Description of Work: I bought a new house in May 2012, and you know the saying, Buyer Beware! Well, my outside air conditioning compressor went out only 10-weeks after the closing. I had just joined Angie's List prior for just this circumstance. I looked up Air Conditioning repair and found Boyden Heat and A/C in Pompano. I called them and they responded quickly. At first the technician (Joe) came out and scoped out the problem and I told him to try to repair the system as is. Joe did as I asked and told me that the repair job may not be the answer as the broken system was over 10-yrs old, but he did as I requested. A couple days later, I discovered Joe was correct the whole compressor outside was in need of replacement. The staff (Jennifer) at the office and Joe worked very diligently and quickly to get me a new system. Again, they were very open and helpful and I am very satisfied with my repair and new compressor. I really recommend this company, as they had all the things I look for (excellence, professionalism, and committment) to my job. The only thing I would change on this company is their voice mail when they are closed, to add a statement what their office hours are, the voicemail greeting is the only thing I would change. If I need help again, I will certainly choose this company and recommend them to my family and friends.

Description of Work: Cleaned/sanitized 15 A/C vents and ducts. Also had air handler unit cleaned. Had to pay additional for extra vents and air handler which the gave me a discount on. Just moved into a house and the piece of mind to know the system was clean was reassuring! Workers were prompt and professional.

Description of Work: Because I had purchased an Angie's List thermostat from Boyden Air, when I started having problems, I called them to make sure the thermostat wasn't malfunctioning. When the office (Jennifer) found out that I was without air, she sent a tech (Joel) immediately. As it turns out, it wasn't the thermostat, the whole ac unit had failed. I now have to replace it but I wanted everyone to know how professional this company is. Jennifer called me at work and kept me updated several times. I would have gladly bought the new HVAC unit from them but they wre unable to offer any type of payment plan. They are just great and their customer service cannot be beat. Don't ever hesitate to use this company.

Description of Work: Duct cleaning with a big deal from Angie's List. I had more ducts than the Big Deal, so I paid for the extra ducts. Very quick/thorough.

Description of Work: We needed the duct cleaning done in the week we were in Florida after closing on our new home. The company was very responsive and the men who showed up to do the work were professional and efficient. They cleaned up afterward and in general were quite good. The only issue might be that before they started working we discussed what kind of filter we needed and they said that they would measure the space we needed to fill when they were done with their work.. however, they and we both forgot to follow through on this issue. But we definitely would use them again. Price was as promised over the phone with the Angies list coupon.

Description of Work: I live in a 2-bedroom condo and have only 4 ducts. The ducts were vacuumed and sanitized along with the air handler. The tech was Jarried he was knowledgeable and professional and I would certainly use this company again.

Description of Work: I purchased the Big Deal for an A/C tune-up and inspection for $49.00 . The inspection was scheduled for Tuesday, February 21, between 10 and 11. The technician did not come and nobody called. I called the company at 12:30, talked to Jodi, who told me that there was a "problem" with the schedule but she thought she had contacted everybody who had an appointment. She was very, very apologetic and said she would reschedule the appointment. I told her that any new appointment would have to be 5:00 p.m. or later. She said that was fine and even offered to throw in a "little extra" for my trouble. She said she had to look at each day's schedule to determine which day had a 5:00 pm appointment available. I didn't want to remain on hold while she looked so I asked her to send me an email with the new date and time. I never received an email and she never called me so my "big deal" appointment was never rescheduled. An entire morning was wasted! Thank you Angies' List for promptly refunding my money!

Description of Work: Joe and Tom came out to my home.They were very professional, they honored an estimate that was given over the phone. They cleaned up there mess and were not pushy with extras. They they did let me know of another issue I need to take care of, but they did not push me any kind of sales pitch (which is something I very much appreciated, I will use them again).

Description of Work: Although I currently have a service contract with another A/C company ,(signed with before joining Angie's List), I have become less than satisfied with their service. I learned of Boyden A/C through Angie's List in July 2011, and called them to clean our A/C coils....something I recently learned needs to be done (I have no idea if or when the coils had been cleaned in the past.... we purchased our 1970's home 4-1/2 yrs ago-- my husband is homebound/chronically ill and air quality is important). I am very pleased with the service received from Boyden A/C. Their service rep was prompt, courteous and pleasant; he answered all of my questions and, when he left, his work area was neat and clean. I am also impressed with my phone contacts at Boyden's office - again: the customer service I received was friendly, informative, helpful and customer-oriented. I highly recommend this company!

Description of Work: This company had originally done an A/C check and inspection and suggested duct cleaning and coil cleaning. They added freon at that time and the A/C ran much better for a few weeks. When we had a problem I thought was related to the freon again, they were very helpful- offering to come on a Sunday morning when they ordinarily don't work. As I wasn't able to get approval from the landlord until late Sunday, they came first thing Monday morning. Because there was an additional Angie's List Coupon for a Coil Cleaning, the landlord approved that and when they returned they did that job and rechecked the system. It was not the freon as I had thought, but the coil (due to age) was causing the system to freeze. They alsorecalibrated the thermostat and the A/C has been doing well. I found them to be very knowledgeable, professional and worked with us so as not to inconvenience us. They were very responsive and punctual.

Description of Work: SHOWED UP ON TIME, EVEN A LITTLE EARLY. . PERFORMED WORK VERY PROFESSIONALLY. THEY REMOVED ALL VENT OUTLET COVERS, BRUSHED THE INSIDE OF THE DUCTS AND USED A GIANT VACCUM HOOKED UP TO THEIR TRUCK TO SUCK OUT THE DEBRIS. THEY CLEANED THE BLOWER WHEEL AND SPRAYED SANITIZER INTO THE DUCTS. CLEANED UP WELL TO LEAVE OUR HOME AS CLEAN AS THEY FOUND IT. VERY FRIENDLY WORKERS.
