Robert was prompt, courteous and professional. He identified the problem quickly and gave us options regarding the repair. Was able to complete the work on the same day as estimate. Thorough in explaining the work he would be doing to repair roof. He responded same day we called him for estimate. Several other contractors did not reply with even a phone call. Came out to repair roof at 8 o'clock at night when threats of more rain was apparent. Due to his quick response, we were able to contain damage to interior ceiling.

Robert from Rhino was very prompt to come out to my house and provide a quote for a new roof. I didn't used Rhino for my roofing project because their quote was the highest of four I received. However, Robert was very professional and nice to work with during the quote process and was very knowledgable about his industry.

Over the weekend we noticed water damage in our garage and knew that this needed immediate attention. As usual I look for referrals via Angie's List. I called at 7 a.m. Monday morning thinking I would be leaving a message and waiting for someone to get back to me. Not in this case! I was pleasantly surprised when Mr. Elliott answered the phone and said he would be out the same day and would work around my schedule. He arrived when he said he would and responded to my calls immediately. He spent the time to look for the problem and found that it wasn't the roof and search for the problem area (which was a hole in the wall the size of pencil lead). He was patient with all my questions and took pictures and sent them to me on the spot. What I appreciated the most was that he took care of it on the spot. He didn't have to and could have left and sent a worker back another day, but he did it right then and there. He didn't rush or blow me off because the project was too small. We also did not feel that the price was extreme either. We had figured the cost for a service charge would be more than what he quoted. Also, about this mans honesty: we had discussed that I would be putting gutters up and he asked what I had been quoted and wanted to see if he could match the price. After he did the measurements he came back and told me the company that had quoted me was beyond fair and I should call them (another angie's list referral). He didn't try to talk me out of it or get my business for the work. That says a lot to me and I am impressed by that. I would most definitely call them again for future work!

I called and he called back within a few hours. Robert came out and gave an estimate that same day and a paper estimate the next day. He worked witth me the whole way and he used top notch shingles. He had a full crew and they were done by 3:30 the same day. Robert was very nice, professional and accomidating. I would highly recommend Robert for roofing or any general contracting issue.

Absolute pleasure working with these guys! My family and I just purchased our first home a few months ago and our home inspector told me that our roof had a few small leaks needed to be replaced sooner than later. I called quite a few roofers over the last week in addition to Rhino and got quotes from most of them. With Rhino, I had a call back within a few hours and a free inspection and price quote the next day. What really blew me away was that he (the only one out of all the roofers that I had talked to) told me that my roof didn't need replacing for the next few years and the leak I had could be repaired quickly. I opted to go ahead and get it done. Robert even took the time to come into the house and give me advise on quite a few of the home improvement projects that I have going on such as do's and dont's, which to prioritize and a few of my ideas that were not going to work and how to improve the ones that I had in progress. The crew showed up on time and all of them were professional, courteous, good natured and receptive to my concerns. They had the roof stripped by lunch and would have had it completed that day but the dealer didn't show up to deliver the supplies until 2.5 hours after the requested time. They came back the next morning and were finished within a few hours. One of my main concerns were nails and the fact that I have a 5yo and a 1.5yo and that play outside all the time. I asked that they took extra time to pick up all the nails which they did. The boss man told one of the guys to run the magnet again and when he replied with "OK, but I ran it three times already" boss told him to run it 2 more times. When Robert showed up to pick up the trailer and settle up with me we did find a few more in the driveway but they were directly under the trailer. If I had to say anything negative, there are a few small shingle tiles in the back and in the flower beds as well a few scraps of this and that by the fence but nothing a small bag and a few minutes of a walk-about won't take care of. All in all a wonderful and painless experience, roof looks great and a pleasure to work with these guys, I highly recommend them!

Rhino's crew of men worked for 3 days straight, arriving on time and and finishing by 3:30 pm. They were very careful not to damage our shrubs when removing the old roof and picked up any stray nails using a magnet. Everything was kept clean and tidy. New roof looks fantastic and job was completed on time. *Highly recommend this company.

Robert and his crew did an excellent job, even working into the evening on a weekend to complete the job. The original wood around the chimney was beginning to decay and cause leaks. The wood was replaced with hardieplank, a much more durable material which matched the original look of the house. The 15# tar paper underlayment was replaced with 30#.

Robert/Rhino was quick to respond to the estimate, completely validated all work and material along with warranties that would be performed, put in place, he offered references, which I had peviously done on Angies List, price came in the middle of pact of all vendor estimates. Rhino ultimately won the bid due to the above; the work was performed/completed as promised, all was done professionally, clean up was perfect and timely. In the end was given a special thank you certificate...Job Well Done and a great value for the money!

From the very start of the estimate and inspection process, Robert was very straight-forward with me and extremely professional. As a single female homeowner, I depend on Angie's List to find good contractors that won't try to take advantage of me, and Robert is the definition of such. He offered options, discussed the pros/cons of each, offered to answer questions about estimates I had received from other contractors, and was patient with my final decisions and custom requests. Additionally, I had some major rot problems in the underlying roof structure, and since my home is a historic bungalow (1928), I wanted the repairs to be done well and watertight. Robert provided me an additional estimate for the repairs, but I understood that this was flexible since we couldn't see under the current shingle layer as to the condition of the roof. A week later, as I was working to get the downpayment ready, Robert called and said he wanted to schedule the roofing immediately since a front was coming through that was going to dump rain in another week. He prepped his team and bought the materials before I had given him my downpayment because of the upcoming weather. A handful of days later, I had a beautiful new roof with all new drip edge and newly installed roof vent (to cool my attic). Additionally, the expected repairs were much more extensive than we originally planned... not only did Robert and his crew send me pictures during the repairs to show me the extent of damage (as I had requested), but he also went easy on the unexpected repair totals and gave me the added materials at cost. At the end of all of this... Robert provided me with the mitigation forms necessary for my homeowner's insurance discount for the newly replaced and strengthened roof on my little old house.
Description of Work: They replaced my entire shingle roof and did some major repairs to the underlying roof structure.

Robert was easy to contact and very responsive. Initially he came out, inspected the roof and then gave me a verbal estimate - which was reasonable. Robert and his roofer showed up on time for the repair and all repairs were completely satisfactorily and at the agreed upon price. Robert was very personable, responsive and interacted well throughout the process and afterwards. I asked Robert about replacing a door on my house and he agreed to replace it and gave me a verbal estimate. The door was ordered and Robert called to let me know when his crew could come and install the new door. The crew showed up at the scheduled time with the wrong door - it was white and the door needed to be wood on the interior. After informing Robert, he ordered a new door and had it available a few days later. Having the correct door on hand, the crew proceeded to install it - they were professional and courteous and got the job done. Robert informed me that the price for the door was going to be higher because it was a different door - we agreed to the price difference even though it wasn't our mistake. After they were finished, all of the trim was riddled with nail holes, the threshold was not flush with the floor and the finish work was undone. We informed Robert that evening and included pictures and video to show the work. Robert contacted me the next day and said he was sending his crew back out to finish the work. His door guy did come out and repaired the work appropriately but, because he had to install all new trim and had to get to his son's football practice, didn't finish staining it to match the door or the rest of our trim - we ended up doing that ourselves. We were very unhappy with this experience. While Robert's crew was initially working on the door, we asked him to give us an estimate on our garage ceiling and wall where the roof leak had discolored and destroyed some of the drywall. Robert said he could definitely do the repairs on it and have it looking like new. Robert said he would contact me with a price and a date for the repairs - we have never heard from him again. We received no receipts for the door replacement. Robert writes nothing down when you talk to him and he seems to forget exactly what the specifics are for the job (i.e. the type of finish on the door). It's our perception that Robert stopped contacting us because of the poor experience with the door replacement and likely didn't want to have to finish the staining. We were also likely perceived as "complainers" because we didn't accept the work on the door and that probably added costs to Robert's work. Throughout our interactions with Robert, he discussed the poor review here on Angie's list that he received from a single person. He was insistent that it was an aberration (I concurred since all of his other reviews were very positive - that's why we chose him) and that his lawyer was working on the situation. Our experience with Robert was good until the door job went wrong and he stopped contacting us - we still aren't sure what that is all about since we've never heard from him again. We would not recommend Rhino based on the experience with the door replacement, lack of communication regarding the drywall work and that Robert didn't write things down or provide a receipt.

We called 3 different roofing companies for quotes. One called to make arrangements for an appointment but never followed up. We received quotes from the other 2 . One roofing company did not use ?peel and stick? water proof layer (that would be an additional $1,500). They would repair existing damage to fascia wood but would not repair existing damage to the soffit wood. Rhino Roofing actually did all we wanted for a slightly higher dollar amount than the above mentioned quote plus giving a $500 discount for using "Angie's List". Also. the owner provides a 5 year Rhino General Contracting, Inc. Labor & Materials warranty. and Insurance Mitigation Form ($250.00 Value). The Rhino Roofing crew showed up at 8:30 AM on Thursday. They were very courteous and explained the sequence of events. The owner came by to check with the crew what services they were to perform. The entire crew was extremely courteous and proffesional. They cleaned up the yard and organised materials for the next day. The next day they arrived at 7:15 and had the whole job wrapped up before noon. Before leaving the crew did another thorough cleaning of the yard for debris and stray nails. We would definetley recommend this company..........
Description of Work: Removed existing roof shingles, tar paper, ridge vent, drip edge and vent pipe boots. They thoroughly checked for rotted deck plywood. They re-nailed all plywood decking to comply with current code and installed new drip edge. They installed new vent boots, “peel and stick” water proof layer, new flashing in valleys, new “architectural 3D” shingles and new ridge vent. In addition we had them install new aluminum soffits and fascia.

Due to the negative review that Rhino received I contacted six contractors to get estimates. I chose Rhino because he was very courteous and efficient. He was also going to be able to get to the work quicker than the others. He checked the roof and really wasn't sure why it was leaking. He gave me a few options on how to fix it. He ended up getting it fixed and everything up to par.
Description of Work: Six years ago I had another roofer who had redone my roof. I called them to see if they could take care of the issue. They would not handle it. He removed the existing roof down to the plywood. He then installed the correct roofing method for low pitch roofs. He used the correct products and installed a new drip edge as well.

During a Thursday night rain storm it was discovered that there were several leaks in our roof. The following morning I joined Angie's List and searched for a reliable roofing contractor. I found Rhino to be most suited to meet the needs of our requirements. I called Robert Elliott on Friday morning and he promised to be at our house later in the day. On Friday afternoon he was standing in my yard evaluating the problem. Within 24 hours my roof had been repaired, and all done without down payment or contract. In fact it was hard for me to make payment until Robert was sure I was satisfied with the work performed. I can not say enough about the service, work and follow-up that Rhino gives. It is truely refreshing to deal with a vendor that is actually concerned about their customers they serve and the image of their company. I can not say enough positive things about my experience. I will definately put them at the top of my list when I have future work in their field.

UPDATE 12/12/12: IT HAS BEEN 4 MONTHS SINCE I FIRED ROBERT ELLIOTT/RHINO G.C. AND HE STILL HAS MY $15,000.00!!!!! DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A MAN YOU WANT TO HIRE FOR YOUR CONTRACTING NEEDS? I HAVE POSTED PICTURES OF THE BABY RATS THAT FELL THROUGH THE HOLE IN THE BATHROOM CEILING A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER THE (APPARENTLY) MOTHER RAT THAT FELL THROUGH A FEW DAYS BEFORE I GAVE ROBERT ELLIOTT THE DEPOSIT OF $15,000.00. HE WAS WELL AWARE OF THE RAT AND THE CONTINUED EXPOSURE. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE HE PROTECTED MY PROPERTY FROM FURTHER DAMAGE? AGAIN, DOES THIS SOUND LIKE SOMEONE YOU WANT TO HIRE TO WORK ON YOUR HOME THAT YOU WORK SO HARD TO PAY FOR AND MAINTAIN? I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST HIRING ANYONE WHO REQUIRES SUCH A LARGE DEPOSIT!!! PARTICULARLY ONE THAT DOES NOT RETURN $15,000.00 AFTER HE IS FIRED!!!!! DOES THIS SOUND HONEST AND LEGAL TO YOU??? On 6/25/12, my roof sustained damage from Tropical Storm Debby and ultimately, my master bath ceiling fell in. I called Robert Elliott/Rhino GC on a referral from a mutual friend. He came out and briefly looked at the inside damage then met the adjuster here on 7/3/12. Long story short, I signed a contract with Rhino GC on 7/18/12, and on 7/26/12, gave Robert Elliott the 60% deposit he demanded (my new roofing contractor asked for NO DEPOSIT!) and he cashed it the next day. He avoided giving me a tentative commencement date or further securing my roof after I told him repeatedly that the temporary patch was still leaking. After one week of no communication, I texted Robert and received no reply (prior to getting my money he had always responded quickly!). He was also not answering my phone calls. After two weeks I called again and when he did not answer, I left a voice mail firing him. He called back, leaving me a voice mail, stating he had planned to start that very day, however, he had made NO mention of starting to me, no material had been delivered to my home, and NO PERMIT HAD BEEN PULLED WITH POLK COUNTY!!!!! After several emails, he has refused to return my $15,000. deposit. He continues to offer to do the job but I do not trust him at all. He was totally disrespectful and negligent in not responding to my text or answering my calls once he had MY MONEY. I have since spoken to two homeowners who recently used Rhino for their roofs. He did not treat either of these MEN that way. I personally believe that he thinks he can bully me around because I am a single, female homeowner. (During the initial inspection by him, he made a comment to me that I "must be a pretty independent woman" which was creepy and inappropriate.) I am having to pursue the return of my money through a legal venue. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ROBERT ELLIOTT OR RHINO GENERAL CONTRACTOR FOR ANYTHING!!!! PARTICULARY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN!!!!!
Description of Work: NO WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gave Robert Elliott of Rhino GC a $15,000. check on 7/26/12, which he immediately cashed. I fired him two weeks later on 8/10/12, because he wouldn't answer my text or phone calls, and HE STILL HAS MY MONEY!!!!! He refuses to return the deposit, declaring that I owe him 20% of total job (new roof and interior repairs) for "administrative fees" and will not return the undisputed amount unless I sign a release of lien, however, there is NO mention of any such fees in his contract, and it appears he did not create his own estimate but used the adjuster's computations. (He initially demanded 30% for "consultant fees" but backed down after I told him he had not declared that beforehand.)

Response from Rhino General Contracting Inc
To All Angie’s List Members: We apologize that you have had to see this negative report. We have done our utmost to be professional with all potential and existing customers. This incident was no different. Member contacted us for some work to be performed on her home that was being remedied through an insurance claim. We went to work for her on her behalf to the insurance company to make sure she received all that was needed to repair her home properly. All was accomplished and a contract was signed. Due to existing contracts we were unable to commence work on her house immediately. In addition, the inclement weather had hindered our production, however, our workers made every effort to work when possible. On the day in question, we were finishing up a customers house that was in worse disrepair than originally thought, and as such, we could not leave the customer’s house unfinished to start another project. That same loyalty and quality workmanship is afforded to each and every customer no matter the size of the project. That customer’s house was not up to code and Code Enforcement was requiring compliance. We made sure Code Enforcement was satisfied before we began another project. Member’s house was next on the schedule and we made every effort to contact her through several communication avenues in order to commence work to no avail. As she stated, we still continued to offer to complete her repairs. At this time, Member is in breach of contract and this matter has been turned over to our attorney. Once again, Rhino General Contracting, Inc. strives to provide the highest quality workmanship and loyalty to all of our customers and potential customers. We apologize that everyone has had to see this matter in this manner. Sincerely, Robert Elliott President Rhino General Contracting, Inc. License #CGC1507291 Roofing #CCC1328480

Mr. Elliot came Saturday morning to see the problem and immediately diagnosed it as loose bolts hold ing the solar panels. He agreed to return at 5:00 to make the repairs. He returned at the appointed time with a worker who was expert in problems with solar panels. He found, not one, but 6 loose bolts; 2 missing shingles from a roof vent and "gunk" in my gutter. Each problem was demonstrated, explained and repaired. I was very satisfied.

Rob Elliot met me promptly at our appointed time and addressed each of my concerns one by one. Rob conducted himself in a very professional manner and gave me a good degree of confidence in his abilities. To my surprise, Rob calmed my concerns by informing me that all of the issues were, in fact, cosmetic and not issues at all. That honesty goes a long way with me and I'll be sure to call Rob back is something else come up.

Update-My screened porch is NOT leaking! First time since I moved in 7 years ago. I love this, Reminder: Rhino replaced my roof last July. I waited to update Angie's List to be sure it wouldn't start leaking after a few months. Best service ever! Thank you Rhino:)
