ARC Chimney Sweeps

It went very well. They arrived on time, introduced themselves, and got right to work. They took precautions not to soil our carpet or floors, and did what I consider to be a thoroughly professional job. They even alerted me to a problem I had with a second chimney that they weren't even servicing. I would easily hire them again.

The first visit was to inspect my chimney and give me an estimate. They made an appointment for installation and payment at time of installation. As far as I know, all was necessary and replaced properly. They were very respective, and prompt with the contacts and installation. Other than I thought the cost was too much, I liked the company.

The provider took a couple of months to actually call to set up the appointment. They did eventually set up the appointment and showed up on time. I believe the problem in scheduling is that their home office is in Florida and they send their employees out on routes. The two guys that showed up did a very good job of cleaning the chimney and took great care not to spread ashes all over my house. I was a little disappointed in the attempt to oversell chimney work after they were done. I do highly recommend their chimney cleaning service, however.

We purchased a chimney sweep from Angie's List. When ARC came to complete the service they upsold us on a repair for our chimney. We bought it (over $2000), and the craftsmanship was poor. Additionally, they left a huge stain on our roof (among other problems). When we asked them to fix the stain (that is right on the front of our roof and completely visible), they said we would have to purchase the solvent and they would apply it to our whole roof so it matched the section that they had stained. No thanks on that one, guys. Also, their customer service was abysmal when we asked them to fix the problems they created. Oh, and they tried to sell us on a particular type of insert that would cost quite a bit of money. We contacted another chimney/fireplace service (to fix the mess that ARC made) and they informed us that the insert ARC suggested would be dangerous in our fireplace (ARC never told us that--they just clearly wanted our money). All in all, we are very unhappy with ARC and I cannot help but feel that they have some shady business practices. Would not recommend.

They suggested that I do other work outside of what I'd purchased; the price was very high.

They carefully moved objects and furniture away from the fireplace and kept the area clean by throwing down a tarp around the fireplace. They worked efficiently and took pictures of the stack top and vent and showed me the defects in the firebox. THey printed out a complete description of the inspection and results and told me that we should not burn a fire until certain repairs were made. I had a complete estimate before they left. A follow-up call came the next day. They were extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend them to anyone.

It went fine. The person was very knowledgeable and he gave me some pointers on taking care of the chimney. He also gave me a quote on the chimney repair. He just said it needs some repair work done. The first time they got the wrong address. They came to my home address instead of my rental property. It is a very good company and I highly recommend them. He was thorough. I had a hard time getting with them because Angie's List didn't give them my number. There were some complications there. He was very punctual.

The gentleman that came to my house was on-time, thorough and very neat. He took great care in explaining the issues with my chimney and provided a well itemized quote for repair.

Arrived on time, began immediately, and thoroughly cleaned out our chimney stack. Gave us good advice on how to keep from gunking up the stack in future, and gave us recommendations on future maintenance.

Unfortunately, their safety check revealed that my chimney and fireplace were unsafe and recommended some expensive repairs. I'm glad they found that out before we have a fire or something, but I won't be able to afford the repairs or use the fireplace anymore.

The sweep process was done with utmost care. They also provided some things I should watch and/or replace.

I bought a deal and got contacted within a day for scheduling an appointment. They gave me a 2 hour arrival window. The day of they texted me to let me know they will be arriving towards the end of the 2 hour time frame. They were still in time and I appreciated the heads up. The 2 of them were friendly and courteous, they did their job, one of them on the roof the other at the fireplace. They laid out a big sheet in front of the fireplace to cover up the carpet. They left without leaving any mess behind. That's always a plus, especially since I am picky and notice every little spot or dirty fingerprint. After the job was done he sat down with me and took the time to explain all the answers to my questions I had. Although I was interested in new gas logs I didn't purchase any from them nor did I get pressured into buying a set. This is common with the deals I purchased in the past. They are trying to make up for the money they lost on the deal and try to sell you extra service or upgrades. I understand that approach but most of the time they put pressure on you. I didn't feel that at all this time. Overall I was satisfied with the service I received and would use them again for my chimney needs.
