I found Charlie on Angie's list and was impressed with how many great reports he had received. I called him and he immediately returned my message and schedule an appointment at the first mutually convenient time. He was extremely punctual. He explained the mold process to us in general as it related to potential water damage to our floors. He was very thorough and inspected all the necessary areas. We greatly appreciated that he advised where we might have a potential issue and where he thought we were ok. The report was ready in just a few days and he called us in advance of sending to review in detail. He was very reasonable in his price for the work and expertise. Most importantly, he was a pleasure to work with and very trustworthy. He also referred us to a mold remidiation company who was excellent. We did not have to use the remidiation, but would have used Charlie's referral is necessary. I would absolutely recommend the Mold Detective!

I had water intrusion on a wall in my home coming in from the outside of the building and suspected mold. I called Charlie Galvagni, "Mold Detective" for an appointment to assess the situation. Charlie took an outside and inside air quality samples and a wall surface sample, in addition he used a moisture meter to detect if there was still an active leak. He also checked other walls in my home to see if there was any moisuture or signs of previous water intrusion.He took the samples to the lab and I had my results the next day...as I suspected there was black mold(the toxic kind) on my wall. The air samples were pretty normal with very minute signs of the dangerous mold so it was not yet airborne...but if they had ripped out my drywall without completely sealing the area it would have been airborne and would have gotten into my A/C furniture,clothing my lungs,etc. I am now in the process of getting qoutes from mold remediators to get rid of it asap. After the work is done I will have Charlie come back to do another test to make sure it is definitely gone and not airborne. I highly recommend Charlie for not only mold detection services..he is also a certified home inspector. I am a Realtor and have called on Charlie to do many home inspections for my buyers and they have all been very satisfied with his work. Charlie is very knowledgeable,professional,honest,pleasant, communicates well and is reliable...what more could you possibly ask for?

Charlie Galvagni, the owner of Mold Detective a/k/a/ Melanda Inc., responded promptly to my call regarding a potential mold problem. He arrived the next day, took air and surface samples and did visual inspections along with testing the relevant areas in the kitchen and bathroom for moisture. He also tested the walls in the hallway of our condo. Charlie sent the samples to the lab and the results were returned within a matter of days with a complete report from Mold Detective. All of the foregoing was done for what I regarded as a very fair and reasonable price. Charlie was responsive, reliable, professional, friendly, answered all questions, and he was empathetic to the unpleasant situation which we confronted. He also referred us to a mold remediation service which we retained to remove and remediate the mold problem (the remediation process involved partial demolition of both our kitchen and second bathroom). I rate Mold Detective and Charlie Galvagni A+ in all categories. While I hope I never need such services again, if I do, I know who to call.

He came out the same day I called. He explained to me the ins and outs of mold and how it affects our house. He spent a lot of time educating me, and he did the testing that needed to be done for insurance purposes. He made himself available to me by phone; his customer service is outstanding. He was a lot lower in price than a lot of other estimates I received. He doesn't do mold remediation, but he recommended someone for that, who happens to be on Angie's List.

Charlie came to our house to research a mold issue that we found, he was amazingly punctual and courtious with both my husband, my children and me. We contacted Charlie at many different times, sometimes off business hours and he would always pick up the phone, email back or come right over. He really is a good person with a desire to help homeowners in stressful situations to put their homes back together.

This was a great experience in what could have been a very frustrating time. We had a short window to get a mold inspection done due to the home inspector taking longer than planned to get us his report, which included a recommendation to get a mold inspection on the house we are buying. Mr. Galvagni was very helpful, explained everything in detail, got to the house the day I called in order to get the samples to the lab for testing, and my realtor said the report was one of the best layouts and easiest to understand she's seen. All this with a discount due to being an Angie's List customer. We're moving on with our closing feeling very confident that our new home is safe for our growing family.

Mold is never pleasant, but dealing with the Mold Detective was.

Mr. Galvagni arrived at exactly on time. He performed a complete inspection of our Apartment,Charles was very professional The test was done on Friday and on Monday he called to give us a summery of the results,followed be a full report by E-Mail. My wife and I were totally pleased with MR. Galvagni's professionalism and thoroughness. will use him again if need be.

Thomas was punctual and accommodated my weekend schedule. He proceeded methodically from room to room checking for signs of moisture/ mold, explaining his procedures as he went, showing me the results and how he got them. He was very professional and personable; great to work with.

We called The Mold Detective because we thought we had a possible mold issue after part of our condo was flooded. Charlie arrived on time and was very professional and personable. He did a thorough inspection of our condo. He explained in detail what he was doing and since we needed samples taken, what the exact costs would be. He took his time and double-checked our areas of concern. He also took the time to explain the process to us and what our options were for water damage repairs or remediation. He promised us that the mold sample results would be in within two days and he would call us and explain results. He called and emailed us the results right on time and explained the report. Luckily for us, the mold sample results came in normal. We were extremely pleased with Charlie and would highly recommend him as he is very knowledgable and willing to go the extra mile for his clients and was a pleasure to work with.

Tom came out immediately after being called and tested our home for mold spores. As I was 6 months pregnant he rushed the results of our tests and was able to deliver our analysis very quickly. He made some suggestions as to what to do and also helped us by communicating with the Mold Remediation company we had chosen prior to contacting him. He did happen to know them as we found both of them by looking on Angie's List and chose the 2 best rated companies close to our home. Tom was an absolute pleasure to deal with and the fact that he was willing to help us by communicating with the remediation company was a huge time saver and help! Again, due to my advancing pregnancy, Tom did everything in his power to expedite our results both on the initial testing and again when we had him back to test after the work was done. We were so happy with Tom and his work that we sent him over to our Mother's house to test there as well as she will be helping take care of our new baby and also helps alot with our daughter. It put our mind at ease to know that Tom would be testing there as she has had a less than reputable mold testing company out previously. Thank you again Tom for your service and thank you for being so caring and such a sweet person in the process!!!

We had a toilet overflow from the second story to the first. Although we had a restoration company come and dry it out, we suspected there was mold due to sinus issues in family members. I called around and Mold Detective was the only company that could come the day I needed him to come and was very flexible about working around my schedule. My husband works at night and sleeps during the day, so I needed someone to come as late in the day as possible. He called to give me an hour's notice that he was on the way and arrived at the scheduled time. There was no pressure to take more samples than necessary and in fact he took fewer than we originally talked about. Tom is not an alarmist and we really appreciated that.

The reason I called him was that my husband and I always seemed to have nasal problems. While we were on vacation we did not have those problems. Therefore, we called Mold Detective to have the house tested. Tom discovered mold in 3 places in my home. He was selective about how many air and other samples to have tested so that I would not overpay. The results were presented to me on the phone and in written form. Tom helped me find a company to do the work and kept on top of the contractor, even though I had already paid him for his services. He called from time to time to see how the work was going and then rechecked the 3 areas after the mold was removed but before the walls and ceilings were replaced. Tom gave us a sense of security that he would make sure no corners were cut and that the work would be completed perfectly or he would not sign off on it.

I really like Thomas' work ethic. He was punctual and didn't try to rush in and out like a lot of service providers do. I felt the price was reasonable for the work performed. He brought all the necessary equipment including a thermal imaging device and moisture meter. He spent A LOT of time at my home investigating the area and coming to a determination about the cause and remediation. It was obvious that not only was he knowledgeable about mold issues, but he really enjoys rolling up his sleeves and performing his job. After he finished his part of the job, he was always available via cell to give advice and discuss any concerns and questions I had. He even followed up after several weeks to make sure all matters were resolved to my satisfaction. As long as I live in South Florida, he is the only mold investigator I would consider using.

Working with Tom was a pleasure. He helped us evaluate the quotes that we received from mold remediation companies and educated us on the proper techniques of remediation so that we would not get ripped off.
