+ -1 moreThe shower valve handle broke, making the shower inoperable. The receptionist was most helpful, scheduling an appointment at a time convenient to me. John called before coming and arrived promptly. He examined the valve and explained the the cartridge was broken. He made every conceivable effort to locate a cartridge that would work with the existing valve to avoid replacing the entire valve structure, but none could be found. He replaced the entire valve structure with a new one, ensured that it worked perfectly. He did work efficiently, avoiding any damage to the tile around the valve. When he left, the shower area was spotless. John was very pleasant and professional. We definitely will use this company again, if there is a plumbing problem.

+ -1 morejust purchased a house and on our house inspection there were a few small issues with the plumbing. i called the company yesterday and asked if they had any openings the next day and luckiky they did. they were actually early when the got here. i showed him my house inspection to give him an idea of what my concerns were and he also did a very thorough inspection himself on every part of the plumbing. He quickly figured out what was causing the problems and went to work fixing them. he finished the job promptly and afterwards gave me some advice on other small maintenance issues. Not only was he very knowledgable but very personable and polite as well. it was going to be $300 but thanks to the angie's list coupon it was $280. this was money well spent. would recommend them to anyone needing a plumber.

Joe's quote for the water heater replacement was in line with other estimates and actually a bit lower, but to deal with a person and company of this caliber is beyond price. If you need plumbing repairs in PSL don't miss getting to know Joe Duran. Service of this quality is a rare find in Florida!
Description of Work: Joe Durran came to estimate on the replacement cost of a water heater at a home we were in process of buying. Joe found indications that the house had been re-plumbed and offered to do a little more thorough inspection. He climbed into the rafters to confirm his suspicions. Inside the house he pointed out evidence of flooding and numerous walls and cabinets that had been opened for repairs and re-plumb and closed up in a shoddy fashion. He indicated that the workmanship was sloppy and done in an effort to keep costs to a minimum. He then suggested that the plumbing repairs had probabkly been done without a permit. At his suggestion, we researched and found that the seller had indeed done major repairs to the property without a building permit and had knowingly withheld disclosure of said repairs. Our attorney threatened to sue for fraud and the seller quickly cancelled the contract and instructed escrow that our deposit be refunded. We are gratefule to Joe Duran. His sharp eyes found serious defects that were completely overlooked by the licensed home inspeciton service we had hired. Had it not been for Joe's professinalism and concern for our well-being, even though he knew he wouldn't make any money as a result, saved us from a costly mistake that would have resulted in multiple insurance claims.

+ -1 moreOn 4/10/12, I contacted First Choice to make an appointment and was able to set up one for 4/11/12 between 1 and 2pm. The plumber, John Fitzpatrick, arrived early at 12:45pm as he was running ahead of schedule. All services were provided in a professional and prompt manner. Regarding price, I had previously reviewed Moen faucet choices available at Home Depot and Lowes, however, First Choice offered different models as Moen apparently does not provide the same models to retail stores as they supply to their commercial customers. After considering everything, it was my impression that First Choice's prices for these faucets was high compared to the ones I had seen but I admit that I am comparing apples to oranges. I was provided with a $20 discount after mentioning that I had called after reading a review on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Replaced kitchen faucet with a new Moen. Replaced laundry room faucet with a new Moen. Replaced summer kitchen faucet with customer-provided new Moen.

+ 0 moreTheir response time to the call for service was excellent. Plumber was professional, courteous, and excellent in performing the work. The gentlemen at Versitile Improvements had pointed out to me a possible issue with the water heater - I call First Choice (after consulting Angie's list) and they had someone out to evaluate the situation the next day. The Plumber explained to me the issue as he saw it and offered a couple of solutions - we decided for replacement. Set it up for next day. A bit later I received a call and was told they could come back and do the job that day. Replacement was completed that day and done in a very top notch manner, everything was fully explained to me and area cleaned up. The Plumber even offered, should any issue arise, to come back that night if needed. Friendly service and excellent work at a fair price.

+ 0 moreI found First Choice on Angie's list. Of the three with the most comments and highest ratings, they were the most local. Everything but the clogged drain were prior problems that weren't part of the original call request. One he noted and offered to repair, others I requested since he was there. I felt the price was reasonable for the amount of work. John showed up promptly (within the time frame which was remarkably soon), was very professional, and offered advice on future repairs and projects as well as ballpark estimates to assist future decision making. Because his day was not busy, he was able to give me additional time and take care of the little problems as I requested. While the total price was $379 (due to 4 separate repairs), the original clogged drain correction was $139 - which seemed reasonable based on prices for similar services at a variety of companies reviewed on Angie's list. All of the additional repairs also seemed reasonably priced based on the time each took. I would definitely use again and would recommend First Choice to friends and family.
Description of Work: John cleared the clogged drain after water backed up into the shower, sending a snake thru the pipe from the roof. He also noted an issue in the toilet and at my request, repaired/replaced the innards (complete rebuilds) of two toilets. Finally, he removed a broken (leaking) shower arm and installed a new one.

Since it was a 1970's mode it had to be replaced, and that meant that some holes had to be done to the wall. The company sent this guy named Brian, best plumber I had ever seen. The work was done quickly, professionally an it looks perfect. Will definitely hire this company again!!

+ 0 moreThey were excellent. They had someone out here within about two hours of my call and it was the owners that showed up. It did not take them long at all and they were here on time. This morning, Matt said he would come between 10:00 and 11:00; he was here at 10:00 and he was done by 1:00. They left everything clean and neat so you can’t even tell that they worked here. They were very friendly and neat in appearance. I could not be more happy and we actually handed out the card to our neighbors.
Description of Work: Neither one of our toilets were working and our hot water heater wasn’t working so we contacted First Choice Plumbing. They took care of those and they snaked the house. They even discovered a broken piece on one of the toilets that had been like that since the house was built.

+ -1 moreThis is an OMGer. The company sent John, who is a young, extremely cheerful, personable guy -- what a pleasure. John installed my new gas range and put the old one in the garage. Then John installed a new bathroom faucet, which turned out to be faulty. He was able to remove the handles of the faucet to find the faucet needed a new aerator. John found the part in his truck and made sure the faucet worked perfectly. Without him going the extra mile, I would have had to call Moen for a new faucet and then another installation fee (this was before John discovered the handles came off the faucet, which is unusual, and he was able to detect what the problem was). I also found out from John that this company does almost everything from kitchen renovations to tile repair -- all of which I need. Another great experience with Angie's List. Angie also had a $20 off coupon for this company -- what a deal.
Description of Work: New gas range installed. Bathroom faucet replaced.

He examined the project and discussed the situation and got to work at once. He was done and gone, including cleanup, in just over an hour. The price was a quoted. I must add that I saved money vs the big box home repair store. I also contacted another Angie's list plumber and got no where with them-worst service, a complete waste of time.

+ 0 moreThey did an excellent job. They came out on a Sunday when I called them for checking the water heater. I had thought that the water heater was leaking but it was just close to my washer. I give them the highest ratings across the board.
Description of Work: First Choice Plumbing Solutions fixed a couple of toilets and a sink. They replaced the inside of the toilets and the sink hose. I had two washer hoses installed so that I didn't have to worry about them. They also found out that the valve on my outside main water line was leaking and fixed it. They had checked my water heater in the garage on another visit.

+ -1 moreI had been watching the plumbing outside at the gas meter and observed serious corrosion at the point of entry to the wall. When I detected gas leaking I searched for a plumber. We coordinated with The Florida Gas Company to cap the gas at the entry point of the meter. The plumber cut out the interior wall cleanly so patching was easy. He replaced all the necessary plumbing and we called the gas co. to remove the cap and we tested it and found no leaks. He then lit the pilot on the water heater and tested it for proper operation. He was excellent.
Description of Work: Replaced Gas plumbing from the meter through exterior wall to non corroded area.

+ -1 moreCompany was selected from list of almost 70 plumbers, based on their ratings from previous customers. It was an excellent choice in all respects. Arriving a few minutes early, the serviceman presented a clear explanation of the work necessary to relocate the waste pipe. After receiving a very fair estimate, the job was expanded to include the total installation of the new vanity. The job was top-notch in every respect, and I would not hesitate to use this firm again.
Description of Work: Relocated the waste water pipe to accomodate a new vanity installation. While here, quoted and performed the remaining work necessary to totally install the vanity, ie: faucet hookup, drain hookup, vanity positioning, pipe ingress into the vanity. Was very professional. Arrived on time, offered a quote, performed a difficult relocation, and went beyond the expected to perform the total vanity hookup.

He then checked the dishwasher which was not draining, he told me it was not the plumbing but the dishwasher was broken. He checked the water heater and the sink in garage and noticed the sink was leaking. He brought back a new toilet and fixed the sink. He worked efficiently and quickly and came when he said he would.
