Ferran Services & Contracting

It took four repair calls to get it right, but kudos to Kelly at Ferran! I am convinced he could take apart and rebuild an a/c unit and he is the service technician you want when there is a complex a/c issue. The first two calls to Ferran residential a/c were made over several months beginning 7/7 and misdiagnosed. But because we had so much invested into them, I continued to call for follow-up. Follow-up being a key issue here, because getting Ferran to follow-up....well, they let the ball drop more than a few times. My frequent calls didn't help and they did not honor their commitment to their Residential Maintenance Plan which is supposed to provide customers with priority scheduling and a 15% discount. The $199 I spent to join the plan was a waste as far as that was concerned as I only received $144 in discount on over $2800 in repairs. (Not all repairs qualify) Most importantly, Kelly figured out what was malfunctioning. However, Ferran didn't schedule him to complete the job. After much complaining on my part and assistance from Angie's List, Ferran finally followed up. Kelly is knowledgeable, professional and honorable...not one to let a customer down, but that is not true of all the staff at Ferran. Some of their junior technicians were really not equipped to handle the repair in the first place and each service call was almost $300. For which they did the typical things like telling you to change the settings on your thermostat. Surprise...that didn't work! I used Ferran several years ago and only called them again based on the Angie's List ratings which is why I am writing this review. Also noticed they are running tv commercials and I can tell you that talking to a "real person" only works if they put your info into the system (they dropped me twice and there was no record of my calls even though I was promised same day service). They may have 7 trucks in operation, but it only matters if one actually shows up at your house. Then there is the issue of diagnosing the repair properly. Then you have to hope they will actually come back to fix it. And as for the discount offered by the Residential Maintenance Plan, I was told that there is not room in the computer entry to make note of it so the service tech will know to offer it. Why not? *In response to Ferran's long response to my review: Please note that Ferran has not refunded the $199 of my maintenance plan for which they have provided no service under the plan to date. That they took as much time writing a response to my review than trying to fix the a/c problem (prior to their final visit). As they state my review has inaccuracies, so does theirs as on at least one occasion, I paid for a service call ($168) in which nothing was performed and I was told to reset the thermostats. I think I know what was done better than someone hiding behind a desk. After their self-congratulatory response to which they merely patted themselves on the back instead of owning up to their mistakes, I revised my review to reflect a D for their lack of professionalism. I cannot believe that someone spends this much time defending themselves instead of improving their service level!!

The shower is now working perfectly. I really appreciated that he let me know I could get the part for free. I also was able to use a $25 coupon because I was an Angie's List member. I was also impressed that he even remembered my dog's name when he came out the second time! She adored him! I have used Ferran Services for both plumbing and electrical work in the past and have always had a good experience with them.

Our experience was great. The installers were very nice and professional. The only negative thing I can say is that when we thought we would need a few feet of additional wiring, I had to run to the store to purchase as they do not carry it on their trucks. I would think if you are going to provide a service where extra supplies would be needed, that you would have the supplies on hand and not send the client to the store. Other than that, it was a very wonderful experience.

They ended up replacing my hot water heater. They attempted several times to repair it, but ultimately it needed to be replaced. Everything seems to be working ok. It ended up taking two weeks to resolve the issue because they kept trying to repair it to save me some money. I found them to be very honorable.

It went well. It was an unusual system that I had earlier, and they were one of the few service providers that knew how to deal with it.

Awesome! I was taking a shower at 10:00am to get ready for work. The shower knob broke in my hand as I turned the shower on. I could not turn it off. I went outdoors and turned off the main line coming into the house. Using Angie's list I called 4 plumbing businesses. Ferran Services had a technician at my home within an hour. It took the tech no more than 15 minutes to resolve the problem. I was able to attend an important meeting at work because I now had sufficient time to have my shower and get dressed for work. Special mention is needed to recognize the tech who responded to my call. Cory did an amazing job on many levels. He assessed the problem and had it repaired immediately. His professionalism reflects highly on both himself and the Ferran organization.

I was contacted earlier today by Josh and gave him some basic directions. He was here very shortly after that, Very efficient. I had a coupon that was printed out, which saved me a lot of money. The normal price was $79.00-paid only $54.00. I would recommend this company and Josh to friends.

1st it just looked like the coils could be clean and all would go back to functionality and life would continue as it was before... So that was going to cost $600, but in starting that process, peeled back an obscuring level of gator board and getting down to the drain pan, discover that this 5 ton unit (air movement term not actual weight, but big metal box has a rather significant weight associated with it). So he discovers and shares with me (and his supervisor) that this is all supported on the 2nd floor on about 3/4:" (on each side) not rather thick (so I'm assuming 3/4") plywood. This plywood is not supported by any real bracing or support, and the whole thing is 16 years old. So anyways, with the whole air handling unit is simply an anvil trap, classic Loony Tunes just waiting to happen. Especially since that plywood had gotten wet, (soaked really) at least twice now. Besides major stuff needs to be done, like ripping up the subfloor/kitchen ceiling where the formerly frozen up ice, melted then ran underneath the 2nd floor's floor down through the Kitchen's ceiling. So all that bridging drywall needs to come out, so whatever water is still in there can evaporate & not lead to any rot/mold. The suds need to have air get to them, so no or only minor wood rot occurs. So the man was good. 1st gave me the lowdown on is it worth cleaning the coils (risk of permanent damage) at 16yrs. Thus honestly a borderline choice. Then immediately upon discovery of the rest, made me of the situation. Essentially, he didn't carry through with cleaning the coils, once it was discovered about the larger under designed, jury-rigged system. One that essentially needs to be removed. So a salesman is coming out tomorrow to talk of the costs of a new one and various. Construction costs associated with installing that new unit. Hey a good opportunity to have the air handler placed on the 1st floor, thus avoiding this whole harebrained situation, in the future. Another good thing about this company is that the repairmen are only technicians, not technician/salesman like in many other companies. Also, I feel like most companies would of carded through with the coil cleanings then a little further down the road, inform me that the whole thing needs to go.

I left a message on website on Sunday - they called me on Monday morning & set up an appointment that afternoon. The serviceman could not open the water shut-off due to bee's, so they rescheduled the next day. They returned and fixed the problem. I was able to use the coupon on the add, so the price was a little better, but overall charge was a little high, but I will use them again. Very pleased.

Most responsive of all vendors contacted. Professional and courteous. Excellent follow up.

The crew did an excellent job and the results will be seen when they do another blow door test on thursday. They provided alot of detailed information on how to seal up the entire house so the ac would work at its best.

Timely visit, but took much too long with only one man working. This was really a two man job and with rains off and during the day, he finished at 7:30 pm. However, very pleasant to deal with.

Service was great. Robert the sales rep organized and coordinated the process and followed up several time with phone calls to make sure everything was going well. Pablo and Gabriel on the install crew were polite and timely. The duct tech forgot to increase the vent diameter on the mast bedroom, but Rob corrected the issue quickly and professionally. Overall very pleased. Well worth the little extra they charge compared to some other companies as these guys make sure everything is done right and that the customer is happy.

They were right on time and got to work. They were professional and worked longer than I thought they would, but I'm no electrician so that's why I called the experts. I have used them before and was glad I was having them return. They put an outside fan on the patio. No more roasting during the day and no more floppy fans. The fan looks great and the outside lights are no longer "Charlie Brown" in their quality and function.

The technician did a very good job cleaning the unit and fixing everything that needed fixing. He arrived on time and took his time to make sure he did a good job. I will continue to use Ferran in the future.

I called them a couple of times. I explained to the sales representatives my situation. If they did not have Carrier's, I would have been willing to work with them and see what other options they offered. I was not currently in the area, but explained that they could come in at any time to take a look. I never heard back from them.

Service was performed by Tony, who was efficient, professional and courteous. After his work was completed, I contracted the company for bi-yearly maintenance checks. I am pleased to recommend them to others.

They acted to busy to handle the actual situation. More so they wanted money upfront.

One of the technicians that they sent on the job did not speak English. The other guy was fluent in English and Spanish. I had an issue and needed to speak with the one guy but I was able to get it taken care of by the person that spoke English. The job they did was fine and they did install one of the top of the line thermostats and I am not completely happy with that. They do not seem to have people that are experienced with that thermostat and three different technicians have not been able to help with working that system. I am pleased with the unit and the work that they did was up to standard.

I used them again for a second time and I know I will not be using them for everything. They were very thorough, did a good job and the price was good. They showed up that night when I was in desperate need and came back the next day with a solution. They knew exactly what they were doing when they showed up.

Ferran arrived on time and performed energy and water efficiency upgrades recommended by OUC (utility company). They were fast, professional, and courteous. They took care of all paperwork and billing directly with OUC. I would use them again.

Technician called me back within a short time and was very professional. Gave me a cost estimate and time he could be here and hit both targets. Quickly resolved the problem and was pleasant to work with. Very happy with Ferran's service.

I placed a frantic call to Ferran with a problem caused by a previous kitchen plumbing job gone bad. They replied and dispatched to my home to help immediately. I was in fear at this point of what could be done to repair a problem caused by previous plumber. When the Ferran technician arrived he assessed the situation and had the answers for me to do the job right. We made the plans and scheduled the job for the next day. The technician arrived with the materials needed to complete the task and made the repairs as if it never happened. The plumbing tech Rodney was honest and straightforward with us. First telling us how he would do the repair and giving us options on how to do it in a more economical way if we needed to. He even offered advise on how to make other repairs ourselves. I'll be requesting Rodney for the follow up job to reconnect plumbing when the kitchen remodel is complete. It's a pleasure to work with someone who loves his job and is proud of his work. Thank you again Ferran !!! This is is the company that you will want to call the first time and every time.

It was great. I called in AM and they said they would work me in. At 2 pm someone was on the way. I had frozen up the unit. They checked to be sure there were no leaks or problems, added some coolant, and my house is cool again! Fred and Kyle were very professional and helpful.

My technician was Jose. He came quickly (I called 2 other companies from Angie's List, and Ferran was the only one able to send someone right away). Jose was polite and worked the entire time he was here. He figured out what was wrong fairly quickly and explained it to me. When he was finished, he cleaned up after himself (even asking to borrow a dustpan!). Thanks!
