Charlie, the mold detective, is as good as all the prior reviews. Charlie took samples from air (inside home and outdoors), walls and air condition ducts. Samples went to chemical testing lab. Charlie sent back extensive reports.

If you are looking for a straight shooter who is extremely nice to work with and knows mold call Charlie. He was great. He responded to my call immediately and came out right away. On the day of the appointment Charlie was prompt, he went through my home, pulled back carpets, poked holes in my walls looking for moisture, took pictures and mold samples and delivered the report within two days. He spent time educating me and you never felt like he was in a rush to move on to the next job even though he is busy and in high demand. He was really a wonderful person to work with and i would highly recommend him. What more could you ask for. I would call him again if I ever needed a mold detective.

The Mold Detective was professional, friendly and answered all my questions. It was reassuring to know he has no conflict of interest as he doesn't do mold remediation. He initially talked with me at length on the phone about my issue and then several months later I hired his services. He tested my bedroom for mold visually and with an air sample and provided a detailed report. Fortunately there were no mold spores in the air, but moisture was noted under the floor in one area near the outside wall which could lead to mold if not addressed. He helped me locate the probable source of the leak on the outside of the building. I used his report to have my condo to check the wall outside my bedroom and patch it up to stop the leak. He was also really nice to my chihuahua even though he stole his equipment and ran off with it when he was trying to work.

If every service provider in Miami were like Mold Detective, it would be a great city to live in. perhaps one of the best, if not the best, service provider of its kind. Cant say enought great things...just hire him in case you have any doubts on mold issues in your house.

We suspected we had a mold issue due to the results from our home inspection and there was one specific area in the kitchen that it was fairly clear there was something going on. We needed to move quickly on it as we wanted to move in as soon as possible. Charlie was able to fit me in to his schedule right away and that was a big help. Charlie is very personable and was very thorough in inspecting the house for any mold issues and/or water damage. I really appreciated the time and care he took to fully inspect potential problem areas. He was able to get the results and detailed report back to me the following afternoon and I thought this was fantastic speed of service. Charlie was very open to any questions I had and always replied very quickly. After the mold remediation work was carried out I had Charlie return to do the re-test to make sure we had the all clear. Again he was very punctual and when I made it clear that time was of the essence he got the results back to me even quicker than the first time (the reports came later, which was completely ok, I just needed the answer on the tests to move forward). I am very happy with the testing work Charlie carried out and would strongly recommend using him if you think you have a mold issue.

Charles called within 20 minutes of my initial contact thru Angie's List on the Monday before Christmas. He completed the inspection the day after Christmas and we had the lab report within 24 hrs of the inspection. The reports were complete, professional and thorough. I can't say enough good things about the service, professionalism, etc.

My wife and I came back to FL after several months away, to find that our house was infested with mold. We've had Charlie (Calcagni) out four times to test the air and selected surfaces as the mold remediation progressed (problem is now over, thank goodness). Charlie inspires confidence, and is an interesting person to talk to. Our mold remediation guy has said that his prices are well below most competitors. The c. $500 mentioned above was for 2 of Charlie's visits, the other two being paid for by the mold remediation company. Basically, Charlie charges a certain amount for his work, and most of the bill goes to cover lab costs (usually $75 per sample, e.g. air sample or tape from a piece of furniture). He is very conscientious, and clearly realizes how disturbing mold issues can be for the people who hire him. His final report to us was sent from a cruise ship; he had begun a vacation, but forwarded us the results as soon as he received them from the lab. Strongly recommend.

Charlie was extremely knowledgeable and courteous during my inspection. I explained that I had a very small time window to perform the inspection and he was extremely accommodating. His prices were very competitive, but there was no sacrifice when it came to great service! He took his time performing a thorough inspection of the home and even pointed out some trouble areas that i hadn't noticed before. It's nice to see honest, reputable, professional, experienced well priced contractors still exist...I would definitely recommend him to anyone that is looking for a mold inspection.
