Description of Work: They added Freon to an AC unit that was not cooling. They told me that there was a leak and that the unit would need to be replaced. The Freon leaked out again within two days. I called another service provider to get a second opinion. He found the leak, fixed it and the unit has has run successfully for more than three months at this point. The second service provider informed me that many of the technicians in the AC industry do not have the skill to truly service units. Their "solution" is to sell a replacement system. While I am not claiming that this company falls into that category, the empirical evidence seems to indicate such. | |I would not use them again.

Description of Work: Performed a check up on our air conditioner, cleaned coils, drain pan and tubes. Max was personable and professional. Will definitely use Grossman Air for our air conditioning needs in the future. Didn't try to "upsale" us on any services or products.

Description of Work: The technician came a few hours after I called and inspected our central air system, changed filters, fixed noisy outside fan issue and explained the system to us.(we are new owners of an older home.) Philip did a wonderful job of explaining everything to us. He was very professional and knowledgable. We will definitely use them again.

Description of Work: Very responsive. Got here on Friday afternoon when I called them Friday around lunchtime.$73 for the initial inspection/diagnosis. Very thorough. Turned out that the motor in the air handler was burnt out. Motor was special ordered, and it came in beginning of following week. Motor was replaced, but continued to circulate hot air. Supervisor came out the next morning, and as it turns out, the guy who built the house (who also used to own an a/c business) had done some jerry-riggin. Supervisor was able to identify the issue and fix it quickly. Sucks to have to pay that amount of money, but the a/c is working great now. Would definitely use this company again, and I have already recommended them to a friend.

Description of Work: I'm a new Condo owner. They checked out my AC, tuned it up, explained to me how to efficiently run my system. Something came undone when they pulled the thermostat off the wall to check it, and it would not work when reinstalled. Wound up giving me a brand new upgraded thermostat for free.

Description of Work: Installation of a complete central air conditioning system, including a three ton Rheem air conditioner and the air handler and a new digital thermostat and carted all the old equipment away for disposal. Then they completely cleaned up after themselves.

Description of Work: I had bought a pool heater 4 years ago which was now owned by the Hayward company. The heater failed to perform and I called Hayward for a approved serviceman. They gave me Grossmans AC. I called them and they came out immediately that day. After assessing the problem they informed me that Hayward would probably replace the whole unit under warantee, but that they would not cover the labor. This would come to $500. I told them if that was the case I probably would have to do without the heater as I could not afford that. They were very reassuring and told me that they offered payment plans, but not to get upset until they personally spoke with Hayward. After supplying them with a copy of my receipt, and warrantee papers, they called me within 45 minutes to tell me that Hayward would be sending the replacement and there would be no cost to me for installation! Imagine my surprize and relief! I was told it would take 4 weeks to receive the unit, but it came in 2 and Grossman came out promptly and reinstalled the unit. They were extremely professional and I would recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: During the past year or two we began having problems with our present A/C company wanting to schedule several visits to repair and service our two central units instead of doing the all required work at the time of the first visit... There would be a charge for a repair visit and then another charge for the semi-annual service visit already scheduled for a week later... The repair visit was not an emergency and could have easily been a part of the service visit... This has happened on more than one occasion so we were looking for a new a/c company... We were in need of replacing some or all of the ductwork (its an old house) and wanted to get three bids... Our current a/c company came in with the lowest cost bid and was a qualified contractor under the FPL program which gave us almost $300 in credits... Grossman was somewhat higher but unfortunately they are not considered qualified under the FPL program which would have negated the FPL credits... The third bid was for double the price of the other two companies... We had just signed up with Angie's LIst (what an asset you are) and checked to see the reviews of the different a/c companies in our area... Grossmans was listed with an A and had excellent reviews... The other company, although very large in the area was not listed at all... Our present company was listed as a F due in large part to the same problems we were having in booking multiple visits where one could have sufficed... Jeff Grossman and Chad responded to our original request for a repair estimate within a day of our first call... Originally, we thought we would only be repairing 3 of the ducts instead of the entire ductwork... They were very professional and very likeable... Chad went into the attic (not much room) and surveyed the entire system... They then came up with a proposal to replace the three ducts that had been eaten away by squirrels building nests in the attic... The proposal seemed quite reasonable... We then had a FPL representative come out to evaluate our system and he advised that we repalce the entire system... We then called Jeff and he came back out and once again went into the attic to prepare a bid to do the entire replacement... We asked Jeff about the FPL discount program and he was very honest and said they did not belong to the program (I forget why) and would not therefore qualify for the FPL discounts... He asked fairly that we compare his estimate with other companies that simply raised their estimates in order to give the customer the discounts which we found was apparently the case with the one company we had bid the job... We tried very hard to give Jeff the work and called to ask that the bid he gave us be itemized (the bid came in as a single figure and was not itemized) so that we could be sure that both companies were bidding on doing exactly the same work... The bids were not that far apart... Unfortunately this is the busy season for A/C companies and we never received the itemized bid so we went ahead and used our original company for the ductwork... It appears that they did the ductwork satisfactorily but did leave a bit of a mess from the blown in insulation that fell from the attic onto the beds... Also, they did not even bring a vaccum cleaner with them and I had to give them ours or they would have simply used a broom and left the rest of the mess for us to clean up... Since this crew does this every day, I didn't quite get that part... Anyway, now that the ductwork is done, we will definitely be using Jeff and Chad for our semi-annual check-ups and future repair work... If you are needing work or want to change your present A/C company, I suggest that you give them a call...

Description of Work: Swimming pool heat pump stopped working after 3 years. Grossmann Air Condition replaced the unit under warrrenty. New unit had a problem after a year. They came out and fixed it under the warrenty.

Description of Work: I had a written estimate completed for the installation of a complete new air conditioning system in my home. I also chose this company to install my new a/c system. The completed proposal was very professional and the owner, Jeff, was very knowledgable and took the time to explain everything to me. I felt that out of all the estimates and technicians I had met, Jeff was the most knowledgable and trustworthy. He was very honest. He is the only one who knew how to fix my issue of being too cold when the air ran and within a minute or two, feeling too hot when I shut it off. He conducted a very thorough inspection of what I had and gave me an accurate price. There were no surprises! Even when they had to take a lot of extra time to install the air handler, I was not charged a penny extra!
