurance company. For 13 weeks I have had to deal with his insurance company on my own. Mr. Carey stopped responding to letters and phone calls long ago. First his insurance company sent out an adjuster with no ladder to inspect the roof. Since he could not go up on the roof, he sat in my home for 1 and a half hours asking questions. Having never seen the roof, he offered me 10% of the cost of the damage. Next they sent out an "independent roofer" that they hired. The "independent roofer" arrived arm and arm with the "no ladder adjuster." After weeks of enduring this sham, I paid to have the roof replaced. Before the roof could be replaced, I had to hire a new gutter company to remove the gutters. Then they had to replace the gutters and covers. Rotted fascia and soffit boards had to be removed, replaced, and painted. Pool cage screens had to be removed and replaced to give access. Ceilings had to be repaired. I asked The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay to pay me approximately 32% of the total cost. After all of these months, they have offered me 14% of the total cost. I have never heard from Mike Carey again. In addition to this nightmare, when The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay installed the gutters on my home, they were paid to paint the gutters. The crew came with no painting equipment and admitted they had never painted anything before. They got paint on the street, the driveway, and on my house. They painted the gutters with no preparation what so ever. Consequently the paint bubbled, streaked and never dried. I made frantic phone calls the The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay while this was happening and after the fact. I was given every excuse in the book until finally Mike Carey came to attempt to correct the mess. This company's incompetence destroyed my property. The incompetence was followed by in difference and in action. They still refused to pay their fair share for correcting their destruction.Gutter Man of Tampa Bay to install covers on my gutters.

Response from The Gutter Man Of Tampa Bay LLC
From the first mention of any trouble with the member’s roof, I have made numerous attempts to replace the leaf guards on her back flat roof gutters, pay for repairs to the edge of her roof and any other damage that may have resulted from water intrusion. In December of 2011 I met with the member, conferred with the roofing company estimator and had worked out a solution to the problem. The member had previously contacted the roofer to repair other issues she was having with her roof and ceiling, and the estimator noticed that the edges of the roof had come up as a result of the leaf guards we installed. I agreed to pay the roofer to seal the perimeter of the roof ($825) while they were doing other repairs to her roof and told the member I would replace the leaf guards with another type that would not affect the roof edge at my cost. Everything was arranged and the roofer was to contact me when they began their work so I could do our part. Months went by and I spoke to the roofing company VP for Production about the status of the repairs and he informed me that the member had since sought out several estimates for replacing the entire roof and was looking at replacing all of the gutters as well. I called the member and she informed me that the roofers could not warranty the roof repairs (it was a 15-year roof that was 14 years old) and so she decided to have the entire roof replaced and had talked to another gutter company about replacing all of the gutters after taking them down so the roofing company could do whatever wood repairs would be necessary. I asked her to let me do the gutter work (as the gutters were fine and just needed to be taken down and reinstalled) and replace the leaf guards at our expense and she refused. (Which was odd, since she had been a customer since 2007 and we had always made sure she was satisfied with our work. I had personally come back to prep, prime and repaint her front gutters when pigmentation streaks appeared from humidity present during the original painting. She was satisfied to the extent that she wanted other work done- gutter cleaning and leaf guards on her front and rear gutters.) The member told me she just wanted me to pay an amount of over $2,000 toward her new roof and gutters. I informed her that if she was unwilling for us to do the gutter work and pay the roofer for our share of the repairs, I would have to refer her to our insurance carrier and she would have to deal with the insurance adjuster to determine the extent of any damage and I would be satisfied with whatever amount they came up with. Since then the insurance company offered $1100 toward the repairs, which was more than the depreciated replacement value of the entire roof. She has rejected all offers and demanded $2500. I have spoken to the member on several occasions during this process, only to hear her complaining about the adjustment process and the adjuster himself. As I explained to her, once the claim was open I cannot interfere with that process and she had to deal with them at that point. If she chose to have a completely new roof and all new gutters, she should not expect us to pay an amount higher than our part to offset those costs. It still remains to be shown what damage if any was caused by the leaf guards to the underside of her roof, which already shows evidence of long-term wear and tear. Without additional information, I can only rely on our insurance adjuster, the original estimator and the independent roofer who had advised him on the extent of any damage above and beyond pre-existing damage of over 14 years of use. Apparently there were several estimates that the member received with regards to the damage and repairs, but would not allow the adjuster to view them. Since she has had the new roof and gutter work done, I would be willing to pass on any evidence of damage observed by the roofers as a result of our work to our insurance company to reconsider their position. I personally contacted the roofer to obtain such evidence and was denied. Perhaps the member can get objective evidence of this and provide it to the insurance adjuster and possibly receive a better offer. Since I was denied access to the process, I cannot personally attest to any such damage caused by my worker, but am more than willing to take responsibility if it shown to be a result of our actions. I called on a Thursday and they arrived the next Tuesday. They were early so they just climbed on the roof and started cleaning. When I asked about the gutter over our lanai, they showed me the bag of dirt that came out of that gutter. Judging by the bag it was obvious they had never been that clean in years! They had tools that looked perfect for the job. I felt they were nice guys who did a professional job. I will definately use them again! I wrote them a check and they were off!
Description of Work: They cleaned all of our gutters and used special tools to dig/blow out the muck. They showed me all the dirt that they bagged up, and raked up the leaves that they blew out.

The job went well. Do be aware that they are very busy and we waited 2+ weeks to get them scheduled after they gave us the quote. They were able to quote fast, but they are booked for installation. They called and emailed the day before installation to let us know what time they would arrive which was very nice and appreciated. We really liked that the quote was very precise. Compared to other companies we contacted for quotes Gutter Man was much more professional and clearly wrote out what was expected and what would be delivered. The company arrived on time and the gutters look great. We have not had a typical Florida drenching yet, so I cannot report how well they perform, but if there are any issues, I will update my review. As of right now, we're thrilled. We especially like that our gutters are seamless and we feared the 7" gutters would look too big, but they are perfectly sized (obviously this is the size the house should have had all along). We would hire this company again.
Description of Work: We just purchased this house and its gutters were old, some were falling off and were inadequate for the size of the home and the amount of water pouring off of the roof. We had one gutter that was not level and the low end was allowing water to pool and run down the side of our house which led to water damage on our wall. Gutter Man of Tampa Bay recommended that we go to 7" gutters, and add stop plates to move water down the gutters. We also had them put up new gutters where there had not been gutters before to give our house a cleaner look in the front and less erosion about our front flower beds. They also repaired a gutter along our lanai and installed 7" gutters outside our back door.

He was very prompt in coming out to give the estimate. He drew a diagram to show where I wanted the downspout to be put in. However, it took a while for them to come out and do the work. When they did put the downspout extension it was running right over top of a plant and did not match the diagrams. They came out to fix it but it took a while for them to come back out. I would not recommend them.

Representative showed me color samples for gutters and downspouts. Appointment was scheduled for the following week. Installers were on time and courteous. Work was completed and the job was 100% professional. My only criticism is that I found 3 leftover sharp shards of aluminum that had been snipped off during installation. Would have been dangerous to my dog or my lawnmower had I not spotted them first.

After finding The Gutter Man on Angie's List, I called and was quoted a price of gutter cleaning (based on square footage of house), and within a couple days someone came out and did a great job for the price quoted. Gutter Man installed approximately 94 feet of 6-inch gutters and 3 down spouts along the front of our house and along the back. The job included removing and disposing of the old gutters/downspouts. Part of the replacement was due to problematic draining along the flat roof screened in porch. Heavy rains would overtop our exising gutter, and spill over tremendous amounts of water. Gutter Man's initial installation was done timely and the site was left clean. However, upon the first heavy rain, we noticed that our spill-over problem still existed, even though our gutter size was increased. We called Gutter Man and explained the problem, and further explained that we needed the problem addressed before the exterior of the house was painted. Gutter Man sent a crew out approximately a week after the initial call (and prior to our scheduled painting). The crew verified that the gutters were not draining properly, and adjusted the slope of that particular run of gutter. After the adjustment, the gutters are functioning properly.

He cleaned up after himself. He didn't leave anything in my yard. He put it all in garbage bags and took it. He was able to clean the gutters without impacting the rest of my yard, and the gutters were definitely full. He was very nice. He worked quickly. It was pretty inexpensive. He also cleaned the front of the gutters; most of them just clean the inside. It was total service. I have actually recommended him, and my sister uses him too now.

Gutterman has been cleaning my gutters for 4 years and they do a very good job. They have also done extra work (running underground drainage for my gutters) that I have mixed feelings on, but I would recommend their general gutter cleaning.

The price was fair. The salesperson that I talked to was very knowledgeable. He explained everything very well. He made some suggestions that I hadn’t thought about. I am happy with the job that they did. The salesperson was very friendly and the guys who came out did a good job. They were cordial and polite, but not friendly. I would use them again.
Description of Work: The Gutter Man Of Tampa Bay LLC did all the gutters around the entire house about two weeks ago.

It was fine; it was good. We had used them previously to clean our gutters so we already had an established rapport with them. They are reliable and dependable. They come when they are supposed to and they arrive when they are supposed to. They didn't leave any debris. They come, they do the job and they leave. Mission accomplished. We didn’t have any complaints.
Description of Work: We used The Gutter Man Of Tampa Bay to cut off the bottom of a gutter and put out a 4 foot extension.
