It started off okay, when the salesman Joe seemed to be very nice and explained what I needed and they could even be here the next day! It was all down hill after that! First, the tech showed up almost 3 hours late. Then, after complaining out loud for 3 hours, told me there was no way the unit I was promised, was going to fit! After a lot of back and forth with a supervisor, I was told they were going to put in an "upgraded" system, at no cost to me, but they wouldn't be able to come back until the next day! To compensate sleeping in 90 degree heat without air, the supervisor told me they would buy me dinner. The next day, the tech shows up with a helper. They both were a joke! The lead tech worked for 15 minutes at a time, and then took 15 minute smoke breaks. His helper was on Facebook on his phone almost the entire time! They finally get the unit in, and then when they were trying to program the thermostat, they didn't know what they were doing, and hit a wrong button, supposedly making the thermostat have to be sent back to the manufacturer! So, after 2 long days without air, they told me they had to go to Home Depot and get me a "better" thermostat! They came back with a $30 Honeywell one, instead of the smart one I was promised, and told me that it was top of the line! By this time I had had it!! I called the supervisor again, told him how enraged I was that I wasn't getting anything that I had been promised or paid for, and he told me he would knock $200 off the price, and was putting a check in the mail right then. He also was going to have a new tech come back the following week to put in a smart thermostat. That finally happened on the Friday, after having to call back twice to find out when they were coming! Over the weekend, I went outside to look at the unit. I paid $7000 for a 17 seer unit, as I was told that was the most efficient for my home. When I looked at the sticker on the side of the unit, it says it's a 14 seer!!! Those are much less expensive, so I feel I have been completely taken advantage of! To add insult to injury, I have still not received my gift card for dinner, or the $200 check that was promised, 10 days later! I will be contacting the owner to let them know what a terrible experience this has been, and to try to actually get what I paid for! I would not recommend to anyone!!

In this instance, you originally purchased a 17-seer Rheem system that would not fit in the closet of your home. The reason why it took so long with the supervisor was because they were trying to find a 2-stage system that would fit in the closet and Rheem did not have any options. This is why you were upgraded to a Lennox 2-stage system (XC16S036-230) Elite Series with the Lennox gas furnace and case coil. That night, the service manager offer to pay for your hotel and dinner because we knew the weather was 90 highs / 77 lows and you refused stating that you did not want to leave your cats. He then offered you $200 off your total bill, which was deducted immediately from the amount you paid verses the amount of the original contract. The Thermostat that was on the job was a EcoNet communicating thermostat that communicated with the Rheem system, so to hold you over they purchased a basic thermostat at Home Depot (Since the supply houses were closed) which is why we returned at a later date to install the smart thermostat that you wanted. Again, we truly do apologize for the bad experience that you had, and we hope that we are able to prove to you that we do care about our customers and customer service, if you ever have any problems with your system, we will be right over. I took the deal of $ 39 for cooling tune up. The technician was professional, friendly and came to my house in the first appointment option that i asked for. They offered an extra heating tune up service for $ 10.95 more, and i accepted. The cooling system needed two pounds of refrigerant, one was free and i had to paid the second one for $ 45.00. Total of cooling and heating tune up was $ 94.95.

I'm extremely apprehensive of service people. Often they are more interested in selling a replacement rather than fixing what's existing. I called Service Star and they were very professional from the initial appointment to the final instillation. The service technician arrive when he said he would and his diagnosis mirrored A/C checks I've gotten before and I knew that the unit was on it's last legs, and it was dead now. I was so pleased that I was able to buy a new unit for less than the estimates I've had before at zero percent financing for 18 months . It was installed the very same day and the installers were FABULOUS! Since they were unable to perform the tune-up on the old unit (the $45 service purchased from Angie's list) I requested a refund. They issued a check the very next day . I could not have wanted my experience to be any more perfect. This is certainly a professional organization. I'm a very happy and satisfied customer.

Well, I was disappointed that he found the bottom half of my unit so corroded, he highly recommended adding a UV light at $375. I'm on a senior fixed budget, so it was very worrisome to me, but he seemed to know what he was doing and the alternative was, he said, that I would have to replace the unit very, very soon. He was great, but I do not understand why the other air-conditioning companies through Angie's list, who have come to do the same thing over the last three years, did not recommend that sooner. I have a UV light in the top portion, which is nice and clean. The only explanation I can think of is that the previous service folks never opened the bottom portion of the unit. Since I had already paid for the service, he deducted $50 from total price. I was very pleased with the young man who came. He explained everything in detail, was kind, professional, and seemed very knowledgeable.

GREAT! Louis came out at 6PM! I had just called that same afternoon at 4PM. He was instructive and answered my questions in layman's terms. He educated me on the what and the why of the issues with my AC system and air handler. Because I am a tenant, he helped with noted I needed to present to the homeowner - who is out of the country. He's friendly and well natured. Super pleasant and he cleaned the area where he worked. He didn't try to upsell me on anything. I especially appreciated that he was about creating a customer for life, and not just a one and done. I'll definitely call Service Star again for my own home, and absolutely would refer them. I will also explain to my homeowner how he approached the testing of the home and didn't pressure me for anything, but informed and educated me. I know that she will appreciate that and will call them when she returns. We all appreciate being treated fairly and above board. I can tell Louis loves his job, and that makes me want to request him again!

Mike came out and beat the quote of all others. I had them install dedicated returns in all rooms, and they welcomed my input for the best locations for the delivery vents and dedicated returns. Upon accepting their quote, they came out the very next day and finished the install the day after that. Because they were able to start work the very next day, I didn't have time to dry wall the cabinet space for the air handler. No problemo. They went to the local DIY store and got a few sheets of dry wall and they put it up. Not only that, when I expressed a concern about not being able to paint the inside of the cabinet space after they installed the air handler, they went and painted the dry wall as well. I now have a 4 ton unit and an energy efficient system to keep the house nice and cool. Everything was first rate. I am very happy I chose them to do the work.

Everything is working great and they do a service call within 6 months to check that everything is in working order.
Description of Work: I needed a new air conditioner for a mobile home. We called Billy at AC Pros and he sent someone out to look at the old one. He gave us all of the options and we decided not to spend good money t fix an old AC unit. They kept up with us and had the new unit installed as soon as we wanted it. They were very polite, helpful, friendly, and interested in all of my questions (I usually have a ton of them) . Something that impressed me was how the gentlemen that came out to the house talked to kindly about his boss and what a wonderful company it is to work for. I can't say enough about what a wonderful company and people that we dealt with. I think everyone will have the same experience. Terrific!!!!

Purchased an $89 value Groupon for a 'free A/C tuneup" They spent 20 min total at the house and just said "you have leaks, let me write up an estimate to replace the A/C unit. $5400." What nonsense! They did no actual 'tuning up.' This was nothing but a sales pitch and to tell me how horrible my unit was and I needed to buy a new AC unit immediately before summer or I would REALLY be in trouble. He was in and out in 20 minutes - and only because I asked him several questions. Nearly half of the time was spent writing up a work order for a new AC system. Hired another HVAC company who came over later in the day. For $75, he... - Calibrated my thermostat. This was actually my biggest issue! - Found an issue with my UV light and fixed it - Spent 10 minutes explaining the very minor leaks and why there was absolutely no need to replace my AC system. Like a 12-year old car with minor oil leaking. - Inspected every accessible part of my blower and condenser. - Cleaned my coils - which weren't bad - since I maintain them myself. I was so happy - that for an additional $60, I had him top off my freon - which guy #1 should have done as part of a "tune up." I was down 1/2 pound. I don't doubt that others have had great experiences with this company. I just think I had a very poorly trained AC tech who worked on commission. When I asked questions, I got dismissive answers. Gotta say... I don't care for that, either. I will reach out to the owner and update my review based on their response. Again - I can only hope the owner is not aware of this - and will correct it. I'm sharing my story in hopes that other people will take pushy salesperson's advice with a grain of salt and get a second opinion. Don't be strong-armed into a sale you don't need.

I am sorry to hear about the experience that you feel that you had with our technician when he came to your home for a $49 groupon that you pre-purchased. The technician that came to your home, not only has over 25 years experience in this business, he is NATE certified, has a EPA license. So he is not a poorly trained AC technician. Furthermore, he drives a marked company van with a GPS/Tracking device that tells us pretty much everything down to if he is wearing his seat belt. He is a hourly paid employee that does not get commission for anything. He spent 72 minutes at your home which is documented by our system. Upon arrival, he was told that the upstairs system wasn't cooling properly. The technician took off the panels of the air handler, and showed you the rotten evaporator coil (Which he took pictures of and we have documented in your file) performed a leak test on the coil right in front of you. The system is a 12-13 year old mixed matched system. The Air Handler is a Carrier, the condenser is a York, both are R22 refrigerant that is fazing out by the EPA due to it depleting the ozone layers. You have a water sprayer (mister) set up so when the condenser is running the water is cooling the compressor in order to keep this system working. The AMP draw was 16 amps on a 3 ton system, a normal 3 ton system would pull around 9 amps. The technician gave you estimates of replacing the evaporator coil or replacing the system. You asked the technician if he would just add R22 to the system, he advised you that we will NOT do that when we know that there is a R22 leak. There is a reason they are fazing out R22 refrigerant, and we do not feel it's ethical or good business practices to add R22 when we clearly can see it's leaking out from the rusted coil that you do not want to repair or replace. We tried to reach out to Mr. [Member Name Removed] and offered to refund him his money ($49), we asked that he remove his review since it is not factual and even his friend advised him that his system is in poor condition. Customer refused stating that his "friend" is the other HVAC company that came out, and this is his consumer review on our company. We advised him that the company that came out and added R22 to a leaking system should practice better business practices because very rarely will any licensed HVAC company add R22 to a rusted, mismatch system that is obviously leaking refrigerant. To say that its like a 12 year old car that has leaks and it's okay to continue to run it, would be basically condoning car dealers to sell cars with bad exhaust problems polluting our air. So again, as the owner of Service Star, we refuse to pollute our environment with R22 freon. Even though the customer signed the invoice (satisfied with work performed) We offered the customer his money back, he refused.. There is nothing more we can do to make this customer happy!

Were told it would take 4-5 hrs to install; but tech was still here 9+ hrs. Six weeks later and two thermostats later, it would still blow hot air during the low A/C cycle. Finally fixed by Tech named Matt (so only ask for him if you go with this company). Problem was incorrect wiring and wrong type of thermostat for the unit purchased.

I am sorry to hear that you had problems with your new system. As I understand, when the system was installed a Honeywell 5000 Programmable thermostat was installed, which operates the system when programmed correctly. The system was installed January 31, 2017 and we never received any calls that the system wasn't operating properly until March 6, 2017 when we sent another technician by to check it and was told that you wanted a NON-programmable thermostat installed but the system was working and operating to specs. At that time, he had a non-programmable Honeywell thermostat, but you requested a Lennox non-programmable thermostat, March 9, 2017 we sent Matt to change the thermostat to a Lennox non-programmable and as you said, the system is working and operating fine. We do apologize for the problems that you have had, we understand when having a new system installed you want and deserve everything working perfectly without having any issues. Seem there was a miscommunication in which type of Thermostat you were requesting, we are happy to hear that the issue is resolved. If you have any problems, please do not hesitate to call.

They sent out Tom who did a great job. He was the kinda guy that wanted to do a great job and take no short-cuts. Our house is from the 60s and the indoor AC closet was a small hole in the wall with a metal gate, he updated this to a closet for us that he fashioned himself and it looks SO much better! They beat everybody else's price for the same size unit and it works great.

Technician (Perry) came out and from the very beginning of the visit - he stood in front of the air handler and began saying things like "wow, I'm not even sure where to begin" and told a whole story about how my home was FULL of black mold. Note: he did not test the mold or even go up into the attic to look at vents. He also claimed the condensation pump was broken, but later a second technician simply added water to the pump and it was working perfectly. He pointed to the inner lining of the handler and the dirty coils describing everything as "very serious" and "hazardous to my health" and even told me I should "delay moving into the home" until the mold issue was remedied. By remedied he meant a full replacement of A/C equipment inside and out, as well as all new vents throughout, for an estimated cost of $6,500. I was seriously scared and delayed my movers and painters based on all this feedback, but once I got a second licensed A/C company in the home, they told me that was all simply exaggeration. The A/C needed top to bottom cleaning and was mostly dusty and mold - both normal for an un-maintained unit. Side note: the second company cleaned my A/C top to bottom and it's working just fine to date. A few things struck me as odd with Service Star's tech. 1)The story of black mold didn't add up - the home didn't have evidence of mold/black spores on vents or walls 2) He never discussed a plan where we simply clean the equipment (instead of full replacement) 3) He shared that if I could not afford the work, the company offers financing, but then insisted he needed to be present while my application for financing was submitted. I found this to be seriously doubtful and was not comfortable sharing my SSN and income data in front of the technician when he has nothing to do with Synchrony Bank's evaluation of my application for credit. Although the company overall has decent ratings, I was unhappy with the technician's evaluation and would not roll the dice with them again.

Great! The same day two techs returned and did a nice clean installation. The new unit works great and the first month my power bill was significantly lower.
Description of Work: My 10yr old A/C unit was not cooling properly and I knew it was going to take some work. When they came out they explained to me the problem in detail and offered several options on repair or replacement. Not once did they ever recommend something I didn't need. No pressure, no upselling.

I called service star because my air conditioner wasn't cooling and I spoke to a really nice girl named Amanda who tried helping me fix it over the phone, she sent a technician over to my house right away named Tom. He got to work right away and explained everything along the way, he found a faulty drain switch and replaced it and my air conditioner has been working wonderfully since! Total was less than a $100, service was fast, efficient, and affordable. I love service star!

Excellent service. I called later in the afternoon with my air conditioner not cooling. They were not able to schedule an appointment that day because of the hour but scheduled me for as soon as they could the next day. The woman on the phone then walked me through how to unclog our drain line, to see if that could help in the meantime. The next day I received a courtesy call to let me know they had an earlier cancellation than my scheduled appointment, so they were able to come earlier than expected. By this time, our air conditioner had started cooling again (after we followed the steps they gave us to unclog the drain line). The technician took a look at our system, but told us we had actually fixed the problem ourselves. He also noticed an issue with our drain pipe installation that he said would cause frequent clogs and backups. We have had a lot of problems with our air conditioner and it seems to quit working every couple of months. We have had several companies out to fix it, but this was the first person to notice the issue of the drain pipe being incorrectly installed. This observation does seem to explain all of the problems we have had with our unit. He explained that we can keep limping along with this system as long as every few weeks, we clean out the drain line as they explained, but the only way for an actual fix would be to uninstall the system, move it up, and correctly reinstall it with the drain pipe installed correctly. He did not pressure us to do this immediately. I asked for a quote for this service, and for just getting an entirely new system and drain pipe. He gave me both. Then because he did not actually have to fix anything for us, he did not even charge us for the service. I've never before dealt with a company that doesn't charge you just for showing up at your door before they even do anything. He spent time explaining how the drain line worked, and why a blockage caused the system not to cool. Now we know what to do the next time we have this issue, and we know how much money we need to save to fix our larger issue in the future. (The cost, by the way, was $300 cheaper than what another company charged us to pull out the whole system and reinstall it for another issue without ever noticing anything about the drain pipe being installed incorrectly and therefore not correcting that issue). I will definitely be using this company again and would recommend them to anyone looking for quality, knowledgeable, and honest technicians.
