The yard is covered in brown spots and weeds. I used them because I had open heart surgery and was trying to take it easy. That was a big mistake. Neighbors use to stop and tell me how good the yard looked.. now they stop and ask what happened to it. When I called to complain I was treated as if I didn't know what I was talking about. I would never recommend this company to anyone..not even an enemy.
Description of Work: they were supposed to make the yard the best in the community. Now it looks the worst.

On top of the ineffective treatments, I called to suspend the service until a representative could come look at my lawn and tell me what could be done. Instead of anyone showing up to talk to me, they just treated the lawn again then refused to refund the money that was automatically charged to my AMEX. I disputed this charge and was refunded my money. This is one of the biggest wastes of time and money I've yet seen for a household expense. Avoid them at all cost. The only nice thing I can say about them is that they showed up to "treat" the lawn on the day and time they said they'd be there.
Description of Work: Had the lawn and tree treatment plans for 3 months. The lawn never improved, despite treatments every two weeks and I could never tell any difference. A real disappointment.

In October 2011 I moved from Centerville, OH to Miami Florida. I had used TruGreen Chemlawn services there for over 7 years and the services were consistent and accurate. My lawn (1/2 acre) always looked green like a golf course and I never had a weed problem. When I moved to South Florida I contacted TruGreen because of the wonderful service and experience I had received in Ohio. Fully understanding that the tropical climate here and the type of grass is different I knew that I would need consistent and better attention to my lawn. My house here is in a small zero lot. My front yard is maintained by the association but the back yard was to be maintained by TruGreen. Originally the sod was bad and full of weeds. They sent out a gentleman who at least came when he was supposed to and always knocked on the door prior to effecting the treatment. This was necessary as the back yard has a lock on the fence. Regardless, I was always home as I was the caregiver for my elderly mother. At least the first part of first year was ok as I had prepaid the year and at least the visits were consistent (same technician/same time). Later, the phone recordings would say they were coming and they never showed up. When they actually did, they would not notify me either telephonically and/or by knocking. To the extent that I ignored the recorded phone calls as they did not mean anything. They came sometime early this year, did not leave a sign on the front saying they had been here. I was home all of the time and they did not knock on the door and could not have sprayed the yard because the gate was closed. Next thing I receive a bill in the mail for approximately $55. I called them and the (954) telephone never answered and I spoke to the main office. Explained my discontent and full history and told them I no longer wanted their services. Sometime towards the end of July or August, a tech knocks on the door and again I said I cancelled the services and even emailed the main headquarters stating my cancellation. I left on a short trip in early September and find a posted flag on the front lawn. No note/report of what they had done. They couldn't have taken care of the property as they did not have access. Again I receive another bill. Again I stated that I had cancelled their services on several occasions. Spoke to their headquarters in early Oct 2013 and they told me it would be taken care of. I received another call trying to sell me services this past week. Just a very frustrating situation. I have never had this kind of super bad experience with a lawn service like this. Needless to say, I used to pay the same for my 1/2 acre property in Ohio as for my 600 ft of lawn space here. Not acceptable.

The salesman was very persistent and as my lawn guy wasn't really doing a good job with bugs and tree care, I decided to give them a try with the salesman saying that the lawn guy would come out a little more than every other month and the tree guy would do about the same. It should have worked out to about one treatment (either the tree or lawn) every month but it was more like both came out every month which was not what I wanted but I'm sure they just wanted to get another bill to their customers. As far as the lawn service, I didn't have any problem with the lawn before they took over or after although there were weeds growing along the swale that they never addressed or at least it was never cleared up. As far as the tree service, I had to fire this company as they appeared to be doing more harm then good. Their employees would come out and throw granular fertilizer down around most of the trees but wouldn't bother to move back any of the mulch so the fertilizer was effectively feeding the mulch and not the trees. SAGO PALM TREE IN MY FRONT YARD IS NOW DEAD from scale which they never noticed, brought to my attention, or did anything to treat, unless their treatment was designed to just kill the trees. The trees in my back yard started showing signs of stunted growth with short palm shoots and fronds, possibly because no fertilizer was getting to the trees because they were just lazily walking around throwing out granules and not inspecting the trees to see how they were doing or if there were any bug issues. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AS THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT TAKING CARE OF YOUR LAWN AND TREES BUT INSTEAD SIMPLY CARE ABOUT GETTING AS MANY BILLS TO YOU BEFORE YOU FIRE THEM. To be sure, I even called to complain that I thought they were doing a lousy job and some guy who I never saw before came out and said that he was in charge of my area and that I would be seeing a marked improvement with him working on my foliage. Never saw him again. Fired the company within 2 months in order to save my trees. AWFUL!!!!!!

It was very frustrating. I would call and they would say we will be out and I would be there and they never showed. They are frustrated as any other company. They never called or say they are going to be there. They make arrangements and don’t show. They show a couple of days later and they can’t service with the dogs in the yard so it is an ongoing problem. I tried to cancel six different times and they keep getting back when they actually decide to show up. If I would have got proper service it would have been fine buy they don’t do what they are supposed to.

They never completed the free insulation service they promised when I signed up. The lawn service largely doesn't show and now my grass is worse than ever. Last time they sprinkled just fertilizer which doesn't kill the grubs/bugs eating holes in my grass nor kill the rampant dollar weeds. I have called them several times because they leave messages they are coming and then don't show. I called them last week and they promised Thursday but didn't show. The tree and shrub service doesn't cover whitefly treatment and that cost be 300 dollars extra. If you are stuck with this service you need to be there when they come otherwise they don't do a thorough job. DONT's USE THEM and DON't PRE-PAY

I was a TruGreen customer for about two years. I have wanted to cancel for about a year (because I realized that it was a waste of money because the service does nothing), but I got busy and put it off. These two years have left me stunned that they could remain in business with their methods. In the interest of space, I will list the points that stand out in my mind to hopefully convey that if you want to add frustration and ridiculousness to your life, then definitely stop reading now and call TruGreen. My swale acts as a placebo because TruGreen did not service it (at my request). After 20 months of quarterly service, my swale looks better than my lawn. Go figure. My grass has constantly had a problem since TruGreen began, and with every treatment, a new "problem" arose. I have now been without Trugreen for six months, and my law looks better than it has in years. I paid $350 for aeration that they said I "needed" because the soil was "thatchy" - six months after I had gutted and sodded the whole lawn. I now realize that I was cheated and that accepting the aeration service so soon after a newly sodded lawn was my own fault for being uneducated. I got a new credit card number after my wallet was stolen, and the auto-pay was - naturally - declined. Well, instead of calling me, TruGreen ceased service and sent inflammatory letters to my home. What makes this IMPORTANT TO YOU is that lawns are unique in that a small lack of attention takes a disproportionate amount of time to ameliorate. The fact that I missed a $61 payment because my auto-pay got declined as a result of my wallet being stolen should not have resulted in rude letters and a cessation of service - when a simple phone call would have solved the problem. The phone situation is a disaster. I have spent hours at a time trying to get a manager or supervisor on the line. No need to explain; just try it yourself, but be sure to take plenty Advil beforehand. FYI, one of their tactics is to constantly blame you for everything. For example, over the course of 6 months, I was told that I was over-watering. So, at each visit, I did as instructed and reduced the watering regime. When I was down to one day a week, the service guy told me that I needed to water even LESS. When I told him I was down to one day a week, he left a ticket that said that I had UNDER-watered. I was like WTH, so I called, but I could not get a manager to help. It was like slamming my head against a wall. I could continue, but the point is that I give this company an ?F? because TruGreen fails in every measurable statistic except perhaps in their marketing. In the strongest words possible, I recommend you use another company for your lawn care. Please see my other reviews to know that I do not go around disparaging companies. If I could give TruGreen lower than an F, I certainly would. I hope this review has saved you a headache and prevented you from purchasing snake oil.

They were timely. They were professional. They did good work. My only complaint was that in order to increase the bill they came out more often than they had agreed to. They then kept calling to sell us other services even when we didn’t show any interest. We went through with it a couple of times and also talked to the manager who had agreed to never do that again but they did all that all over again that same season. So we are not going to use them anymore. They always said that they were going to stop calling us but they never followed through. They never stopped calling us or doing extra visits. I stopped using them about a year ago and will not use them in the future.

I am not sure what each visit cost, but for the spraying services, it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-60 dollars.I hired Trugreen because I had terrible bug problems in my yard, and I didn't want to deal with fertilizing. The price was not all that much higher than what I would have paid for chemicals at Home Depot, so I decided to give them a shot. I was dealing with spiral whiteflies, ordinary whiteflies, lawn grubs, two kinds of thrips, millipedes, chinch bugs, mealybugs...I can't even recall all of the pests. My trees had sooty mold from the whiteflies. Plants were dying because of the other pests. I had a serious lawn weed problem. A Trugreen rep came by and told me about their services, and I decided to give them a try. They sprayed my lawn, trees, and shrubs. They also did a $120 lawn aeration. They were supposed to fertilize everything, kill the weeds, and do pest control. After several months, the yard had responded well to the fertilizer, but the weeds showed no change at all, and the bug problems had gotten worse. A Trugreen tech who was spraying the lawn tried to sell me the shrub and tree treatment, pointing out the sooty mold problem. He didn't know his company was already working on it, and that their efforts had not succeeded. I gave up and bought imidacloprid, snail pellets, Amdro, and weed spray at Home Depot. I applied the weed killer to part of my yard, and the weeds Trugreen could not kill died within a week. That told me everything I needed to know. Maybe they were using the wrong chemicals. Whatever the reason, it was time to cancel. I have poured imidacloprid on the bases of the trees afflicted with whiteflies and mold, and they are improving fast. This took about three minutes per tree, and a $13 jug of Bayer imidacloprid (lasts three months) will treat a number of trees. I am still waiting to see results in the lawn. I would rather have someone else deal with this, but I could not get results from the pros. I am still planning to use Trugreen for soil aeration. I have no complaints about their professionalism, prices, or manners. They did try to sell me extra services, but they were not obnoxious about it. If their chemicals had worked, I would still be using Trugreen. Maybe they need to quit using Talstar and get something that works better.

I used this company for about 3 years and I admit that my lawn always looked green - especially compared to my neighbors. However, the weed control was poor. When I complained they always said "Wait a while - we are spraying for weeds this week". I complained that dollar-weed was taking over my lawn and the technician said "Oh, everybody has that!" I finally fired them about a year ago BUT they continue to call me several times a week to reinstate the service. Never again!

A "Senior Consultant" came on time and looked briefly at the front and back lawn. He gave me a verbal estimate for treating lawn for cinch & other bugs, & weed killing. He suggested 1 pallet of sod would be sufficient to fill in the front lawn. Probably several for the back lawn. I called several days later asking for the written (email) estimate as they advertise on their website. The "Senior Consultant" told me that he would send it but he then said that he had told me that both front and back lawns would need re-sodding completely - at odds with his verbal estimate. I never did receive the email estimate.

I've been using them for many years, even when I lived in other states. Last month I sent the check in, and it got lost. I was unaware. The day before they were supposed to service the lawn for july. They called me and asked why I hadn't sent in payment. Typically, I don't even wait for the invoice, I send the bill that's left in the door. I told them I sent the check in, but they decided not to show up for the scheduled spraying. I called the bank and they verified the check had not been cashed. It's going to cost $30 to stop payment on the check. The post office said the check was probably delivered, but they lost it. Because of the way they handeled the situation, I am going to be cancelling my service with Trugreen. I have religously paid for service early for the past 3 years. I find not performing service because of a lost check is poor customer service.

We had an additon built to our home so I stopped the applications but they came out at least two more times after I told them to stop. They removed the charges after I complained. On top of that, the techs wrote on their report application to our entire yard which was impossible since 3/4 of our yard was covered by a huge dumpster and construction site which could not have possibly been sprayed.
