RUN as fast as you can away from these people. If you're looking for service, you will not find it here. They sold us a new unit in January of 2020. Said we had to get a new one and that we had black mold (which we found out later we did not). Our unit is only 2.5 years old and in the past two months, the capacitor and now the TXV Valve have gone out in it. This latest experience with this company was a real doozy. Our AC went out on a Sunday. We called Service Star Air Conditioning & Heating to have someone come out. They sent someone out only to discover it was a TXV Valve on a basically new unit. The part was under warranty but the LABOR charged by these people was going to be $450.00. I hope you never have the absolute joy and privilege of speaking with Donnie if and when you do happen to call this company. This guy was absolutely the rudest person my wife and I have EVER dealt with from a service company of ANY kind. Talking over my wife, getting angry with me because I expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that our brand new unit that THEY sold us seemed to be breaking at record speeds in the middle of a Florida summer. Because I was upset at the situation (we also had house guests, 2 cats, and a five-year-old in the house), he said "you're screaming on deaf ears, lady" and was going to refuse us service. I had plenty of guests in my house that confirmed I was in no way screaming. I was being firm and clearly (and rightfully upset) but definitely not screaming. He clearly just didn't like a woman standing up to him and questioning him. My wife was trying to work out a payment plan with him and he told me that because of the way "I was talking to him" that he didn't believe we would pay him and so he wasn't going to work with us. No empathy, ZERO emotional intelligence, NO clue about how to treat customers, and, if you ask me, has an issue with women in general. But I digress. Since it was Sunday and nothing was open, we were told they couldn't get the part until Monday so we couldn't get anything serviced that day so the next day (Monday) the service guy had to go and locate the part. Donny gave us a call in the afternoon of the following day and told us they couldn't get the part and it wouldn't be available until August 27th. This was on August 1st so we were looking at one month in the dead summer of FLORIDA without AC....Then, he offered some band-aid fix that he said had a 50/50 shot of working and would cost us an additional $89 on top of the $450 he claimed we still had to pay him. The worst part about getting this news is that he sounded very happy to be giving us the news and suggested we just try and find someone else to service our air conditioner - in an arrogant tone. Well, we did. The KINDEST, the most service-oriented company that likely has the part we need on hand and IF NOT, offered to give us a cooling unit to keep us cool in Florida until the part comes in. So in a nutshell, I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone EVER. There are WAY better companies out there that value their customers. In fact, I plan on leaving an honest terrible review on every platform I can find, contact the BBB, see if there's any licensing entity I can report them to, and tell everyone I know never to use them. Buyers BEWARE of this company and its shady practices. They will take you for a ride, enjoy watching you suffer for it, and tell you it's not their problem...and especially watch out if you have the nerve to express your dissatisfaction with a unit THEY sold you that's breaking down after 2 1/2 years. They will treat you like absolute garbage and basically tell you it's not their problem and leave you stranded, broke, or both. And by the way, we aren't the first to give a review about faulty systems they pushed people into buying and then overcharged for labor on warrantied parts. Do your research. They've done this to many, many people. Honestly, the best thing that happened with them was when Donnie suggested we find someone else to help us...because now, someone actually IS going to help...with professionalism....and amazing customer service. RUN.

Quite disappointing that you would come back two years after your system was installed and come up with a bogus review.. You had a 2003 Tempstar system when we installed your new system in January 2020. You called our answering service Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 2:39pm. By 4pm we had a technician to your home and diagnosed that you have a bad TXV Expansion Valve. You were very polite, and asked could we work a payment plan with you because you could only afford $100 now, and the balance of $350 in two weeks. We normally do not do this, but we agreed because we felt bad for your situation. Your wife proceeded to get on the phone screaming and yelling how you shouldn't have to pay for service because the system is brand new.. (2.5 years old and NEVER had maintenance, at least with our company)- Monday morning we went to the manufacturer and found out that they do not have any TXV's for your system, and it could be weeks before any were shipped in. As you can imagine we have had to pivot due to several circumstances beyond our control that are directly attributed to the pandemic. As we continue to encounter a HVAC supply shortage, and higher than usual demand for service. This is why we advised you to contact another Rheem dealer to see if they had this part on-hand and could provide you with service. So why you would come here an attack our company for providing you with weekend/after hour service, making a trip to the manufacturer and giving you advice on better options for YOU, is beyond me.. You paid us $0 for all of this. We will note your account to make sure we do not provide any further service to your home as if you read the back of your invoice that you signed we will have our legal council contacting you.

Louis was great! He had my issue diagnosed in about 5 mins. His company was very responsive and punctual. Louis even spent some extra time with me to help me diagnose small issues in the future. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again when I can.

I had Service Star come out to service my AC, and they recommended I get a new unit. I agreed, but told them my maximum price for the job. They agreed to do the job for that price. Everything went well until I was notified AFTER they installed the AC that I need new breakers. While I understand they are not certified electricians and cannot do electrical work, the honest way to approach this would have been to tell me ahead of time that I would need to spend a couple hundred more dollars to have an electrician change my breakers. Unfortunately, I believe the technician withheld that information to get a sale, because he knew if he told me more work needed to be done I wouldn't have been able to afford the job. Now I am stuck with an AC unit which I cannot afford to get the correct breakers for, and they have been unwilling to help me in any way. Just very disappointing since I've used them before to service my unit and paid a lot of money to have them upgrade my AC, only to be treated like this. I recommend anyone reading this find another company that has more upfront and honest pricing. I have attempted to speak with supervisors but nobody ever calls me and the only thing that happens is the tech sends me a text saying he can't do anything about it. Very disappointed, and hopefully the owner or someone reads this and trains the staff to prevent this from occurring to future customers.

I do apologize that there was a misunderstanding between you and the technician regarding what would be included with a new system installation. It is quite clear on the front and backside of the invoice that you signed that we are not licensed electricians, and we CANNOT change your breakers. We do advise customers that they can change their own breakers pretty inexpensively (under $30) and change themselves, but we cannot as our license and insurance doesn't cover this. Once again, I do apologize for the misunderstanding and we do appreciate your business.

Buyers beware. I purchased a new Rheeem unit from Service Star and Heat in May of 2019. It is now October, only 1.5 yrs into my purchase and the fan motor has gone out. When I called in for “Warranty” service I was quoted $475.00 to have unit repaired. According to the manager Luis, this is the standard fee for repair. The fee is not based on time at site and apparently includes transit time for technician to pick up part which is about an hour away. My system was diagnosed and quoted without a service technician ever examining my unit. When I asked if I should expect this problem to occur again Luis stated that I should invest in surge protection as the units are very delicate and prone to these types of issues. I have filed a formal complaint with the finance company stating that Service Star and Heat seem to be selling defective products. Please do your research before you purchase any product or services from this company. Also visit Better Business Bureau we sure to see additional complaints filed and unresolved against this company.

We understand that repairs on a newer system can be frustrating. The $475 fee covers the diagnostic that the technician provides by surveying the complete system. Any repairs are quoted by the technician and performed only after your approval, Time and Expenses going to get the warranty part and then returning the warranty part, the technicians time installing it. etc.. The technician did recommend a tune-up to keep the system operating to specs as one hasn't been performed since its installation. Please contact us if we can be of further service and we strongly recommend regular annual maintenance (as is recommended by the manufacture) to keep this problem from arising again. We bought a home that unfortunately had 2 units over 20 years old. We received a letter and coupon from Service Star for annual maintenance (addressed to previous owner). We had not been having any issues with our AC but thought maintenance was pretty important, especially with summer coming. Louis came out on Tuesday, April 28th and did a thorough inspection of our units. He was very friendly, engaging and we felt confident and convinced that he was quite knowledgeable in this field. Turns out there were big issues with our unit including the huge mold issue, coil issue, fire hazard issues, etc. (yikes!). Our units were working pretty hard and getting pretty hot and there was zero efficiency going on. Basically, the life of our units had come to an end. We opted to replace the units and he gave us a pretty good deal which included upgrading the digital thermostats (pretty awesome!). My husband is a vet so there was a nice discount I appreciated how he explained everything to us and outlined what replacing the units entailed. We were pleasantly surprised that they had the units available and could start the work that day! There was a two-person crew that came in around 3:30 and was completely done and cleaned up by 10:30 pm. No small project. They were professional, competent and worked diligently to completion. We were quite impressed and what a big difference in the quality of air! We can say enough good things about Service Star, we definitely recommend them for all HVAC needs. GREAT job Service Star. Triple-A rating!!

5+ STAR SERVICE!!! Our A/C went out at 10pm and I made one phone call to Service Star they diagnosed the issue over the phone and told me what I needed to do in order to have our unit run efficiently overnight. Our coil was leaking and unit was frozen. Since our unit was 10 years old we opted to replace the entire unit including exterior and interior with new WiFi digital thermostat. They walked us through the most energy efficient option for our home. They came out early today and installed the new unit! Talk about SERVICE! WOW! The unit was installed in under 4 hours and my house began cooling instantly. WHAT a difference this unit makes and we are super impressed with how quite it is. We are THRILLED! THANK YOU SERVICE STAR!

Had service star Air & heating replace a 5 ton and 2.5 ton and two air handlers that had gone bad. Louis Ratti told me it would take his crew about 8 hours to completed the job from 9:am to 5pm. The crew got there on time and started to work right away. They were professional, courteous and proficient. There was no guessing to what they had to. They were good I say better than good. By 2:30pm they had both systems up and running and the work area clean and spotless. Not only that, I asked if they would connect my phone to both thermostat and with out hesitation they did it. We received a letter addressed to previous owner that our AC unit was due for annual maintenance. We didn't have any issue with the AC, but thought we should have someone check the AC unit before Summer comes. Anyway, AC tech came to check AC on Saturday morning and said the AC coil was rusted and produced mold which is really bad for our son's health especially when his bedroom was right by the AC. He then checked air temperature and said that air coming out from the vent should be 20 degrees less than the air going in, but ours was not. This means that the AC compressor was working very hard. He said that I would be lucky if this AC unit still work this summer. After explored different repair options, he suggested that we replace the unit. He was nice & friendly and convincing that our AC is old and should be replaced. He also said that he was going to stop by and check during the installation. We had the new AC unit install right on the same day around 4 pm and completed around 8 pm. We thought we were going to have the tech checked the temperature of air going in and air coming out for us, but the guys left right after they packed up. When I called back two weeks later to ask the same guy, who sold the unit to us, if he could come back to check if the new unit has fixed all the issues he had addressed during his visit including the temperature of air in/out, he told me the new unit should have fixed all the issues. And, If I really need them to come out to check, I will need to pay for service fee. Basically, I should have asked the install techs before they left. I trusted this company to replace my unit on their first visit. I immediately felt that I have made a mistake replacing the AC. Don't change your AC unit unless there are really issues with your AC. Doesn't matter how bad they made it sounds, get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Although the guy I spoke with after the new AC unit has been installed was the same guy that sold me the new unit, he sounded totally different the 2nd time. I am not only regret replacing the AC, but I also regret doing business with this company.

We have no record of you calling the office after the install, requesting someone come back out and check the new system for proper operation. The system was installed on 2-22-20 and passed the county inspection on 3-06-20. I can assure you the county building inspectors check to make sure the system is operating properly before they will pass the inspection. We are a small family owned and operated company. I (the owner) am a single mother with ten children and understand that the HVAC can cause health issues to our children and that is our first priority to make sure everything is operating properly for all our customers.. If you would please call the office and ask them to send someone back over just to double check everything for you, we would be happy to do this free of charge of course. Since your system is still under manufacturers warranty we did not want to compromise your warranty since we are not Trane dealers. Several problems identified with old HVAC unit. Ended up buying new unit, which I am satisfied with. However, when installed, the technician did not install an upgraded circuit breaker switch required for the new unit. It took three weeks to resolve this problem after purchase.

Technician Mike arrived on time (1:00pm), diagnosed the problem and gave several options to remedy. Given the age of the my system (13 yrs) I opted to replace the entire unit. Mike coordinated with his installation team (Matt and Billy) who arrived by 3:00pm and had the new system installed before 6:00pm the same day. All members of the Service Star team were courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional.

I felt like they did a very good job. When my husband came home that evening it was the first time in months he did not cough all evening. The house smells good and a LOT of dust was removed. We will hire them again, it was well worth it.

Donnie is the man! thank you very much for your help over the phone! I had an issue of no air flow from my blower motor and he help me trouble shoot the problem. Im pretty skilled and i was able to replace myself!! I definitely recommend Service Star!!
