Jeff and Paula Grossmann have been living and working in Florida’s Heartland, the scenic Treasure coast, for 35 years. Backed by five full years of local apprenticeship training and over 50 years of combined experience, they are pleased to offer professional air conditioning and heating service. Grossmann Air Conditioning has “cared for your air” on the Treasure Coast for 30 years. They take serving their customer’s needs seriously and have completed various trainings, been certified as FPL contractors, and are licensed and insured. They did an excellent installation, gave me a reasonable rate, and it was a pleasure to work with this company; from the owner, to the office staff, and even the installers. They are very through, and it is such a relief after having a bad experience with the last company I hired to do this same job. I highly recommend this vendor!

Not only did they charge us for the wire repair, which we probably didn't even need, but had the audacity to charge us again when they came out to fix their mistake. We couldn't believe the lack of customer service and professionalism we were having to deal with. The dispatcher that I spoke with over the phone during this whole mess was blatantly rude. He told me that I was lucky that we were going to get service at all because they had so many calls for repairs, and they were short staffed. Then to top it off, we ordered 6 filters for our air conditioner. The repairman said we'd have them in a couple of days, and they would deliver them to the house. We've yet to see them. That was over a month ago. What a nightmare! I will be using another AC company for future issues!
Description of Work: We've been loyal customers for approximately 5 years, and I've never had an issue with them until this awful experience. After reaching out to them when our air conditioner wasn't working, they made us wait three days before someone came out to repair it. When the repairman finally came, he said it was an electrical issue with a fuse/wire. He said that he corrected the problem, and left. After an hour went by, our home was still not cooling down. I called them right away to report that there was an issue, and asked if they could return to fix the problem. They made us wait another 24 hours before they came to fix it. The same repairman came around 6 pm the following day. He cleaned out the pipe on the outside of our home, which seemed to correct the issue. That was obviously the problem! I don't believe it had anything to do with a fuse/wire. The air conditioner was always running, the air simply wasn't cool.

Appointment was for 1 pm. I called 1:15 on what was happening. Couldn't reach me. They had transposed phone number to 260 rather than the 206 that I had given. Man came at 2 pm. Told him unit was probably installed in 1977 but used very rarely by snowbirds. Objected to loud booming sound of air handler. He proposed changing capacitator making fan turn faster. I wanted to ask him if the motor is already running too hot won't that make it run even hotter? I said I had asked for an estimate for a new a/c. But I wanted to know how much electricity my unit was pulling and how much watts a new unit would pull so I could compare. Getting an answer to this was a problem. He talked of SEERS. I said a unit this old might be 9, 8 or 6 so can't you read the electrical usage now with a meter? He went to his car and apparently talked to HQ. Came back and said he believed he cannot satisfy me so he'll pass on the estimate, and left. He left the insulation for the air handler on the floor and the cover board that needs to be screwed in also on the floor. I've had two good experiences with two other contractors who wrote up a price. Plan to call one more and then decide where to buy. PS I had to check everything C. If I hadn't checked "Price" for example, I wouldn't be permitted to continue. there was no price.

Early Saturday morning I awoke to a very loud noise coming from outside. I went outside, following where the noise was coming from, to find that my A/C was the culprit. It sounded like a chopper that was ready to take off! I immediately called Grossman & spoke to Paula (the owner). She assured me that someone would be out shortly to work on the problem. They did come within the hour and accessed the problem. One of the blades on the motor fan was cracked causing it to be unbalanced. A temporary motor fan was installed so I wouldn't be without A/C while I waited for the repair of my older fan. The weather temps were very low for the next week which prevented Grossman from finishing the job. To get a proper read on the gauges, the temperature should be above or close to 80 degrees. I completely understood the delay and didn't mind since I wasn't without A/C. Grossman called me periodically to see if I was okay and assured me that they didn't forget me. Well, within two weeks they came & finished the motor fan. During this they noticed a "hissing" coming from one of the coils....on top of the motor fan, I also had a small refrigerant leak. They immediately repaired the leak & recharged the system. Given the fact that my A/C is 10 yrs old, I know that in time I will have to replace it with a new one. But Grossman has been incredible and I am completely pleased with their service. They are reliable, they tell their customers exactly what to expect, their prices are reasonable and in my opinion they are trustworthy. When the time comes for me to replace my A/C unit, Grossman will be the company I will turn to, to get it done!

We had been away on vacation for awhile and when we returned the A/C was frozen--full of ice. I did my own trouble shooting and knew the blower motor wasn't working. I was pretty sure the starting capacitor was bad. I called Grossman's A/C and was promised a technician that same day. Joe and Jeff(the owner) showed up when promised and listen to me-- which seems to be unusual in today's time. They did a complete check of my old system and did find the capacitor bad. They replaced the bad part and I also asked them for an estimate for replacing A/C unit. It's quite old. I'm very pleased with their attitudes, professionalism and knowledge.
Description of Work: Jeff and Joe from Grossman's replaced a part for my A/C blower. They also answered many questions I asked and did it without getting upset with me.

I knew my 12 year old AC system was on the way out, but when I called them because my house felt humid, Grossman found 4 leaks in the Freon, on both inside and out. WE had in the past had to replace freon with another company and we had a feeling this was it. Choosing an AC system is difficult. Different numbers are given meaning different things, and not everyone really knows what they mean. FPL is not a lot of help. Sizes needed are given differently by different company. With all the questions I had, Grossmans excelled in answering them all to my satisfaction. They had no problem being questioned. They gave me choices to make my own decision. They back up their answers with facts. They came out and gave me an estimate and info regarding any financing I might need. They promptly set up an appointment and were there when they said. All work was professional completed and while I bought them bagels, donuts and coffee, they did not eat or even use my bathroom. They were totally professional! Mr. Grossman spoke personlally with me for 20 minutes answering my questions patiently. I cannot say enough about this company. A/C stopped blowing cold air last evening after being off for a few days. It had worked just fine when used last but last night -- nothing but room temperature air blowing out of the vents. Called first thing this morning. Mrs. Grossmann said he would be out late this afternoon. Around 3:30 she called back saying he got hung up at another customer's but would still be there today. John came around 5:00 p.m. Checked it out -- turned out to be a simple fix. A wire had burned out on the compressor. He had the part to repair it on his truck and it was fixed within 30 minutes. He also checked over the system, checked the Freon levels and changed the filer in the air handler. He was courteous, friendly, and made sure I knew my options going forward (older unit). Thank you!

I was impressed with the manner in which I was treated by all of the people I dealt with (like family). Their estimate was not the lowest but well within reason and not worth haggling over and as it turned out were actually more than worth the price. The tech not only promptly diagnosed the problem but also found another issue left by another contractor. He promised someone would get back to me with an estimate to make the repairs and then recharged the Freon before leaving so we could cool the house. Within an hour the owner called with an estimate and assured me the job could be done the next day. I accepted and first thing the next morning two trucks and three men arrived. They made the repairs and were very neat and quiet. ALSO, I had mentioned I would like my pool heater serviced and they did so at no charge. At this point my AC works better than ever and we could not be more satisfied!!! I would not hesitate to recommend Grossman AC and would not even consider another company in the future.
Description of Work: The service tech responded the same day to diagnose the problem. He found the evaporator to be leaking Freon and not able to be repaired. He recharged the system until the new evaporator could be located for replacement. The evaporator was replaced the very next day.

Serviceman Dan came to our home on 10/30 to evaluate the problem of no air conditioning in part of our house. He was very polite and helpful. He found that the under warranty motor had burned out and that one humidistat was out of calibration. A new motor was ordered (no charge to us) and he came back and installed the new motor and humidistat on 11/1. He is very helpful and pleasant explaining how the humidistat should be set etc.

I called this company on Monday, 10/21/13 in the morning and scheduled a 3pm appointment to have a someone come to my home to check my pool heater which was not operating well. I found them on angies list and based on that I made the appointment. I travel regularly and indicated that I would be gone until next week and .....needed to have someone come out this week....... They told me that it was a $100 fee to come out and check it. so, I agreed to the fee and appointement. Today, 10/23 Wednesday at 1:30pm I called to confirm my appointment with the company, b/c I had to travel 50 minutes to get to the home. When I called I spoke with the office manager who told me that the appointment had to be rescheduled because they had other people who's air conditioning wasn't working and so they were priority ahead of me and I would have to reschedule maybe for next Tuesday. I asked to speak with the owner Mr. Grossman, but he was not available to speak with until next week. I told Gayle, the office manager that I had a set appointment to pay $100 and my time was valueable and I worked my day around the appointment .....as a paying customer, my appointment should not be cancelled because of other customers, who at the last minute, had a/c problems. She apologized but said that is their policy. As a future customer, I would not used them in the future .....who would make an appointment, set their time aside to be there to pay.....them $100 , then not even get a call from them telling me my appointment was now second to others calling in after me and on the day of the appoint not even call me to notify me of the change. If I hadn't called them at 1:30....I would have driven 50 minutes to the house on my time ....in good will .... to pay them to follow through on a scheduled appointment. Despite telling Gayle all of the above.....she did nothing to provide service the day of the appointment.

My air conditioner was blowing hot air. I called Grossmann Air Conditioning on Tuesday and they offered to come out the same day. Since I was actually out of town I scheduled the visit for Wednesday but had to cancel to assist my son with a repair of his home. We rescheduled for Thursday. The serviceman (I apologize, I am terrible with names) arrived promptly and quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem. He installed a new capacitator and I was enjoying air conditioning again in no time! I would definitely use them again because of the professionalism of the serviceman (Dan?), promptness of the service and fairness of the price. I was very very pleased with the service I received from this company.

Came home around 5 pm to find that my A/C wasn't working. Given the fact that it was after "normal" business hrs & a Friday, I feared I would be stuck without A/C thru the weekend. I immediately checked Angie's List & found a list of companies in my area that also offered emergency repair service. I called 3 of them, including Grossman A/C Inc. Grossman returned my call within 30 mins. & had a serviceman at my house within the hour. Dan (the serviceman) went right to work. He immediately found the compressor wasn't operating due to a thermal overload & cooled it down. He replaced the weak dual run capacitor that was working on half it's needed specs. He then found a leak outside the TXV process stub feeder tube. He repaired the leak and recharged my A/C system, which was completely empty of freon. I was impressed at how quickly Dan was able to find & repair all that was wrong. He was very well organized and knowledgeable! My A/C was back up & running better than it ever worked before! I'd highly recommend Grossman for all your A/C needs!

Dan was very professional and quick. Allowed me to watch and observe while he inspected. Explained to me what happened, why and all the details of the unit that were important to the problem.
