Mold Detective

The Mold Detective, Charlie, was very responsive, provided excellent communications and time accomadations and discounts. I had initial testing done using his basic package which showed positive test results in one room. I started researching remediators on Angie's List and was pleased when the Mold Detective had worked with both of my finalists and and recommended them both. As an extra precaution I had Charlie come back out and test two more rooms. I also had him do a post clean-up inspection test. When that failed, Charlie came back to retest after the re-remediation and took care of collection the re-inspection test fee from the remediator. Each time I called, he was there within hours to days - according to my schedule. He accomodated my work schedule getting here as early as 8:00 a.m. Not "in a two hour window", but each time, right when he said he would be here. The one time he got caught in traffic, he had let me know in advance that he was going to be in a high congestion situation and would let me know pronto if there were issues. He did early enough that I could stay at work and then meet him just as he was pulling in. He not only honored his Angie's List discount - refusing to take a completed check I had left with my son telling me to just send a check in the mail - to provided additional discount on the extra followup testing I chose to do. He was friendly, knowledgable, trustworthy, and reassuring. EXCELLENT SERVICE AND CUSTOMER CARE!

Very honest, with great, inexpensive common sense approach.

Charles was super nice, professional, on time and helped us to understand exactly what was happening and what we could expect. When the results were in he sent us a detailed report of the lab's findings along with his own personal assessment of our home. He even exchanged a couple of personal emails with us to help us better understand our results and put our minds at ease. If you want to have mold testing done I would highly recommend Charles.

Voice message was left. My call was returned within 30 minutes. Charlie arrived on time to our appointment. He was very personable and professional. The attic was thoroughly checked, as were the exterior walls and the skylight in the master bathroom. A leak was discovered in the skylight area. It was further discovered that there was mold on the air conditioner coil in the air handler. Air samples of both interior and exterior air were captured and sent to a professional lab. Two lab reports were e-mailed to me, specifying remediation. The report stated that no mold was present, yet when my contractor took the sheet rock down in the master bathroom, mold was discovered.

Not knowing anything about Mold and what testing entailed, I had lots of questions. Charley was very up-front, supplying all the information we should be concerned about, and also very realistic about what little could not be determined from just a visual inspection, much less a telephone call. I called another place or two but called Charley back to do the testing. It also helped that another vendor on Angie's List also had good things to say about Charley. During his visit, Charley was courteous and was very patient, given the number of questions I kept hitting him with. But he understands that Mold is a major concern for many people and he really helped educate us. Charley also did not suggest more testing than what he thought necessary; my wife kept pushing for more, but he would always let us know when he thought it was unnecessary. Elevated Mold counts were found and we're getting the remediation done. We have already called Charley to perform the after-remediation testing; he knows the remediation company and will contact them directly to coordinate his visit once they are done.

The testing went well. Charles provided a large amount of information in the forms of charts and pictures. They were very thorough and prompt. Charles is reliable, reasonably priced, and pleasant to work with.

Called on a Friday and left a voicemail that was returned w/in an hour. Arrived the following Monday, ON TIME. Neatly dressed and professional. Physically inspected entire exterior and interior of home. Looked at everything including under all sinks, and moisture meter tested under all windows. When I said I saw some mold on the a/c coil, he crawled 10 feet down the return duct to see for himself, swab and photograph it. Indoor, outdoor, and surface sample were collected, and he drove them to a nearby lab the same day. By the following afternoon, I received a detailed lab analysis and his lengthy written report w/ photos via e-mail, as promised. Very nice, professional, and thorough. The price was reasonable and he does not do remediation, so there was no fear of finding mystery mold to fix. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to find more mold in the air outside than in my home. Highly recommend this professional to anyone.

After researching a number of firms, I decided on Mold Detectives, because of the Angie List ratings the written reviews and the fact they only do testing. Mold Detectives had no ties to any other mold related activities, so they had no skin in the game to beef up the report to sell me services. Charlie's was early and was very professional. He answered any questions I had and talked through all of the processes. He walked the entire inside and outside of the house and did the minimal amount necessary to get a excellent view of the situation. He does not do any more testing than is necessary. I rated the price as a B, because the Lab portion of the testing in my opinion is too high. I realize labs have overhead, but everything is done by computers and the cost vs price seems to be a lot more than is necessary to get a decent return on investment. The charge for Charlie's times was very reasonable. I did received the lab results the following morning, which was less than a 24 hour turn around, which was great. I receive the full report from Charlie early in the evening the next day after testing. Again this was a very fast turnaround. Overall I was very pleased with everything that was done.

His competitor referred him to me, since they were unable to do the service that day--they were that confident that he'd be able to help. He was very personable and came on time. He took pictures and included them in the report. The report came to me right on time, too. I would recommend his services.

Very straightforward inspection. Answered all our questions and concerns. Showed up on time and worked efficiently. Very courteous and followed up with us regarding our inspection results. Would highly recommend to others.

Charlie in effect was quick to respond, very quick to do the work, very punctual and ahead of schedule on his report, and follow up conversations outstanding. He's truly a good example of what every service provider should be but usually isn/t I would recommend Charlie to everyone.

So we checked Angie's List--found Mr. Galvagni's A ratings and set up a date. Needless to say, on time, fully prepared, infinitely thorough, and a pleasure to see in action. His detailed report there were a few remaining issues to be addressed to sub-optimal work, we'll call it, from the cleanup crew I'd relied upon. Armed with Charles' detailed report, I forwarded that report to original guys and I am sure they will soon be out to finish the work they no doubt intended to finish the first time. And I will check it again when done. In sum, Angie'sList and Charles G were decisively helpful in gaining us good work and peace of mind

This experience was very helpful for me. This was my first time using Angie's list. But, it will not be a last. Charlie and Mold Detective were not the first people that I brought in to check the mold levels of my house. I really didn't trust the first inspector for several reasons; I'll mention only one here. The first inspector sent me a very convoluted report, which he has yet to call and explain to me. Charlie was very professional, thorough, and friendly. He obviously not only cares about the work that he does, but about his clients and not wasting their time or money. He even charged less than the first inspector.

Professional, fair priced and punctual. Charlie did exactly what he propsed to do. RESULTS were great.
