His "A" rating thru Angie's list proved to be accurate. I think I found a new , very honest AC repair person.
Description of Work: Needed a second opinion about a possible slow ac leak He check my system with a gas detector, and found only a small leak around the gas service caps. He corrected that problem and said lets wait a while before doing anything else... since it seems to be ok now, and give him a call if anything changes, then we can go to the next step System at 100%

I found Mr. Kelly on Angie's List and because of his reviews of his honesty and professionalism, I knew he was the person I wanted to hire. I called on a Friday and left a message. Mr. Kelly returned my calls in a timely manner. He informed me that he was busy all day Friday and could not make a service call until Monday morning and would understand if I wanted to hire another company. I told him that I would wait because his reputation proceeded him and that I wanted someone honest. I was NOT disappointed. Mr. Kelly called me Friday evening and told me he would be out Monday morning at 9:00 A.M. On Monday morning, he called me to tell me that they were on their way and would be at my house in 45 minutes. Great communication! Mr. Kelly and a worker found that the lines needed to be cleaned out and had my air conditioners running in no time. I cannot tell you enough how wonderful that was to have a professional who told the truth. No lies about needing unnecessary Freon or oh, you need a new coil, or oh you need a new condenser. Just the truth, your lines needed cleaning! My house is very cool again and I am so pleased. I saw that they also repair appliances and told him of a problem I was having and he repaired that also. There is a reason for the excellent reports Kelly's Air Conditioning company has on Angie's List. Bruce Kelly is the BEST. Never hesitate to hire him. You will NOT be disappointed. If he is busy and you can possibly wait, do wait because you will have the best service at the best price. I will always hire him if we have an air conditioning or appliance problem and will recommend him to all my neighbors and friends!
Description of Work: Two Air Conditioning Handlers (3 1/2 years old) which were not working. The unit which cools the bedrooms started working again but the one for the main house would not work.

Bruce was great. First, he is really nice and trustworthy. He showed up when he said he would and got to work immediately. He found the problem quickly and had the part to replace it on the spot. If I had gone with an larger AC company (as I have in the past) it wold have been a minimum of $400. Bruce Kelly was actually a recommendation from my wife's boss who found Bruce on Angie's List initially. I looked up Kelly's AC as well and was very happy to see that he has so many good reviews. That made me feel much more comfortable going with Bruce Kelly's AC. Next steps are a complete new AC system for 2015 (or maybe 2016). But there will be no doubt that I will use Bruce as I trust him. Great service, great guy, trustworthy. Thanks Bruce! JW
Description of Work: The inside unit of my AC was freezing over again and again. Bruce Kelly came out and did an analysis of the inside and outside unit and found that I had a faulty contactor in the outside unit.

we found that the air conditioner handler was leaking last night. We called Mr. Kelly this moring and left message at 7:30 am. Mr. Kelly returned our call in 10 minutes and told us that he would come to our home between 2 pm to 5 pm. We called him at about 2:30 pm and Mr. Kelly told us that he would come to our home before 5 pm. Then, he called us at 3:50 pm and said that he would arrive in 30 minutes. Finally, he arrived at our home at 4:30 pm. We described the following problems to hims: (1) water leaking, (2) not cool enough, (3) the blower within the inside unit sometimes does not work after runing a whole day. Mr.Kelly cleaned the drain pan and reconnected the pipes. The leaking was stopped. Mr. Kelly told us that if the leaking comes back, the evapcoil may be needed to be cleaned or change the whole unit, since it is old. He gave us the quote of $350 to clean evapcoil. Mr. Kelly also checked the outside unit and the level of freon. He told us that the freon was enough. However, he found that the inside unit was for 3.5 tons and the outside unit was for 3.0 tons. The 3.0 tons may not be big enough for our house. Therefore, we may need a new and big unit. Mr. Kelly also changed the relay. At about 5:10 pm, he finished all work. He went out and came back at about 5:14 with an invoice. Mr. Kelly waived the fee for serve call for Angie's list member. The total cost included one hour labor fee and the material cost. Overall, we are satisfied with Mr. Kelly's work.
Description of Work: (1)Clean the drain pan and reconnect the pipes. (2)Replace the relay. (3) check the system.

Called Mr Kelly because my unit was icing up, low on freon. I know the unit has a slow leak and will need to be replaced in the near future. Rather than hand me a large bill touting my old Trane uses an exotic freon only found on distant planets, I was fairly charged and requested an estimate for a new system. I will use Mr Kelly for my new system this summer. Highly recommended.

Due to allergies I had decided to clean my air ducts and was told that my AC handler probably needed to be cleaned. I contacted Bruce he gave me a quote of $475 and came out to inspect the place. Looking at it and considering it's age (15 years) he recommended changing the handler. His price was cheaper than a quote I had gotten a year before (the other price probably also recommended changing the compressor too which was replaced in 2011 prior to new laws related to freon). We did have to reschedule twice as he had other emergencies. The install went without a hitch.

My first impressions of the installed system were more than favorable. Rheem has been around for many years and I expected to have many reliable years ahead of me with this system. What's more important in a new A/C system is the install. Seems mine ddin't go as well as I'd hoped after the install, nothing but problems. UPDATE: Sadly, my a/c bliss lasted barely 2 months. For the first 6 weeks or so my a/c maintained a perfect 81 during the day & 79 at night. Yes, the system made the house feel so comfortable at only 79, I had no reason to lower it! My 2-speed system was running on Low speed 80% of the time, couldn't have been happier. It even maintained a consistent 47 Relative Humidity. But like I said, barely 2 months after my install I arrive home and the a/c is running on High for more than 5 hours straight and couldn't get my house to 81 degrees!! This was on a Friday and Bruce wouldn't be available until Monday. I was going to have to call somebody else to fix my new system. Bruce managed to adjust his schedule to swing by the next day mid-morning. That was surely appreciated. My system was very low on freon. Bruce was at it for a while, but had no luck fixing the system. It was determined there was somehow a clog in the coil of my new air handler. Bruce said he'd be out the following Monday to replace it. On Monday Bruce replaced the coil. What I didn't care for was, my brand new copper coil was replaced with an aluminum coil instead. Bruce informed me that's what the supplier provided him with. While I was happy with Bruce replacing it quickly, I was NOT happy with it being an aluminum replacement. Bruce told me they're all going with aluminum now. And while that's sadly mostly true in the HVAC industry, I paid for copper which is four times the price of aluminum, better than aluminum, lasts longer than aluminum, etc.. I complained to Rheem, not about my installer, but about my so-called top-of-the-line Rheem system having a problem already and it being repaired with lesser quality materials. Rheem finally got back with me a week later and now Bruce will have to go to his supplier and tell them he wants a copper coil to replace my original copper coil. Gets worse from there! Immediately after my coil is replaced I noticed my system was running on High speed the majority of the time, the exact opposite as before. Meaning, it's using WAY more energy. And, the Relative Humidity fluctuates from 36 to 52. Something sure seemed wrong. Well, d***, sure enough, I come home tonight 8/9/14 around 5:30, drop the air down 1 degree from 81 to 80 degrees, and 2 AND 1/2 HOURS LATER MY A/C STILL CAN'T COOL THE HOUSE TO 80 DEGREES!! So it seems it's low on freon again and the coil is frozen AGAIN. Bruce is away until 8/16, hated to bother the guy while he's on vacation, so I just shot him a text. It's now 84 in my house at 9:40pm! I'm maintaining my faith in Bruce because he's been such a nice fair guy. But, my a/c fails twice in less than 3 months?! The real rub, my FPL bill is UP $50+ per month! 14 TO 19.5 SEER! Completely unhappy with my Rheem! 4/26/15 SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING AGAIN!! Another update, waiting to see what the response will be this time. For that brief amount of time when the system actually worked I could not have been happier and my review reflected that. HOWEVER, that soon changed after the a/c system failed not once but TWICE in barely 90 days. My system was installed on 5/13/13, my coil was replaced on 7/21/13, then AGAIN on 8/25/13. My first big issue that was sloughed off as not-a-concern was they replaced my new copper coils with cheap s*** aluminum. Do your homework, there's a reason a/c manufacturers are switching to aluminum, BECAUSE IT"S CHEAPER. Copper will be around for a hundred years still intact while aluminum oxidizes, gets 'pits' and wears out faster. The HVAC industry is already seeing a dramatic rise in failures with the 'new' aluminum coils. Copper wasn't having these issues. I paid for copper but now I have aluminum. At the time of my initial complaint to Rheem a new replacement copper coil was available, but Bruce waited 10 days to contact Rheem and it was no longer available. Shortly after, the system failed again, and another coil had to be installed. The reason I got as to why the system was failing? You'll LOVE this answer "because the system is not designed to have the thermostat changed, it's supposed to stay on one setting at all times". Really?! Think about that for a moment. You are sold a "programmable thermostat" which is DESIGNED to be programmed to save energy by adjusting the temps of your home at various times throughout the day AND week. I'm told to "set it at 78 and leave it alone"! Incredible nonsense. I called Rheem for their take, of course even they say that's absurd. For the record, when the system worked properly I'd never set it below 79 degrees because it was that comfortable. AND, when newly installed, my 2-speed system ran primarily on Low speed because I'm one person and a cat with closed blinds, so how much of a heat load could that be. I'd set it at 81 during the day, then "way" down a whopping 2 degrees to 79 when I got home in the evening. Really nice for the first 6 weeks or so. Now, after the TWO coil replacements my system runs on High speed most of the time. My electric bill has been HIGHER ever since this so-called energy efficient system was installed! I went from a 17-year-old 14 SEER system to this new dual-speed 19.5 SEER system and my bills have been higher every month since. Some savings! MY A/C IS NOT WORKING A-G-A-I-N!! Yes, it is only APRIL 26th and my a/c system has failed AGAIN. Why, because it is no longer 70-80 degrees outside and this shoddy Rheem cannot handle any heat loads when the outside temps start climbing to the Florida "norm". The a/c has been making a loud banging noise every time it's starts up, and sure enough as soon as the outside temps got above 'warm' this piece of junk Rheem system cannot handle it and fails. Why hasn't Bruce installed a "hard start kit" yet is beyond me. Nearly $6500-AFTER REBATES sunk into a so-called "best" system and the system can't even go for a few months without failing. Unfortunately I did a LOT more homework after this install and learned quite a bit. Sad to say, (look this up for yourselves) the success or failure of an installed system LARGELY depends on the installer. After closer inspection of the work performed I now see glaring deficiencies. Me, the homeowner, has to caulk where the installers did not in order to keep rain out of where the copper coils run into the house, sagging previously condensation-damaged wood was reused to mount the much larger & heavier air-handler, hole drilled into the box under the air-handler for the UV light left unsealed so the air-handler sucks in unfiltered dirty air & fumes from the garage, etc.. But tonight it's 82 degrees in my house at 11:30PM while the thermostat is set to 79 degrees. It's not even the beginning of summer and this Rheem cannot handle the heat. I have held off updating my review in hopes Bruce would recognize the obvious, THAT THERE IS SOMETHING CLEARLY WRONG WITH THE ENTIRE SYSTEM, and simply do the right thing and do whatever it takes to resolve the issue. It's Sunday night, I sent him a text and email and I'm giving him one more chance to make things right. I have been extremely patient and understanding throughout all this nonsense. What he should do is replace the entire system and start from scratch considering what I've gone through and how much money I spent for his so-called top-of-the-line system. The old a/c lasted 17+ years and only a burnt wire stopped it, easily replaced. But this new system can't go 17+ WEEKS without a problem. Is it Rheem or my installer?! We'll find out soon. Bruce gives you a one year warranty which means mine ends in just over two weeks, let's see how this is handled. Angies List doesn't provide enough room to really notate the negative details of my post-install experience. I cannot possibly find enough words to express how unhappy and dissatisfied I am having this Rheem system installed the way it was installed. Every time this system fails I need to take a day off work. The worst part is, virtually everyday for as long as this Rheem is in my house I now have to worry when the next date it will fail. Rheem is NOT what it used to be, OR, my installer did a hack job. Either way, unless Bruce actually properly corrects the issue once and for all, I'm gonna have to say this is the worst service experience I have ever had bar none. Bruce will either turn that sentiment around or turn it into gospel. But, until that happens, Rheem is garbage and find another installer. Now, as to Rheem's "customer service"? Not helpful at all. Every answer I get is "take that up with your installer". "We don't make the 'system', we only manufacture the components, take that up with your installer". Even Rheem puts the emphasis on the installer. One has to wonder. Each entity has your money, after that you're on your own. I will do another follow-up with Bruce's response and how this is handled. It will be fair. Good response, good follow-up, bad response, bad follow-up. Maybe, perhaps maybe, my concerns will be considered serious enough to warrant an earnest effort to address the issues properly and get it corrected for good.
Description of Work: Installed new Rheem Prestige Comfort Air 19.5 SEER system; the compressor, air handler, communicating thermostat, a UV light, new line set (the copper lines), and had 3 additional vents installed. Also, located and repaired condensate line. $6300 AFTER rebates, read the updates to see what that bought me.

I called Kelly's when an A/C company I had used for years handed me a bill for $700 for repairs/service I had not approved nor given a quote for the cost. Bruce came out immediately to look at the unit and tell me what was wrong with it as it still wasn't fixed and give me a quote. He is the owner of the company and he came himself. He was extremely professional, thorough and HONEST! I immediately felt at ease with him and trusted that he would treat me fairly. That was about a year ago and I use him for my home a/c as well. I highly recommend him and will always call him for a/c work that needs to be done. :)

Although I thought the price was a little high for adding the mechanical damper, the quality of the service, the professionalism, courteousness and honesty with which the service was provided more than made up for it, and were I to install a new unit or do anything else with my AC I would use them again. They offered a simple, yet effective solution to my problem (bad distribution of airflow in the house). Tommy was the person who came to my house to give me the estimate and to see what type of work had to be done. He is very experienced, and knows what he is talking about. Instead of telling you that your house has so many problems, he tried to find the cheapest and most effective solution to obtain what you need. Instead of telling me: you need another unit (which I do for the size of the house) he offered me this other solution that while not ideal, has solved my problem for now. On installation day, Tommy came with two installers, told them what to do and left. They spent a while understanding the airflow in the house and how everything worked. One of the installers was not sure that the damper would work. They informed me of this and would have been happy to leave without me paying them for their trouble. I was worried because I didn't want to pay for something that would not work. They called Tommy and he said that if this would not work, they would try to resolve the problem by increase the size of my duct in a certain part of the house and that they would credit me 800$ (or 780 or something like that) towards this other solution. I was happy with that and they performed the service. The next day (or same day?) Bruce, the owner, called me to see how the service had gone, and told me to monitor the airflow for a week and see if I was satisfied. If I wasn't he would be happy to send someone out and remedy the problem. In the end the solution worked. So the service was great. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and accommodating. They were all very honest and took the time to explain the problem to me, how my system worked, how the damper would work etc. so I could make an informed decision if I wanted to go ahead with the service or not. Oh, and what is more amazing and rare these days is that instead of arrogantly telling me what I needed to do, they really listened to my problem, and made me be able to be involved in the solution. Thanks to all of you.

Called Kelly A/C and got prompt attention. Bruce was extremely knowledgeable and he diagnosed, corrected and explained the problem and what he did to repair it. The work was done in a timely manner and the price was reasonable. Would definitely call Kelly A/C again for any A/C repairs. I noticed that Kelly A/C also does appliance repairs and would not hesitate to call them when the need arises. Am happy to find an A/C tech that I feel has the experience to diagnose a problem correctly. I waited a month to write this review and my A/C has been running great since the repair.

Very satisfied with Bruce and his team. When Bruce initially arrived to inspect my unit and estimate replacing it, at no cost, he recharged the Freon so my house would be cool until the new unit was in place. The following day, on schedule, one of his associates arrived to inspect the house and ensure they would be able to install the correct system. Less than a week after choosing Kelly's for the job, his installers arrived on time and got to work immediately. While the installation was difficult (air handler needed to be put in the attic; attic is tight on space; it was a 90 degree day, which meant it was easily over 100 in the attic), the system was up and running the same day, as promised.

He first gave an estimate which was very reasonable for a quality AC system. I needed the condenser placed in a particular place which was no problem. He also remained in contact with updates throughout the process and showed up when he said he would. He and his helper worked very hard throughout the day until the job was complete. Both were professional and knowledgeable about the work that they do. The AC is now working great and I couldn't be more happy with the service. He also installed a new AC for my girlfriend the day before with the same positive results. We would both use him again without question. Thanks Bruce .

I've found an HVAC contractor that is 1. Honest 2. Experienced and effective, 3. Arrives when he says his is going to. That HVAC contractor is Bruce Kelly. I have used Bruce 3 times. He has always been fare and honest. It can be challenging to find an HVAC contractor that you can trust. Most of us are at the mercy of the technician to tell us the truth since AC repair requires specialized knowledge. I consider Bruce Kelly to be one of the good guys. He is professional, knows what he is doing and fixes the problem at a reasonable price. In the last year, I've had both of my air conditioners break down in one way or another. I had several other HVAC contractors out before calling Bruce Kelly. Without going into the details, Bruce proved to me that he will provide an honest diagnosis of the problem and fix it in a professional manner. As far as I'm concerned, you can't put a price on integrity. I give Bruce an A+ and highly recommend him. I highly recommend Kelly AC & Appliance Service. I hope he never retires....
Description of Work: Replaced an AC Coil on one unit & replaced a contactor switch on my second unit.

About 10 years ago I was talked into adding baffles to control the air flow to parts of the house because the a/c unit was too small for the space. It was reasonably effective until 4 years ago when the a/c unit was replaced. For 4 years the air in the house has been stuffy and never felt like air conditioned air. The more the unit ran, the damper the house became, so I was also running a dehumidifier and floor fans constantly. I complained for 4 years to the installing company and was repeatedly told this was as good as it would get unless I replaced the unit again, knocking out part of a wall to accommodate a larger air handler. After checking reviews on Angie's List I called Bruce Kelly in February; I explained the issues and asked if he would be willing to look at the problem. On the first visit an employee named Tommy determined that the a/c unit was not designed to be compatible with the zoning and agreed that it was actually adding humidity to the air instead of removing it. He said that the unit was running so inefficiently that it was diminishing the air quality. At his suggestion I lowered the temperature on all three thermostats, forcing air throughout the house most of the time; this was the opposite of what I had been advised by the installing company. Within 24 hours the house was drier and more comfortable and I was able to discontinue sinus medication. Mr. Kelly and crew returned a couple of weeks later for additional testing of the unit and to formalize a plan for what needed to be done. I accepted the estimate and the work was completed on March 17. As of now the unit is apparently running more efficiently; the more the unit runs, the drier the air is; and I continue to not take sinus pills. I am using the dehumidifier only on cooler, cloudy days when the a/c unit is running less, again the exact opposite of the way it has been for years. I am not totally convinced that we are done yet; things may need to be adjusted a bit as we get into the Florida summer, especially increasing the air flow into a guest room. However we have now had several days of intense sun and temperatures in the upper 80's and the house remains more comfortable that it has been for years. Throughout this process Mr. Kelly and the crew were responsive, helpful, efficient and knowledgeable. They took the time to listen to my concerns and to formulate a plan that has significantly improved the air quality in the house.
Description of Work: Reconfigured the a/c ducts, adding in an additional air return and removing an old zoned baffle system that required 3 separate thermostats to control the a/c in the house, reducing the temperature control to a single thermostat.

I have used this company before to install a mini split air system. As before, the professionalism and workmanship are top shelf. The crew of two young men were clearly well trained and becoming craftsman in their own right. It tool two full days of hard work to complete the entire job and I am very well satisfied. The work also included installing a stainless steel back splash from the range up to the range hood. The end result was more than I expected and looks spectacular.
Description of Work: Removed an unvented over-the-range microwave and installed a stainless steel vented cooker exhaust (which I provided). Kelly's also repaired three air conditioning ceiling vents that were improperly installed during a remodel before my owner ship of the house.

Mr. Kelly did an excellent job installing a duct to divert the house A/C into the garage. The system works well. Mr. Kelly was punctual, thorough and very fair in his pricing. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him again. This is the second time I have used Mr. Kelly and will use him to upgrade my whole house A/C in the future.
Description of Work: Installed an 8" flex duct and return grill to divert A/C into the garage.

I agree with another member's comment - Your search is over, call Kelly AC! I was having chronic problems with a unit only 4 1/2 years old - evaporator leaks, freon line leak, condenser coil leaks. This last time I needed a new condenser coil again - this being the third time. The condenser coil was covered under warranty, but not the labor charge. My current service (who installed the unit) quoted a labor charge of $800, then reduced it to $750.00 when I complained in shock. I thought it best to get a second opinion. After seeing the excellent reviews on Angie's List I called Kelly AC. Bruce came out and took more time going over my unit than my current service who sold me the unit. He found leaks in the evaporator coil (again) as well as the leaks in the condenser coil. Bruce called a technical trouble shooter at Rheem, advised him of the problems, sent him pictures of the unit with the model and serial numbers. The guy at Rheem said he would look up all the repairs done under warranty and see what Rheem could do. Why didn't my current service provider do this????? The very next day, Bruce called me back to say that Rheem would replace the whole condenser - not just the coil, as well as the evaporator coil and give me a labor allowance of $225.00. The work was done yesterday and I am so happy that I joined Angie's List and well as finding Kelly AC. THANK YOU BRUCE!
Description of Work: Chronic problems with A/C unit - inside and out.
