Dale the salesman, was a true professional. He suggested the support beam be replaced back to the side support vertical beam spanning from the ground to the top of the cage. This was different than the competitors who only wanted to replace a six foot section back to the door. This would have given way to far less stability. Dale also provided insight on an unrelated medal porch leak issue. The repairman, Dave and Harry were equally professional and displayed a work ethic rarely seen today. They were punctual, coconscious and genuinely cared about the quality of their work. I couldn't be happier with Reliable Screens and would highly recommend their company.
Description of Work: A fallen tree branch came down on the corner of the pool cage. Dave and Harry replaced a 12 foot section of the (top) cage bar and replaced the screening in one side section.

I called to set up a quote. When I did not hear back, I called again and spoke to another representative who took care of setting up the appointment for a quote. Tom arrived as scheduled and provided a quote for the list of items I wanted done. The day I was contacted and informed that the crew was coming out happened to be the same day I was going to call for a follow up regarding when the job was going to be scheduled. I am pretty easy going but in retrospect I probably should have followed up the next day when I had not heard anything to clarify what I had been told about the scheduling. Tom and I did discuss that if his crew was available that they may be able to come sooner. Not a big deal for me as I did not need to be physically present for the work to take place. The two man crew were very nice and completed the job just fine. They worked late the first day and came back the next day and finished up. Still training my dog to use the new door, lol. I used the email contact feature from Angie's List to ask questions about concrete staining (another job I am having done with Reliable Screens) and the company was very responsive. I would use this company again.

Their Sales guy walk through each & every panel of the entire pool cage within less than 10 minutes. He was in a hurry & provided me an estimate for 285$. They showed up on the appointment date. Very punctual. Finally they did not fix two panels which were major re screen. These two areas were the main area that needs rescreen & have showed to their sales guy during estimate. They told me it is not in the estimate. So i called their office. She told me extra 90$. So i ended up paying 375$. So they ripped me off. I had estimate from other Angies list provider which was around 300$. But i went with this company based on review in Angies List. But ended up paying 75$ more. Be careful with this company when they provide estimate. Make sure you run through each & every time very carefully. Otherwise they will rip you off. Looks like this is their strategy of making money by giving an inaccurate estimate.

Response from Reliable Screens Inc
> At the time of the estimate, the customer and our representative > walked the enclosure. At that time, 1 roof panel and 3 lower wall > panels were identified as needing to be replaced. Additionally, we > identified 1 door that needed to be rescreened, along with 2 new door > kits and bug sweeps. The customer agreed with the assessment and > signed our contract. Prior to the work being started the customer > contacted us to see if Reliable Screens could work on his gutters. We stated that yes we could and advised him the charge for this repair. After some negotiating a price was agreed upon. On June 24, 2014 our installer went to the property to complete the work. While the installer was on the roof he identified one additional roof panel and two additional wall panels that needed to be replaced. > He advised the customer of the 3 additional panels and asked if the > customer would like those panels repaired as well. The customer then > contacted the office stating that he was an Angie List customer and if > we didn't give those panels to him for free he would write a bad > review. We could not wave the cost of the panels The customer > eventually agree to the additional cost for the 3 panels. Before > collecting payment we walked the job with the > customer. At that time the customer did not indicate any panels that > were not done. We actually ended up repairing 8 panels and the > customer was only charged for 7. We here at Reliable Screens take our > reputation very seriously and try to make every customer happy, however , threatening a company to obtain free services or products is morally wrong and we cannot respond to this as we take pride in our workmanship and always back up our work as a result. We value every customer and provide fair and competitive pricing on all products and services provided.

They were actually the only one that was willing to do the actual painting of the pool cage and guarantee it. I contacted several other cleaning companies and they can't repaint because my pool cage was aluminum. I actually kept track of the hours they spent over here and the number of people and it seemed reasonable for the total price. One of them came back, after the job was finished, to do an inspection and he found an issue with it then he had a guy out to take care of the problem. I also did an inspection before they left and I found an issue. The stainless steel were tied down with cables which they replaced and one of those that is anchored incorrectly. I pointed that out and they took care of it. They pretty much came when they said they would, when they would be back and kept me informed of what was going on. The workers were fine, polite and professional.

I contracted with Reliable to conduct an extensive overhaul of my pool cage, to include replacing my 4 inch gutter with a 7 inch super gutter, complete screw replacement, painting all aluminum and replacing all screens. Reliable performed all aspects of the project except painting, which they coordinated with another company specializing in that service. The project was completed in approximately a week. The projects stages needed to be closely synchronized, especially regarding the painting. Reliable served as the "lead" contractor and did a great job orchestrating the various work and keeping me informed. Their two-person screening crew was the last step and while they were somewhat slow and methodical, they seemed to do a good job and even worked on a Sunday to get the project completed as promised. A couple weeks after the project was complete I had some unrelated roofing work done. I cautioned my roofer to be careful with my new pool cage paint job and screens. The roofer, who happened to also be an experienced screener, asked me if I was happy with the work quality. When I answered yes he then pointed out several things on the pool cage roof that were not quite right. He showed me several places where the spline had not been secured in the frame channel, a few "bubbles" where the screens had not been pulled tight, and what appeared to be total absence of close trimming of the screens resulting in up to 1/2 inch of excess screen on all the panels. I immediately called Reliable and relayed these concerns. They were as upset as I was concerning the lack of quality work on the top of my cage, an area that cannot be inspected nor seen from the ground level. They sent another screener out within a few days who confirmed all the problems and was able to fix them all within about an hour. Reliable then followed up to ensure I was happy with the re-work, which I was. And they also informed me they had terminated the screening crew that did my original work because the shortcuts they took on the top of my cage were not acceptable and was well short of their performance standards. Overall, this was a challenging project but I am extremely satisfied with the final outcome. There were some initial quality problems but Reliable took aggressive and quick actions to fix them. I would use Reliable again for a project of this nature and they have my highest recommendation.

Well before the installer even finished we called the owner of unreliable screen and he said the screen may be wet and give it a few days to dry ( that day it was 90 degrees out duh!!) and said he himself would be right out to inspect the job, well he never showed until a few day later and stated ( yep this screen looks defective or was stored improperly and got wet.) he called his distributer who also said was coming to inspect and they never came out.well long story short they refused to replace the defect screen and put a lien on our house for a wapping $450 !This was after spending hundreds of dollars with them for other screen and gutter jobs. So we got in touch with the Better Business Bureau who assisted us in binding arbitration and settled to pay them $125 that was half the labor, also unreliable screen was given a replacement roll of screen from their supplier. ( supplier was not told screen was installed on roof ) we called supplier and they said they were surprised it lasted more than 6 months on the roof.beware this company will take your money any way they can, if your not satisfied they say your too picky and put the LEIN on you!! Here is a picture you be the judge
Description of Work: We had them do some other jobs for us with no complaints, the last install of Florida screen on the roof was defective, looked like stripes! Never told Florida screen is not recommend for use on roof. They had to replace other panels that burned up from sun damage also were on roof, if we had been advised not to use this product on roof we would have used another product.

Response from Reliable Screens Inc
We are currently moving forward with criminal charges against this customer for lying under oath and changing a legal document prior to an Arbitration hearing that occurred on October 3, 2013. They have been our customers for several years. We installed Florida Glass on their roof and, a year later, they called us stating the Florida Glass was turning yellow. We went to her home, took pictures, and contacted the distributor. The distributor stated the yellowing of the screen was because they either pressure washed the roof or the enclosure with well water or reclaimed water. The distributor stated that the screen was not burned from the sun. We advised the owners at that time that we would warranty the panels but recommended that they don’t put Florida Glass on the roof because the distributor does not warranty Florida Glass if it is placed on the roof. Both her and her husband stated that they understood but also wanted to add additonal 4 panels. So we warrantied the 10 panels in Florida Glass (no charge to the customer) and then added an additional 4 panels for $450. Once we installed all of the panels, the customers were not happy with the white strips. At no time did we or the distributor state that the material was defective or was stored improperly. We contacted the distributor again and they advised us that this is an inherent characteristic of this product and that the product does its job and would not be warrantied. After advising the customers of same, they stated that they would not pay us. At this point, we moved forward and placed a lien on their property. When the customer received the lien, they contacted an unlicensed contractor to remove the screen and put up a different kind of screen. This unlicensed contractor advised them the material was stored improperly. We bought the material the day of the job and took it straight to the job site. The customers then contacted the Better Business Bureau to make a complaint and both parties agreed to Arbitration. During Arbitration, these customers were accused of saying things that were misleading and not accurate. The Arbitrator admitted during the hearing that the pictures they were adding as evidence were misleading because the pictures weren’t of their home, but of somebody else’s home. We have the recording of the hearing. We were granted $150 and we removed the lien promptly. Interestingly, please note that this customer was not an Angie’s List member at the time and has been slandering our company since the Arbitration.

Rescreen was Ok but we had to keep reminding them of mistakes that they finally corrected. The BIG problem was the sanding and sealing of the pavers which was done october of 2011. 1. The employee that performs this job is very unprofessional and difficult to work with. 2. The sanding of the pavers was not applied correctly and ended up having gaps between the pavers. 3. The application of the sealer was applied when the pavers were wet or damp and the sealer will not stick when wet. 4. The application of the sealer was applied using two methods. It was applied using a paint type roller around the edge of the pool cage and pool, then sprayed on the remainder of the pavers. The problem is the roller method applies over twice the amount of the product as the spray method and then after a few months you have a thick coating around the edge of the pool cage and pool and the remainder of the sealer on the pavers has faded away. When asked to correct they acknowledged the problem but would only correct if I purchased additional sealer for $150. Then it was aplied the same inconsistant method because, I was told, it would take to much sealer. The rolling application method provides a better looking and longer lasting finish but requires more product which Reliable Screens and MR. pooler wants to short you on by spraying and then telling the client they will attempt to correct if the client will purchase additional product that should have been applied originally. BIG F!

Our worker that performed the sanding and sealing of the pavers in connection with the referenced job has been an outstanding worker and we have never, ever received a complaint pertaining to his work, nor his attitude, in the 3 years he has worked for us. We receive compliments on how nice and professional he is and that he is such a hard worker. This customer did not want to admit that it was his fault that the sealer has washed away because of his excessive pressure washing of the deck. He also used a wire brush on the deck, which further escalated the washing away of the sealer on his deck and he was advised not to do so. We advised him that the sealer was a seasonal product and wears away, depending on the weather elements and how much he pressure washed the deck. As his complaint was just 5 months since we originally performed the job, we advised him we would reseal the deck and asked him to purchase 5 gallons of the sealer and we would not charge him for labor. We then bought an additional 2 gallons to make sure it was coated evenly and performed the job without charging the customer for labor. Sand did come out from in between the pavers because the customer pressure washed his deck so much that he blew away the sand and seal of the pavers. The first time we sealed the deck, we had to bring in fans and lights to finish drying the pavers, only in the spots that did not get direct sun light. We made sure the 1st and 2nd time that the pavers were not wet or damp when we applied the sealer. We applied the sealer correctly and the entire deck was even. There were no spots that were thicker than others. We do not try to short our customers and that is why we bought additional 2 gallons of sealer. On the date of completion of the job, our worker and the customer walked around the outside of the cage to make sure the customer was satisfied and the customer shook his hand and said “Thank you for coming out here and handling this for me”. We haven’t heard from the customer since March, 2012, a year and a half ago. This customer waited NINETEEN MONTHS to write a review.

A small repair of one screen panel ended up adding additional repairs that did not need to be done. Dale found a lot of problems that no one else would notice....a minor repair of one panel turned out to be many panels.....$850..or the other option was to re-screen the entire cage area for $2250 and upgrade the quality of the screen for $4500. We were not pleased with Dale's efforts to make the job more than it was and to charge an outrageous price. We did not go with this company. We went with another company and the job was done for $170.

Response from Reliable Screens Inc
Reliable Screens does not attempt to coerce the customer into purchasing unnecessary repairs, our goal is to provide options to our customer that meet their needs, future considerations and budget concerns. The customer was provided three different options, the screen damage she was aware of, the repair of several screens which the service tech noted, will need to be repaired in the near future and the cost of rescreening the whole cage. Our service tech, who has been in this business for many years, is able to recognize areas that will be problems in the near future. Many times our customers have acknowledged that our expertise in this area has saved money in that repairs are made before they become nuisances. Reliable Screens has many customers that as their budget allows, we repair one screen at a time. We believe that allowing the customer to determine what their needs are and providing a range of solutions to that need is the best possible way to do business.

We received estimates from three companies (from Angie's List) including one from "Dale" from Reliable Screens. Once we had made the decision to have Reliable Screens do the work a date was set. We received a call that they would be able to begin the work a day earlier than scheduled, which was fine with us. Work was completed in two days but we had a few concerns so we requested that someone from the company come to our house to discuss them. "Dale" was sent back to our home and seemed defensive from the start. We began by telling him that we were very happy with the rescreening that had been done. But when we showed him the excessive damage had been done to the plants along one side of the exterior of the enclosure he did not apologize and stated that our plants were in the way of the ladder used to rescreen. Most of the bushes were broken at the base of the plant. There was also damage to the pool deck caused by pressure washing. Some pieces of the deck (acrylic over concrete) had come loose and were broken. There had also been water intrusion into our home by the sliding glass doors (dirt and water) caused by the pressure cleaning. The most upsetting part of this is that pressure washing the deck was never in our contract. The contract clearly states that only the enclosure was to be cleaned. I realize that there could be dirt left on the deck from cleaning the enclosure but that could have been removed by rinsing it off with a hose. We knew that the deck had cracks from settling which is why we did not want the deck to be pressure washed. Never once did "Dale" apologize for any of the damages that had been done. He was dismissive of our concerns and was in no way conciliatory. We feel that he is a poor representative of this company. We were provided a 5% Angie's List discount but were not provided the advertised $50 senior discount. Be forewarned that if you plan to pay with a credit card there is a 2% surcharge, contrary to the "no service charge" listed on the Angie's List entry for the company. Update 7/31/2013 Regarding the "gesture of good will" cleaning of our deck; it would have been nice to have completed cleaned the pool cage as contracted. The exterior was not cleaned (see photo). Regarding "the pressure provided in washing both the enclosure and the deck is not hard enough to cause the damage shown"; "Dale" informed me that the pressure washer provided between 2,500 - 3,000 psi and that a deck that had cracks like ours did could be subject to pieces coming off (as shown in the photo). The pool sweep is still collecting small pieces and wash off of cement from the pressure washing. Regarding "aggressively denied entry"; when "Dale" arrived to collect payment, we welcomed him into our house, walked through to our patio and went over our concerns. The mess inside the house from pressure washing the deck had been cleaned up. We told "Dale" our concern was water getting under our wood flooring and causing warping. Regarding "not honoring the contract with payment"; I asked "Dale" for the total that was owed (the contract that was completed had numbers and changes all over it in random places). He gave us a total, my wife wrote a check and then "Dale" informed us that he had given us the wrong total. I asked "Dale" to wait so that I could get a check to pay the correct amount. Regarding "The company does not know what additional steps that can be taken to satisfy this customer." As owner of the company (?) you never even called us. How about "I'm sorry that we were not clear about the extent of the damage to your plants along the side of your screened enclosure. I'm apologize for the damage done." or "I understand that there were some issues during the time that work was performed on your property. Please explain to me what happened." Today companies must differentiate themselves from their competitors through customer service. When there is an issue with work, service or product and company must address it. Think about every reciept that you get from stores these days. At the bottom is a customer satisfaction survey. Every company or retailer wants to know how to improve their service. Sadly Reliable Screens, Inc. does not appear to be one of them.

Response from Reliable Screens Inc
In response to the customers’ complaint, unfortunately when shrubs are planted extremely close to screen enclosures, it is necessary to push the shrubs out of the way to allow access for the screeners to make sure the screen is tightly inserted into the frame. The inspection completed after the complaint was received, indicated only minimal damage to the bushes and the bushes will return to normal within a short time. In regards to the pressure washing of the customers’ deck, it was provided to the customer as a gesture of good will by the installer. At no time did the customer advise the deck was damaged and no damage was noted by the installer after the completion of the wash. Had damage occurred while the pressure wash was being completed the installer would have immediately stopped and advised the homeowner, additionally, the pressure provided in washing both the enclosure and deck is not hard enough to cause the damage shown. The customer aggressively denied entry when asked to see what damage was incurred inside the residence and informed our representative they were not going to honor the contract with payment. The customer was made aware there was a signed contract; there would be penalties if payment was not received and payment needed to be made before the representative left the premises. It was noted the 5% discount had not been included in the original contract, so the representative provided the new payment amount. The company gives either the 5% Angies List credit or the $50.00 senior discount. In most instances the 5% is greater than the senior discount. Reference the 2% surcharge, this is not a service fee, this is a credit card fee required by credit card companies, we ask our customers to share this fee with us. The company does not know what additional steps that can be taken to satisfy this customer.

It was great from the estimate to completion. They came and did the work within the week. I did have a few issues after completion, but they came and fixed everything promptly. All the guys were nice, polite and professional.

We felt that the sales man, we did not care for him. We would go with another company for screens. The prices were higher than the other providers that I talked to. When I told him of our situation, why my husband was a little bit nervous about spending that much money for the job, his suggestion was to go ahead and charge it. I told him that my husband had lost his job about four months after we had moved down here; he rolled his eyes like he had heard that story too many times. We were interviewing and has three potentials and surely one would come through and we would have the work done. We just wanted to be careful working out the best price and getting the best service for the price. We just thought it was kind of coward that his solution to us was to charge it instead of working with us or being competitive. His quote was for somewhere around $2500 to $3000.
