+ -1 morePlumber arrived when expected. He fixed the hot water heater, which was why I called. When he was here I asked if he had time to fix a problem by my side door. He said he could and he did. When I was going to write him a check, he reminded me that I had a coupon. I would have forgotten. I really appreciated the work he did and I would recommend this company and I would use them again.
Description of Work: Repaired hot water heater and got hot water for us. He also repaired a leak on a outside area of plumbing (it was possibly for a water softener).

+ -1 moreJoseph then toiled to cut the wall and reinstall new copper tubing. He finished in about 2.5 hours from start to finish. He also cleaned up the entire mess in the utility room. I then began to vacuum to draw out the water. Unbelievable the amount of water. I believe his CRAFTMANSHIP, a dying quality in America was what saved me not only the cost of a leak detecting company but also the replacement of my hard wood floors. I do want to say that American Homeshield, at each of my eight calls, were patient and responsive. They just did not pick a winner. I will ONLY use R Carr Plumbing and I will ALWAYS ask for Joseph.
Description of Work: R. Carr Plumbing investigated source of leak that another company, sourced by American Homeshield's Warrantee program, did not discover. There was water in our utility room and this water was also coming out into the garage through a common wall. The first plumbing company sent out a person who indicated that the source of the leak was from a defaulty hose connected to the washer. That did not make sense to me because the hose was just dripping at a very slow pace. The first company checked the water meter and stated that it was not showing any water movement. Then the thought was that it was due to the air conditioning. My instinct told me that this had to be a leak, so at my own expense, I checked Angie's list and looked for the company that had the highest approval percentage. That was R Carr Plumbing. I called them at 3:10 pm and asked them if they had emergency service. They said that they would send some one out ASAP. That person was Joseph Hebb. He used common sense and I could tell he was a craftsman. He went under the sink and put his EAR next to the hold and cold valves. Joseph heard a noise on the cold side. He then went to the water meter and turned the water off and came back to listen to the cold valve again. He heard nothing. That proved there was a leak! We then walked back into the utility room and I kicked the bottom of the cabinet to show him how I thought the leak was from the sink area. Immediately, water began to come out from under the vinyl tile. Joseph then recommended to cut into the wall so that he could see the hot and cold tubing. Bingo. A fine leak was just gusting out from the cold copper tubing. I filmed a video with my camera.

Description of Work: Fantastic service. I called at 9:00 a.m. regarding a clogged bathtub drain and asked to also have someone take a look at a water softener in our newly purchased home. They had two service people at our home before 12:00 p.m. the same day. They had the drain fixed within an hour and provided instructions on how to use the water softner and confirmed that it was in good working condition. The service call for the water softener was $54.00.

+ 2 moreI tried to tighten a backflow check valve on the external hose spigget that was leaking. I had no idea that there was a permenant set screw in that check valve that made it impossible to tighten or loosen. It was leaking whenever I turned the water on to a reel of water hose that I had nearby. If I forgot to turn the water supply off to the hose, the wasted water amounted to a lot. I had forgotten to turn the water off one too many times and my wife asked me to please just fix the leak. I attempted to tighten that check valve and when I torqued on the fitting with a large pair of channel lock pliers, I snapped the 1/2 inch copper pipe that the water spigget was attached to. Needless to say I got soaked. Hurriedly I turned the water off to the house and called R. Carr Plumbing. And thanks again to this company for answering the call to duty. An hour and a half after I called they were on the job and in under 3 hours from the time I broke the pipe, it was repaired and back to normal. I have used R. Carr Plumbing before with similar results. Professional, courteous and spot on with service. I highly recommend this contractor to anyone in need of plumbing work. They are reasonable and very responsive to their customer's needs. Thanks R. Carr... you do it right the first time!

I called R Carr Plumbing and after a couple questions, they were able to give me a quote over the telephone. They also said they would be able to come out and complete the work the same day. I liked that. That very afternoon we had a brand new water heater installed. I was very impressed by their Professionalism and Responsiveness. My husband especially liked that they had permits, and that they scheduled the city plumbing inspection after asking what day would be the most convenient for us to have it done. All in all I was very impressed. GREAT job R Carr Plumbing!!!!!!

+ -1 moreLeft call on Sunday evening (non-emergency) and received callback early Monday morning. He was out by 10:00 AM! He had to dig water-filled holes and make openings into basement walls to find leak source. Decided best to just replace the main from the street to the house since the existing pipe was old. I agreed readily. (Note: This isn't as big a deal as it may sound like in Florida.) He called for help and they dug a channel to place the new pipe and had it working in a few hours. Testing revealed leaks which they readily fixed without extra charges. -- Two weeks later the pipe appeared to be leaking from the street side. They came out, dug it up, and found that the city water bib was broken which wasn't their problem. I called the city and they fixed their pipe, so Carr's actually troubleshot the city's problem and they haven't even billed me for the additional work (yet).
Description of Work: Substantial leak where water supply comes into house; ground outside saturated with running water and water leaking into house.

With the weekend coming up we knew if we didn't get it taken care of on Friday, chances were that it would be Monday and we would be without hot water over the weekend. When we spoke with Carr Plumbing they had a serviceman come out within 2 hours to verify the problem and they came back later that same day with a new hot water heater. It was installed by 4:00 pm that same day.

+ 0 moreWhen I called Carr Plumbing early on Thursday morning (around 8am) I spoke with Jan. I told her my problem, and she gave me an estimate over the phone on what it would cost to replace my hot water heater. She said that someone could be at my house early afternoon. The tech would have the water tank with him, replace my old one and haul it away. This was really good news as I was scheduled to leave Friday morning to attend my son's Army graduation in TX!! I scheduled the service call and she said when the tech was ready to come to my house she would give a call. Jan called me back around noon and told me the tech would be there by 2pm. Right on schedule and a few minutes early Rob (I believe that was his name) showed up and immediately got to work. He was very nice, and answered all questions when I had any. I would say from start to finish he was here about an hour and 15 mintues. So by 3pm the very same day, I had a new tank, and hot water! The new tank btw, is the same brand that I originally had, a Rheem, (Ruud) 50 gallon.
Description of Work: Woke up to find my hot water tank leaking all over the garage. I called two plumbers from here on Angie's List. Both gave me similar quotes. Carr was a tad bit higher, but the reason I went with them was because they said they would come out and have the water tank with them. The other company said they would come out and give me a free estimate and then if I needed a new water tank they would go get it and then come back. Since I had travel plans scheduled the following morning, I wanted to get this taken care of as soon as possible. So I went ahead and scheduled the call with R. Carr. This hot water tank is the original one in the house! We had the house built in 1993 so I think we got our use out of it!

+ -1 moreI called R Carr for an estimate and received a written estimate in the mail within a few days. I had sought 2 estimates, but the other company never responded despite assurances to the contrary. I scheduled a service date with R Carr and they were at my home on time. Two very nice gentleman showed up and began the hard task of digging the 45 foot trench and replacing the old steel pipe. I was impressed that they carefully removed the sod and placed all the dirt on a plastic sheet - preserving my front lawn. R Carr had pulled a city permit and on the next day the inspector approved the work. Joe, one of the two that had done the initial work, came back the following day and filled the trench in and did a great job of cleaning up. Joe was great and, based on this experience, if I need a plumber - I will call R Carr.

It was complete stopped up again just before Christmas. They came out and completely cleaned the drain, and did not charge me for the second time. It has been running great now! + -1 moreNice company to deal with. Prompt and friendly. Came out and saw problem. Since faucet still under warranty, I was able to order from the manf a replacement at no charge. They said dont worry about payment now, call us when part arrives and we'll come back out to replace it. And pay at that time. That was nice there was no double charge, however, they charge $98/hr, which is higher than other plumbers. Quality work though and quick to respond. Will use for emergencies, but not necessarily for scheduled projects. (I just ordered water heater from another company, and saved a significant amt, but that was a planned call, not emergency...it paid to shop around).

The old was repairable and they only charged me $115 since the labor was not that bad and the piece needing replacement was there in his truck. I am pleased, once again, with R Carr's service!
